Re:Build (Tiny Homes and Sparking Joy)
Saison 1 · Épisode 2
mardi 26 août 2025 • Durée 30:50
Re:Build (Tiny Home & Sparking Joy)
What do we really need to live well? From the houses we build to the possessions we buy, our choices have a huge impact on how we live and the world around us.
In this episode, host Meghann Scully explores how living with less can open up space for a more sustainable future, and she’s joined by two guests who are approaching this in different, but complementary, ways.
Paul Lawford is the founder of Small Change, where he’s helping people explore what he calls a radical, sustainable and affordable alternative to traditional housing. He tells Meghann the story of how he quit his job, sold most of his possessions, and built his own Tiny Home with no previous construction experience.
Aidan Gately, of Joy at Home, is a decluttering specialist and certified KonMari consultant, as well as the first Declutter Expert on RTÉ’s popular television series Home Rescue. He chats about how decluttering is about far more than tidying up; it’s a mindset shift that can reduce waste, bring calm to our homes, and positively affect our mental health.
Re:Play (Sport and Sustainability)
Saison 1 · Épisode 1
mardi 12 août 2025 • Durée 38:31
Sport is everywhere. From a local youth club to a national team competing on a global stage, superstar athletes to superfans, sport is a part of our society and culture like nothing else. And so, it’s the ideal platform from which to help shape a sustainable future.
In this first episode of Re:Energise, host Meghann Scully is joined by two expert guests: Sean McCabe, Head of Climate Justice and Sustainability at Bohemian Football Club, and Oscar Carolan, sustainability consultant and co-founder of Green & Blueprints. They look at how we can use the world of sport to advocate for, and implement, significant changes in sustainability. From work with youth sports clubs and Leinster Rugby, through to the initiatives of Bohemians Football Club, Oscar and Sean highlight innovative initiatives, practical solutions, and the pivotal role sports can play in creating a more sustainable future.

Host Meghann Scully explores sustainability from all sorts of angles, asking the difficult questions, and providing practical advice to change the way you live and influence the world around you for the better.
Re:Create (Comedy and Creativity)
Saison 1 · Épisode 3
mardi 9 septembre 2025 • Durée 43:05
Climate change can be an overwhelming topic, and a cause for anxiety and fear. But for so many people, when there is nothing but despair and hopelessness, it can produce apathy: if nothing can be done, why even bother? Why should I try to live sustainably, why should I advocate for change, if it is not going to make a difference? Well, on this episode, host Meghann Scully chats to three guests who are using comedy and the arts to provide hope. They are very serious about climate change, but know that when it comes to changing people’s minds, comedy and creativity can play a far more effective tools than fear.
Comedian Colm O’Regan talks about his life and career as a self-declared “climate worrier”. He chats about using comedy to navigate despair, how failures can be much funnier (and more honest) than broad and empty sustainability claims, and about the importance of community resilience.
Re:Charge (Irish Energy Past and Future)
Saison 1 · Épisode 4
mardi 23 septembre 2025 • Durée 26:16
A century ago, a newly-independent Ireland began a hugely ambitious project to supply almost all of the country’s electricity needs using renewable energy: the Ardnacrusha hydroelectric power station on the River Shannon.
On this episode, Dr Paul Deane, Senior Lecturer in Clean Energy Futures at University College Cork, sits down with host Meghann Scully to look at this remarkable achievement. Ardnacrusha is, as he argues, a testament to what we can do, what we have done, and what we could do.
Paul is fascinated not just with the history of Ardnacrusha but with the relevance it has today. When the power station was built, we were looking to a renewable energy source to replace fossil fuels and improve energy security and sustainability. A century later, we are at exactly the same juncture. Paul shares his expertise on the future of clean energy and while he is positive about the future, he recognises the huge challenges we face as a country and as a planet.
Re: Purpose (Design & Ingenuity)
mardi 16 décembre 2025 • Durée 32:15
Repurposing and upcycling can be a great way to breathe new life into old objects, but on this episode, Meghann sits down with three people who are repurposing on a grand scale!
Patrick Bradley is an architect based in Derry whose designs have reused shipping containers in incredibly creative ways. In fact, his own multi-award-winning house used four of them, and was voted as the “Grandest Grand Design” in 20 years of the Channel 4 show.
Meanwhile, Gordon Hickey, the owner of a cafe in a shipping container in Dublin, has found his creative choice of building has led to all sorts of benefits.
And finally, at a company called BladeBridge, Angie Nagle and her team are repurposing wind turbine blades into all sorts of products. You would be surprised at how incredibly adaptable they are!
These are all incredible projects, demonstrating how we can take what would otherwise be waste materials, and apply design, engineering, and huge amounts of creativity.
Re:Invent (Technology Risks and Opportunities)
Saison 1 · Épisode 9
mardi 2 décembre 2025 • Durée 34:33
We can’t escape technology, but how much do we really think about the tech we use every day? Is it repairable, recyclable, reusable? Is it second hand? Is it going to become obsolete with a software upgrade in a year’s
time?
On this episode, Meghann asks tech journalist and broadcaster Elaine Burke to walk us through some of the complexities when it comes to technology and sustainability. There are some huge issues to be tackled
here, but there are also opportunities and new developments that could change how we live and how we use technology.
Meghann also sits down with scientist and broadcaster Phil Smyth, to talk about his work with children – the scientists of the future – and how a whole new generation will use technology.
Re:Energise Live (Bonus Episode)
Saison 1
mardi 25 novembre 2025 • Durée 26:35
In this special bonus episode, recorded with a live audience at ESB Headquarters in Dublin, Meghann sits down with Marguerite Sayers, Deputy Chief Executive of ESB.
They chat about Ireland’s changing energy industry and the innovations being rolled out to empower customers and help Ireland’s climate targets.
As ESB prepares to celebrate its centenary, Marguerite gives an insight into what is required to power Ireland over the next 100 years.
Re: Engage (Activism and Action)
Saison 1 · Épisode 8
mardi 18 novembre 2025 • Durée 38:04
How engaged are you with climate change and sustainability? What does climate activism look like today? How do we change the world around us as individuals, organisations, and communities?
Plenty of big questions on this episode, but Meghann has some help answering them from two guests who have been exploring these issues for a very long time. Dr Tara Shine is a scientist, policy advisor and science communicator. She is the author of How to Save Your Planet One Object at a Time, a book that explores how we can change the world as individuals. Her company, Change By Degrees, tackles these same big issues, but for companies and organisations.
Meghann also chats with Sharon McManus, who has had a fascinating career, from lieutenant colonel in the Defence Forces to Group Head of Sustainability at ESB. She too, is looking at the big questions around how we engage with the world around us to change the future for the better.
Re:Act (Storms and Climate)
Saison 1 · Épisode 7
mardi 4 novembre 2025 • Durée 41:01
Earlier this year, Storm Éowyn left nearly one million homes without power, bringing widespread disruption to towns and communities across Ireland. It was one of the most powerful storms the country has ever seen, but was it a sign of what's to come? In this episode, we ask: are storms like this becoming more common, what role is climate change playing, and what might the future hold?
Meghann chats with Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, a weather researcher and science communicator, who breaks down what’s really going on with our climate, why we name storms, and if storms are really getting worse.
We also hear from two very different sides of the storm. Limerick residents Neil and Maura share what it was like when Storm Éowyn hit their home. And from the other side, Siobhan Wynne (regional manager at ESB Networks) gives us a rare behind the scenes look at what happens when the well-known yellow vans are deployed, how teams prepare, respond, and restore power in the middle of a crisis.
