| How to Handle Toddler Tantrums - Ep. 34 | 07 Jan 2024 | 00:15:02 | |
A member of The Calm & Confident club asked how to best handle toddler tantrums, and I wanted to share the answer to this commonly asked question with you all! If you sometimes struggle with how to regulate, redirect, or even tolerate toddler meltdowns - this video is for you! To join us in The Calm & Confident Club, visit https://www.covenantcollections.com/club To claim your free gift of 125 Faithful Parenting Affirmation Cards, visit https://www.covenantcollections.com/125 How to handle toddler tantrums: 1. Demonstrate appropriate and desired behavior whenever you can. 2. Share your calm, don't let them share their chaos. 3. Realize that their emotions about this are valid, and it's completely okay to allow them to feel and process those feelings. 4. Try to manage their triggers whenever possible. 5. Choose your 'no's' carefully to ensure your child can count on 'no' meaning 'no'. 6. Think out loud to encourage working through decisions, making decisions, and modeling appropriate thought patterns. 7. Be empathetic- Try to understand the situation from their perspective rather than your own. 8. Positive reinforcement- When they do a good job handling things or a good job redirecting, acknowledge and encourage it. Which tip is your favorite?!
