Large Language Model (“AI”) movement pattern analysis surveillance cameras have begun to be installed in Berlin, only to be met by a thousand person protest. In parallel, “Chat Control” an EU bill to introduce arbitrary mass surveillance of our devices has recently passed the first round of becoming law. Digging us out of the hypnotic doomscroll that such knowledge can understandably induce we’re joined by Jasmine Guffond, an artist and composer working at the interface of social, political and technical infrastructures, and by Andric Spaeth, an artist and activist pushing the boundaries of aesthetics and technology to challenge social and political conventions such as the police state and technofascism.

With the removal of Ari, a statue commemorating the sexual slavery of over 200.000 women at the hands of the Japanese military during WWII, Berlin once again enacts political censorship through the arts.

In 1992, the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan, began weekly Wednesday protests and to commemorate the 1000th protest, a public statue known as The Statue of Peace was installed opposite the Japanese embassy in Seoul. 

Ari, a sister to that statue, is a sculpture of a young woman created by the Korean artists Kim Seo-kyung and Kim Eun-sung located in the Berlin district of Moabit, until 18th of October 2025. The campaign in Germany seeks to put pressure on the Japanese government for acknowledgement and reparation while also drawing attention to the politicians in Germany that have pushed for her removal - Stefanie Remlinger (Green Party), and former Berlin mayor Kai Wegner to name but two.

We chart the history of this powerful movement, the relevance of its goals and strategies for contemporary Germany and the attempts of multiple politicians to relativize the specific crimes of the Japanese army in a manner that attempts to obscure the established pipeline between sexual abuse, anti-democratic efforts and the billionaire class.

A lecture by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, as part of the February 19th event: Conditions of Life Calculated to Destroy, Legal and Forensic Perspectives on the Ongoing Gaza Genocide - at bUm, Berlin.

The lecture was supposed to take place in a big lecture hall at Freie universitat, along with Eyal Weizman, director of Forensic Architecture. but the university cancelled the event after massive critique, amongst others from the Israeli ambassador, and from the mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, who called it antisemitic. The relocated event at bUm took place under police presence. A few days earlier, Albanese’s lecture at a University in Munich had also been cancelled, as we mentioned in Episode One.

From the Bantustans and townships of South Africa to the fractured lands of Palestine, overcoming apartheid has been a struggle across the lines of privilege.

Radio Against Repression is joined live in the studio by the artist Adam Broomberg. As a descendent of Jews who fled the Holocaust but benefited as whites from the apartheid regime in South Africa, Broomberg witnessed the subtle interweaving of Zionist and apartheid ideologies. Adam joins Radio Against Repression to discuss the complex paradoxes of twentieth-century diasporic communities during a period of upheaval that continues to inform the artist’s interrogation of photography’s power, complicity and banality.

It has been the most striking feature of current political repression in Germany: police brutalizing protesters with extreme force. Especially in Berlin, police violence against political dissidents has become a regular occurrence. But what is behind this violence?

Anabel from the Arrest Documentation Unit (ADU) will be joining R A R live in the studio to discuss the specific role and function that police violence fulfills within systemic state repression in Germany today, starting with the repression of Palestine solidarity and expanding from climate activism to the police violence against anti-AfD protesters in Gießen this weekend.

ADU is one of the publishers of the report Repression Against Palestine Solidarity in Germany, which describes in great detail the different forms of repression utilized by the German state against Palestine solidarity protesters.
