| Episode 259 Syncing Up! | 28 Jan 2026 | 00:29:09 | |
This week on The People Centric Podcast, we talk about what happens when a team gets out of sync and how to bring alignment back. Misalignment does not usually come from bad intentions. It comes from missed conversations, unclear priorities, and not having shared visibility into what is happening.
We break down why real alignment requires at least two people actively contributing to the conversation, not just one person talking. We also talk about the importance of intentional time together, clear meeting agendas, and simple tools that help everyone see progress, priorities, and decisions.
From the employee perspective, we explore how to speak up and re engage when things feel unclear. From the manager perspective, we talk about how to design meetings and workflows that create alignment instead of confusion. And from the executive perspective, we discuss how visibility and clarity help teams stay connected as work scales.
Alignment is not a one time event. It is something teams have to build and maintain together.

| Episode 258 Pit Crew Problem Solving | 21 Jan 2026 | 00:35:10 | |
This week on The People Centric Podcast, we talk about a powerful real world example of problem solving done well. A medical team brought in a Formula One pit crew to review their process, improve efficiency, and reduce errors. And it worked.
We break down why this story matters beyond healthcare. Great problem solving is not just about having the right answer. It starts with recognizing there is a problem and actually wanting to solve it. From there, it takes collaboration, curiosity, and sometimes inviting in outside perspectives that see things differently than you do.
From the employee perspective, we talk about speaking up when something is not working. From the manager perspective, we discuss creating space for collaboration and new ideas. And from the executive perspective, we explore why fresh insights and outside help can be a strength, not a weakness.
Better problem solving is possible when people are willing to look honestly at their work and stay open to learning from others.

| Episode 249 The Management Cycle: Observe, Feedback, Ownership, Action | 29 Oct 2025 | 00:36:00 | |
Effective management isn’t a mystery—it’s a cycle. In this episode, we break down what we call the management cycle: observe, give feedback, determine ownership, then coach or hold accountable. It’s a simple framework that helps leaders stay focused, fair, and people centric.
Employees will gain insight into how great managers make decisions and support growth. Managers will learn how to apply this cycle consistently to build trust and drive performance. Executives will reflect on how this approach scales across teams and aligns with organizational values.
And through every step of the cycle, one thing remains constant: the connection point is people.

| Episode 159 The Pain of Poor Communication | 08 Nov 2023 | 00:35:59 | |
We know that communication is the thing that all companies, managers, and coworkers struggle with. It is the number one thing that employees say needs improvement in all the organizations we work with. But if you think about it, simply saying that we need to improve communication is pretty vague. There is no real "communication standard" that people work within, there are no real communication expectations or even really best practices out there. So, how can people know if communication is good or not? And what happens when communication is not good? Listen now to hear the People Centric team discuss what we see when communication breaks down and some things we see from the best communicators.

| Episode 156 Are you Coachable? | 18 Oct 2023 | 00:36:28 | |
Giving feedback is always a challenge for leaders - but RECEIVING feedback is just as difficult. No one wants to hear the things they are doing wrong, but most people do want to do good work. One of the best ways to ensure that you are able to receive and apply the feedback you are given is to build a coachable mindset. On today's episode of the People Centric Podcast, Bethany Taff and Diana Royalty discuss the traits that limit or excel a person's willingness to be coached.

| Episode 155 Lead Them Well | 11 Oct 2023 | 00:43:54 | |
It should come as no surprise to you that People Centric has our own definition of leadership. We say that leadership is, simply, influence. And that means that everyone is a leader because everyone is influencing someone all the time - whether you realize it or not. Furthermore, most people hear the words "Influence" and "leadership" and we instantly think they are positive things. But on this episode of the People Centric Podcast we examine how people can lead others positively and negatively. We break down the moments in which negative leadership happens and what it looks like to Lead Well.

| Episode 154 Managing Oversharing Managers | 04 Oct 2023 | 00:38:57 | |
In our episode about transparency (and when to not be totally transparent), we touched on the topic of a manager oversharing information with employees. Your manager is just a person, and people get overwhelmed, or conflict avoidant, or have a bad day, or are unconfident about how to move something forward - and people can start to overshare things with people that have no power or authority to fix them. And that is what the People Centric Team talks about in this episode of the People Centric Podcast. When a manager brings problems to an employee in an unhealthy way, what is the expectation of that employee, how should that employee react, and what can managers do to avoid this situation entirely? Listen now for our thoughts on this all too common interaction.

| Episode 153 Transparently, Not Totally Transparent | 20 Sep 2023 | 00:30:21 | |
People Centric are advocates for transparency in the workplace! We say that communication should go top to bottom, bottom to top, side to side, and everywhere in between. We say that employers should be open, and vulnerable, and even share financials with employees. But we admit that there are times when total transparency is a bad idea. So, in an effort to be transparent with you all, the People Centric team laid out the times when a company or manager can't or shouldn't be totally transparent.

| Episode 152 Adult Learning and Teaching at Work | 13 Sep 2023 | 00:37:59 | |
Adults learn differently than kids. When we are kids we absorb information, and since we have little experience with the world, we need a lot of guidance and supervision. As adults, we need so much more: we need to be able to connect our past experiences to the new ones, we need autonomy to problem solve, we need the ability to process and take time away from learning to absorb and solidify the information in our minds, we need the information to be relevant and timely - and the list goes on. In this episode of the People Centric Podcast, the team breaks down how adult learning theory affects our training at work and even how we feel about learning new things at work.

Have you heard someone complaining about how no one is "Loyal" these days? In the US the average length a person stays in a job is 4 years. This average decreases when you look specifically at Gen Z and Millenials - whose average is 2 and 2.5 years, respectively. In this episode, the People Centric team explores what it means to be "loyal" to a company in today's workforce and the implications of loyalty on an individual and a team. Listen now! | Episode 248 AI "Workslop" | 22 Oct 2025 | 00:33:56
AI tools are everywhere now, but are we using them wisely? In this episode, we talk about the rise of “AI workslop,” the messy, impersonal output that can result when we rely too heavily on automation without human discernment. We explore why the human element still matters and how thoughtful use of AI can enhance, not replace, good work.
From the employee perspective, we discuss how AI can support productivity without sacrificing authenticity. Managers will hear how to guide teams in using AI responsibly. Executives will reflect on the strategic balance between innovation and intentionality.
At the center of it all is a reminder: technology is powerful, but people are irreplaceable.

| Episode 147 Measuring People’s Productivity | 09 Aug 2023 | 00:39:06 | |
We have all seen someone who we KNOW is just playing solitaire on their computers, but they use a focused face and LOOK super engaged in their "work" - and let's face it, you have probably done that a time or two yourself. They often use things like, "my employees look busy" as a measure of this productivity. | Executive Presence | 28 Jun 2023 | 00:44:54
The phrase "executive presence" probably conjures up images of someone standing at the front of a table or at a large wooden desk wearing a dark grey suit. You might even think that this person is decisive, or an innovator. These traits are often assigned to someone with "executive presence", but did you know that a study of executives' characteristics by Gallup Strengths Finder showed that there is not a magical combination of traits that make up an executive? We discuss this and what the People Centric team has seen that makes up a good executive on this episode.

| Dealing With Bad Ideas | 21 Jun 2023 | 00:39:37 | |
Bad ideas exist. We would venture to guess that you have been in a meeting where a bad idea was dropped. OR you have had to execute an idea that you think is terrible. A bad idea refers to a concept, plan, or decision that is considered unwise, ineffective, or potentially harmful. It may be based on flawed reasoning, insufficient information, or a lack of consideration for potential consequences. We discuss that what may be considered a bad idea in one situation could potentially lead to positive outcomes in another. Ideas can be subjective, and the assessment of whether an idea is good or bad often depends on the specific circumstances, goals, and values involved. Listen to this episode to find out more! | The Shadow You | 14 Jun 2023 | 00:36:09
In the field of psychology, "the shadow" refers to a concept developed by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. Jung believed that the human psyche is composed of various components, including the ego (conscious mind) and the personal unconscious. Within the personal unconscious lies what he called the shadow. The shadow represents the aspects of our personality that we tend to reject, deny, or repress. It consists of the parts of ourselves that we deem unacceptable, undesirable, or socially unacceptable. These can include our fears, insecurities, aggressive tendencies, selfishness, and other traits that we find difficult to acknowledge or integrate into our conscious identity. In this episode of the People Centric podcast we share how the Shadow shows up at work and what you can do to avoid these negative connotations and work toward the brightest version of yourself. | There’s No Crying In Business | 07 Jun 2023 | 00:29:22
Every time I hear the phrase "It's just business, it isn't personal" I cry. Because BUSINESS IS PERSONAL - we spend our time here, we work hard here, and we want to do well here. So to say that giving my time and energy and effort isn't personal is pretty crummy. But what happens when we feel sad or mad or frustrated at work? Is it ok to have emotions at work? Is it ok to cry at work? Is it ok to say that you are mad at work? We talk about all of this and more on this episode of the People Centric Podcast.

| Employee Experience > Customer Experience | 31 May 2023 | 00:39:35 | |
For many years the phrase "The customer is always right" has been something that managers have touted and employees have rolled their eyes at. And even more recently, in light of the entitled customer era, the customer is most definitely not always right. In this episode of the People Centric Podcast we talk about why it is more important to focus on the Employee Experience and not the customer experience, because, after all - the employees are the ones who make the experience for the customer. | Servant Leadership and the Boop Battle | 17 May 2023 | 00:35:43
In theory, servant leadership sounds like every employee's dream. Servant leadership is a style in which a leader focuses on serving and supporting their team, rather than directing and telling. Servant leaders often listen and collaborate and take on whatever is best for the team. So what could possibly go wrong?! We will tell you: Accountability. And while Accountability gets a bad rap from everyone in the workplace, it is essential to creating a culture where people are happy, healthy, aligned, and empowered. Listen to this episode to find out more about how servant leadership can serve you and your team!

| Tech Centric vs. People Centric | 10 May 2023 | 00:41:25 | |
We have often said that one good outcome of the pandemic is that people embraced virtual meetings and video conference technology. The People Centric team was using this long before the pandemic began and we had several clients that just didn't want to adopt this technology. But when the pandemic hit many technology-resistant clients, friends, and coworkers adopted it quickly and effectively. Since then, we have all had days with back-to-back zoom calls, video-called a coworker who was just in the other room, and (we know you have done this) turned off our cameras just to have a second to rest our eyes. And now, employers are calling for a return to the office even though we all know we can do our jobs virtually with a high degree of success. We wondered if it is possible to be technologically efficient and still People Centric. Is there a world where technology can integrate with people and relationships healthily and sustainably?

| The Problem Solving Problem | 19 Apr 2023 | 00:45:48 | |
Employers often say that they want "good problem solvers" or people with "problem-solving skills" but when we ask them what they mean by that the answers vary wildly. And when we ask employees how they feel they are at problem-solving, they always say that they are good at it. When we ask them if they are given opportunities to problem solve they say, "rarely"! This is a problem-solving problem. Employers want it and employees have it, but the chances to use it are few and far between. In this episode, we discuss some ideas about how employees can take the reigns more and how managers can get out of the way to access those in-demand problem-solving skills!

| Making Training Stick | 12 Apr 2023 | 00:40:28 | |
We have all had to learn new things in our job. It might be a new software or new program, but sometimes new things stick easier and sometimes we forget them instantly and have to ask a ton of questions again. When we are the ones teaching new information, we always think that we are clear and understandable, and it is frustrating when - inevitably - someone comes back and says, "I don't understand" or "I didn't do it that way". So what makes us learn at work? What are the things that stick and the things that don't? Why do we instantly pick up on some things, but not all things? In this episode, we discuss the best ways to make training impactful and tips for how you can be a better student AND a better teacher at work!

| The Skills Gap | 15 Mar 2023 | 00:37:17 | |
Have you ever heard of this so-called "Skills Gap"? It often coincides with a survey done with leaders, where leaders state the skills that they feel the workforce is missing. The studies then go on to list the top technical and top soft skills that are missing from teams. We hear about these things and have to address the elephant in the room: the skills that are "missing" from teams are generally not missing, but those skills are being squashed by bad management. We discuss the skills gap and more in this episode.
