The Boy Behind the Laughter: A Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Conversation | Episode 4130 Sep 202601:04:10

Description:
Suicide prevention, childhood suicidal ideation, and surviving a suicide attempt are at the heart of Kelsey Dunbar’s deeply personal story.

Content advisory: This episode contains an honest conversation about suicidal thoughts and a suicide attempt.

Before Kelsey became a personal trainer, resilience coach, author, and co-founder of Suffer To Tougher, he was a child silently struggling with abandonment, bullying, isolation, weight-related shame, and thoughts of suicide.

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey shares how humor became both a survival mechanism and a disguise. While others saw the class clown, they could not see the pain hidden behind the laughter.

Kelsey and Marc Rogala discuss:

• Childhood trauma, bullying, and suicidal ideation
• The ā€œJacques the Clownā€ story that shaped Kelsey’s identity
• The question Kelsey asked himself in the mirror every morning
• The circumstances surrounding his suicide attempt
• What surviving that moment meant for his recovery
• How small decisions helped him begin rebuilding his life
• Why becoming a father strengthened his commitment to stay
• How to support someone who may be struggling silently
• Why strong, successful, and helpful people still need support

This Suicide Prevention Awareness Month conversation is a reminder that someone can appear happy, funny, confident, or strong while privately carrying tremendous pain. We do not need perfect words to reach someone. We need the willingness to notice, ask, listen, stay, and follow up.

If you are struggling or having thoughts of suicide in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

Rebuild & Fulfill is powered by Suffer To Tougher.
Real talk. Real growth. Keep rebuilding.

How We Built a Global Summit With 130+ Speakers | Behind the Transformation Gap – Ep. 4018 Sep 202600:41:00

How do two people take one question and turn it into a six-day global Summit with more than 130 speakers?

In this special behind-the-scenes episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Suffer To Tougher Co-Founders Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala pull back the curtain on how The Transformation Gap Summit actually came together.

It wasn't simply LinkedIn, speaker applications, or networking.

It was decades of relationships.

Kelsey's world of fitness, coaching, speaking, business, podcasting, and mental health collided with Marc's world of addiction, recovery, peer support, behavioral health, and lived experience. Those two worlds eventually became Suffer To Tougher, and now they've helped bring together more than 130 voices from around the world.

In this episode, Kelsey and Marc talk about:

  • Why the Summit was built around a question rather than an answer
  • How their completely different life experiences shaped the speaker lineup
  • Why mental health runs throughout the Summit without making it a traditional mental-health conference
  • How the six Transformation Lenses organize more than 130 speakers
  • How the free six-day Summit actually works
  • Why attendees should not try to watch everything
  • The difference between gathering more information and actually implementing what you learn

The goal isn't to hear every speaker.

It's to find the conversation that meets you where you are, take something from it, and do something with it. As Kelsey explains in the episode, if all the Summit provides is more information, it hasn't closed the Transformation Gap at all.

More than 130 speakers. Six different lenses. One central question:

Why can we know what needs to change, sometimes with complete clarity, and still struggle to consistently live it?

Don't try to consume everything.

Find your gap. Find the conversations that speak to it. Listen. Learn. Then do something with it.

Don’t Wait Until It’s Obvious: How to Reach In When Someone Is Struggling13 Sep 202600:12:34

Some struggles are easy to see. Others are hidden behind work, laughter, responsibility, and the appearance of being strong.

In this brief solo episode, Kelsey Dunbar shares practical guidance for checking on someone who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts or emotional distress. He explains how to recognize that something may be wrong, ask direct questions, listen without judgment, help someone connect with support, and continue checking in after the immediate crisis has passed.

Kelsey also speaks directly to anyone who may be struggling and offers simple words they can use when they do not know how to ask for help.

This episode serves as an important lead-in to tomorrow’s deeply personal conversation about Kelsey’s own experience with suicidal thoughts. Because some listeners may not feel ready to hear that story, this episode ensures that potentially lifesaving information is still shared.

Content Notice: This episode discusses suicide and emotional distress.

If you are in the United States and need emotional support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Outside the United States, contact your local crisis line or emergency services.

Knowing Wasn’t Enough | Jimmy Morris on Gambling Addiction and Real Recovery | Episode 3805 Sep 202600:39:36

immy Morris knew he had a gambling problem long before he was ready to fully embrace recovery.

At 23, Jimmy attended his first Gamblers Anonymous meeting and recognized where his life was heading. Yet for years, he moved in and out of the program, returning when the pain became unbearable and leaving when the immediate crisis passed. Even incarceration wasn’t enough to quiet the obsession.

Everything began to change after his final bet on February 9, 2012. His family stopped rescuing him, he was told he wasn’t welcome at Easter dinner, and two people offered exactly what he needed. One showed him compassion, while the other confronted him with a difficult truth.

In this episode, Jimmy opens up about:

• Growing up around normalized gambling in Chicago’s Little Italy
• Recognizing his addiction but still believing he could control it
• Why painful consequences weren’t enough to create lasting change
• The difference between stopping gambling and truly living in recovery
• Rebuilding trust through actions rather than promises
• The growing risks created by mobile gambling, prop bets, and constant advertising
• Turning his painful experiences into a purpose that helps others

Jimmy has now been gambling-free for more than 14 years. He hosts Gambling Recovery: Taking Back Your Life, where people affected by gambling addiction share honest stories of struggle, recovery, and reclaiming their lives. He is also working on a manuscript about his journey.

Jimmy will also be sharing the virtual stage with us at The Transformation Gap Summit, taking place September 24–29, 2026.

International Overdose Awareness Day | Remembering the Lost, Fighting for the Living | Episode 3731 Aug 202600:54:58

August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day, a day to remember those who died, acknowledge the grief carried by families and friends, reduce the stigma surrounding addiction, and take action to prevent another life from being lost.

For Rebuild & Fulfill co-host Marc Rogala, the meaning of this day is deeply personal.

Marc experienced three overdoses that resulted in hospitalization, along with others that nobody ever knew about. His final overdose occurred on July 17, 2020, when an Uber driver recognized that something was wrong and called 911. Marc’s sister found him on the kitchen floor, a police officer administered Narcan, and Marc woke up in intensive care.

In this deeply personal conversation, Marc and Kelsey discuss why surviving an overdose does not automatically end an addiction, the people Marc knew who never made it into recovery, and the complicated emotions that come with surviving when others did not.

They also explore the trauma experienced by parents, children, siblings, spouses, and friends, the language that can help someone accept treatment, and why recognizing addiction as an illness can replace shame with a path toward recovery.

Today, we remember the people who were lost, stand beside those still struggling, support the loved ones affected, and honor the people who chose to act when someone’s life depended on it.

If you believe someone is experiencing an opioid overdose, administer naloxone if available and call 911 immediately. For confidential treatment information in the United States, visit FindTreatment.gov or call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).

When Your Brain Gets Too Good at Protecting You | Dr. Sam Tyriver & Hayley DiMarco | Episode 3629 Aug 202601:05:31

What if your brain is trying so hard to protect you that it's actually making your world smaller?

Pain is real. Anxiety is real. Fear is real. But sometimes the brain's alarm system can remain on high alert even after the original threat has passed.

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala sit down with Dr. Sam Tyriver, physical therapist and creator of the Certified Mindbody Trained Therapist program, and bestselling author Hayley DiMarco to explore the ideas behind their upcoming book, The Overprotective Brain.

And for Hayley, this isn't simply a book she helped write. She originally met Sam as his patient. After years of chronic pain, migraines and anxiety, their work together changed the way she understood what was happening inside her own body and eventually led to an unexpected collaboration.

Together, we explore how the brain can learn to associate movement and everyday experiences with danger, why avoidance can reinforce that alarm, the difference between hurt and harm, and why rebuilding trust in your body often requires taking small actions before you feel completely ready.

Sam and Hayley also introduce the idea of your ā€œInner Pharmacyā€ and explain how movement, connection, meaningful activity and other everyday behaviors can help support the brain and body.

Marc also shares how this conversation intersects with his own experience of unexplained neck and back pain, prescription opioids, addiction and ultimately recovery.

Perhaps the most powerful message comes near the end of the conversation when Hayley challenges the idea that years of pain, fear or avoidance have to become your identity:

Who you became doesn't have to be who you remain.

Turning Stigma Into Strength | Andrea Paquette’s Bipolar Babe Story | Episode 3526 Aug 202600:58:05

What happens when the diagnosis you believe has destroyed your future eventually becomes the catalyst for your purpose?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar sits down with Andrea Paquette, better known as Bipolar Babe, for a deeply personal conversation about bipolar disorder, stigma, resilience, identity, and rebuilding a life after mental illness changes everything.

Andrea shares the reality of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 25, experiencing psychosis, hospitalization, a suicide attempt, and the fear that her future had been permanently rewritten. She also shares the moment she finally stood in front of hundreds of people and declared, ā€œI have bipolar disorder, but I am not bipolar disorder.ā€

That decision to stop hiding eventually became the Bipolar Babe Project and grew into a much larger mission through the Stigma-Free Mental Health Society, where Andrea has spent more than 15 years helping change the way people understand and talk about mental health.

Andrea and Kelsey discuss the people who showed up when she needed them most, the unexpected origin of Bipolar Babe, the evolution of her advocacy, mental health in the workplace, reaching young people before they reach a crisis, and the individual stories that remind Andrea why this work matters.

Andrea also opens up about her upcoming memoir, Bipolar Babe: A Tale of Two Worlds, and what an extraordinary life means to her today after decades of searching for it.

Her answer is remarkably simple:

Peace.

If you've ever felt defined by a diagnosis, ashamed of something you've experienced, or wondered whether life can truly get better, Andrea's story is a powerful reminder that things can change—and that you don't have to have everything figured out today.

You Can’t Out-Tough Addiction | Eric Metcalf’s Journey Through Recovery – Part 2 | Episode 3423 Aug 202601:30:03

What happens when the person who has spent his life helping others becomes the one who needs to be saved?

In Part 2 of our conversation with Army veteran, recovery advocate, author, and NAMI DuPage Director of Peer Workforce Development Eric Metcalf, we continue a story that ultimately became about much more than addiction.

After the death of his wife Jan, Eric intentionally began tearing apart the life they had built together. Eventually, the former shelter director found himself homeless, battling addiction, pushing away the people trying to reach him, and even staying in the same shelter he once helped lead.

But people kept showing up.

Former students Eric once mentored came looking for him. A man in recovery tracked him down and refused to accept ā€œtomorrowā€ when Eric promised he'd get help. Those moments eventually helped Eric do something that had been incredibly difficult for him throughout his life:

Allow himself to be helped.

This conversation also becomes deeply personal for all three of us as we talk about why the people doing the helping still need help themselves, the importance of regular mental health check-ins, vulnerability, and the very different reasons each of us feels compelled to serve others.

Eric puts it beautifully:

ā€œWe only heal from what we reveal.ā€

We also explore why lived experience makes peer support so powerful, how Eric eventually found his way to NAMI DuPage, the family and life he almost never got to experience, and the story behind his newly released book, Beyond the Shadows: A Search for ME.

And that title leads us to perhaps the most important question of the entire two-part conversation:

After the soldier, the businessman, the addict, the husband, the grief, the recovery, the service and everything you've survived...

Eric Metcalf, who are you?

Part 2 isn't simply about getting sober.

It's about allowing yourself to be helped, discovering who you are beyond what happened to you, and realizing that as long as you're still here, your story isn't finished.

You Can’t Out-Tough Addiction | Eric Metcalf’s Journey Through Recovery – Part 1 | Episode 33

What happens when the strength and discipline that carried you through life are no longer enough?

In Episode 33 of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala sit down with Army veteran, recovery advocate, author, and NAMI DuPage Director of Peer Workforce Development Eric Metcalf for Part 1 of an incredibly raw conversation about addiction, military service, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, recovery, purpose, and learning to accept help.

Eric shares why discipline alone couldn’t overcome addiction, what happened when drinking became intertwined with military brotherhood, and the difficult transition back into civilian life. He also opens up about receiving his PTSD and traumatic brain injury diagnoses and the realization that while he was helping other veterans piece their lives back together, his own life was being pieced back together too.

One of the most powerful moments comes as Eric shares the story of Nate, a veteran he tried desperately to help who later died by suicide. The experience forced Eric to confront one of the hardest lessons for anyone who dedicates their life to helping others:

You can care deeply. You can show up. You can give someone everything you know how to give. But you cannot control every outcome.

And when Marc reveals that Eric later helped him through an eerily similar experience, the conversation takes an unexpected and deeply personal turn.

šŸ“– AVAILABLE TODAY: Beyond the Shadows: A Search for ME

The timing of this episode couldn’t be better. Eric’s book is officially published TODAY!

Beyond the Shadows: A Search for ME takes readers deeper into a journey inspired by Eric’s experiences with addiction, trauma, loss, recovery, identity, and the search to understand who we are beyond the things that have happened to us.

Get Eric’s new book here:
Beyond the Shadows: A Search for ME on Amazon

This is only Part 1 of Eric’s story.

It’s a conversation about recovery, resilience, brotherhood, purpose, and why sometimes real strength isn’t about fighting harder.

Sometimes it’s about finally allowing someone else to help carry you.

And Eric’s story is far from over.

Part 2 coming soon.

Learning to Trust Yourself Again | Amy Lenius on Self-Worth, Self-Belief & Growth | Episode 3215 Aug 202601:10:43

What happens when you stop doubting yourself and finally learn to trust your own voice, your own experiences, and your own ability to create change?

In Episode 32 of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala sit down with Amy Lenius, Director of Group Coaching at Next Level University, professional speaker, coach, and event MC, for a powerful conversation about self-worth, self-belief, self-trust, consistency, chronic illness, personal development, identity, and creating lasting change.

Amy's journey toward helping others began with her own struggle.

After years of living with endometriosis and chronic illness, Amy experienced surgeries, medications, pain, and times when she felt unheard by the medical system. Eventually, she realized she needed to become an active participant in her own health and learn to advocate for herself.

Years later, that self-trust was tested again when Amy repeatedly sought medical help for pain she knew was different. After initially being sent home, further investigation ultimately revealed an internal bleed requiring emergency surgery.

She knew something wasn't right. Learning to trust herself mattered.

That journey helped shape a philosophy Amy now brings to her coaching and personal development work: lasting transformation isn't simply about knowing more. It's about developing the internal foundation that allows you to actually change.

Amy shares her Three Gears of Success:

Self-Worth. Self-Belief. Consistency.

We explore the difference between self-worth and self-belief, why confidence is often built through action rather than waiting to feel ready, and how keeping small promises to yourself can gradually rebuild trust in who you are and what you're capable of becoming.

We also discuss:

• Rebuilding self-trust after difficult experiences
• Self-advocacy and learning to listen to yourself
• Self-worth vs. self-belief
• Why motivation alone doesn't create lasting change
• Building consistency through small, sustainable habits
• Breaking the all-or-nothing mindset
• Perfectionism and personal growth
• Identity and behavior change
• Creating success that actually feels fulfilling
• Why knowing what to do isn't the same as consistently doing it

Amy's message is a powerful reminder that personal growth doesn't require changing everything overnight.

Sometimes rebuilding starts much smaller:

Trust yourself again. Keep one promise to yourself. Then build from there.

If you've ever struggled with self-doubt, confidence, consistency, self-worth, or trusting yourself enough to make a change, this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill is for you.

Amputee Firefighter Battles PTSD & Rebuilds His Life | Darren Richardson | Episode 3112 Aug 202600:43:04

What happens when a firefighter, paramedic, and amputee who spent years helping other people through their worst moments realizes he needs help himself?

In Episode 31 of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar sits down with former firefighter and paramedic Darren Richardson for a powerful conversation about PTSD, amputation, mental health, resilience, identity, addiction, and rebuilding your life after adversity.

Darren's story of resilience began at just 13 years old, when a massive boulder crushed his foot during a hiking accident. Doctors initially believed he might lose his leg. He ultimately lost two toes and was told he may never rock climb or ski again.

Three months later, he was rock climbing. By that winter, he was skiing and racing again.

That experience helped shape a mindset Darren would need again decades later.

Darren went on to spend nearly 20 years as a firefighter and paramedic, a career he loved so deeply that being a firefighter became part of his identity. But years of traumatic calls began taking their toll. PTSD, depression, alcohol, family struggles, and eventually leaving the fire service sent Darren into one of the darkest periods of his life.

Despite years of helping other people, Darren didn't initially recognize PTSD in himself. At rock bottom, with his family at risk and his life unraveling, he finally sought professional help.

Darren says walking into a therapist's office was harder than running into a burning building.

But asking for help became the beginning of his rebuild.

Then life tested him again.

While training to return to the fire service, complications from his original injury resulted in a transmetatarsal amputation, removing part of his foot. Once again, Darren was told there were things he might never do again, including running, jumping, and surfing.

Once again, he challenged those limitations.

Just three months after his amputation, Darren was wake surfing with his daughters on Father's Day. Today, he runs, mountain bikes, trains, and uses everything he's experienced to help others overcome their own challenges.

Today Darren is the founder of Ashes to Ascent Coaching, where he works as a mindset, resilience, and mental performance coach, with a particular passion for helping first responders, veterans, amputees, and people rebuilding after adversity.

In this conversation, we explore PTSD in first responders, losing your identity after leaving a career, alcohol and depression, the courage to ask for help, rebuilding after amputation, resilience and mental performance, changing destructive habits, therapy versus coaching, and why other people don't get to determine the limits of your future.

One of Darren's most powerful lessons is also one of the simplest:

Don't let somebody else set your limits.

Your past may explain your story, but it never has to define your future.

The Transformation Gap Summit | Why We’re Building Something Different | Episode 3010 Aug 202600:13:59

What happens when you know what you need to do—but still struggle to actually do it?

That's The Transformation Gap: the space between knowing what needs to change and being able to create real, lasting change in your life.

And it's the idea behind The Transformation Gap Summit (TTGS).

In this special episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala explore why personal transformation can be so difficult—even when we already have the knowledge. From mindset and habits to health, relationships, business, career, identity, recovery, and personal growth, the Transformation Gap can show up almost anywhere.

So how do we close it?

That's the question behind TTGS.

The Transformation Gap Summit will bring together dozens of speakers with different backgrounds, experiences, and approaches to transformation—because sometimes the breakthrough isn't learning something completely new. Sometimes it's hearing the right idea, from the right person, in a way that finally clicks.

You'll also get a first look at The Gap, a new series of short Rebuild & Fulfill episodes introducing speakers from The Transformation Gap Summit.

These brief conversations will help you meet the speakers, understand why they joined TTGS, hear what the Transformation Gap means through their lens, and discover which Summit sessions you don't want to miss.

Because knowing what to do and actually doing it aren't the same thing.

Sometimes you already know what needs to change.

You just haven't discovered how to make that change stick.

And sometimes...

that's where transformation starts.

The Weight of "If Only": Letting Go of the Regret That Keeps You Stuck05 Aug 202600:45:11

How many times have you replayed a conversation, a decision, or a moment in your life wondering… "If only?"

Regret has a way of convincing us that we're responsible for outcomes we could never fully control. Left unchecked, those "if onlys" become emotional weight that keeps us stuck.

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar sits down with attorney, keynote speaker, and creator of the Regret to Resilience Method, Stephanie Renner, for a powerful conversation about overcoming regret, healing after loss, mental health, self-forgiveness, and building resilience.

After the devastating loss of her 18-year-old son, Jordan, Stephanie found herself replaying every decision, questioning every choice, and putting herself on trial. Through that journey, she discovered that healing isn't about finding a way back—it's about finding a way forward.

Together, Kelsey and Stephanie explore:

• Why regret becomes so difficult to let go of
• The weight of the "if onlys" and how to release them
• Why your worth is not determined by the outcome
• The difference between moving on and moving forward
• How to stop prosecuting yourself and begin rebuilding your life
• The connection between grief, guilt, shame, and personal growth

Whether you're navigating the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a career setback, or simply carrying the weight of past decisions, this conversation offers practical tools, hope, and a path toward emotional healing, resilience, and renewed purpose.

Why You'll Never Feel Good Enough | The Comparison Trap | Episode 2702 Aug 202600:17:20

Why do so many capable, successful people still struggle with feeling like they're falling behind?

In this solo episode of the Rebuild & Fulfill Podcast, Kelsey Dunbar explores a challenge that almost every one of us faces—but few of us recognize until it's already shaping the way we see ourselves.

We often assume comparison is the problem.

But what if comparison isn't the trap at all?

What if the real danger is the story we begin telling ourselves after we compare our lives to someone else's?

In this episode, Kelsey introduces The Comparison Trap—a framework for understanding why comparison quietly steals confidence, fuels self-doubt, and keeps us stuck believing we'll never be enough.

You'll discover:

• Why comparison itself isn't the enemy

• How self-worth becomes tied to someone else's success

• Why social media can distort our perspective

• The difference between healthy comparison and destructive comparison

• The one comparison that actually helps you grow

• How to stop measuring your life against someone else's timeline

This conversation also builds on the ideas introduced in The Transformation Gap, continuing the discussion about why lasting change is often harder than simply knowing what to do.

Whether you're rebuilding after burnout, navigating grief, growing a business, improving your health, or simply trying to become a stronger version of yourself, this episode offers a practical mindset shift that can change the way you see your own journey.

Because your greatest competition has never been someone else.

It's the story you've been believing about yourself.

More Than the Diagnosis | Jimmy Choi on Rebuilding After Parkinson's | Episode 26 | Part 1

American Ninja Warrior competitor, Guinness World Record holder, and Parkinson's advocate Jimmy Choi shares the remarkable story of how a Young-Onset Parkinson's diagnosis transformed his life. In Part 1 of this two-part conversation, Jimmy opens up about receiving his diagnosis at just 27 years old, living in denial for eight years, and the life-changing decision that set him on an extraordinary journey of resilience, purpose, and hope.

What do you do when the future you imagined suddenly disappears?

For Jimmy Choi, that question became reality after being diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson's disease. Instead of immediately accepting the diagnosis, Jimmy spent years trying to ignore it—until one terrifying moment forced him to confront the life he was living.

In this powerful conversation, Jimmy shares the emotional story behind his transformation, revealing how one decision to start moving ultimately changed everything. Long before the American Ninja Warrior course, the Guinness World Record, and the national recognition, there was simply a man trying to take back control of his life.

This episode is about much more than Parkinson's. It's about resilience, identity, discipline, hope, and the courage to rebuild when life doesn't go according to plan.

In this episode:
  • Jimmy's Young-Onset Parkinson's diagnosis at age 27
  • Eight years of denial and avoiding reality
  • The terrifying moment that became his turning point
  • Why exercise became the foundation for rebuilding his life
  • Discipline vs. motivation: what actually creates lasting change
  • Building confidence one decision at a time
  • The unexpected impact of inspiring others through your own journey
  • The Runner's World story that changed everything

šŸŽ™ļø This is Part 1 of a special two-part conversation.

In Part 2, Jimmy shares his journey to American Ninja Warrior, earning a Guinness World Record, working with the Michael J. Fox Foundation, consulting on the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, and the legacy he hopes to leave for others facing adversity.

I Keep Starting Over... Why? | You're Further Along Than You Think | Episode 2318 Jul 202600:20:22

Have you ever caught yourself thinking... "Here we go again?"

You started eating healthier... then stopped.

You committed to exercising... then life got busy.

You promised yourself this time would be different... but somehow found yourself right back where you started.

Or did you?

In Episode 23 of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala continue the conversation that began with The Transformation Gap by tackling one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves:

"I'm starting over."

The truth is...

Most people aren't starting over at all.

They're starting again—with more experience, more awareness, and more wisdom than they had before.

Whether you're rebuilding after addiction, improving your mental health, pursuing fitness goals, strengthening relationships, or simply trying to become the person you know you're capable of becoming, setbacks don't erase your progress.

They become part of your growth.

In this episode, you'll discover:

• Why recovery, healing, and personal growth are never linear

• The difference between starting over and starting again

• How perfectionism and shame keep people stuck

• Why one setback doesn't erase months—or even years—of progress

• The importance of giving yourself the same grace you'd give someone you love

• How every setback teaches you something that can help you move forward

If you've ever felt like you've failed...

If you've ever convinced yourself you've lost all your progress...

This conversation is for you.

Because maybe you're not back at square one.

Maybe you're exactly where you need to be...

Starting again—with experience you didn't have before.

The Conversation That Changed Everything | The Transformation Gap Episode 2211 Jul 202600:21:02

What if the biggest obstacle to lasting change isn't a lack of motivation... but a gap you've never been able to name?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala introduce The Transformation Gap—the idea that has quietly shaped years of coaching, countless conversations, and every episode of this podcast.

The Transformation Gap is the space between what we know... and how we consistently live.

Most of us already know what we should do.

We know we should eat healthier.
Exercise more.
Communicate better.
Set boundaries.
Ask for help.
Spend more time with our families.
Take care of our mental health.

So why is lasting transformation still so difficult?

That's the question that led to The Transformation Gap.

In this conversation, Kelsey and Marc explain why people don't stay stuck because they're lazy, weak, or broken. They stay stuck because there's often a gap between awareness and action—a gap that affects every area of life, including mental health, recovery, relationships, leadership, business, parenting, and personal growth.

This episode also marks the first public introduction of The Transformation Gap, the foundational idea behind the upcoming Transformation Gap Summit, where these concepts will be explored in much greater depth.

In this episode, we discuss:

• What The Transformation Gap really is

• Why knowing what to do isn't enough

• Why people aren't broken—they're often stuck

• The difference between information and transformation

• Why curiosity creates growth while shame keeps us trapped

• How recognizing The Transformation Gap is the first step toward lasting change

If you've ever caught yourself saying...

"I know what I need to do... I just can't seem to do it."

This episode is for you.

This is more than a conversation.

It's the beginning of a new language for understanding why change feels difficult—and how real transformation begins.

What separates the people who transform their lives from the ones who give up?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala explore why consistency—not talent, luck, or even motivation—is one of the greatest predictors of lasting success. Inspired by reaching Episode 20, this conversation looks beyond podcasting to uncover the common thread behind recovery, mental health, personal growth, physical health, and meaningful life change.

Whether you're rebuilding after addiction, navigating anxiety or depression, improving your health, repairing relationships, or simply trying to become a stronger version of yourself, this episode is a reminder that lasting transformation happens one decision at a time.

In this episode, we discuss:

The First Honest Conversation | Episode 1304 Jun 202600:43:36

What if healing doesn't begin with therapy, a diagnosis, medication, or a treatment plan?

What if it begins with one honest conversation?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala explore why honesty is often the first step toward healing, personal growth, recovery, and lasting change.

Many people struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, addiction, trauma, stress, overwhelm, and emotional pain for months—or even years—before they tell someone what they're really going through. Fear, shame, pride, and stigma often keep people silent long after they realize they need support.

In this conversation, Kelsey and Marc discuss:

• Why people hide their struggles
• The connection between honesty and healing
• Mental health stigma and fear of judgment
• Why vulnerability feels so difficult
• The role of trust, support, and connection
• How isolation can make emotional struggles worse
• What happens when we finally tell the truth about what we're carrying
• Why asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, burnout, trauma, self-doubt, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, this episode is a reminder that you don't have to carry everything alone.

Sometimes the breakthrough doesn't begin with a solution.

Sometimes it begins with a conversation.

Why You Still Struggle Even When You're Trying | Episode 1201 Jun 202600:39:16

Why do so many people continue to struggle—even when they're genuinely trying to change?

They're working on their mental health, trying to build better habits, improve their mindset, heal from past struggles, and create positive change in their lives.

They're reading the books.
Listening to the podcasts.
Watching the videos.
Trying to grow.

And yet they still find themselves falling back into old patterns, unhealthy habits, self-sabotage, emotional overwhelm, and the same frustrations they've faced before.

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala explore why trying harder isn't always the answer, why motivation often fails, and what actually creates lasting change.

Together, they discuss:
• Why awareness alone doesn't create transformation
• Why people fall back into old habits and behaviors
• The pressure to "be better by now"
• Anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion
• Why motivation is unreliable
• The importance of structure, rhythm, accountability, and consistency
• What real healing and personal growth actually look like
• How to stop starting over and begin moving forward

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, motivation, self-doubt, unhealthy habits, or simply feeling stuck, this conversation will help you understand why change is often harder than we expect—and what you can do about it.

Because struggling doesn't mean you're failing.

Why Self-Awareness Isn't Enough | Episode 1024 May 202600:32:18

You’ve become more self-aware. You recognize your patterns, understand your triggers, and know what needs to change… so why do you still feel stuck?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala break down why awareness alone doesn’t automatically create transformation. They explore the difference between understanding your struggles and actually building the structure needed to move forward.

From emotional patterns and avoidance to motivation, habits, identity, and consistency, this conversation dives into why so many people stay trapped in cycles even after they ā€œknow better.ā€

Because healing isn’t just about awareness.
It’s about action, rhythm, support, and learning how to build a life you can actually sustain.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Why awareness matters — but isn’t the finish line
  • The trap of becoming ā€œself-aware but still stuckā€
  • Why knowing what to do doesn’t always lead to change
  • Emotional patterns, avoidance, and familiar coping mechanisms
  • Why motivation fades and structure matters
  • The importance of rhythm, accountability, and support
  • What real growth actually looks like
  • How to stop just understanding your struggles and start building a healthier way forward

If you’ve ever thought:
ā€œI know what I need to do… so why can’t I seem to do it?ā€
this episode is for you.

Stop Paddling Upstream: How Brain Chemistry Shapes the Way You Feel | Episode 909 May 202600:34:22

What if the reason life feels harder than it should… isn’t because you’re weak, lazy, or broken?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill podcast, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala break down the role brain chemistry plays in motivation, stress, mood, emotional balance, connection, and mental resilience.

We dive into the five major brain chemicals that influence how you think, feel, react, and function every day:

⚔ Dopamine — drive, reward, and addiction
šŸ”„ Cortisol — stress, anxiety, and survival mode
šŸŒ¤ļø Serotonin — emotional stability and confidence
šŸ’Ŗ Endorphins — relief, movement, and release
šŸ¤ Oxytocin — connection, trust, and feeling supported

This isn’t a clinical lecture. It’s a real conversation about why so many people feel like they’re ā€œpaddling upstreamā€ in life—and how understanding your brain chemistry can help you stop fighting yourself and start working with your mind and body instead of against them.

If you’ve ever felt:

  • mentally exhausted
  • emotionally stuck
  • constantly overwhelmed
  • unmotivated even when you care
  • disconnected from yourself or others

…this episode is for you.

Because sometimes the issue isn’t that you’re failing…

it’s that your system is overloaded.

šŸŽ§ Listen now and learn how small daily habits, structure, movement, recovery, and connection can begin shifting the chemistry behind the way you feel.

Kelsey shares a moment from a recent radio interview that led someone to open up for the first time…

It’s a reminder of why this podcast exists…

And where it’s going.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re carrying more than you can manage…

They Call Her "The Dominator"... Here's Why | Episode 511 Apr 202601:02:14

They call her ā€œThe Dominatorā€ā€¦ but that title wasn’t given. It was built.

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, we sit down with Inez Carrasquillo to talk about the real story behind the strength people see today.

Her journey includes adversity, self-doubt, and moments where things could have gone a completely different direction. Long before the titles, before the recognition, there were seasons that tested everything.

What makes this conversation powerful isn’t just what she’s accomplished.

It’s what she had to fight through to get there.

This episode goes beyond strongman competitions and physical strength. It’s about identity, resilience, and what it really takes to rebuild when life doesn’t go the way you planned.

It’s also a conversation about breaking expectations, including what it looks like for women to step into spaces where they were never expected to belong… and dominate anyway.

A reminder that strength is often built in the moments no one sees.

You’re not broken. You’re overloaded.

šŸ”„ In this episode:

• The story behind ā€œThe Dominatorā€
• Overcoming adversity and self-doubt
• Women stepping into strongman and breaking expectations
• What it really takes to build mental and physical strength
• What she would tell someone struggling right now

The Weight I Couldn't Carry: Kelsey's Story | Episode 328 Mar 202600:27:16

What shapes the way we understand strength?

In this episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Marc Rogala turns the tables and interviews co-host Kelsey Dunbar about the experiences that shaped his perspective on resilience, identity, and rebuilding.

Kelsey shares what it was like growing up in an environment without much structure or support — navigating the absence of his father, a household impacted by partying and instability, and being sent to military school at a young age. Those early experiences forced him to grow up quickly and shaped the way he would later approach discipline, strength, and personal growth.

As he transitioned back into public school, he faced challenges with identity, weight, anger, and depression — experiences that would eventually influence the path he chose in life.

Kelsey went on to spend nearly three decades in the fitness industry helping people build physical strength, but along the way realized something deeper:

Many people who look strong on the outside are quietly struggling on the inside.

This conversation explores how early life experiences shape identity, how struggle can either hold you back or move you forward, and how those experiences ultimately led to the message behind Suffer to Tougher.

In this episode we discuss:

• Growing up without structure and support
• Being forced to grow up too fast
• Identity, anger, and internal struggle
• The connection between physical and mental strength
• Turning life experiences into purpose

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, this episode is a reminder:

You’re not broken.

Sometimes you’re just overloaded.

And rebuilding is always possible.

Rock Bottom Wasn't the End: Marc's Journey | Episode 221 Mar 202600:37:45

Rock bottom doesn’t happen all at once… it builds until you can’t ignore it anymore.
This is what it really looks like — and how rebuilding begins.

šŸŽ™ Episode 1 – Description

Rebuild & Fulfill

What happens when high-functioning people hit a wall?

In the first episode of Rebuild & Fulfill, Kelsey Dunbar and Marc Rogala introduce the story and message behind the podcast — a conversation about burnout, resilience, and the process of rebuilding your life when everything feels overwhelming.

Through their work with Suffer to Tougher, Kelsey and Marc have seen how many people quietly carry more pressure than anyone realizes. Careers change, relationships break, expectations pile up, and eventually people reach what they call a strength threshold — the moment when pushing harder no longer works.

Instead of seeing these moments as failure, they explore how these seasons can become the starting point for rebuilding stronger with clarity, structure, and support.

This episode lays the foundation for the conversations ahead — honest discussions about burnout, mental resilience, and rebuilding after life’s toughest seasons.

We also want to take a moment to thank the many people who have supported the Suffer to Tougher message along the way. Your encouragement, conversations, and belief in this work helped make this podcast possible. This community has been a reminder that no matter how difficult life becomes, rebuilding is always possible.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, you’re not alone.

And you’re not broken.

Welcome to Rebuild & Fulfill.
