| 67. Comparing Podcast Downloads and Setting Benchmarks for Yourself | 19 Oct 2022 | 00:17:45 | |
We need to have a little talk about podcast downloads. Though they alone are not an indicator of your show's success, your podcast downloads do matter. Because, of course, we want to see them grow over time. If you tuned into last week's episode with Sara Marye, we went through every step of her podcast growth over the last 100 episodes of her show, and the time it took to hit 100k downloads. (And if you haven't listened yet, do that now! I'll wait. It's a REALLY good one with lots of behind-the-scenes info.) While you can't (and shouldn't) compare your downloads to anyone's but your own, this got me thinking that I wanted to do an episode today about podcast downloads - what we should consider and some benchmarks to create goals for ourselves. So without further ado, let's dive in! | 65. Why Your Listeners Aren't Converting (And What to Do About It!) | 05 Oct 2022 | 00:21:01
Quick question, why did you start your podcast? If you're reading this, then I can bet that you want your podcast to be a tool that drives more people to your products or services. But what do you do if you're seeing growth with your downloads but not necessarily seeing results? I get it; it can be really difficult to get a good grasp on the ROI you're getting from your show. Especially because it isn't always a straight line from listener to buyer (or email subscriber, Instagram follower, whatever you're aiming for). So today, we're going to talk about some reasons WHY your podcast listeners aren't converting and what you can do about it so you can better serve your listeners and your business. | 31. Can You Start a Podcast with a Small Audience? | 20 Apr 2022 | 00:24:23
Is your Instagram following small? Is your email list non-existent? Do you have a podcast but worry that nobody is listening? This episode is for you! It is absolutely possible to have a successful podcast, even if you don’t have a huge audience already in place. In fact, that’s how I started my podcast 6 months ago, and it has already grown 4X! It’s easy to feel inadequate when you see people on Instagram with thousands and thousands of followers. You may find yourself wondering how big your audience needs to be before you can launch a podcast, offer an online course, or open up a TpT store. Think quality over quantity. It’s better to have 500 engaged Instagram followers or 100 downloads a month from engaged podcast listeners than a huge number of people who are following you but not interacting or engaging. In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned from my experience starting a podcast 6 months ago with zero following and what I did to grow my show and my following at the same time. I am sharing my keys to success because I believe this is absolutely possible for you, too. My podcast has 100% helped my business, and I have definitely seen the ROI in having my show in these past 6 months. | 30. Why "Selling" On Your Podcast Doesn't Have to be Hard | 13 Apr 2022 | 00:24:58
How do you feel about selling? Does it make you cringe just thinking about it or are you totally comfortable with it? One of the main reasons you even started your podcasting journey is because you want to help people and build relationships with your audience. But it’s also totally okay to acknowledge that you’d like your podcast to make you some money. In episode 28, we talked about 3 ways to monetize your podcast, including creating a paid community, getting paid sponsors, and my favorite option, being your own sponsor. If you have a business, that means you have products, resources, online courses, memberships, or services that already exist, so I want you to view your podcast as a way to drive people to those paid offerings. In today’s episode, we will talk about how to sell your offerings on your podcast in a way that feels good to you. There are a lot of strong opinions about the best way to sell on both sides of the spectrum, from keeping your offerings a secret to selling 24/7. But there is a middle ground between these two opinions, and it is possible to promote your offerings on your show in a way that feels natural and gives your audience an opportunity to buy the products that they need. Just because you talk about your offerings on social media or share them with the people on your email list doesn’t mean the people who are listening to your show have seen your promotions. People need to hear about an offering 7-14 times before they take action and make a purchase. Your podcast is the perfect place to promote your offerings to your audience.
