| Passion for the Pastime: Beginnings and Endings | 21 Aug 2020 | 00:52:08 | |
On this episode of Passion for the Pastime, we will be looking at a key debut for the San Francisco Giants. As rookies across the league make their first starts, some may be making their last starts. For their current teams that is. The ever so mysterious trade deadline is only days away and with some much to be determined, there is no telling how this deadline will go down. Names have been rumored and teams who can be buyers and sellers, if there is any major action at all in this already strange season.
| Passion for the Pastime: Unwritten Rules | 18 Aug 2020 | 00:25:29 | |
Its time to talk baseball. In this episode, we remember Roberto Clemente on what would have been his 86th birthday. Also, we will look at the player closest to replicate Clemente's unique style, in Fernando Tatis Jr. as he has now opened the door of baseball's unwritten rules.
| Passion for the Pastime: For the Record | 14 Aug 2020 | 00:39:47 | |
The wild west just got wilder. With Mookie Betts heating up and writing the record books, Charlie Blackmon looks to write some history of his own. Will the public look at any accomplishments in 2020 as less than? We are talking records, Mookie's greatness and playoff bubbles. Yes that is now a thing.
| Passion for the Pastime: A Wild Weekend | 10 Aug 2020 | 00:48:42 | |
To say this weekend was just another normal weekend would do a disservice to the game. This weekend had everything. Upsets, great games, long balls you name it. Even weird things like losing a no-hitter due to brightness, in a night game. Oh and a player being sent home, like he was a bad kid in school for breaking the rules. Even a heated discussion in Oakland, which at first doesnt seem like much, until you look at the grand picture, and take into account who the teams were. This weekend was just a reminder of how unpredictable sports truly can be.
| Passion for the Pastime: A look around the League | 07 Aug 2020 | 00:44:27 | |
We are talking everything baseball past as we reflect on 756 with Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aaron's HR record. We will also look at the present state of baseball with the Cardinals testing postive again, what that means for them and baseball as well as looking at other series all around the league.
| Passion for the Pastime: Buying or Selling | 05 Aug 2020 | 00:59:23 | |
2 weeks in and baseball is in full swing, sort of. Teams havent skipped a beat amid Covid, some even exceeding expectations. Is it too early to tell about what these teams will be? Oakland, Rockies, Padres, Cubs, and South side White Sox are hot teams with the expected Dodgers, Twins and Yankees, but which teams are you buying and selling. Teams that were shut down will be returning to games by the end of the week and it is a much needed restart to baseball. Andrew McCutchen felt some type of way about the way the Marlin's outbreak went down. Derek Jeter gives us answers to the Marlins outbreak but is anyone buying it? Albert Pujols continues his historic chase and much more on this episode of the podcast.
| Passion for the Pastime: Weekend Recap | 03 Aug 2020 | 01:02:19 | |
We have alot to get to in this one. From Opt Outs to Walk Offs. From Covid updates to chasing history. It is all here on the latest episode of Passion for the Pastime.
| Passion for the Pastime: Hero or Zero | 30 Jul 2020 | 00:43:25 | |
Is someone who intentionally throws at a batter a hero? In this case, it depends who you ask. Joe Kelly threw at the Astros in response to their recent sign stealing scandal, and you either hate it or you love it. Regardless of how you feel, baseballs punishment sent a clear message. None of this will happen during the pandemic, or maybe even ever because of how hung up Manfred is on protecting the Astros. This next one isn't up for debate, the Marlins player who exposed his team, is a zero. As the Marlins are sitting in a hotel in Philly, that player should receive a suspension, if the league is all about "safety" and "setting a precedent". More baseball news as the star of the 2020s arms battle made his MLB debut, vs a star from the 2010s, who has struck out his teammates dad. All that and more.
| Passion for the Pastime: The Outbreak | 27 Jul 2020 | 00:17:45 | |
With the good news, come bad news. Baseball returned to our tv screens, but no one is immune to Covid-19, as players from the Marlins organization have tested positive for Covid. At first it was four, now it is an upward of 14 players and staff. Mlb has responded by cancelling games of the Marlins- Orioles and Phillies-Yankees, in order to protect their players. Phillies -Yankees was cancelled due to the Marlins recently being in the visiting ballpark at Citizens Bank Park, were the Phillies would play host to the Yankees. If you were uncertain about the season before, now more uncertainty looms over baseball as the dark cloud of Covid-19 has taken away the little bit a sunlight we had this weekend. Stay tuned for more updates.
| Passion for the Pastime: Return of the Big Fly | 27 Jul 2020 | 00:46:38 | |
The first weekend of baseball is in the books and i never realized how much I've missed the big fly. Well we were spoiled with homeruns last season, but a couple of the big flys have been majestic, you can't help but admire them. Stanton got the party started and kept it going. It seems like every homerun hit this year has a different sound and go 450 plus. There was also the return to the mound with Otahni taking the mound for the first time since 2018. I think he may have forgotten how to pitch because he couldn't even get one out. Finally, Covid news, as more players around the league are testing postive, with a possible outbreak with the Miami Marlins. Now the question can be asked, how many is enough?

| Passion for the Pastime: One Down, Sixty-six to Go | 24 Jul 2020 | 00:42:24 | |
The first day of the regular season did not disappoint one bit. We had a first pitch that summed up 2020 as a whole. Rain storms and floods, debuts of Cole and Mookie, and proof that Pennywise may exist. This is only the first of many strange days of the 2020 season. I'm just lucky to be alone for the ride.
| Passion for the Pastime: A Day to Remember | 23 Jul 2020 | 00:57:33 | |
We have made it! It is finally Opening Day. After waiting for month for the start of the season. No this is not a dream. It is reality and with that reality comes changes. Our world, our game looks a little different in 2020. Amid Covid-19 and social inequality, this season will surely be one to remember. Blue Jays are homeless, no fans, players kneeling, new season format and rule changes. This season will defiantly look and feel different. I think i speak for everyone when I say, I cant wait to see what this season brings. I mean it has already brought some money to Mookie Betts bank account, as he will call LA his home for the next 13 years, and the season hasn't officially started yet. If that doesn't get you excited, you might want to check your pulse.
| Passion for the Pastime: Stand for what is Right | 21 Jul 2020 | 00:33:06 | |
Its ironic that during these times, some say, stand for what is right. What is i told you, by kneeling, it is standing up. Is it a hard concept to grasp. Do people just not want to listen. Bruce Maxwell tried it a few years ago in 2017, and not all but some booed him for it. Now fast forward to 2020, on that very same field, players along with Gabe Kapler, manager of the San Francisco Giants, took a knee to stand up for social inequality and police brutality. Again we have these conversations, because this isn't an overnight fix. In this showing, there are sides for and against. Not all players took a knee, but those who didn't did speak out on why and also stating that doesn't mean there aren't for the cause. It did show unity, it showed that players and managers alike have respect for one another. MLB backed its players, with so much backlash all over social media. To show a strong united front is what the country needs right now. This not the first showing, and it definitely will not be the last. Today I tell you, I am proud to be a baseball fan.
| Passion for the Pastime: Opening Week Update | 20 Jul 2020 | 00:31:43 | |
With Opening Week upon us, we are only a few days away from the start of the regular season. As the day is coming closer, some last minute changes for mlb clubs. Some approved and others denied. But if a team needs to relocated, how important is home field with no fans? Update for players with Covid, the former Atlanta Brave, Yasiel Puig has tested positive and will no sign with the Braves. So was he even a Brave? Speaking of Braves and Covid, Freddy Freeman spoke out on his experience with Covid, and it was a powerful message. While all this news happend, we did have a peak into what 2020 baseball will look like as intrasquad games and exhibition games were broadcasted. No fans, cuts outs, pumped in sound noise and walk up songs.
| Passion for the Pastime: Home Sweet Home? | 17 Jul 2020 | 00:25:46 | |
With Opening Day just one week away, a superstar outfielder has finally found a home. Yasiel Puig will be heading to the ATL, joining the Braves. If Jermaine Dupri's "Welcome to Atlanta" isn't Puig's walk up song in his first at bat of the season, I will be very, very disappointed. Good for Puig on finding a home. Not all can be said for a few clubs, facing certain uncertainty entering into the final week before the season begins. Multiple teams due to Covid response may need to relocate, including the season's first game between the Yankees and Nationals in DC. With Covid surging, it makes the season start look uncertain, but MLB is continuing forward amid the circumstances. So we will at least have a start to the season, so might as well try to win some cash while we can, as MLB.com is holding a Opening Day Pick em' where you can possible win $100,000. Count me in!
| Passion for the Pastime: MLB Covid-19 Update and Player Opt Outs | 13 Jul 2020 | 00:56:56 | |
We have made it through another week of summer camp and that puts baseball fans one week closer to the start of the season. Before we get there , we have some Covid-19 updates. MLB released their stats on Covid testing since testing started on June 27th. 83 total positive cases since then, with 66 something from the initial intake testing and only 17 since then. A large number but it all depends on how MLB moves forward to keep the virus from spreading. It wont be a easy road but it isn't impossible. With testing and life challenges, players continue to Opt out, most notably Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants. Everyone is trying to adjust to the new normal. North of the border, Blue Jays are to enforce fines and punishments to any player who violates quarantine restrictions. In the Bay area, Matt Chapman preps for no fans in 2020, something he says he is actually already normal to. Nonetheless, MLB will continue to transform as we move closer to Opening Day, which is only two weeks away. Enjoy!
| Passion for the Pastime: Dropping the Ball | 07 Jul 2020 | 00:39:15 | |
Baseball has returned for Summer camp and not even a week in, there are problems across the board with Covid testing. Testers not showing up, tests results being delayed, long wait periods between testing, making all who are involved at ask. Sure, problems were expected, its a new process, but MLB really needs to kick it into gear before more players opt out. Will more players opting out each day, those who are on the fence, may be leaning away from the game, than toward playing. If MLB can figure it out, because all problems are fixable, we do have a schedule. With some key must watch matchups, you can only hope the season gets played. But MLB must make it safe for everyone. The clock is ticking.
| Passion for the Pastime: A New Beginning | 03 Jul 2020 | 00:46:44 | |
Teams are back home and ready to begin Summer Camp. As ball park cams show us the workouts and batting practice, you cant help but get excited for baseball to finally be back. But i guess we missed some baseball along the way. As some players played in a sandlot style game during quarantine. Thanks for the memo. But as we await to release of the 2020 schedule to be released next week, we have some things to address. Blue Jays will be in Toronto for Summer Camp, but where will they play their regular season? National league now has the DH, which has been a topic of conversation for years, and it may be here to stay. Safety protocols that will change the look of the game in the pandemic era of baseball and much much more. 2020 has been rough, but this season will be one to remember.
| Passion for the Pastime: One Time at Summer Camp.... | 01 Jul 2020 | 00:40:42 | |
Spring Training 2.0 is HERE! Or should I say Summer Camp? Whatever you want to call it, the bottom line is that baseball is back. It defiantly won't look the same. No I don't mean camp fires and smores. I mean the among of top prospects joining the rosters. We are expected to see some of the top talent at some point this season and that just adds to the excitement if you weren't jumping for joy to begin with. With Covid still surging, some are skeptical that there will even be a season. Not all players will be at camp, as some have already opted out of the season. One being Ian Desmond who left a powerful message on Instagram on he reason for not returning. There will be more like Desmond that opt out, as the season nears. We need to remember these athletes are people first. Finally, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Negro Leagues, and I hope you all join with me as I tip my cap for all those who came before us, that paved the way.
| Passion for the Pastime: Guess Who's Back | 24 Jun 2020 | 00:50:20 | |
Baseball is back! Words that I think we all thought we wouldn't hear in 2020. But baseball is back. It wasn't pretty, it still isn't but at least we will have baseball again. Some changes coming to baseball this year is the universal DH and a big one is the new extra innings rule. I mean we have to have something to argue about don't we?Moving forward ,players will return to team camps by next week and Opening Day will be July 24. We all know the challenges facing baseball with Covid-19, and that is still a big factor in determining if the season will move forward. For now we will look forward and prepare for the 2020 season, reevaluate our baseball draft boards, and rejoice in that fact that, baseball is back. We can only hope, that it is here to stay.

| Passion for the Pastime: So Long Baseball | 16 Jun 2020 | 00:24:11 | |
It is becoming more and more evident that the 2020 MLB season will be cancelled. I don't know about you but I am extremely disappointed that these people who represent America's Pastime, can figure out how to bring joy to fan again.
| Passion for the Pastime: The Future of Baseball | 10 Jun 2020 | 00:39:04 | |
The future of baseball are looked at in two different lights right now. How will baseball get a season done and how will life be after Covid-19 as well as the 2020 MLB Draft. We will focus on the draft mostly, seeing how MLB is trying to keep up with NFL and even NBA draft skeptical. Also looking at who can possible be the next Mike Trout or Justin Verlander. The new format and how it will effect baseball for years to come. But how can we figure out the future when the league cant decide if they will play at all this year. A lot to cover, lets get to it.
| Passion for the Pastime: Listen Up | 08 Jun 2020 | 00:42:37 | |
It is time to listen everyone. Not just to the podcast but to everyone who is asking for your help. The black community, black lives matter are willing to educate but it takes too to tango. Major league baseball may be behind in the times but many players are not. They are becoming leaders, becoming listeners, educating themselves and others. For too long we have been divided and if this truly is America's pastime, follow the players example of being the change.
| Passion for the Pastime: Enough is Enough | 04 Jun 2020 | 00:26:44 | |
Before we get to sports discussion, there is something else we need to talk about. Due to recent events of police brutality and protesting as a result, I have decided to pull away from regular sports talk and open up the discussion. Enough is enough and I am speaking for those who need to be heard. Welcome to the conversation and lets get through this together. It may make you uncomfortable and thats ok. Now think about the injustices done every day and how uncomfortable they feel. Now is the time to stop and listen, educate and take action. Like many athletes, baseball players, some of which are your children's heroes or maybe even your own. They are leading by example. The time is now.
| Passion for the Pastime: Across the Counter | 02 Jun 2020 | 00:26:01 | |
Baseball's clock is ticking and this is the week. Baseball owners and players know it, as we have already seen more counter proposals being introduced. If something was to happen it is this week. The MLBPA and owners are discussing money but in the form of games to be played because owners latest counter has said full prorated salaries but with much less game than the 114 games proposed by MLBPA. This is progressing in the right direction, but how do you feel of a season as long as 50 games. Does the champion of this season have any legitimate standing if it happens and does it ruin the legitimacy of the game for you. Or do you want the game back so much, that you are willing to overlook all of it.
| Passion for the Pastime: Crunch Time | 27 May 2020 | 00:30:37 | |
We are now at the end of May and still, no deal has been reached between Owners and Players to begin the season. There is still time for a deal to be done, but the clock is ticking. Many of us can imagine baseball not being played in 2020 but its starting to be a bigger possibility with each passing day. A new proposal was made to the Players association and it is not looking promising, with some players speaking out that there may not be baseball this season. Its a bad look in these times to be arguing about millions of dollars, but it is a necessary argument. Baseball must be careful because they don't want a repeat of 94', which turned off baseball for a lot of fans. All we can do is stay hopeful that a deal is done. Its crunch time and the clock is ticking.
| Passion for the Pastime: Last Dance- Baseball Edition | 20 May 2020 | 00:48:59 | |
While we are staying home, with no sports, we are always looking for something to watch. The Last Dance, a documentary on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, has been a saving grace through these hard times. Now we are itching for more. On this podcast, the fans decided on topics you would like to see turned into a Last Dance style documentary, and here are the results as well as some historic curses, I would love to see in a documentary.

| Passion for the Pastime: The War Begins | 15 May 2020 | 00:48:03 | |
As we all wait for sports to resume, there may be some obstacles in the way. Baseball is no different. With health and safety at the forefront of the conversations being hand with MLB and the Players association, the financial impact is also a big topic and a big hurdle to overcome. Here is a look at the proposed plan for MLB to continue in 2020. Will a deal be struck? We all hope so, but the clock is ticking, if we want to have baseball in 2020.

| Passion for the Pastime: Return of baseball.... Sort of | 08 May 2020 | 00:44:08 | |
Players league has it's first champion and the Dream bracket as crowns the ultimate franchise. Are you tired of baseball simulations and want to watch some real baseball. Well your prayers have been answered, but next time be more specific. Base has indeed returned, but no state side. Rather, it has returned in South Korea in the KBO. A ten team league has returned. Interesting enough that MLB has proposed three, ten team leagues to somewhat mirror that of the KBO. KBO baseball is in its first week, and everything is going smoothly for now. The sound of the ball hitting the bat has never sounded better, especially in empty stadiums where it sounds like a riffle being shot. I know it isn't we wanted, but in these times you will learn to take what you can and roll with it. But I will say, with recent talk of a proposal of a solution to come soon for MLB, said to be within a week, watching the KBO may not be a bad idea. As MLB may look to implement many of the same principles. Now the question will be, will everyone be on board?

| Passion for the Pastime: Here's the Plan | 29 Apr 2020 | 00:43:01 | |
I am the man, the man with a plan. Not really my plan, but I am the man that knows of a man, who knows of a man with a plan. Baseball continues it's search for a solution to starting baseball again. This latest plan seems to be the most realistic. Is it still a long shot? Yes. Will it still take a while? Yes, but all good things take time. In the meantime, we do actually have some live "sports" to watch. Players representing their respective teams have been competing for about 2 and half weeks by now and we have finally made it to the playoffs. 8 teams remain and if you are tired of watching the same old replays, then sit back and relax as you watch grown men play video games. Its actually not as bad as it sounds and actually makes you like some players that you would have never considered. If that isn't your cup of tea, simulations of the Dream Bracket has reached the Final Four. Yankees, Red Sox, Reds and Dodgers and a whole lot of hall of famers. I know it isn't what we want, but it is what we have. Lets make the best of the situation, and get our NERD ON!

| Passion for the Pastime: Memories with McCovey Cove Dave | 27 Apr 2020 | 00:26:16 | |
In these times, baseball fans are in a wait and see mode. With no definitive date to return to baseball, and with the clock still ticking, a lot about the 2020 season is still up in the air. It is always fun to talk baseball, to keep that love and passion that we have for the game of baseball alive. This week, I spoke with McCovey Cove Dave, who is a staple for Giants fans at the ball park. You can see him at the game in his kayak, sitting in the cove, waiting for a ball to come his way. We go down memory lane and just talk ball, to have some little bit of normalcy in our lives again. Just as McCovey Cove Dave is waiting for a ball to enter the cove on game day, that anticipation is exciting, even though it may take a while. The same can be said for fans waiting for the game to return, and we should use his same approach. So when the ball does finally land in the cove, and when the game of baseball does return, it will be well worth the wait and it will be that much more sweeter.

| Passion for the Pastime: Slap on the Wrist | 26 Apr 2020 | 00:36:45 | |
Well the verdict came down earlier this week, and it wasn't what baseball fans expected. I guess cheating gets you a slap on the wrist. Maybe not even a slap, more of a tap, because the Red Sox didn't get anything for cheating. Blame placed in all directions except for the organization. But in these times we cant focus on the negative. A positive note from the Commissioners Officer, Rob Manfred fully expects baseball to resume in 2020, so there is still hope at the end of the tunnel. Until then lets watch grown adults play baseball games. No, seriously lets do it. It is highly entertaining and you get a chance to engage with a select few of professional athletes. Hunter Pence is by far the most entertaining to watch on twitch. If what other people play games is a weird concept for you, never fear, I am hear to give you the new wave of sports. MLB Dream Bracket started last week, with 32 teams and we are not down to the final 8 teams. Playing simulated games and with live MLB network hosts, calling the game, take a dive into baseball history as you watch a simulation of baseball player of the past, and present day superstars. Left remaining are the Yankees, Astros, Red Sox and White Sox in the AL bracket and the NL bracket you have the Cardinals, Reds, Brewers and Dodgers. I make my selections and next time we will take a dive into the Final Four of the Dream Bracket, where these teams fight for all-time bragging rights.

| Passion for the Pastime - Paving the Way | 22 Apr 2020 | 00:35:55 | |
Quarantine at home for players, isnt going well for some. In particular one Joe Kelly, who is now standing in the long lines at Home Depot. Former teammate of Joe Kelly, Yasiel Puig is in the headlines, but it isnt what you would come to expect for the 29 year old Cuban ballplayer. Since we are talking Dodgers, April 15th ,know by many as Jackie Robinson Day came and went. There was no baseball played. There was no players wearing the number 42. Instead it is a good time to reflect. What did Jackie mean to you? To the sport of Baseball? These are questions that we can all look at and feel Jackie's presence today. It is a story of selflessness, heroics and sacrifice. Without Jackie, our world, our game, wouldnt be the same. Not to mention Jackie paving the way for another trailblazer of the sport. This year marks his 65 year anniversary of his MLB debut, coming 8 years and 2 days after Jackie's Debut, The Hero of Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente. A great on is in store for you on this one.

| Passion for the Pastime - Our Dream Lineups | 21 Apr 2020 | 00:32:49 | |
Well since last podcast, and we have been talking about the Dream Bracket tournament taking place, we have decided to create our own lineup ups. Joined again by Jess "Black Sheep" Juarez, we go through all positions to create our team lineups. Only catch is that it has to be players from our life time. Great topic for debate, because there is no way someone will make the same exact list. This should be interesting.

| Passion for the Pastime - Gaming and Simulations, The New Norm | 20 Apr 2020 | 00:34:25 | |
What do you do when there are no games to be played? You play games of course. A lot of you may think I'm losing my mind but, I have special Guest Jesse "Black Sheep" Juarez to help me explain because that is literally what MLB has decided to do. Players tournaments in their respective sports is the wave of the temporary new normal, with one representative for each MLB squad, playing MLB The Show for bragging rights for their squad. People are flocking to watch these players play games, which at one time, we all thought was a bit strange. I now find it extremely entertaining in a world where live sports is non-existent. And if video games wasn't enough for you to fill the void, MLB has partnered with Out of the Park Baseball 21 and Draft Kings to bring us a Dream Bracket Simulation. What I mean by Dream Bracket, is the top players at each position for their respective franchises, regardless of era, on one team, to determine who is the superior squad. You will see match-ups of Randy Johnson taking on the Murders Row Yankees, Big Papi vs Nolan Ryan among many others. This new normal will have to do, and I think I'm starting to like it.

| Passion for the Pastime with Special Guest F.P. Santangelo Jr. | 10 Apr 2020 | 00:36:55 | |
With so much uncertainty in the world, the only certain thing is the love of baseball that fans all over this country share together. That love for the game can be felt in this podcast. This week I have a Special Guest, F.P. Santangelo Jr. to talk some ball, which in these times, can be one of the most normal things we can do. We reflect back on some memories of F.P. especially looking back at October 2019. We also share our thoughts on the efforts of MLB and their possible plan to get baseball playing again in the US, or in 2020 as a whole. Just two fans of the sport, hanging out and talking ball. Your in store of a fun one this week. Enjoy!

Joining me on this weeks podcast is host of The Leadoff Spot on KNBR 104.5 and 680, Adam Copeland. On this podcast we discuss the plans moving forward with baseball, and with more events like Wimbledon being cancelled that extend into July, what does that mean for baseball? Then we take a trip down memory lane and think about baseball of the past, as we give our favorite moments of baseball from our childhoods and recent memory. Come have fun with us, you wont want to miss this. Also remember, stay home!

| Passion for the Pastime: Stay busy | 30 Mar 2020 | 01:03:55 | |
Going crazy yet in quarantine? I must say, I am enjoying it for the most part. Please be safe and stay healthy and shelter in place so this nightmare can be over sooner rather than later. We have some clarity as to when we can expect baseball to resume, and let me say, it may not be for some time. MLB network has been streaming games to keep us happy but is it the same feeling? If that doesn't hold you over, well what else should you do? I have a few suggestions. One involves your fingers and a smartphone. Get your minds out of the gutter. The other involves the ultra reliable YouTube, where a 5 minute video can turn into a 3 hour session, so beware.

| Passion for the Pastime: Opening Day Memories | 26 Mar 2020 | 00:25:31 | |
March 26, 2020 is the day that would be the start of the season. Opening Day, a day that is felt like a national holiday to some, will not happen on time. Its not a matter of IF, its a matter of WHEN. In the meantime, lets remember Opening Day. What did it mean to you? How did it make you feel? Feel like a therapy session yet? I remember what my first Opening day felt like. Partly because I still fell it, every year like I'm sure most of you do as well. The sights, the sounds, the smells (good and bad). Baseball is a timeless game, that no matter if its not being played or not, we can still remember those feeling and sounds. Also will look at top Opening Day moments for me, since we still have the memories, but don't you worry. New memories will happen in 2020, its just a matter of when.

| Passion for the Pastime: Quarantined/ Week 1 | 20 Mar 2020 | 00:40:59 | |
Live from your Quarantined studios, its time to talk baseball. I know the past week has seemed like a nightmare, but lets look at the bright side. Don't worry, I'll wait. All seriousness, being locking in a home with your family may not be a bad thing (week 1 in quarantine). Ask me again in a couple of weeks. First we will go through how the news breaking of sports and baseball not being around made me feel, as I'm sure most of you did. The response by MLB to stadium workers was a great thing to see as everyone is thinking of financial ramifications as I'm sure most of you are as well. I'm here for you, and we will get through this together. With all that said, we still have baseball news, some guys are hurt, unfortunately. Verlander will be getting groin surgery that will put him out for 6 weeks, not like he would miss any action since the season isn't expected to start until some time in June. So now the question is, what do we do until then? Well my answer to you in this podcast is, movies. Baseball and movies go hand and hand, and their are tones of movies at our fingertips. Baseball movies to make you laugh, to make you cry, or maybe a little bit of both. I'll give you a list of movies to watch, and I'll let you know which are my favorites, which is hard given the list at hand.

| Passion for the Pastime: AL West | 16 Mar 2020 | 00:50:41 | |
We are back at it again, joined for the second straight podcast, my good friend Martin. This podcast we will be looking at the AL West. Touch on the sign stealing scandal and how we felt with the president of the 5'6" club was found to be a cheater. Being proud members of that club, it was devastating. But how good will the Astros be in 2020, and could the Oakland A's with all their youth, capitalize on this opportunity to seize control of the west. Again, you cant sleep on the giant down south, the Los Angeles Angels. With Maddon as their new manager, adding Anthony Rendon and a healthy Ohtani, the Angels can and will be a force to be reckoned with. One small problem, you cant only win on offense, and last I checked, their Rotation is mediocre. Rangers are the dark horse in this division and are looking to catch everyone by surprise. The Mariners on the other hand, well they will be playing to not be to worst team in baseball this season, but a top draft pick might be what they need right now.

| Passion for the Pastime: NL Central | 13 Mar 2020 | 00:39:33 | |
We will start by talking about the Coronavirus outbreak that is now interfferring with the sports world. All major sporting events have been suspended, with MLB being postponed for at least 2 weeks. We will continue to move forward and talk divisions but the start of the season at the moment is in question. Back to baseball. We have finally made it to the NL Central, which in 2019 was one of the toughest divisions to figure out. So for this one, I needed the big guns, special guest Martin Rivas is joining me on the podcast. Former University of San Diego alum, Martin has some insight on Chicago Cubs, Kris Bryant, who has been talked about a lot this past winter. Then we will move on and talk about everyone else in the Central. Are the Reds contenders or pretenders? Brewers building a culture around Christian Yelich but do they have enough in 2020. The Cardinals you can never rule out in the Central, but on paper, they don't stack up with the other top teams.
