Today we are celebrating Dublin Zoo's Conservation Master Plan! Jack is joined by the brilliant Andrew Mooney to discuss how this came to be, what it contains and how it is aiming to create a complete paradigm shift within the organisation!

Jack and Andrew also talk about the IUCN Centre for Species Survival which is based at the zoo and how the organisation is working with all kinds of groups from the public to policy makers to ensure that conservation is always on the agenda. 

Finally, the duo also discuss increasing accessibility to the conservation space – both for members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as young people!

Today Jack is celebrating International Chameleon Day with Chris Anderson and Fano Ratsoavina from the IUCN Chameleon Specialist Group! With over 200 different species, chameleons are some of the most incredibly inspiring animals on Earth - you are going to fall in love with them!

Today, the group dispel some of the misconceptions people have surrounding chameleons, celebrate their uniqueness and tell you all about how you can help to protect them! 

They also discuss how you can celebrate International Chameleon Day, discover what made Chris and Fano fall in love with Chameleons in the first place, and discuss some of their favourite 'non-chameleon' under-appreciated species!

On today's show Jack is joined by the amazing Laura Young, who may be better known to some of you as Less Waste Laura! She is a climate activist who is passionate about protecting our oceans, and today she is here to tell us about a number of protests that will be going on all across the UK on April 23rd 2022. Organised by Surfers Against Sewage, these protests hope to secure a better, cleaner future for our oceans! 

Jack and Laura also make the time to chat about some of the things you can do for our oceans beyond the protests, and what inspired Laura to act for the ocean in the first place!

This week Jack is joined by the brilliant Deborah Tabart to highlight Australia’s most iconic animal, the Koala! The pair discuss how the Koala has become politicised, the numerous threats that it faces, and how the Australian Koala Foundation is fighting to protect this incredible species. This includes conversations about their work on the Koala Manifesto, Kiss Points and the Koala Protection Act!

Jack and Deborah also discuss how government and industry must do more to protect the Koala, the importance of respecting Mother Nature, and a whole host of other Australian icons such as flying foxes, snakes, whale sharks, Steve Irwin, and the Great Barrier Reef!

Deborah is the Chair of the Australian Koala Foundation, and has dedicated her life to the protection of this amazing species. She has received one of Australia’s highest individual honours, the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), and she is a leading voice in the protection of Koalas. There is really no one better to talk to about these topics!

The pair talk about what tapirs are, why they undoubtedly have the cutest babies in the animal kingdom, and how we can all act to protect them. They also discuss what it is like to chair an IUCN specialist group, the importance of removing negative stereotypes from animals, and the power of crazy ideas!

Patrícia runs the Lowland Tapir Conservation Initiative and Chairs the IUCN Tapir Specialist Group, so there really is a lot of ground to cover and there is no one better to discuss these amazing animals with!

Welcome to ReZOO – the Zoo Review Podcast! This week Jack and Jodi discuss 'The Scottish Deer Centre', a zoo which specialises in different species of Deer and the other animals which live around them. First, the duo share some of the perks of being a volunteer and discuss the various doors that these experiences open. They then discuss Connor's current role in the Bristol Zoo education team; the future of Bristol Zoo & the Wild Place Project; and Connor's favourite under-represented species, the Desertas wolf spider – a somewhat spooky, but incredibly beautiful and unique creature!
