From Lunch & Learns to 1,500+ Real Estate Agents: Gavin Ekstrom’s Growth Strategy21 oct. 202600:19:31

Gavin Ekstrom has been in the mortgage business since 1993.

He still originates today while also running a branch and a region, but the way he builds relationships with real estate agents looks a little different than the traditional loan officer model. Instead of relying entirely on one-on-one meetings, Gavin has built a one-to-many approach around educational events.

What started as lunch-and-learns with around 10 to 15 people has grown into about six events a month, where Gavin teaches real estate agents things they can actually use to grow their businesses, from buyer and seller presentations to overcoming objections and winning more listings. Last year, he says his team spoke to more than 1,500 agents through those events.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Gavin and I get into how he built that model, why he believes teaching agents beyond mortgage products creates stronger relationships, and how he thinks about the connection between adding value, marketing and profitability.

Gavin also shares the leadership lesson that changed how he thinks about running a business, how he uses sponsorships to help cover the cost of his events, how he filters agents into different rooms, why social media and email help build familiarity before the first conversation, and why the follow-up after the event is so important.

Here’s what we covered:

  • Gavin’s journey in the mortgage business and why he still originates - 00:31
  • The “conductor” lesson that changed how Gavin thinks about leadership - 03:09

  • Why marketing, social media and email help build familiarity with agents - 15:29

How Ricky Carruth Built a Personal Brand That Grew Beyond Real Estate14 oct. 202600:23:35

Ricky Carruth has had quite a journey in real estate.

He made his first million, lost it all during the housing crash, and eventually rebuilt his business to become the number one agent in his market for eight years. He also became the number one RE/MAX agent in Alabama for three different years. Over his career, he closed 1,000 properties as a solo agent before retiring from sales in 2022 to focus on helping other agents build their businesses.

What's interesting is what happened next. Ricky took the skills he had developed through email marketing, phone calls and postcards and applied those same principles to social media, building a national and global personal brand through organic content.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Ricky and I get into his approach to building a personal brand, creating organic content people actually want to watch, and earning trust with an audience over time.

Ricky also shares why he believes so much social media content gets overlooked, how he develops ideas from his own experience, why he spends so much time thinking through an idea before creating it, and what business owners often misunderstand about turning an audience into revenue.

Here's what we covered:

  • Ricky's journey from losing everything to becoming a top-producing real estate agent - 00:54
  • How he used his real estate marketing experience to build a personal brand - 02:37
  • Why consistency matters when building trust through social media - 05:36
  • What separates content that gets attention from content people scroll past - 07:13
  • Why your own experience matters when developing content ideas - 11:18
  • How Ricky thinks through his short-form video scripts - 13:44
  • The strategy behind his recognizable green-screen video openings - 15:04
  • How he's built an audience through consistent organic content - 17:41
  • Why he doesn't rely on a lot of direct calls to action in his organic content - 18:24
  • The mistake business owners make when trying to monetize their audience - 19:22
  • Why selling starts with understanding what people actually want - 20:39

How Dave Fanale Built 40 Years of Business Through Relationships07 oct. 202600:19:45

Dave Fanale has spent more than 40 years in real estate. He’s built properties, owned a brokerage for 21 years, invested and flipped homes, and today works as a growth manager with the Align team while helping agents grow their businesses.

Through all of it, one question has stayed pretty consistent: What can I do to help you?

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant sits down with longtime friend Dave Fanale to talk about what decades in real estate have taught him about relationships, trust and doing business with people you actually like being around.

Dave shares why he thinks the invitation can be just as valuable as the event itself, how agents can create simple opportunities to stay connected with their sphere, why a script should never stop sounding like you, and why trust ultimately comes down to doing what you said you were going to do.

In this episode:

  • Dave’s 40+ year career in real estate - 01:03
  • The question he still uses to approach relationships - 02:18
  • Why “the invite is just as important as the party” - 03:08

Matt Fagioli on Why Events Still Drive Business Growth01 oct. 202600:19:08

You can have the right 10 people in a room and have a $5,000 to $50,000 day.

Matt Fagioli and I spent some time unpacking why events can be such a powerful way to build relationships and grow a business.

Matt has been in and around real estate for about 25 years. He started as an agent, built a top-10 team in his state, sold the team, and later moved into the technology and industry side of the business.

He also spent 10 years building the Xplode Conference, bringing 500 people together at a time in cities across the country and working with major partners like Realtor.com and Zillow.

We talked about live events, virtual events, partnerships, audience-building, offers, webinars and the work that happens behind the scenes long before you ever fill a room.

Here’s what we covered:

  • The role events can play in building relationships and business - 02:52
  • Why virtual events offer a level of scale that physical events can’t - 04:41
  • Finding the right audience instead of simply chasing bigger numbers - 05:38
  • Why human connection could become even more valuable as AI becomes more prevalent - 06:32
  • How AI can give businesses more time for actual relationships - 07:29

  • What goes into consistently filling a 500-person event - 11:03
  • How Matt used partnerships to build and fill his events - 11:50
  • Why Matt sees webinars as a major opportunity in real estate - 14:11
  • The time, money and patience required to make an event strategy work - 15:30

How Ricardo Bueno Turns Customers Into Superfans Through Community and Events28 sept. 202600:25:41

Ricardo Bueno has spent more than a decade in real estate tech building partnerships, communities and customer experiences for companies including Diverse Solutions and Follow Up Boss.

His approach goes beyond selling the product.

Ricardo believes customer adoption and retention deserve just as much attention as acquiring the customer in the first place. Educate people. Help them get more value from what they bought. Build an ecosystem around them. Do it well enough, and a customer can become the person recommending your product to everyone else.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, here's what we got into:

  • Why Ricardo leads with education instead of product features - 03:16
  • Customer retention, adoption and creating superfans - 04:46
  • Why your best customers can become your best advocates - 07:00
  • How Ricardo went from small coffee meetups to a 510-person real estate event - 11:05
  • How he used smaller events to create FOMO for the next one - 14:06
  • Why every detail of an event contributes to the customer experience - 15:58
  • How Follow Up Boss approached its events as more than a traditional user conference - 17:24
  • Why superfans create referrals and an automatic transfer of trust - 20:47
  • Building an event backwards from the feeling you want people to leave with - 22:15

Ricardo’s goal wasn't simply to put on events. It was to create experiences people remembered and a community customers wanted to champion.

How Aaron Martinez Uses Organic Content and Paid Ads to Grow a Business24 sept. 202600:23:54

Aaron Martinez has been making videos online since he was nine years old. By 15, he had received his first check from YouTube. Today, his work sits at the intersection of video content, organic marketing and paid advertising.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Aaron dig into what actually gets someone from watching your content to becoming a customer.

Aaron explains why he sees YouTube as particularly effective for building trust, why short-form content needs to be created differently when growth is the goal, and how AI is changing what audiences need to see before they believe your marketing.

They also get into paid advertising, rising acquisition costs, tracking the numbers that actually matter, and why declaring that ads “don’t work” after spending $10 or $100 misses how much testing goes into finding a system that can scale.

In this episode:

  •  Why Aaron believes YouTube is particularly effective for building trust - 03:51
  •  Long-form vs. short-form video content - 05:14
  •  Why repurposed podcast clips don't always perform as short-form content - 05:25
  •  Building trust with content in the age of AI - 07:10
  •  Why Aaron sees livestreaming as another way to establish trust - 09:20
  •  How content can make the eventual sales conversation easier - 13:19
  •  Why Aaron sees a role for both organic content and paid ads - 15:47
  •  Why $10 or $100 isn't enough to decide whether advertising works - 16:47
  •  Using numbers instead of feelings to diagnose marketing problems - 19:47
  •  The $140K testing story and what happened after the funnel finally worked - 21:31

Lisa Chinatti sold 8 homes in 2015. One year later, she sold 81.

The shift wasn’t one magic strategy. Lisa got serious about the business, learned how lead generation worked, figured out online lead conversion, and as she sold more, her confidence grew with it.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Lisa get into what happened next: building deeper relationships, earning trust, staying genuinely curious about people, and getting comfortable actually asking for the review, referral or business.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  •  How Lisa went from 8 homes sold to 81 in one year - 03:07
  •  Why trying to be liked by everybody can lead to less genuine relationships - 06:52

The Follow-Up System Justin Nelson Built With Virtual Assistants17 sept. 202600:22:17

Justin Nelson has spent nearly 15 years in real estate and business, and over the last six years has grown his virtual assistant company to nearly 12,000 placements across roughly 5,000 business owners.

But some of the most interesting ways he uses virtual assistants have nothing to do with cold calling or checking tasks off a list.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Justin get into how he uses VAs to help manage the follow-up that usually gets lost after a meeting or networking event, from researching the person he just met to coordinating handwritten notes and thoughtful gifts. They also get into the harder part: actually learning how to manage people once you start delegating.

Here’s what we got into:

  •  How Justin grew his business through 100–150 events a year before he had the budget or risk tolerance for paid advertising - 02:52
  •  Using virtual assistants for personalized follow-up instead of only cold calling and transaction work - 04:12
  •  Why managing a VA requires the same leadership skills as managing someone in your office - 07:34
  •  Hiring someone you’ll need to train vs. hiring someone with “batteries included” - 08:29
  •  Where Justin draws the line between leverage, AI and maintaining trust - 10:57
  •  Why he puts more weight on delivering on the big commitments than personally handling every small touchpoint - 11:39
  •  How his team uses thoughtful microgifting with clients and employees - 14:50
  •  How he thinks about creating a win-win when someone doesn’t need what he sells right now - 16:58
  •  Why Justin tries to “outgive” the people in his network without keeping score - 19:47

Connect with Justin Nelson:

The Power of Intention in Real Estate Relationship Building with Tara Limbird07 sept. 202600:21:17

Tara Limbird told her husband starting a real estate team in 2010 was an absolutely terrible idea.

He did it anyway. She came along. And together they built one of the top real estate teams in Arkansas with agents who have stayed on the team for 9 and 12 years in an industry where retention is almost unheard of.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Tara get into what it actually takes to build relationships that compound over time, a team that stays together, and a business that keeps growing without burning everything down trying to do everything at once.

Here's what we got into:

  • Why relationships are a long play and why most agents quit before they pay off - 04:19
  • Why doing everything means you're not great at anything and how to find your lane - 04:55
  • How Tara keeps agents for 9 and 12 years when most teams can't hold anyone - 05:44
  • Why most agents are scared to ask for business from the people who already like them - 15:35

Daniel Beer didn't like his job at 23. So he ran straight into real estate, spent years making mistakes, not being in the right rooms and not understanding what he could actually build.

Then he figured it out.

He built what became eXp Realty's number one producing team across 60,000 agents. Then partnered with the team that eventually passed him. Last year Whissel Beer Group sold over 1,100 houses in San Diego.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Dan get into what it actually takes to build a business on relationships, why value alone never closes anything, and what the best teams in the country are doing differently.

  • How relationships with the right lenders and title partners made his business run smoother and reduced his staff - 03:52
  • How Dan and Kyle Whissel went from San Diego competitors to partners at Whissel Beer Group - 04:21

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant and Geoff get into how to use social media to start actual conversations and turn those conversations into relationships, clients and partnerships.

  •  Why remembering there’s a real person on the other side of the screen matters - 01:45
  •  The best and worst thing about social media being the same thing - 02:31
  •  The 3 ways Geoff gets people talking through content: ask, inspire and provoke - 04:40
  •  Why conversations matter more than likes and shares - 05:40
  •  Why looking for the client too quickly can make you miss a bigger relationship - 11:31
  •  How one strong partnership can open a lot more doors - 15:56
  •  Why personal content can help you get people’s attention before talking business -18:59

How Bill Davis Went From 9 Years on a Team to Building One of eXp’s Top Teams27 août 202600:23:48

Bill Davis spent nine years as an agent on someone else’s team before starting his own. Now 16 years into real estate, he’s built one of eXp’s top teams but the path there wasn’t quick or straightforward.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Bill to talk about what he learned from those nine years, why chasing the commission early in his career hurt his client relationships, and what changed when he started focusing on the people instead of the transaction.

They also get into building a stronger pipeline, focusing on fewer lead sources, client consultations, training agents, and why trying to do too many things at once can keep you from getting really good at any of them.

In this episode:

  •  Why Bill spent nine years on a real estate team before building his own - 02:11
  •  How chasing the commission affected his client relationships and referrals - 06:08
  •  Why a deeper pipeline takes pressure off individual clients and deals - 07:15
  •  The lead sources Bill’s team focuses on and why he believes less can be more - 08:44
  •  Bill’s approach to client relationships and why consultations matter - 11:21
  •  How one agent pushed through nearly nine months without a closing before going on to sell roughly $25 million - 14:29
  •  Why Bill believes trying to do too many things can keep you from getting great at one thing - 16:54
  •  Why Bill says he actually made more money as an individual agent than he does running a team - 22:57

Bill’s story is a good reminder that real estate growth doesn’t always happen on the timeline you expect. Sometimes it’s getting good at one thing, sticking with the process when the results aren’t there yet, and building relationships instead of chasing the next commission.

Nelson Quest on AI, Authenticity and Relationship Building for Real Estate Agents24 août 202600:23:01

Nelson Quest built AgentFire from a mattress on the floor of his parents' house. No employees until 2015. Today he has thousands of clients and 80 employees.

But this conversation isn't really about that.

In this episode of Partner & Profit podcast, Grant and Nelson get into what most business conversations avoid entirely. The loss of authenticity in a world drowning in AI content, why people can feel inauthenticity even when they can't pinpoint it, and what it actually takes to show up as a real person in business today.

Here's what we got into:

  • Why social media has become the furthest thing from social - 03:25
  • Why copying and pasting AI content is automating you out of real relationships - 04:18
  • Nelson's personal shift from self-focused to service-focused after becoming a father to twins - 04:53
  • Why getting really good at something is the only path to discovering who you actually are - 06:10

  • How to get to a point where people receive you the way you intend - 17:55
  • Why you can feel inauthenticity even when you cannot explain it - 19:20
  • Why being uncomfortable in the right ways is still the move - 22:13

Whether you're in real estate, home services, or any relationship driven business, this conversation is a reminder that the most powerful thing you can do right now is just be a real person.

Maximizing Referral Volume: Aaron Wuthrich’s Real Estate Partnership Framework20 août 202600:15:28

Aaron Wuthrich once got a lead, called them within minutes, and got told to stop calling. That's what happens when you're one of ten companies bidding on the same purchased lead.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise talks with Aaron, owner of Absolute Moving and Delivery out of Calgary, Alberta, about the difference between chasing bought leads and building real referral partnerships. Aaron's company has pulled in 28 leads from a single real estate team, Justin Havre's group, one of the top teams in Calgary, and he breaks down exactly what it takes to build and keep a referral relationship like that, from showing up every week to knowing which crew to send out so you never embarrass the person who recommended you.

Here's what we got into:

  • Aaron's path from working as a contractor for other people to running Absolute Moving and Delivery 100% independently - 00:56
  • Why buying leads from platforms means competing with an unknown number of other companies, and the time a customer told him to stop calling because she'd already gotten 10 other calls - 05:18
  • The real story behind how his partnership with the Justin Havre's real estate team started - 03:02
  • Why staying "top of mind" and showing up to every weekly meeting matters more than being the cheapest option - 04:22
  • What happens when you put your "C team" on a job that came from a trusted referral, and why that's the fastest way to lose the whole relationship - 09:06

From Salesperson to Sales Pro: Mastering Real Estate Conversations with Renee Funk17 août 202600:27:50

Real estate sales, communication and trust-building take center stage in this episode with Renee Funk, co-founder of The Funk Collection in Orlando, Florida, and a sales communication coach who trains real estate agents and teams across the country.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Renee to unpack what most agents get wrong the second they walk into a listing appointment, and why the ones who slow down and get curious end up winning the business anyway. Renee shares a real story from her own team where an agent talked a seller OUT of listing, and still walked away with a glowing review. She also breaks down the four real factors that drive someone to buy, sell, or hire you.

Here's what we got into:

  • Why Renee said no to real estate for years before finally getting licensed, and what changed her mind - 00:59
  • The industry's habit of showing off trophies and cars instead of the truth, and why that's hurting agents more than helping -  05:28
  • The 4 real factors that make someone actually value working with a real estate agent, according to her mentor Phil M. Jones - 09:21
  • Why "explaining your value proposition" is a trap most real estate agents fall into without realizing it - 09:21
  • The listing consultation where an agent told a seller not to sell, and got a 5-star review for it anyway - 20:13
  • Why nearly 51% of U.S. mortgages are still under 4%, and what that means for how agents should be talking to sellers in 2026 - 23:39
  • The trust recession happening right now because of AI, and what real estate agents need to do differently to stay human - 16:46
  • Renee's one rule for turning relationships into revenue: own the relationship, not the transaction - 17:35

How Isaiah Colton’s AI Agent Made 671 Calls in 2 Hours13 août 202600:27:27

Isaiah Colton's AI agent made 671 phone calls in two hours. It booked 7 appointments, and the follow-up alone generated dozens of additional inbound calls, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional outbound sales team.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Isaiah, a 14-year real estate veteran who built and exited a brokerage before founding an AI-powered digital marketing and consulting firm. Isaiah breaks down what it actually looks like to run agentic AI agents inside a real business today, not chatbots or simple tools, but autonomous AI employees handling lead generation, lead conversion, and operational efficiency at scale.

Here's what we got into:

  • Isaiah's path from building a 200-plus agent brokerage to exiting in 2019 and launching an AI-powered consulting firm - 01:00
  • Why an AI agent that's upfront about being AI often builds deeper trust than a human salesperson would - 08:10
  • The real risk of companies training AI to lie about being human, and why that damages trust for everyone else - 07:24
  • An AI agent's real call results: 671 calls in 2 hours, 7 appointments, and a wave of inbound callbacks - 05:30
  • The Utah agent who set a $1.2 million listing appointment while standing in Sam's Club, thanks to an AI whisper-mode alert - 13:53
  • Why Isaiah believes the old "rule of 100" hustle-culture advice is already becoming obsolete - 25:31
  • How his own company went from needing roughly 70 people to running the same operation with 27 to 30, purely from AI agents - 21:20
  • The story of an AI agent that helped a land deal come together, saving $10,000 in research costs and setting up a potential $500,000 to $700,000 profit - 21:53
  • Why Isaiah thinks 2027 will be the year most industries, including real estate, finally catch up to what this technology can already do - 22:40

Whether you're curious about AI, skeptical of it or already trying to figure out how to use it in your own business, this conversation lays out real numbers and real use cases, not just theory.

The Power of Human Connection in Real Estate: Koby Sway on Staying Personal in an AI World10 août 202600:21:56

Five and a half years ago, Koby Sway's real estate team had about 10 agents doing roughly 300 units a year. Today, that same team runs four separate businesses, real estate, mortgage, insurance, and title, with 60 agents closing around 1,000 units annually.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Koby Sway of the Briley Team to unpack how a former 20-year corporate America veteran (AT&T, Best Buy, Verizon) applied lessons from the customer service world most people love to hate, and used them to build a completely vertically integrated real estate business. Koby breaks down why he decided to stop handing leads to outside vendors, what it actually takes to obsess over customer experience at scale, and why he believes AI will make agents more efficient, but only the ones who stay genuinely human will survive what's coming next.

Here's what we got into:

  • Koby's path from 20 years in corporate America to joining the Briley Team about 5.5 years ago, and how the team grew from 10 agents to 60 - 00:49
  • Why he built out mortgage, insurance, and title as extensions of the real estate business, and the moment he realized leads were quietly walking out the door - 01:52
  • Why customer experience became an obsession, drawing directly from his years at AT&T, Best Buy, and Verizon - 06:02
  • The uncomfortable stat that 70% of real estate agents are part-time and sell fewer than 3 houses a year - 07:18
  • How the parallels between corporate customer service failures and real estate translate into more reviews and more referrals - 08:04
  • Why he compares a real estate transaction to getting married, and what that means for how realtors should actually build relationships - 14:49
  • Where Koby thinks AI is taking the real estate industry, and the risk of agents automating themselves right out of being human - 16:27
  • His simple advice for anyone who wants to connect with him directly, and why he offers his time so freely - 20:48

How Levi Lascsak Closed 64 Deals in His First Year Through YouTube Attraction Marketing06 août 202600:29:52

Levi Lascsak lost his entire business in 2020 with nothing to fall back on. Within his first year as a brand-new real estate agent, he'd closed 64 transactions worth $33.5 million, and $1 million of that was commission.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Levi Lascsak, real estate agent, YouTube creator, and author of Passive Prospecting, to break down exactly how he built an entire real estate business from a single YouTube channel, starting with almost no following, zero sales experience, and a personality that never wanted to be a typical door-knocking, hand-shaking agent in the first place.

Levi walks through the actual mechanics behind it: why he picked YouTube when nobody in real estate was using it, the concept of parasocial relationships and why it's the real reason strangers trust him enough to call, and the exact content system he still uses today to dominate an entire market.

Here's what we got into:

  • Losing his financial services business overnight in 2020, and reluctantly moving into real estate at 41 with no other options left - 00:54
  • Why he chose YouTube specifically because nobody else in real estate was using it, and spent 2 months studying the platform before posting a single video - 03:50
  • Getting his first phone call after just 30 days, from a million-dollar client, with only 48 subscribers on his channel - 06:16
  • Closing 64 transactions and $33.5 million in volume in his very first year, after a first quarter with nothing at all - 05:49
  • The concept of parasocial relationships, and why people buy from creators the same way they root for their favorite sitcom character - 09:04
  • Why he never talks about himself on camera, and only earns the right to make an ask after delivering value repeatedly - 14:33
  • His exact content system: 4 repeatable video buckets and how to build a searchable, bingeable library for any niche or industry - 19:22
  • A simple, step-by-step plan for building a YouTube channel around a full-time job or family, without quitting anything first - 24:28

Whether you're in real estate or any other relationship-driven business, this episode is a real blueprint for building trust with strangers at scale, long before they ever pick up the phone.

How Jason Cheperdak Built the #1 Real Estate Team in the DMV03 août 202600:22:22

Jason Cheperdak made his first $1 million at 30 years old, half of it from a real estate team, the other half from a job at Target that almost nobody in his real estate life knew about.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Jason Cheperdak, founder of Shepherd Homes Group, now the #1 real estate team in the DMV (Maryland, DC, and Virginia). Jason breaks down the philosophy and systems behind a team known for insane agent retention, insane personal production, and a culture that runs on zero drama and zero excuses plus how he still finds time to personally sell around 100 houses a year, run a 1,000-door property management company, and flip houses on the side.

Here's what we got into:

  • Jason's backstory, a Target store manager during COVID who got licensed almost by accident, sold nothing for 6 months, then closed 9 homes and never looked back - 01:16
  • Hitting his first $150 million year and his first $1 million personal income at 30, split between real estate and his Target paycheck - 02:25
  • Why he tells his entire team that being a "salesperson" is a bad idea in this industry - 05:23
  • How his team pairs the right agent with the right client by knowing their own people deeply, not by profiling the consumer - 07:17
  • Selling $97.7 million individually last year, and why staying in the business himself is what actually builds trust with his agents - 08:27
  • Why he keeps business and personal life deliberately separate, and how winning together builds the relationship first - 09:34
  • His actual daily schedule, working 9am to 9:30pm most days, with Sunday morning as his only real break - 11:24
  • The 3 pillars of consistency (vision, personal, and culture) he credits for his team's growth - 14:24
  • The 4 non-negotiable culture rules: zero drama, zero assumptions, radical authenticity, and no complaining without a solution - 15:03
  • His 3-step process for letting someone go, where the person often ends up firing themselves - 16:28
  • Why trust is all-or-nothing in his world, with zero grace once it's broken - 18:53

How Curiosity and Contribution Drive Real Estate Success With Ryan Young30 juil. 202600:28:02

Most real estate agents are so focused on getting more leads that they completely ignore the goldmine already sitting in their database. Ryan Young built a team selling around 500 homes a year and a tech company working with around 3,000 real estate teams to solve exactly that problem and in this episode he is laying out the entire philosophy.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Ryan Young, team leader of the Young Team in Northeast Ohio and founder of Fello, to talk about what separates the top real estate teams from everyone else, why contribution beats commission breath every single time, and how genuine curiosity is the most underrated relationship tool in real estate today.

Ryan also opens up about his journey from culinary school at the Culinary Institute of America to building a listing-heavy real estate team with his parents to launching a tech platform now used by over 50% of the Realtor Top 1,000. This is a conversation about contribution, curiosity, and building something that lasts.

Here is what you will learn in this episode:

  • How Ryan went from culinary school to building a real estate team selling around 500 homes a year and founding Fello - 01:00
  • Why the best way to turn relationships into revenue is to stop trying to monetize them - 07:30
  • How Fello identifies homeowners inside your buyer lead database and turns them into listing opportunities - 01:30
  • Why putting too much pressure on the if versus when conversation is costing real estate agents listings every single day - 24:07
  • How internalizing your script so deeply that you stop thinking about it is the key to having genuine human conversations with prospects - 22:39
  • Why most real estate agents are filling a leaky bucket with new leads instead of patching the holes they already have - 25:32
  • How Ryan seeks out forward-thinking relationships with people who push him toward where he wants to go - 12:31
  • Why sharing personal passions like cooking and running on social media builds deeper real estate business relationships than posting about listings - 18:55
  • Why commitment gets you in the door but contribution is what keeps you in - 27:25

Whether you are a solo agent, team leader or broker owner, this episode is a reminder that the leads you already have and the relationships you have already built are worth far more than anything new you could buy.

Justin Benson Shares Data-Backed Tips for Closing More Real Estate Deals with AI27 juil. 202600:22:23

Justin Benson's company has analyzed 3 million real estate and mortgage sales calls, not to grade tone or coach scripts but to find out, statistically, what actually separates the deals that close from the ones that don't.

In this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Justin Benson, founder of Shilo, a conversational AI platform built for real estate and mortgage teams, to break down the data-backed tips his company has uncovered for closing more deals. Justin shares which habits actually move the needle, which ones don't hold up under real data and where his team drew an ethical line on what the AI could tell them about a person.

Justin also shares his own unlikely path here: a biochem major who dropped out of med school, built and sold a tech company, ran a real estate team, got signed to a record label off a song written for his dying father and eventually landed on building AI for the real estate industry he now calls home.

Here's what we got into:

  • Justin's winding path: biochem major, dropped out of med school, a real estate team, and a signed record deal off a song written for his father - 01:02
  • Why setting a defined next step on the first or second call is the strongest predictor of long-term deal success, and the 74% drop-off Gong found when teams skip it - 04:42
  • The restaurant cancellation study - how one word change to a confirmation script cut no-shows dramatically overnight - 05:48
  • The 3x increase in closing rates Shilo found across 7,000 users when a clear next step gets set early - 07:18
  • Why asking 9 or more discovery questions on a call outweighs even asking for the appointment - 07:50
  • The moral line Justin's team drew when they realized how much they could infer about a person's fears and psychology after just 10 calls - 11:08
  • Whether routing leads by personality fit could outperform how most teams distribute leads today - 13:22
  • The two unglamorous values Justin says have quietly built every company he's ever run -  16:51

Whether you're leading a real estate team, scaling a brokerage or just trying to close more deals with fewer wasted conversations, this episode hands you real data you can put to use immediately.

Alec Cheplak’s Blueprint for Growing Real Estate Teams Through Webinars and Events23 juil. 202600:23:51

Most agents assume you need a big ad budget to keep the leads coming. Alec Cheplak has built two companies from zero to a million dollars without ever buying a single lead and in this episode, he breaks down exactly how.

On this episode of the Partner & Profit Podcast, Grant Wise sits down with Alec Cheplak, marketing coach and co-founder of Cheplak Wellness, to unpack the system he now runs for top real estate team leaders across North America: how he turns borrowed audiences into hundreds of new leads a month, fills event rooms in cities he's never even visited and converts cold viewers into buyers live, on camera, during his webinars.

Alec also shares how he got here, a path that runs through finding sobriety alongside his father through fitness, a decade as a personal trainer working 12-to-16-hour days, a stint smiling-and-dialing timeshares out of a Wyndham boiler room and one accidental favor for a friend, Dustin Runyon, that turned into a marketing coaching business now serving real estate team leaders, mortgage companies and tech firms nationwide.

What you'll learn in this episode:

  • How a decade in personal training and a boiler-room sales job led to launching Cheplak Wellness from $0 to $1 million in under 20 months then a marketing company that hit $1 million in under 12 - 00:54
  • Why finding your "who" has to come before any of the tactics and how Alec had to build credibility in an industry he'd never worked in - 04:14
  • The lead-trading system that took him from 600 leads in 18 months to nearly 4,000 leads in 16 months, including 432 new leads in his most recent 30 days alone - 04:57
  • Why it's not just about people saying you're great, it's about who says it and how borrowing the right person's audience can change everything overnight - 08:16
  • Why most of the money in a webinar is made or lost in the marketing before and after it, not during the pitch itself - 11:03
  • The exact structure of Alec's monthly webinar, from the opening selfie that turns attendees into live promoters to the teaching format that keeps drop-off rates low - 11:24
  • How Alec uses existing clients and supporters inside his webinars as live social proof so they end up selling for him in the comments - 17:10
  • The real-time hard close Alec ran on a longtime lead, live in front of the entire audience - 17:41
  • Why speaking to a room should sound exactly like speaking to one person and what happens the moment you stop doing that - 20:00

Whether you're a solo agent, a team leader or a broker-owner, this conversation is a real look at how to build an audience, trade leads the right way and grow through webinars and live events without losing what makes people trust you in the first place.
