This week we join AZ Mike and Shannon at the warbirds and classics 2024 held here in Phoenix, AZ. We are joined by special guest Scott Berryman from Boulder, CO. This is Scotts first warbirds and classics event and we discuss our favorite planes and the flying we were able to do and some of the amazing things we saw during the event. During our show some event goers decided to ground test a Panther turbine in the background and tried to overpower our show! But we pushed through it. We are sorry for the turbine noise during our recording. But we had loads of fun and enjoyed having Scott on the show. Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to your comments and suggestions. AZ Mike has moved his mobile bunker to his other secret location outside Jays door! The boys have some explosive fun with a 3D printed plane that fell into their laps! Mike helps Jay get over some bad flying habits and apprehension flying his L-39.

AZ Mike is in his secondary bunker located next to Cheyenne Mountain Complex and notices that his L-39 having problems flying in Colorado. We’ll explore issues with high density altitude and Mikes trip to the rocky mountain state.

Things are starting to return to “semi-normal”. Texas has started opening up the state and are letting folks move around. AK Mike was so bored that he spent time letting all the “Blue” smoke put his electronics on a new plane build and he is not too happy about that!

The boys had some credit on their long distance calling card and gave “AJ” the Marketing Director of SonicModell/ZOHD a call at his office in Guangdong China! Jay, AK Mike talked about their favorite planes in their fleet ( Nano Talon, Orbit, Micro Skyhunter, Mini AR. Wing). AJ discusses the differences between the SonicModell and the newer ZOHD products. He also lets the PP listeners in on a new battery line called “Lionpack” that they are releasing this year which long distance FPV’ers will love! These batteries sound great but you do need to get your system tweaked right to get the maximum performance from them. The guys talk about all the factors you need too consider.

Last week our Host Jay from the Hills of Texas had a birthday, join the guys as they discuss the package that arrived at his door. Jay walks us through his gift from AZ Mike and gets it ready for maiden. AZ Mike also picks up a few new airframes just in time for Warbirds and Classics being held in Phoenix AZ. The boys crack open the sealed bunker this week to welcome in Tim Walker, former “Angle of Attack” member. Tim fills us in on current events. AZ Mike tells Tim how he won “you call that low?” contest. We have a hoot describing a funny YouTube video that made the rounds with our RC Anti-hero “Frank”. (Warning: video is very explicit, it should only by viewed by 18+) Remember, don’t be a Frank!

We hope everyone is isolated, home and virus free! Jay opened his hermetically sealed bunker to let AK Mike in with a bunch of planes to fix and a broken throttle on a real paramotor. The guys design fixes for the planes using Jay”s 3D printer. AZ Mike goes to the Jet rally in Tucson AZ and sees some cool birds. Later he has a mishap and major repair on his newest 3D plane! AK mike finishes one xmas gift and starts the “chuck glider challenge”.

Sunday is the final day of the Electric Festival. The guys sit down with Shannon to review the weekends events, then pack up and head out to the flying field for the after party. The episode wraps up with our Monday trip out to the flying field and everyone gets a turn flying something. This year was, as always, a great event and if you have not attended one please make plans to come see us next year as we meet up again in sunny Arizona for fun and flight.

Well day two of our event brings Scott Todd to the show. Scott is a rocket scientist who has some amazing talent taking old Kraft radios and restoring them with all new electronics and making them work with the new modern 2.7ghz receivers. Jay gets in inside look at the radio and we discuss the idea behind taking the old and making it new. Bryce Hatfield from Critical RC also joins us with his new line of FLEXCESSORIES. Critical RC manufactures landing gear and wheels for the Flex Innovations line of aircraft. Its always a good time when Bryce is on the field and you can expect nothing less than full throttle 3D flying and fantastic showmanship. Doug joins us for the night fly and recounts his thoughts from the days events. AK Mike continues to interview folks attending his clubs first Huckfest! Glenn Gifford describes his noble efforts to bring youth into the aviation fold though the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) program and RC. John Shippo makes the long trip from Oklahoma City with his brother and Dad to enjoy the festivities. AK Mike interviews another “Mike” who is a local club member and super RC fanatic. AK Mike finishes the festivities by interviewing the Jennings, a humble father & son who’s family has been into RC for 3 generation! If the name sounds familiar that maybe because Johnathan Jennings is a former NOF freestyle champion and Dad John was a member of the Texas Heatwave Aerobatic showteam, AMA airshow Team!

No, the boys were not shucking corn at the state fair in Nebraska! AK Mike saved some money on the travel budget and attend the Richardson Radio Control Club for a 3 day 3D flying throw down in Dallas. At the event Mike got a chance to catch up with are old buddy Tim Hanstein from Northwest RC. Mike also had chance to talk to a young champion and club member Rhett Lambert on his latest win! Jay finishes his 3D printing project for his fuel can/ fuel pump and tells what things tripped him up.

well this week was filled with Special Projects, Michael is putting the final touches on the RC Trailer and Jay got his 3D printer in the mail and man has it been a pain. AK Mike lost his internet due to the dry heat in Dallas and Doug LeRoy joins our hosts to talk about his upcoming Wings over Springs event.

The model comes ready to fly but needs some Painting so off to the shop to try his hand at Air Brushing with AZ Mike. Philip, the newest member/media director of the ParkFlyer podcast goes off to Miami to interview members of the AMPS – Aero Modelers of Perrine during their WWI fly-in called the “Dawn Patrol.” AZ and AK Mike are hanging out for the week of shenanigans as well.

We got lots of flying in and was able to help Jim trim out some of his airplanes and get Jay comfortable with his new L-39. Hard to believe time is up but the look back over all the experiences and fun brings a laugh or two. Mike heads back to AZ and is able to attend the 1/8th air force event for one last day of flying. This first week has just zipped by for Michael and Jay.  With all the ups and downs of getting out to the flying field and having radio problems that was actually easily fixed but a week late, the time has just been to fast.  This week the guys are able to head down to San Antonio to the Alamo Radio Control Society and fly with the guys down there.  The field is amazing and Bill P, was able to join the broadcast and talk about his field.  Its amazing that this club has been around for such a long time and the guys are super fun and have some great stories.  Bill Surrat was a great Host to us and let us use his charger because we forgot our adapters for ours….just one more thing to add to the list.  We had loads of fun and interview both Bills for our podcast.  We spent more time at Jays field and flew some more of Jim’s aircraft to help with the set ups. Cant believe its already been a week and this one is well on its way.  Join us for our chat about all the things that can happen when trying to get to the field.

As it turns out Michael sent a nice big box down to Jay for his birthday in the form of a Freewing L39. Not wanting Jay to have to go it alone Michael heads down to Texas for a visit and some RC Fun. Michael discusses the weeks flying with Jim and loosing the tiny Whoop quad. Lots more have happened but we only have an hour so sit back and enjoy the ups and downs of RC flying.

Sunday morning brings SupaTim to the show, Northwest RC owner and avid 3D pilot Tim Hanstine joins us to talk about his new line of RC products. We are excited to see some of the new SkyWing products that will be coming out this summer. Along with the Extreme Flight product line Tim will be adding to his line up with the new arrivals. Shannon visits us as the show closes and gives his thoughts on the weekend. Back in the studio we give Jay a call and recount the weekends highlights. Welcome to the AZEF. This is the 20th year of this event and we are excited to be a part of the festivities. Day one was spent setting up and dodging winds and weather and finishing up putting all the aircraft together and charging batteries. This year we added some video to our podcast over on our you tube channel and spent the day testing it out and trying to get it all to work. So this episode starts us on a very busy second day. Friday morning channel 10 the local Fox news, did a spot for us on the event and Michael flew several airplanes for them as B roll so they could use it in their broadcast. The Parkflyer Podcast was all over the news with our new gear and as it turned out we had a massive turnout of spectators who all sought us out to ask questions since they saw our staff all over the TV. Fun was had by all and lots of flying and running around covering questions and answer sessions the day just flew by….Join us as we start and finish the day on this episode and check out our coverage of the event on our you tube channel.

This is the 15th year for the AZEF and Shannon and his staff did not disappoint. The podcast crew arrived early thursday and participated in the set up and fun fly.  Friday was the start of the event and Shannon explains the program and excitement for this year.  Big Mike Calloway over from California displays his incredible building skills with his two large scale planes.  The 14ft Cessna was the star of the show.  Although it arrived in all its glory, we had no idea that it had not been flown.  AZ Mike was asked to take it around the pattern for its first flight and it was spectacular as advertised.  Big Mike discusses his builds and how he got into the hobby and tells his story.  After a long day on the flight line and 3 maiden flights the guys hit the night fly and stay till everyone else turned in for the night.  Late night podcasting brings this episode to a close as the guys discuss the days events after a hard day of flying.  Say tuned for Saturdays episode its full of surprises….If you haven’t already joined our ParkFlyer Podcast Listeners group on facebook, head on over and join the Fun….

AZ Mike tells a tall tale of Spanish “high tech” hockey pucks that determine the CG on his huge “Dumpster dive” salvaged 3D Katana project. AK Mike has been contributing to the INAV Open Source community by giving them a “Fork” and Jay has been modding his Taranis transmitter by building some new batteries.
