Mastering regressions and progressions of the Nordic Hamstring Curl with Adam Johnson13 Sep 202300:17:57

The pelvic tilt debate: a closer look with Dr. Alison Grimaldi17 May 202300:16:40

In this Episode, Alison takes us through the controversial topic of pelvic tilt and acetabulum loading in relation to a paper that was recently published (referenced below). She starts by guiding us through the dynamic assessment of pelvic tilt and how this can affect other structures around the hip joint. Exercise vs surgery for large rotator cuff tears with Jared Powell10 May 202300:17:00

We dive deep into what the study involves, its limitations and it’s results. Finally, Jared gives us some advice on how to best make these decisions with patients and how to have those harder conversations with patients who are very surgery focused.

Jared is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist from the Gold Coast, Australia. He has an interest in the shoulder joint and is currently studying for a PhD in this area. Meniscectomy vs physio for meniscal tears with Dr Travis Pollen03 May 202300:16:28

In this episode, Dr Travis Pollen takes us through a recent research review he did for Physio Network exploring younger patients with a traumatic mensical injury. We look at the results of a recent paper comparing those who had surgery and those who had physiotherapy. Interestingly the results at two years were very similar but this opened up a lot of questions and nuance about what happens within that two years.

Dr Travis Pollen is a personal trainer and has a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences (Drexel University). He also holds a master’s degree in Biomechanics and Movement Science (University of Delaware). His research interests focus on movement screening, injury risk appraisal, and return to play testing in athletes.

We discuss the definition of long standing adductor groin pain and then go into depth of the return to play indicators/tests e.g. strength, performance testing and sport specific skills. 

Stacey is a physical therapist and athletic trainer specialising in the treatment of high performing athletes, most recently in Major League Soccer. Her clinical interests include preventative and rehabilitation strategies in the elite athlete, especially of the lumbopelvic hip complex.

Dr Chen completed her PhD at the University of Queensland in 2017 on neck pain in office workers. She has since transitioned to clinical and educational work with special interests in those with chronic pain and fatigue, dysautonomia, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders.

Julia is a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Queensland. She has been researching neck pain since 2000 and in 2004 completed her PhD focusing on the necks influence on sensorimotor control. She has continued her research in this area in idiopathic neck pain, headache, and post-concussion. Julia works part-time as a physiotherapist in a private practice managing patients such as those with, whiplash, cervicogenic dizziness and post-concussion syndrome.

Val has over 20 years experience. She is the lead physiotherapist for shoulder and elbow conditions in Sheffield and works closely with the nationally recognised upper limb surgeons.
