This message is long overdue - apologies for the delay!

Given a lack of tangible support from our audience, be it in the form of engagement via email or support via Patreon, Thomas and Pax opted to close the doors on the story development department in 2024.

These things happen and that's okay:)  But given the large body of timeless, kid-friendly content created between 2019 and 2022, and the fact that new listeners show up every month, we've let the podcast exist so that all kids, worldwide, still have access to every story we've ever created.

That will never change and someday, kids that started listening to our show years ago will hopefully return with their own children to listen again.

But with story development in the rearview mirror, Tom and Pax turned their attention to their lifelong passion - MUSIC.   And now that they have wrapped up their new album, you will see some of the songs from that album appear here as new content.

If you would like the Planet Storytime Podcast to return to full story development, email us!   In our entire history, we've received 5 emails at planetstorytime@gmail.com.  We are downloaded in nearly 180 countries worldwide yet have only received 5 emails in our entire history.   If you want more stories - simply reach out and let us know!

We hope you enjoy the new music and songs!

Thank you!

Good day to everyone of our Planet Storytime fans!

Today we bring your a remix/remaster of 221, a song we released back in early 2022, as performed by Rubber Plane.    While the original has always been one of our favorites, it was in need of a facelift prior to the release of our new album (this will be the lead single off the new album - album details to follow in the weeks ahead.

221 is about coming together despite our differences.   It's about solidarity.

Now more than ever, we need to learn to accept each other, despite such stark differences in our beliefs.   Now more than ever we must seek to be ONE with our fellow humans and our planet.

Good cheer and humanhood to each and every one of us.

Tom and Pax

Season's Greetings from Planet Storytime!   Once again, it's been snowing here for weeks and it's extremely chilly!   But it hasn't been enough to keep us from knocking out stories as quickly as we can!

We wanted to share our first original Christmas story, The Story of Archie Ball, complements of guest author, Eudora Russell.

This is a wonderful Christmas story featuring the lost and out of place, Archie Ball, who finds himself amidst a long quest in search of purpose and meaning, narrated by Thomas Mitchell and featuring classic Christmas music produced by Paxton Stanley.   We sincerely hope you enjoy the story!

Greetings from Planet Storytime!

(While we continue development on the new Beatru stories and several other originals, we are proud to bring back one of our favorites, and one of TM Ganim's greatest stories, How The Bald Man Came To Be!)

IN this episode of the podcast, we are proud to present another original story by TM Ganim, How The Bald Man Came To Be.  This is a classic tale about the true definition of beauty and which traits make us a great person and which traits truly do not matter.

Also, we make use of music from one of the greats - Bedřich Smetana's, "Dance of the Comedians", from his comic opera, The Bartered Bride, arranged and adapted for our story by *Pax Stanley.

* all music except for "Reckoner's Theme" and "Pace of the Bald Men" (P Stanley), written by Bedřich Smetana;    ALL music arranged, recorded, edited and produced by Paxton Stanley.

Enjoy the show!

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

In this episode of the podcast, Thomas Mitchell and Paxton Stanley deliver one of L. Frank Baum's often overlooked classics, The Wonderful Pump, a story that dramatically illustrates how greed taints best possible outcomes and the crucial need to remain mindful when opportunity presents itself.   We also learn how pride built around one's perception of how the world views them is often a terrible pitfall.

We hope you enjoy it!

How did the camel get its hump anyway?   And how important is it to pull your own weight and to work hard in life?   In this Rudyard Kipling story, Thomas Mitchell seeks to answer these questions with yet another amazing example of his wonderful narration.
Paxton Stanley brings another gorgeous music soundtrack to this classic tale.

We hope you enjoy this remastered classic from our first season!

Greetings fellow, Planet Storytime Listeners!

It's been far too long since our team has provided the PSP Universe with a hard update on the state of the show, our future and plans for 2024.    For those of you who have been with us since the beginning back in the late summer of 2019, we salute and thank you!  Without your support, we wouldn't have a show!   For those of you just now achieving orbit around our planet, welcome!    We have much to discuss!

As many will attest, our production schedule since 2021 has been, at best, erratic.  There are many reasons for that including Covid-19, Thomas and Paxton's careers and family priorities, lack of funding (we're talking to you, generous listener!  SUBSCRIBE!), and the challenges associated with generating rich, new, content.

Our original goal for PSP was to build on the energy and vibe of Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street and The Electric Co. from the 1970s, meaning, yes, we tell stories, but occasionally we make weird music or share gorgeous poems.    Without demands from sponsors, we've been able to make this show whatever we wanted it to be.   Sometimes we hit the mark and other times, not so much, but that's okay because our focus has always been our listernship and a sincere hope that people understand we've always done this show with love in our heart with content that stirs up all kinds of pictures in one's head.

We will conitnue to run "re-runs" given that as our younger listeners grow and begin to focus on different kinds of content, new listeners show up every day.   Our stories are timeless - they are not dependent on current trends and.   There will always be someone's first time hearing Crow & Beetle.   But new content is what keeps the show sharp and thriving and more new content is coming!

For now, Paxton asked that we re-publish the full first act of The Beatru Chronicles as he's nearly completed the second act which should be published later this spring!

Originally apearing for the first time on 12/6/2020 as PSP34, The Beatru Chronicles tells of the adventures of Beatru, a young girl who wakes up from a dream to find that she's in a strange land with strange creatures and there begins the long journey for our heroine as she navigates this strange world in search of answers, a way back home, and perhaps a clear explanation for the disappearance of her parents.

We're excited for the upcoming release of Act II in the months ahead!   For now, enjoy Act I!

This episode features chapter markers in the podcast itself:

Chapter 1 - The Clearing
Chapter 2 - The River and the Turtle
Chapter 3 - Stampede
Chapter 4 - Colonel Rhys
Chapter 5 - Friends in High Places
Chapter 6 - Clarity and Purpose

Thank you!

Greetings, beloved denizens of Planet Storytime!

IN this episode of the podcast, we bring you an encore presentation of The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde, one of the world’s greatest writers.   This is the tale of a very selfish giant, his wonderful garden, the curious and playful village children, and, of course, the little child who changes the giant’s heart.  A beloved classic, The Selfish Giant may be Oscar Wilde’s greatest story of redemption and forgiveness.

Adapted for Planet Storytime by Thomas Mitchell with music by Pax Stanley.

Greetings!

Two years ago we released a series of podcasts for TM Ganim's, Livelong - Galaxy Hopper,  a 6-part series following the adventures of Livelong, “the good cloud,” who drifts from galaxy to galaxy to respond to those in need.

With narration from Thomas Mitchell and an amazing musical score and soundtrack from Dave Halverson, this complete edition of all six stories is a masterpiece of storytelling for listeners of all ages, and it's a lot of fun too.

We always anticipated releasing the full series and it's finally here!   Remember to make use of the chapter markers to navigate through all six episodes.

We hope you enjoy it!

Thank you!

Long time no talk, PSP listeners!

2022 was a big year of transition for most of our team and for a while we felt it was maybe time to move past the Planet Storytime Podcast.    But our subscriber base has continued to grow this year and we've decided to begin providing new content in 2023!

For now, we will be re-publishing our favorite episodes from the first three seasons of the show since many have not listened to those and because each story is timeless and worth checking out!   For those of you who have stayed with us from 2019 on, we thank you for your loyalty and for not giving up on us!   We promise to have exciting new content for you soon:)

Lastly, we are trimming out some of the intro section from each podcast so that folks can get directly to the actual story more quickly!

Yes, it's been a long time since we've published any episodes.   Covid finally caught up with members of our production team and did so at a time when we've been pondering the future of our podcast.    For now, our production schedule remains in a slow-down mode given circumstances somewhat out of control.    Regardless of our reduced production schedule, your support has not wavered even slightly - for that we, we thank you!

More material is coming in the near future, including a full stellar episode for all of the Livelong episodes!   But for now, we wanted to share the latest single from our friends, Rubber Plane!    "2 2 1" marks the first new single from Rubber Plane since their debut album premiered back in 2011.    This is a wonderful song and anthem about love and perserverence and tackling the toxicity of hate in our world.    We hope you enjoy it!

Thank you!

'Tis the season to be thankful!

Welcome back to the podcast!    We're happy to present our 3rd annual re-broadcast of the A Crow & Beetle Thanksgiving!

In this episode of the podcast, TM Ganim brings us another wonderful story about the need to have perspective in life when considering the numerous things all of us have to be thankful for, from the eyes of our old friends, Crow and Beetle:)    This is a great story packed full of great action, themes of comraderie and gratitude, and the need to be mindful of the always present, bigger picture.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our fans!

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We are pleased to be present you with a re-release of TM Ganim's classic, The Tale of the Pumpkin House!

October 28, 2019:

Who loves a good, scary Halloween story?

On Planet Storytime, the weather is starting to cool off, the leaves are changing colors, and holiday season is approaching!   Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, and we are pleased to present a great Halloween tale!   TM Ganim (author of "Crow and Beetle") provides us yet another instant classic with "The Tale of The Pumpkin House", a story that gives us ghosts, ghouls, witches and goblins, houses that have far more to them than meets the eye, and 8 amazing kitties!    If you want to know more, you'll just have to listen to this week's show:)

Thomas Mitchell and Paxton Stanley deliver another amazing production to accompany this thrilling, creepy tale.   We intend to continue developing more and more original content to accompany our development of the all-time classics from Kipling, the Grimm Bros. and many more.

You can reach out to us with suggestions, requests and questions by email at planet.storytime@gmail.com, and keep using your imagination to unlock the full power of your brain!

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

This week our intergalactic friends find themselves traveling to Planet Earth, where they meet Malcolm MacMinus. Helpful as always, Livelong and his faithful companion, Gonquik offer their friendship and guidance to young Malcolm, in an attempt to restore order to this stop in the universe before continuing their journey.

We appreciate everyone's patience after our fairly long break.   After two years of production, we needed a couple of months to regroup and refresh but we are back with much more coming your way in the weeks ahead.

We will continue to keep everyone up to date on our website and encourage each of you to take time to subscribe there:   https://planet-storytime-podcast.podsite.io/ .

We'll be back soon with another episode!

Thank you for your support!

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

In this episode of the podcast, we're featuring the amazing music of Dave Halverson, composer for all of the Livelong music.    Dave came onboard the podcast a few months ago and his work no Livelong is some of the best music you can hear anywhere, let alone a storytime podcast.   We are so lucky to have Dave on our team and hope you enjoy this awesome 3-track medley Dave put together.

With summer coming to a close we will be returning to a more robust publication schedule in September.   We truly hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the company of friends and family and look forward to jumping into YEAR 3 of the show with all of you onboard!

Yes - in less than 2 weeks, we will cross Planet Storytime's 2nd anniversary as a podcast and we think we - kind of - know what we are doing as we look into the third year of the show.    When we started out, we knew very little about what we were doing, but fairly quickly, we built an amazing, consistently loyal fanbase that seemed to enjoy our work, that has stuck with us from the beginning as many others have shown up along the way - we thank ALL of you for your support!

We have much more to share in the weeks ahead, including more Livelong, more of Mitchell's work, Beatru, Crow & Beetle, and more music from Dave Halverson and Pax Stanley!

Please send your comments, questions, love, hard dislike to planet.storytime@gmail.com and stay tuned to our website (https://planet-storytime-podcast.podsite.io/) as we get ready to start our blog  and increase interactivity with our fan base.

And hey - while you're there, why not subscribe?   We'd be very happy if you did:)

Much love and respect to everyone,

The PSP Team
Mitchell, Dave, Thomas and Paxton

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

This week we have the amazing third chapter from Livelong Galaxy Hopper!    This time around, our friends meet one of the most unique forces in the universe!!   We love the new Livelong stories and we truly love how TM Ganim's brain works and how well it ties to Dave Halverson's brain - this has been an awesome partnership and the latest episode may be the best one so far.

Thanks for your continued support!

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!!

We are very happy to present a long overdue STELLAR podcast, our first Stellar podcast in almost a year!   Our Stellar episodes have been some of our most popular and they’re awesome for long road trips, long walks with headphones, lazy days, rainy days, sick days and any other time our listeners need more than just one episode.

For this edition, we have bundled up our TOP 10 most popular episodes to date  (in reverse order):

1. Crow and Beetle (PSP4)
2. Stablefree, Equipoise and the Mud Cave Adventure (PSP21)
3. The Victor Surf Theme (PSP28)
4. The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher (PSP22)
5. The Misdirection - A Crow and Beetle Story (PSP26)
6. The Selfish Giant (PSP18)
7. The Queen Bee (PSP2)
8. The Emperor’s New Clothes (PSP24)
9. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (PSP32)
10. The Tale of Peter Rabbit (PSP1)

(TOTAL RUN TIME:  130 MINUTES!!)

And while this feature isn’t always easy to find on some podcast apps, each of these stories have been broken into separate chapters, allowing you to hone in on the particular episode you want to hear which may be helpful for such a long podcast:)

We have truly enjoyed going back to listen to some of these stories while pondering how far we have come as podcasters with content we believe is some of the best available for kids today.  With so much children’s content coming in the form of YouTube/Netflix/Disney videos, we remain firm believers that audio-only content helps spark a child’s creative imagination, empowering them to create the visuals in their minds that accompany our stories.

Big thanks to our listeners worldwide - you help push us to new levels of creativity, inspiring our original content and our newer serial/episodic stories with Beatru and Livelong.  And thank you for your endless support to this point!   We have so much in store for the remainder of the year so please stay subscribed and tuned in for more Livelong, Beatru and, hopefully, new Crow and Beetle stories!

Welcome back Planet Storytime!

On the heels of our wildly popular, Beatru Chronicles by JS Blue, we are excited to  launch another serial/episodic podcast series with TM Ganim’s, Livelong Galaxy Hopper!  Follow the adventures of Livelong, “the good cloud,” who drifts from galaxy to galaxy to respond to those in need.  Our pilot episode sets the stage for Livelong’s intergalactic saga and demonstrates how using our hearts allows each one of us to become galaxy hoppers, too!

Planet Storytime creators, Paxton Stanley and Thomas Mitchell and the rest of the PSP team are proud and honored to introduce a new member of our team-- musician, producer and engineer extraordinaire, Dave Halverson!    The addition of Dave to Planet Storytime opens the door for more collaboration and answers our fans’ requests for more frequent episodes!

Dave is amazing artist with nearly 30 years of experience making incredible music and steadily releasing his own gorgeous material and we encourage each and every one of you to check out his disography and history on his website:

Anyone in your family celebrating a birthday soon? Shoot us an email at planet.storytime@gmail.com and have Thomas Mitchell sing you happy birthday during that week’s episode! Welcome back to Planet Storytime!

We're busy in production for several new stories for upcoming podcasts, including a brand new story from Mitchell Von Gemmigen, who provided us the wonderful, Wilhelmina's Wonderous Wardrobe for PSP46!    Mitchell's new story will be out in the next week for PSP48.

But for this episode of the podcast, as we try to do at least a couple of times each season, we are proud to present the awesome theme song from our upcoming, much-anticipated new serial podcast series, The Livelong Journeys!   We've had so much fun working on The Beatru Chronicles - Act I  (all 6 chapters of which are available in PSP44!) and want to continue down that path with this amazing new epic from the mind of TM Ganim!    The first Livelong podcast will be out in a few weeks, so to give you some sense of the atmosphere and overall vibe, we thought the theme song would be a nice teaser for what's to come!

The "Livelong Theme Song" was written by TMG & the MBGG and produced by Paxton Stanley, with vocals by Thomas Mitchell, and performances by both Thomas and Pax.   This is a wonderful, groovy, upbeat kids pop song that we think everyone will really enjoy, and maybe by listening to the lyrics, you'll get some idea of the setting for our new story, and a bit more about our main character:)

Enjoy the new song and we will be back inside a week with the next Mitchell Von Gemmigen story (and look for Livelong towards the end of May!) - thanks!
