This week we join AZ Mike and Shannon at the warbirds and classics 2024 held here in Phoenix, AZ. We are joined by special guest Scott Berryman from Boulder, CO. This is Scotts first warbirds and classics event and we discuss our favorite planes and the flying we were able to do and some of the amazing things we saw during the event. During our show some event goers decided to ground test a Panther turbine in the background and tried to overpower our show! But we pushed through it. We are sorry for the turbine noise during our recording. But we had loads of fun and enjoyed having Scott on the show. Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to your comments and suggestions. Things are starting to return to “semi-normal”. Texas has started opening up the state and are letting folks move around. Jay has cracked the seal on his hermetically sealed bunker and invited AZ Mike down for a visit. AZ Mike came with toys and techniques to teach Jay how to fiberglass some of his broken gliders. AK Mike was so bored that he spent time letting all the “Blue” smoke put his electronics on a new plane build and he is not too happy about that!

The boys had some credit on their long distance calling card and gave “AJ” the Marketing Director of SonicModell/ZOHD a call at his office in Guangdong China! Jay, AK Mike talked about their favorite planes in their fleet ( Nano Talon, Orbit, Micro Skyhunter, Mini AR. Wing). AJ discusses the differences between the SonicModell and the newer ZOHD products. He also lets the PP listeners in on a new battery line called “Lionpack” that they are releasing this year which long distance FPV’ers will love! These batteries sound great but you do need to get your system tweaked right to get the maximum performance from them. The guys talk about all the factors you need too consider.

We hope everyone is isolated, home and virus free! Jay opened his hermetically sealed bunker to let AK Mike in with a bunch of planes to fix and a broken throttle on a real paramotor. The guys design fixes for the planes using Jay”s 3D printer. AZ Mike goes to the Jet rally in Tucson AZ and sees some cool birds. Later he has a mishap and major repair on his newest 3D plane! AK mike finishes one xmas gift and starts the “chuck glider challenge”.

Critical RC manufactures landing gear and wheels for the Flex Innovations line of aircraft. Doug joins us for the night fly and recounts his thoughts from the days events. Join the guys as they wrap up Mike’s visit to Texas. Two weeks have just flown by, but fun was had by all. We got lots of flying in and was able to help Jim trim out some of his airplanes and get Jay comfortable with his new L-39. Hard to believe time is up but the look back over all the experiences and fun brings a laugh or two. Mike heads back to AZ and is able to attend the 1/8th air force event for one last day of flying. This first week has just zipped by for Michael and Jay.  With all the ups and downs of getting out to the flying field and having radio problems that was actually easily fixed but a week late, the time has just been to fast.  This week the guys are able to head down to San Antonio to the Alamo Radio Control Society and fly with the guys down there.  The field is amazing and Bill P, was able to join the broadcast and talk about his field.  Its amazing that this club has been around for such a long time and the guys are super fun and have some great stories.  Bill Surrat was a great Host to us and let us use his charger because we forgot our adapters for ours….just one more thing to add to the list.  We had loads of fun and interview both Bills for our podcast.  We spent more time at Jays field and flew some more of Jim’s aircraft to help with the set ups. Cant believe its already been a week and this one is well on its way.  Join us for our chat about all the things that can happen when trying to get to the field.

As it turns out Michael sent a nice big box down to Jay for his birthday in the form of a Freewing L39. Not wanting Jay to have to go it alone Michael heads down to Texas for a visit and some RC Fun. Michael discusses the weeks flying with Jim and loosing the tiny Whoop quad. Lots more have happened but we only have an hour so sit back and enjoy the ups and downs of RC flying.

AZEF 2024 – Part 1

Welcome to the AZEF. This is the 20th year of this event and we are excited to be a part of the festivities. Day one was spent setting up and dodging winds and weather and finishing up putting all the aircraft together and charging batteries. This year we added some video to our podcast over on our you tube channel and spent the day testing it out and trying to get it all to work. So this episode starts us on a very busy second day. Friday morning channel 10 the local Fox news, did a spot for us on the event and Michael flew several airplanes for them as B roll so they could use it in their broadcast. The Parkflyer Podcast was all over the news with our new gear and as it turned out we had a massive turnout of spectators who all sought us out to ask questions since they saw our staff all over the TV. Fun was had by all and lots of flying and running around covering questions and answer sessions the day just flew by….Join us as we start and finish the day on this episode and check out our coverage of the event on our you tube channel.

This is the 15th year for the AZEF and Shannon and his staff did not disappoint. The podcast crew arrived early thursday and participated in the set up and fun fly.  Friday was the start of the event and Shannon explains the program and excitement for this year.  Big Mike Calloway over from California displays his incredible building skills with his two large scale planes.  The 14ft Cessna was the star of the show.  Although it arrived in all its glory, we had no idea that it had not been flown.  AZ Mike was asked to take it around the pattern for its first flight and it was spectacular as advertised.  Big Mike discusses his builds and how he got into the hobby and tells his story.  After a long day on the flight line and 3 maiden flights the guys hit the night fly and stay till everyone else turned in for the night.  Late night podcasting brings this episode to a close as the guys discuss the days events after a hard day of flying.  Say tuned for Saturdays episode its full of surprises….If you haven’t already joined our ParkFlyer Podcast Listeners group on facebook, head on over and join the Fun….
