D. B. - 9th Step Amends with Self and with Higher Power - Meeting 303
27 Dec 2024
01:02:32
Here is a bit about D. B. in his own words: I grew up in a nuclear family filled with addicts and alcoholics. In 1995, I began a long term relationship with an alcoholic and sex addict. That relationship and eventual marriage led me on a journey with stops in many forms of institutions and hospitals. By the grace of God, I attended my first Al Anon meeting on July 19, 2004 and my first S-Anon meeting on January 13, 2010. In 2023, for a reason I don’t yet see, my S-Anon friends named me Yodanon. I am proud of being named after the wisest (non conference approved) Jedi knight. Finding my voice through public speaking and serving others helps me earn my emotional sobriety, one day at a time. In this Reco12 Speaker Meeting, D. B. speaks with us about making 9th step amends with himself and with his Higher Power.

Debi's 1st meeting was in 1981. Her 1st sober date was in 1987. Her current and permanent sober date is 1/31/94. After a long history of trouble at home, school, and the law, from a very young age, including rehab, detox, jail, DUI, psych ward, diagnoses, medication, etc. Debi finally surrendered. She was dry 3.5 years for the 2nd time and ready to suicide. She reached out for help with more humility and desperation than she'd ever before been able to muster and allowed a recovered member to take her through the Big Book & the Steps. Debi finally had the vital spiritual experience the book talks about, did all of her 9th step amends in a meaningful way and now lives in Steps 10-12. Today, Debi S speaks to us on 10th Step Evolution.

In today's Afro-Euro Meeting of Reco12, Cristina M from Romania speaks with us on the importance of God's Will in Step 3.
Cristina alcoholic from Romania. Prior to AA, I tried therapy, self-help books and any methods I could find but nothing worked to stop drinking. I first came to Alcoholics Anonymous in 2020. After 2 and half years I started drinking again because I was not willing to do the necessary work of the 12 steps. Finally, on January 2024 I surrendered and begged God to remove my obsession to drink. Asked a recovered member to guide me through the 12 steps. I am very grateful for my sobriety and I'd love to give back what was given freely to me.

Dennis T - Staying Connected in Recovery's Garden - Meeting 289
01 Nov 2024
01:02:50
Dennis T from Alaska joined SA on July 29th 2014. After 40 years of searching for a solution, he was finally introduced to SA at age 52. He asked for a sponsor on day 1 and has worked his program every day since. He states that helping another sexaholic through the steps brings about the greatest connection to his Higher Power than anything else. Being used by God, on a daily basis, has changed his life and his relationships. Living free one day at a time by utterly abandoning himself to his Higher Power has given him a new way of living. Dennis speaks to us today on staying connected in recovery's garden.

Andy H - Miracles of Recovery - Afro Euro - Meeting 288
30 Oct 2024
01:04:29
In today's Afro-Euro Reco12, Andy H speaks on the Miracles of Recovery.
Here is a little about Andy in his own words:
My sobriety date is October 21, 2005 and my Home group is currently the same group that I joined when I first came in- the Morning After Group of Westwood, New Jersey, now both on Zoom and in person.
AA saved my life- I can never give back to A.A. what’s been given to me but I can try one day at a time.
As the result of the 12 Steps-being protected by god, at home with self, and connected to a community, I have moved from a taker to a giver- from a greedy soul towards having a servants heart. The journey has been generous- the job god has me doing is to engage another alcoholic in spiritual activity such I can live a useful life today.

Justin B - Power in Recovery Prayers - Meeting 287
25 Oct 2024
01:09:08
Justin B finally admitted powerlessness over his sexual addiction and the unmanageability of his life in September of 2013 and reluctantly entered his first 12 Step room. After a few weeks, the approach was made by a fellow who told him how to work the program with a sponsor. Justin hasn't looked back since then. Through mountains and valleys of life, more has been disclosed and Justin now identifies as a grateful, multi-disciplinary addict, living in the miracle of recovery, one day at a time. Justin is the grateful steward of the Reco12 family of recovery resources and loves learning of the myriad perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures of addicts from all fellowships, from all faith traditions, and from all over the world. Today he talks about the power he has found in some of the recovery prayers.

Cathy came to Overeaters Anonymous Sept 2013 because she could not stay stopped from hurting herself with food no matter what she tried! A miracle of healing happened 4 years ago when Cathy finally conceded to herself that she will never have enough “will power” to abstain from compulsively overeating. Only a relationship with a Higher Power does for Cathy what she cannot do for herself. In today's meeting, Cathy shares on the crux of the problem.

Matt and Carriss D - Emotional Sobriety and Restoring Intimacy - Meeting 285
11 Oct 2024
01:01:55
Matt and Carriss speak to us today on emotional sobriety and restoring intimacy.
Although sexaholism was pervasive in Matt's family of origin, he didn't know there was a name for it until his wife's own sexaholism brought him to S-Anon in 2021. It wasn't until he was about nine months in that he finally realized he had work to do on himself, and by the end of his first year in recovery he'd completed his step work and had become a new person. It used to be that he couldn't imagine life being any worse, but now, by the grace of God, he struggles to imagine it can get any better.
Carriss is a grateful recovered sexaholic from St. Louis and has been a member of SA since August 2021. Carriss joined the program to save her marriage but when she accepted her sexaholism as a disease and began working a rigorous program she saved herself. Carriss's life, marriage and attitude have changed for the better and for these reasons she is grateful to be a sexaholic.

Liza Love - Formulas, Dictionaries, and Mind Movies - Meeting 283
04 Oct 2024
01:05:29
Liza has been qualified for and in & out of a host of 12-step rooms throughouther entire life, beginning at 8 years old... Every manner of program opportunity relative to familial, chemical, physical, mental, relational, emotional, behavioral, medical, traumatic, legal, experiential... Liza hasn't had (or wanted) an alcoholic beverage since Dec. 31, 1993. Her highest weight was 387 pounds. Liza has been entirely freed from all manner of disordered eating and food matters since inspired Ketogenic eating as a way of life since September 8, 2018, easily maintaining a stable weight of 130 pounds. The simplest truth and reality is that she is quite literally alive today because she finally found everything she had ever been looking for (and so much more) when she discovered recorded shares and real live people reading and living by everything described in that book (Big Book of AA) that sat dusty and resented on her shelves all of these years, and making the decision to join them in doing the same. Liza has been in more 12 Step fellowships than can be reasonably named here and is very active in service in her fellowships. Today she speaks to us on formulas, dictionaries, and mind movies.

Scott H Silverman - From Unlicensed Pharmacist to Coach - Meeting 282
27 Sep 2024
01:04:38
Southern Comfort. It's the first drink Scott ever had. He was 14 and remembers it clearly. When he was 16 he started smoking marijuana and it wasn't long before he moved on to meth, hallucinogens and cocaine and referred to himself as an "unlicensed pharmacist". Scott's heavy drinking and drug use wasn't recreational, it was a way of life. He felt invincible. Until he hit the proverbial brick wall when he was 30. When suicide didn't work, he went into rehab. From there his life started to turn around and he has done many things in that time including writing a book, and spearheading many community and recovery-centered organizations. He should soon commemorate 40 years of sobriety.

Gwen W - The 12 Steps Change Us from the Inside Out - Meeting 278
13 Sep 2024
01:04:38
Gwen spent almost 20 years going in and out of 12-step rooms, struggling to do her part to recover from her food addiction. After years of failing and relapse, she became suicidal. This scared her enough to make one final effort to find recovery . . . and she found it! The more Gwen focused her recovery efforts on a few basic practices outlined in the 12 steps, the better her understanding became of the recovery process. Finally, Gwen made her way to the other side of her food addiction. Today, Gwen is very passionate about teaching the simple addiction recovery framework found in the 12 steps that can lead to peaceful and permanent recovery.

23 Aug 2024
00:58:55
Erica Davenport is our speaker today. Here is a bit about her in her own words: "I was homeless and experienced domestic violence. Was almost killed and almost raped. One day I believe I met an angel through all of my scary moments who pulled me aside and told me she had been looking for me to give me a message. What she told me was amazing. And although I never saw her again even after searching for her several times, everything she told me came true 5 years later.
I am now a non-profit organization called TITO (Turning Insecurities To Opportunities). I am a motivational speaker and author and am dedicated to help others overcome their struggles with addiction."
