In this episode, I speak to Robert Salters who writes mini-agnostic rule sets. You hear about them in the show, but the one you may know of most is Battlespace, an ultra-modern solo/co-op rule set with some interesting mechanics, which you will hear about in the chat. It was fun to talk to Robert, and I thank him on our behalf for taking the time to chat.

Ep 221: Dave Taylor (The Art of)05 May 202301:13:21

In this episode, I speak to Dave Taylor the Publisher extraordinaire. Dave finds miniature painters who are interesting and who he feels are deserving of a spotlight in which to express their ethos and skill. These books are called The Art Of and you can do a bit of a search for them if you want and see if they tickle your fancy. I think Dave is an interesting guy and it is an interesting concept so check it out if you want. Check out ep 177 for a little more insight into Dave and his history, we dont talk about it in this show, so maybe refresh by listening to that before you slide the whip off the underpants of this episode.

In this episode I speak to Nick Komarev a normal hobby man just like you and me. We talk about his hobby journey and his love of Star Wars Armada.

I’m releasing this now as he just posted about his vasectomy on our discord, so I thought he can listen to this whilst his nads get better. Put some ice on them Nick and all will be well.

Ep 135: Why I love Age of Sigmar (Brent Henneberry)14 Jun 201901:18:45

This episode I talk to Brent Henneberry about all of the reasons why he loves Age of Sigmar. Age of Sigmar needs no introduction but if indeed it does then it is a 28mm scale fantasy tabletop war-game set in lots of different mortal realms.

I always enjoy just relaxing whilst painting and shooting the breeze about games people enjoy, I hope you do too!

This episode I talk to B.Bone from Tabletop tactics. Tabletop tactics is a YouTube channel plus a paid service where you can access D&D and Warhammer 40k content.

The content they put together is varied with great levels of production quality plus some genuine characters with enthusiasm for what they do.

Ep 131: Colin (Dish Dash Games: Skirmish Sangin/Ultra Combat Normandy)18 May 201901:09:10

This episode I talk to Colin from Dish Dash Games. Colin has created a number of skirmish and small force tabletop games that have a strong narrative aspect and lend aspects from his love of RPGs. As we talk you will hear about the games but the 2 most prominently featured are Skirmish Sangin, a modern skirmish game set in Afghanistan, and Ultra Combat Normandy, a platoon sized game set in WW2.

Colin was originally from England but moved to New Zealand and his experience of creating games in that area and how technology has allowed him to distribute his work is interesting to hear.

As with all of the episodes it is great just to listen to someones insight and hear about their journey, especially someone who balances a full time job & a hobby that not only fulfils themselves but also benefits us all by giving us great games to play, thanks Colin and keep it up!

Ep 128: Thibaud from Triton Noir (V Commandos/Assassins Creed)03 May 201901:17:23

This week I speak to Thibaud from Triton Noir about his personal insight and experience, his V Commandos game and the upcoming Assassins Creed game. Triton Noir is a company formed by Thibaud in Montreal Canada, their first game V Commandos was kick-started & off the back of that Assassins Creed Brotherhood of Venice, which sees an evolution and refinement of the V Commandos dynamic, came to Kickstarter recently and saw over 1.3 million Canadian dollars pledged.

The late pledge is open until November 2019 so I encourage you to take a look at the game if you haven’t already. Paint All The Minis is an independent entity and that is my opinion, just my opinion alone but anything I felt that was missing in V Commandos, which is fantastic by the way and you should check that out too, has been addressed by the Assassins Creed game.

Thibaud came across as an intelligent, kind, open, and enthusiastic person and it is always a delight to find someone behind something you love is such a great person too. I wish Thibaud all the best in the future and I cant wait to see what he comes up with next.

This week I talk to Joe Krone of Watchful I Studios. Joe has created a range of asian mythological minis for use in a number of game systems. From terracotta warriors to foo dogs and headless giants with faces in their chests Joe has gone to town with some interesting sculpts and models.

As you hopefully know with Paint All The Minis it is not just about products people have created it is the story of the person behind and the build up to what they create and it was great talking to Joe and hearing about the inspirations and the formative steps he made before releasing this model range, he has some great stories and insights.

If you like the idea of an Asian inspired army, or enemies for your RPG games then check out Watchful I Studios, equally if you have a friend who loves that dynamic then make sure you pass it on. Joe is a passionate guy looking to do more and he needs support if he is going to do so, so check it out and pass it on.

This episode I talk to Dan about all of the reasons why he loves Moonstone.

You may remember in episode 123 I spoke to Tom Greenway about his personal history and also Moonstone from a creators standpoint. As you know Paint All The Minis is about generating and sharing goodwill in the hobby community and it has been great to put together 2 Moonstone podcasts to try to get more people aware of this game as it is one I have a genuine interest in. It is always great when you have an interest in something and when you look a little closer it only pulls you further in.

Tom seems a really genuine and positive person. Moonstone is innovative and engaging. I wish the game all the best and it has been great learning more about it over the last 6 - 8 weeks.

Ep 123: Tom Greenway (Moonstone: Goblin King Games)29 Mar 201901:14:28

This episode I talk to Tom Greenway of Goblin King Games. Tom created the tabletop skirmish game Moonstone. It features a number of innovative features and components that make the game truly stand out from others such as the melee and arcane components along with some amazing minis full of character. I won’t spoil any of the conversation but I will say that there is a current Kickstarter for Moonstone available and will be until April 12, so if you are a prompt listener you can take a look, and if you are listening to us in the future then there is still an opportunity to hear if Moonstone is for you and you can take a look and see if it is for you.

As always if you decide it isn’t for you but know someone who would love it then please pass it on. The articles on PATM.com, this podcast, or even just Goblin King Games’ website would all be great. I’d love for Tom to do more of what he loves and bring us amazing content!

It was great talking to Thomas and I thank him for taking some time to speak to me, it took us months to find a time we were both free but I am so glad we managed to find time to talk.

This show marks pretty much 2 years to the day since I started the show. 117 episodes plus a number of specials in 2 years isn’t so bad eh! I have made sure that I release at least one a week and I hope that in some small way it has allowed you to get your hobby on at a slightly higher level, its been amazing to see what has been achieved over 3 years of the Paint All The Minis Facebook group and 2 years of podcasting, will be interesting to see where we get to on another few years.

Ep 116: Dan Faulconbridge (Wargames Illustrated Magazine)15 Feb 201900:54:09

This week I speak to Mr Dan Faulconbridge of Wargames Illustrated. Wargames Illustrated is a monthly magazine by war gamers for war gamers that comes in both a physical and electronic format. They also offer a Prime service where you can get a more in-depth experience in the form of video content plus also access to their back catalogue which is certainly worth a look.

Another little sweetener to the deal, and something Dan mentions in the show is the free models you can receive with Wargames Illustrated. You can pick up the magazine and get some models that can be a fun change of pace or equally the beginning of a new journey in the hobby.

It was brilliant talking to Dan for a number of reasons & it was great to hear a little of his story and get to know him. The conversation is a little garbled in a couple of sections due to a poor connection on Skype but these sections are pretty integral to the chat, around 11 minutes is one such areas. Apologies for this, it is a rarity, but the upshot is that I am sure I will have to extend another invite to Dan from the show and do another in the future.

I hope you enjoy our chat and finding out more about a great guy in the hobby community.

Drek put together a whole getting started series of videos for Drop Fleet from a cinematic narrative of the lore to unboxing, painting, and playing your first game. Its a YouTube channel that genuinely reflects one man’s journey into and through this amazing hobby. The best chats I have are always with people of genuine care and passion and Andy is certainly one.

The intro is brief as I wont lie, this episode has been sitting in the podbank for aeons and its about time it has its 10 minutes in the sun, I must apologies profusely to Andy for not releasing sooner, it is no reflection of my thoughts on his episode, I just stepped away at the time it was due to be released.

I hope you enjoy!

For those people not aware A Song of Ice & Fire is a table top war game set in the Game of Thrones universe and pits units of warriors against each other with help from non combat units off the battle field and also a hand deck of tactics cards that can change the flow of the battle.

It was great talking to Chase, it was fun for me to talk with someone else as enthusiastic about this game as I am. If you enjoy historical/fantasy war games then I encourage you to check it out as I personally love it and it is always close to the top of the suggestion list when a gaming friend and I are thinking about what to play.

Thanks to Chase for coming onto the show and make sure you check out his A Song of Ice and Fire podcast which you can find on his facebook page if you like the game and want to find out more.

Back in episode 87 I spoke to Alex Davy the main developer of Star Wars Legion & it was brilliant to talk to Jay about all of the things he has loved about the game and where he feels it will go in the future.

If you aren’t aware of Star Wars Legion then simply put it is a 28mm scale tabletop war game set in the Star Wars galaxy with some great art work, simple to pick up rules, and some great models.

Thanks to Jay for coming onto the show to tell us why he loves the game so much and if you enjoy the game too then check out the Fifth Trooper podcast if you haven’t already

This week I speak to Rich from Too Fat Lardies. Rich and his partner Nick create rules for a number of genres from the black powder era, WW2, to Sci Fi.

During our chat we talk about Rich’s background along with a number of different areas that came up when we chatted. This episode is literally hot off the press, I only just recorded it and so there maybe a few rougher edges than usual but I wanted to make sure that you guys had an episode to listen to.

It was a genuine pleasure to talk to Rich and I hope you enjoy the show, if you haven’t checked out any Too Fat Lardies games then make sure you do. As I allude to in the show it is very easy to pick up a rule set and play with figures you already have, you wont need to buy hundreds of pounds worth of new models to interact with their rule sets, plus how they focus on characters in their games is a really fun aspect.

Ep 109: Adam Kwapiński (Nemesis/Lords of Hellas)28 Dec 201801:07:36

This week I talk to Adam Kwapiński a board game designer from Poland. Adam has created a number of games you will know but most notably Nemesis, a sci fi semi cooperative game with minis & Lords of Hellas, two fantastic games.

I loved talking to Adam and there were some epic sound bites in our chat. An alien could never be as bad as any human you can meet is one for sure when he was talking about the semi cooperative nature of nemesis.

He was a great guy to speak to and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say thanks for the amazing games so far and that we cant wait to hear more from him.

I hope you enjoy the show.

https://www.paintalltheminis.com/paint-all-the-minis-news/2018/11/23/jagged-alliance-why-i-want-to-know-more

It was great talking to Jan about the game, its mechanics and some of the highlights along with some of his personal insight and experience, and also the future of Underground Games.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone who celebrates that sort of thing, to celebrate we just this week released a whole new line up of merch products. We have had 5 new designs commissioned by the immensely talented Ben Doane. I personally love them and I am super excited to get my hands on them so I can geek out in style!

The PATM merch is designed to not only give you something cool to have but it is also focused on generating a little income to improve the variety & quality of the content we offer on all of our platforms. All the bat reps, video content, written content, give aways, & competitions all cost us right now. But if you like our designs and purchase some things then not only do you get something you like but any profit generated goes straight back into improving the stuff we do, so please consider taking a look and choosing to support us.

Special wee prezzie episode : A good old ramble about time...time, and content consumption...23 Aug 202101:26:20

Heyyyyy,

It's been too long, you bunch of Mother'lickers!!

Matt hit me up to have a chat on his show about our hobby time, how we find it, when should we hobby, and how much. Thanks to Matt for the invite plus also suggesting we could put it up on our regular stream too. You can find his podcast here:

https://bedroombattlefields.com/tmhpodcast/seasonal-hobbying-passion/

If you want so save yourself some time then: Find the time as you can, make yourself do it, unless that harms you, in which case dont do it, but dont then moan! haha, but ultimately just do what you want.

Oh, I also have a bit of a vent on content production, whilst also being incredibly respectful of how hard it is to create content and also who am I to poo poo it!

Enjoy, hope to be back chatting more in the future, I miss you all, but not you...you I dont miss.

Dan.xxx

Ep 106: Joseph McCullough (Rangers of Shadow Deep/Frostgrave)07 Dec 201801:10:49

This week I talk to once again to Joseph McCullough the man behind Frostgrave, ghost archipelago & most recently Rangers of Shadow deep.

I always enjoy talking to Joseph as he is a really down to earth and open guy. In the show we talk about what has changed since I spoke to him back in episode 66 and also about his bridging of choose your own adventure, RPG, Coop, and, tabletop skirmish gaming that is Rangers of Shadow Deep.

As I mention heavily in the show I love Joseph’s work for the reason that he lays the table but we get to interact with his feast in our own way, building your Ranger and his band, choosing their traits and talents even before the game has begun adds a layer to the game that means it is super immersive and engaging. If you haven’t checked out Rangers of Shadow Deep yet then make sure you do as it is a great game with more content incoming!

Thanks to Joseph for taking some time out of his very busy schedule to talk to me, it was a pleasure as always.

Ep 105: Why I love Konflikt '47 (Dave Munro)30 Nov 201801:04:42

This week I talk to Dave Munro about why he loves Konflikt ’47. You’ll hear more about the game, its rules, and its genre in the show but a snapshot is that it is a weird world war 2 tabletop game but warlord games.

I thought it was about time we had another why I love podcast, its always great hearing about why people love particular games. Thanks to Dave for taking the time to talk to me, was a blast getting to know him a little more.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Ep 104: Marcin (Awaken Realms Fall of Avalon: Tainted Grail)28 Nov 201801:08:30

This week I talk to Marcin from Awaken Realms. Awaken Realms create board games that feature great minis. I was first aware of Awaken Realms through their This War of Mine board game that I played around a year ago. It is a really deep and immersive game that is thought provoking and has a very serious subject area but never the less it is engaging and interesting.

More recently I backed their Nemesis board game. This looks amazing, the minis alone are great. Awesome space ship crew members and vicious aliens, a great painting challenge. The game looks equally brilliant however and the story seems rich and deep, the idea of a semi cooperative game is also really good. Most recently I became aware of Fall of Avalon: Tainted Grail. A new game coming to Kick Starter December 5th 2018. I personally see this as a refinement, progression of, and another spin on This War of Mins in terms of some of the subject matter the players will have to face up to. Death, injury, insanity, it looks great and I cant wait to hear more.

This was the first time I have spoken to Marcin and if you are new to PATM you may not know that PATM is not necessarily a podcast about news or features. This podcast is a chat with Marcin about his personal insight and experience, we get to know him a little more, his opinions on things, his motivations, and his view points. I do hope to try and sneak in a podcast with him very soon to discuss Tainted Grail in detail.

It was a great chat but I felt that we were only scratching the surface of what we could have talked about and there are so many more questions I have for him. Fingers crossed he comes back on soon and we can chat more specifically about his games.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Ep 103: Sean Sutter (Relic Blade: The Moldorf Expedition)23 Nov 201801:07:44

This week I talk once again to Sean Sutter of Metal King studio and the creator of the Relic Blade tabletop skirmish game.

I spoke to Sean back in Episode 39 so if you want to hear more about his personal history and Relic Blade in general then listen to that also.

Its always great to speak to Sean as his passion, talent, and positivity really shine through. The main focus of this discussion was what has changed in Relic Blade since we last spoke and also the current (as of Nov 2018) Kickstarter Campaign The Moldorf Expedition.

It was brilliant talking to him about the lore, the dwarves, the elves, and other assorted areas. Make sure you check out the Relic Blade game as it really is a genuinely engaging game with a cool story & amazing artwork.

Ep 96: Sustainable Gaming (Tero Kanko)19 Oct 201801:16:03

This week I talk to Tero Kanko in another sustainable gaming podcast. This is the last of 2, I will shut up about it after this. But if you remember from episode 95 the idea of sustainability, something that we can do for a long time is something that really interests me. I see a lot of people across a great many hobbies that spend a lot of money to buy into it but then never seem to get any value out of it in terms of hours spent, but I digress.

It was great not only talking to Tero about his own personal history but it was also great hearing about his personal history and also how he found Paint All The Minis.

Dont forget to check out paintalltheminis.com for a whole raft of other content such as bat reps, unboxings, paint tutorials etc. Plus also come and show us what you are painting on the Paint All The Minis Facebook group, or just lurk about and see what others are painting. Remember no one will judge you negatively for your work, we just want to share in your hobby and celebrate you getting your brushes out.

Ep 95: Sustainable Gaming (Jesse Ryan Chadwick)12 Oct 201801:15:14

This week I talk to Jesse about not only his personal journey into the hobby but also around the idea of making our gaming experience sustainable.

Sustainable in terms of what we can do to make our gaming experience as engaging as possible for us for the longest amount of time. This revolved around 3 main areas, playing regularly, painting regularly, and having a to do pile that is manageable.

Now I am not advocating telling people how to hobby, if your have fun doing whatever you do then do it. But I am very interested in exploring the things that people who have the most fun in tabletop gaming do, and wondering that if you maximise your fun and engagement if it makes you want to do if for a longer period.

I do believe for me personally that when I play regularly, when I play painted & paint regularly, and when I keep my to do pile manageable then I have had the most fun. If any of those drops off then it has been a bit more of a struggle. But thats me, I am sure there as many different ideas on this as there are people who play.

Join me and Jesse as we discuss what it means and what he does to keep the hobby interesting.

Keep Paintin’

Ep 94: Nick (British Legion Youtube Channel)05 Oct 201801:02:23

It is my hope over the next 6 - 9 months to begin to work with other caring & enthusiastic content producers to give you all an interesting website with genuinely engaging content. Even just at the moment I am working with over a dozen people to provide content for it.

It is exciting times for PATM and I hope that you are all looking forward to interacting more with us. Dont forget to come over and check us out at paintalltheminis.com

Getting back to Nick he will be working with us and providing some of his own brand of enthusiasm to get us excited about minis, his first video us already up where he unboxed The Bondsmen, a faction from The Drowned Earth Miniatures Game. If you like the video then you can check out Episode 9 & 17 where I talk to the games creator James Baldwin.
