In this episode, I delve into my personal journey with social media, particularly Instagram.

This is the first of a two part episode that introduces my reasons for leaving InstaGram, my reasons for coming back and my conclusions after 7 months.

I discuss my decision to step away from the platform two years ago due to its impact on my health and well-being. I've decided to return, but with a new approach. I'm exploring how to maintain a minimalist brand presence, focusing on connection and authenticity rather than followers and likes. This experiment is about finding a way to use Instagram that aligns with my values and doesn't compromise my well-being.

"In my daily life, I play numerous roles, including that of a mom, spouse, entrepreneur, friend, student, teacher, and patient. Each of these personas demands specific attention and care. Without a clear plan of action, I would often feel overwhelmed, struggling to prioritize tasks effectively.

The big question on this episode is; How do we bend time our way? Can we make more of it so we can get out of overwhelm and stress. I’ve invited my friend and coach Kim Witten because she’s the perfect partner for a hilarious but insightful journey through linguistics and philosophy. Which are all fancy words for we have a lot of fun figuring out an the issue of never having enough time and how to deal with it. 

In this episode Kim and I give you a three step process for getting out of the thick of it. So you can reach out of the overwhelm storm and grabbing onto something practical and steady. 
By managing energy and being intentional about how we use our time. We discuss the importance of pausing, assessing, and setting rituals to get into the mindset of bending time to our needs. 

I share how I optimised my day by discovering my natural circadian rhythm and finding what energises me. Kim emphasises the importance of managing energy over time and gives examples of how she rearranged her day to align with her energetic peak. 

We do metaphors like no other but they all lead to pretty solid insights. So hang on for a fun ride.

As you might have heard in the last episode I did with my friend Zoe Edwards, A Smaller Life is evolving into a podcast that is similar but a bit different. In this episode we’re flipping things around. Kathleen Kettles, one of the most enthusiastic members of the Ja, Wol community and a podcaster herself is interviewing me.

Her podcast ‘In conversation with Kathleen’ is all about how her guests define success. I was invited and I loved the atmosphere of this conversation so much that I wanted to share it with you as well.

The main topic is my motto, “Progress over Perfection”, and we'll be discussing the importance of embracing imperfection and focusing on progress rather than perfection.

It's easy to get caught up in striving for the perfect everything in all areas of our life, But it can it can lead to anxiety, self-doubt, and inaction. We'll be exploring ways to take action towards our goals, even if it means making mistakes along the way.  We'll discuss the value of surrounding ourselves with a supportive community, celebrating our accomplishments, and being proud of how far we've come, even if the journey was difficult.

Additionally, we'll dive into the impact that we can have on others by sharing our knowledge and experiences and being open to learning from them as well.

I get a little bit more personal in this one, so I hope you like that. Grab your yarn, your needles or your dog or your laundry or whatever you wanna do, and enjoy our talk.

Before The Holland Wool Collective came along, tons of wool was going to waste. There was a gap between people who had wool, people who processed it into a usable product, and wholesalers or designers who needed the material.

Farmers in the Netherlands needed more options as far as who to send their wool to; there wasn’t anyone gathering that material to send it to be processed it into usable medium– like felt or yarn. At least, not until Janne de Hoop and her partner Mirthe Snoek came along.

Within a week of launching their website, they had received at least 30 calls from sheep farmers with wool to get rid of. Still in the early stages, Janne from the Hollands Wol Colletief gives us a sneak-peek into what goes on behind the scenes in this start-up cooperative that utilizes what, in the past, was going to waste. What a joy to have her with us!

We talk about taxes, balancing work life and personal life, launching a company with a friend, and figuring things out as you go.
