TFMR procedures - what we wish medical professionals would have explained12 sept. 202600:43:21

After and within the huge decision to end a wanted pregnancy for health reasons, you have to make many many micro-decisions. And you can't know what you don't know - cue medical staff who can orient and guide us through it in the best of cases.

In this episode I share from the community about procedure & memory making options you wish the doctors/staff/social workers/bereavement midwives did or could have EXPLAINED better, or OFFERED, or SAID through the whole diagnosis/termination.

TFMR parents share their experiences with termination procedures and what they wished medical staff had explained & offered - as well as what did go right and what was the most helpful.

I also talk about rituals/remembrance items/right language that ARE offered and used at many place people have terminations for medical reasons & what was the most impactful.

(Part 2 of 2) Life & recovery after TFMR for T21 & hydrops with Catt Gibbons09 sept. 202600:16:40

Catt Gibbons shares (Part 2 of 2) about her mental and physical recovery after TFMR for T21 & hydrops, and how having so much compassion for herself after the decision has helped the most in her life after terminating her wanted pregnancy for health reasons.

Catt talks about finding TFMR support groups as KEY to her healing. Advocating for herself and getting follow-up care with bleeding and retained placenta helped her physical recovery. Taking time to cry and to listen to music, and speaking out about TFMR has helped her so much. Being kind with herself when she finds herself feeling guilt or what-ifs, especially when reading miraculous survival stories, that are not our stories or reality.

(Part 1 of 2) How Catt Gibbons decided to end her wanted pregnancy for T21 and hydrops | TFMR for Down's Syndrome & Hydrops08 sept. 202600:18:02

Catt Gibbons shares (Part 1 of 2) how to be so kind and compassionate to yourself after TFMR. The compassion and care stared in how she decided to TFMR and the care she received through the process and procedure.

Catt went through TFMR for her little boy Noah for a T21 and hydrops diagnosis. She found out her baby was poorly in pregnancy at 12 weeks along. From there the prenatal diagnosis of T21 followed, and follow-up for hydrops in the weeks that followed led Catt to need to end her wanted pregnancy.

Listen in to Part 2 of 2 (coming out tomorrow) to hear about Catt’s mental and physical recovery after TFMR baby loss.

TFMR is intentional birth - TFMR parents share their birth choice stories04 sept. 202600:27:18

I recently watched an interview of someone who had carried to term after a grave diagnosis, and the interviewer kept going on and on about how “intentional” this choice was. Which, yes, it IS an intentional choice, but I was stuck by how TFMR is rarely seen as “so intentional and wonderful” AS WELL AS CTT (continuing to term).

So I decided to bring light to the deep INTENTION within the termination for medical reasons experience, since it is so often not spoken about or very misunderstood.

I went into our TFMR Support Circle Facebook group and asked fellow parents/moms/dads in there about THEIR stories of the intention in their decisions and births and birthing choices.

This episode is for you if you’ve been feeling how TFMR is often misunderstood or seen as “less than.” You’ll hear me talk about why and where this systemic misunderstanding is coming from, and how that can even hurt us after the fact and make us question the love and intentionality in our loving choices.

And in this episode we invite you to join us in the TFMR space that could work for you, places just for TFMR parents:

Getting through the grief after a TFMR for brain anomalies & rare genetic condition - Morgan Meaut shares her baby Collins' story (part 2 of 2)10 août 202600:28:54

Morgan continues sharing her story (part 2 of 2) of life and grief and healing after a termination for medical reasons for a rare genetic disorder in her baby girl Collins.

…

Morgan shares how this podcast and the community has helped immensely throughout her grief and TFMR journey over the months since her loss.

Living in Atlanta, Georgia, Morgan faced steep legal difficulties to obtain a termination at nearly 24 weeks gestation. Ultimately, the state of Georgia approved her case, and she underwent a termination at 23 weeks and 6 days at an abortion clinic. It was the worst day of her life.

Since the death of her daughter, Morgan has been on a journey of learning how to survive unimaginable grief while still showing up as a mother to her living child, and also learning how to continue being a mother to Collins — honoring her, loving her, and carrying her, even though she is no longer earthside.

How Morgan Meaut decided to TFMR for brain anomalies & worst case scenario rare genetic condition in her baby Collins (part 1 of 2)10 août 202600:23:23

Morgan Meaut shares her story of needing to terminate her wanted pregnancy for a rare genetic condition: 8p inverted duplication deletion syndrome, on the 23rd chromosome. Needing to make this decision for her baby girl Collins was one of the worst things she has ever been through.

At the 20-week anatomy scan Morgan and her husband received the devastating news. The ultrasound showed severe swelling, ventriculomegaly and single cord. A follow up MRI of the brain showed missing corpus collosum in Collins’ brain

This devastating diagnosis in pregnancy sent the couple on a four-week journey meeting with MFMs, genetic counselors, pediatric cardiologists, neurologists, and other specialists. Ultimately, through a genetic microarray they learned that Collins was worst case scenario. She had an extremely rare genetic condition: 8p inverted & duplication & deletion all on the 23rd chromosome. A very rare and large triple condition.

Morgan was told that if Collins survived birth and infancy, she would be profoundly disabled — likely nonverbal, unable to live independently, and requiring lifelong full-time care.

Morgan knew that was not the life they wanted for their baby.

She was living in the state of Georgia at the time of her TFMR and had to pass a state board to approve the abortion.

This is part 1 of 2 of Morgan's story where she shares how they made their decision to end their much wanted pregnancy.

(Part 1 of 2) TFMR for TTTS - twin to twin transfusion syndrome, & ectopic abortion with Jayme Serbell | How she decided to have a selective reduction23 juil. 202600:26:18

After 3 miscarriages, Jayme found out she was pregnant with twins. They were overjoyed, but then around 17 weeks a poor prenatal diagnosis was found in one baby, and eventually an even worse condition TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) was found and one baby was actively dying 💔 The only way to save the other baby was to intervene with a termination, also called "selective reduction." The delivery of the babies ended up in complications that no one saw coming.

Jayme also shares how the grief and trauma affected her postpartum period. She found it very hard to find grief spaces that could hold ALL her losses and all the details of the termination intervention.

Her next pregnancy also ended in tragedy, with a surgical intervention for an ectopic.

Regret after TFMR | Coping with the big and small decisions of termination baby loss15 juil. 202600:36:32

Sabrina talks about regret after ending a wanted pregnancy and how it rarely looks the way people expect. Sometimes it's not regret over the decision to interrupt the pregnancy, but over the “smaller” (still huge) pieces around it... not taking enough pictures, not holding your baby long enough, declining genetic testing in a moment you weren't in the right headspace for. Sometimes the regret is about how you were treated during your termination for medical reasons... coerced, under-informed, never told what a labor and delivery induction would actually feel like, or that a funeral was even an option. And sometimes it's that tight, familiar pit in your stomach: what if my baby’s condition had changed, was the diagnosis severe enough to choose TFMR, could I have handled a "good enough" outcome after all.

If you've been Googling “how to cope with regret after TFMR” or "is it normal to regret my TFMR”, or you swing back and forth between peace and guilt sometimes in the same breath, you're not broken and you didn't make the wrong call. Sabrina gets into why TFMR grief and regret get weaponized against parents online, why gray diagnoses and "good enough" outcomes can torture us just as much as a fatal one, and the reframe that's helped her most in her own healing... that regret, underneath all of it, IS love and comes from love.

Obvious & subtle ways grief spaces fail TFMR parents08 juil. 202600:40:49

Sabrina shares the unfortunate comments she and others in the community have heard about TFMR: "But how old were you when it happened?" "Well that's not reeeeally an abortion." "I would never..."

Comments like these can actually feel MORE harmful that direct insults to TFMR/baby loss/abortion. Because other people around, or group leaders, or fellow general grievers might not "get" how painful these subtle things feel to TFMR parents. So we're talking about it!

How we decided - TFMR for T21 with Bianca Johnson (Part 1 of 2)05 juil. 202600:48:34

How we decided - TFMR for T21 & grey diagnosis. Bianca Johnson shares her baby boy's down syndrome diagnosis and all the other pregnancy complications that came into play on her decision and more. Sabrina also shares lots of stories from other TFMR parents who also had a T21 diagnosis and how they decided to end their wanted pregnancies too.

Bianca Johnson had already been through 6 pregnancy losses when she found herself in the impossible space of a T21 down syndrome diagnosis. What guided her decision to terminate wasn't just the medical appointments, CVS test results, or the terrifying words from a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who listed every way this pregnancy could kill her. It was a dream she'd had weeks before... a child standing at a crossroads, refusing to cross, saying simply: this is as far as I go.

When the T21 diagnosis finally came, Bianca already knew. The baby had told her.

In this Part 1 of 2, Bianca, empowerment coach and author of All of These Lines, shares the raw, layered story of how she and her husband decided to have an abortion in their T21 pregnancy in South Africa. If you're in the middle of a gray diagnosis and wondering how anyone ever makes this decision... this episode is for you.

Brain abnormalities at 20 week scan: Katie's TFMR story for corpus callosum agenesis, hydrocephalus and small cerebellum01 juil. 202600:40:55

Katie, a TFMR and multiple miscarriage mom and mom to two living kids shares her baby's story. Her daughter had a constellation of brain abnormalities - absent corpus callosum, fluid in the brain, and a small cerebellum - discovered at the 20 week scan.

Katie knew something was off before the doctor had even spoke. At this 20-week anatomy scan, Katie caught a measurement on the screen that said 16 weeks... and then the doctor delivered the devastating news that her daughter’s brain abnormalities would mean congenital blindness and severe mobility disabilities.

Because of abortion restrictions in Florida, Katie had to figure out how to leave the state to say goodbye to her daughter the way she chose.

Katie shares her story just 2.5 weeks out - raw, clear, and utterly without shame. She talks about navigating a gray diagnosis with no guarantees, flying to Virginia for her D&E while visibly pregnant, telling her living children the truth, and what it means to stand behind a decision that the world keeps trying to make complicated. For Katie the decision was clear, this is how she decided to end her wanted pregnancy.

Katie received help with funding for travel through The Brigid Alliance: https://brigidalliance.org/

Who joins Ascend TFMR Grief circles - parents like you | July start dates spots open29 juin 202600:11:56

If you are questioning whether your story fits in our grief circles, whether your diagnosis was "severe enough," or whether you'll connect with other parents who made this impossible choice, listen in 💜

The truth is, if you're asking these questions, you *do* belong here.

The parents who join our Ascend TFMR grief circles share something profound - we're all parents who chose to end suffering, even when the world doesn't understand our "choice." You followed your heart and survival through the most impossible decision love has ever asked of you.

Beyond that sacred shared experience, the parents who thrive in our circles tend to be busy but appreciate structure, they are naturally resilient (even when they don't feel it), and deeply kind - both to others and, we hope, eventually to yourselves.

Whether you have living children or are trying to conceive again, whether your diagnosis was chromosomal or structural, for you or baby, whether you're weeks or years out from your loss - your story matters here. You matter here. I want to hear from you, I want to hear your story. Connect with me here: www.thetfmrdoula.com/schedule-call or click down below to see more of the upcoming group info.

ACTUALLY dealing with shaming comments after TFMR pregnancy loss24 juin 202600:27:46

Shaming comments after TFMR - how to deal & who's shame IS it anyways?? If you've ever seen a cruel comment about TFMR and felt it land somewhere deep... this episode is for you.

Sabrina goes there - straight into the shame that gets hurled at TFMR parents by strangers, by religion, by society - and how she refuses to let it stick AND how she helps other termination after devastating diagnosis parents & her clients do the same. She walks you through her three levels of dealing with the shaming comments: from the outer noise of a world that doesn't understand abortion baby loss, to the sneaky, hard-to-name inner feeling of shame itself, to the most sacred level - your direct relationship with your baby.

Your baby is not a shame. Your TFMR is not a shame. By the end of this episode, you too will feel why that shame was never yours to carry in the first place.

For care and love and tools for the shame, guilt, longing & grief after TFMR, you are invited to join us. Our upcoming grief circles are open: small group in Ascend http://www.thetfmrdoula.com/ascend-apply

How Do I Survive This? | How other parents cope with TFMR pregnancy loss15 juin 202600:10:28

If you are asking yourself "how do I survive this?" - this episode is for you.

Sabrina speaks directly to this question she hears often... from parents facing a devastating prenatal diagnosis, from parents mid-decision, and from parents on the other side of TFMR baby loss looking to make it through. She gives you permission to throw out the "moving on" narrative entirely, and shares her S.E.E.N. framework - the four things she's guided other TFMR parents through to help them carry their grief and keep going.

You don't move on from your baby. You move with them. And there IS a way through.

Goodbye Google & Meta: How I'm protecting your TFMR / ending a wanted pregnancy story13 juin 202600:36:27

Your TFMR story is sacred - the words you share in grief circles, the journals, the downloads you've trusted with your healing, your baby's story... they MUST be handled with care. If you've been looking for TFMR support that actually protects you, this episode is for you.

Sabrina (that's me, The TFMR Doula) takes you behind the scenes on her ongoing process of moving away from big tech - Google, Meta, and the companies whose AI is quietly reading, scraping, and training on everything we put into their clouds - to build something safer for all of us. Safer for you, safer for your baby.

This isn't just about encrypted video calls or coded forums (although yes, she built the forum herself from scratch, and yes, that's pretty f-ing cool). It's about what becomes possible when TFMR parents finally feel safe... how your healing actually happens, when humans connect heart to human heart, not filtered through a platform that doesn't care about us at all. This is TFMR grief support the way it was always meant to be - private, sovereign, and completely yours.

"I feel like a monster after my TFMR" - about this tough abortion baby loss thought08 juin 202600:09:24

If you've asked yourself "am I a monster for choosing this?" this episode is for you.

Sabrina speaks directly to the thought that haunts so many TFMR parents... before, during, and long after the procedure is over. She speaks to *why* that "monster" thought creeps in once the medical crisis has passed, why both paths can feel monstrous, and why the fact that you're asking the question at all is proof that you're not one.

This is fierce parenting. This is a mama on fire. And you are not a monster.

"Reproductive Anxiety Disorder" - a call to a new classification with Alexia Leachman, expert on clearing tokophobia04 juin 202600:44:51

Today we are talking with Alexia Leachman and her call to classify tokophobia and MANY other reproductive experiences (like the trauma and anxiety that comes from baby loss) under what she calls “Reproductive Anxiety Disorder.” If your anxiety after TFMR has been brushed off as "yeah a lot of folks feel that" but you KNOW there is more to your story, listen in.

Alexia Leachman is the author of Fearless Birthing, founder of Head Trash. The Head Trash book and website and method helped her clear her tokophobia - which is the visceral, unexplainable reaction or fear of pregnancy and birth.

Life after termination for Down Syndrome - Becky's TFMR for T21 story (Part 2 of 2)19 mars 202600:19:44

In Part 2 of Becky's story, we pick up after her termination for T21 (Down Syndrome, Trisomy 21) and what life has looked like in the two and a half months since.

Becky talks about how she found the TFMR community... and how even then, she felt alone in her specific diagnosis. She shares what it was like to post her story in a mommy group and have 11 people private message her saying "me too, but don't tell anyone."

Becky talks about what nobody told her about the D&E procedure itself, that it was a two-day process. She talks about grieving loudly while her husband grieved quietly, and the moment she realized he was carrying the pain too, just differently.

Becky closes with words for anyone right now in the thick of a Trisomy 21 diagnosis, deciding whether to end their pregnancy: you're going to be able to breathe again. The first breath will feel like a gasp. But somehow, time marches on.

Thank you, Becky. Your baby boy was here, real, and so fiercely loved. <3

Deciding to end pregnancy after Down Syndrome diagnosis - Becky's TFMR story (Part 1 of 2)18 mars 202600:23:39

Becky, TFMR mom and mom to one living kid, shares her story of termination for T21. Becky was almost 40 and considering IVF when she found out she was pregnant naturally. She was over the moon to be pregnant. Then came the NIPT call... at work... while she was in front of her classroom. A heartbreaking 93% chance of T21, Trisomy 21.

In Part 1 of 2 of Becky's story, you'll hear how she decided to end her pregnancy after a Down’s Syndrome diagnosis. Becky needed to feel 100% certain before she could move forward. So she got her placenta biopsied, and when the results came back confirmed, she and her husband considered the two potential pictures of their baby's future - and what it would mean for their whole family. They thought about their ages, their firstborn toddler, finances, divorce statistics, and a world that isn't always kind. Even then, Becky was still going back and forth on her decision when more medical information - a poor pregnancy diagnosis for herself as well - also came into play.

Thank you for sharing about your baby boy and his Down Syndrome diagnosis, Becky. <3

"Will this ever end?" What's really happening in your TFMR baby loss grief (Part 2 of 2)10 févr. 202600:12:00

In Part 1, we talked about feeling "stuck" in TFMR grief and how that feeling comes from using old, outdated ideas - using a broken map. In this episode, I'm showing you what's ACTUALLY in these grief waters.

The old grief maps say "here be dragons" - monsters to fight, stages to conquer. But you've actually BEEN to this territory. You know what's really there: manatees (your baby's continuing love, the gentle waves of grief you learn to swim alongside) AND a giant squid (the soul fracture of choosing termination for a wanted baby, the impossible grief that wraps around you in the dark).

The problem? Most people refuse to believe the giant squid exists because they haven't lived it, haven't held their dead baby, haven't named a baby and then had to choose their death. You're not stuck. You're not imagining things. You're navigating waters that don't exist on anyone else's map.

And that's exactly why you need people who've seen the giant squid too.

Why "just think positive" doesn't work for TFMR baby loss grief02 févr. 202600:07:08

You know that feeling when someone tells you to "just be grateful for what you have" and it makes you want to scream? When your own family acts like you should be "over it" by now, so you plaster on a smile and pretend you're fine? If you’ve been feeling so alone after losing your wanted baby, exhausted from putting on a “I’m okay” face, and wondering if you are the problem because positive thinking isn't fixing your shattered heart - listen in <3

This episode breaks down why toxic positivity doesn't just fail to help TFMR baby loss grief - it actively makes it worse. If you've been told to focus on the positive (even trying it yourself) but your grief feels exactly as heavy, this is for you.

Megan's grief and healing after molar pregnancy and fertility loss Part 2 of 229 janv. 202600:23:24

Megan Tennis' story & journey continues after her molar pregnancy diagnosis and medical interventions. Part 2 of 2 takes us through the cancer treatments that followed, the grief that regular therapy couldn't touch, and how Megan's own experience of feeling unseen and misunderstood in traditional therapy spaces led her to specialize in pregnancy loss counseling.

Megan has created something different: a therapeutic approach specifically for pregnancy loss that actually understands what grieving parents need. She shares what that looks like in this episode and how to help validate your grief after baby loss of all kinds.

This episode is for anyone who's tried traditional therapy after pregnancy loss (especially when it is a “unique” or “rare” or “not talked about” kind of loss -like TFMR-) and felt like something was missing. For those wondering if your grief "should" look different by now. For anyone who's thought "my therapist just doesn't understand this type of loss." Megan's story shows how going through it yourself & professional training can come together to create the support that actually helps.

Megan's molar pregnancy loss, two D&C procedures and cancer treatment Part 1 of 228 janv. 202600:22:11

Megan's story begins with complications in a wanted pregnancy leading to a life-threatening molar pregnancy diagnosis. A molar pregnancy happens when what should be placenta/baby/pregnancy tissue grows abnormally instead, creating cancerous cells.

For Megan, this meant facing something she never thought would come from pregnancy: becoming a cancer patient. She found herself not only grieving the loss of her pregnancy but also having to do cancer treatments to save her own life.

Listen in to hear the raw reality of making medical pregnancy decisions under crisis conditions. If you’ve felt isolated during fertility and pregnancy health crises (that are just never talked about!)… if you wonder how to survive grieving a pregnancy that needed heartbreaking medical interventions …. if you had to make impossible choices for your body/pregnancy… this episode is for you.

The dark thoughts that nobody talks about after ending a wanted pregnancy (TFMR) for health reasons28 déc. 202500:09:49

You're not alone if you have tough, scary, horrible thoughts after ending a wanted pregnancy, terminating a wanted pregnancy, having an abortion for medical reasons. When you've lost a baby in pregnancy after a horrible prenatal diagnosis, of course not all your thoughts are cheery and light.

In this episode I talk about some hard thoughts you may be struggling with, and a safe space you could join if you'd like someone to hold you through it.

The thoughts that keep you up at 3am after TFMR aren't talked about in regular grief spaces. They're too raw, too complex, too misunderstood. But having these thoughts doesn't make you a monster… it makes you HUMAN.

In this solo episode, I share 5 of the toughest thoughts TFMR parents carry, from hoping your baby would die naturally to realizing there's no safe time in pregnancy. These aren't easy to hear, but if you've had them, you need to know you're not alone and you're not broken. We hold these thoughts together because that's the only way they become bearable.

Life after TFMR for rare genetic diagnosis: Rachel's physical & emotional recovery, and pregnancy after loss PART 2 OF 224 oct. 202500:22:38

In Part 2 of 2 of Rachel Polans' TFMR story, we move into what happened after her baby’s rare ‘de novo’ genetic mutation diagnosis. The D&E procedure in Brooklyn, the physical reality of being postpartum without a baby. Rachel talks about what it was like being in a general surgery pre-op area with people there for all kinds of procedures, not a space designed for pregnancy loss.

Rachel shares about the haunting due date, seeing other people who were pregnant at the same time have their babies, and struggling with the medical record that says "elective termination" when that's not what this was at all.

Rachel also opens up about how being a genetic counselor shaped her grief differently - she never even knew the term TFMR existed until after her loss, even though she had counseled families through this exact experience.

If you're postpartum without your baby, if you're struggling with how the medical system names (or doesn’t name) what happened to you, if you work in healthcare and nobody prepared you for living through this yourself, or if you're trying to find your people and don't know what to search for: I hope Rachel's honesty about finding the TFMR community and now navigating pregnancy after loss will help you feel less alone.

Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your baby's story with us 💜

Rare genetic mutation KAT6B, led Rachel, a genetic counselor, to decide to terminate her wanted pregnancy PART 1 OF 223 oct. 202500:21:29

In Part 1 of 2 of this real TFMR story from mother Rachel Polans, we talk about the bad diagnosis that eventually led Rachel to end her wanted pregnancy. After struggles with infertility, IUI treatments, and a chemical pregnancy, Rachel finally got to hear this baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks.

But a later ultrasound scan showed bilateral club feet and led to more testing… 7 weeks of waiting for amniocentesis results… and then the phone call on her husband’s birthday that changed everything: KAT6B gene mutation. A condition so rare there are fewer than 150 cases in the world - and Rachel recognized it because she happened to have a patient with this exact gene.

As a pediatric genetic counselor, Rachel sees families going through these worst-case scenarios every single day. Going through it herself was something else entirely. Rachel's medical knowledge was both a blessing and a curse. It helped her know which tests to ask for, but it also meant she knew what could go awfully, awfully wrong.

If you're waiting for test results right now, if you work in healthcare and this is happening to you, if your body is telling you something's wrong even before the doctors say anything - Rachel's story will help you feel less alone. Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your baby’s story with us 💜

How common actually is TFMR? The hidden numbers might surprise (and comfort) you16 oct. 202500:13:17

The numbers around TFMR might surprise you and hopefully comfort you too. In this episode, Sabrina Fletcher (hi there, that's me, the TFMR Doula) shares an unofficial but conservative estimate: TFMR happens in approximately 1 in 55 pregnancies. 😲 Surprised? I was too.

And here's the thing: even that number is likely low when you factor in TFMR for maternal health, TFMR for mental health, and procedures performed at abortion clinics that never get counted as TFMR at all.

Why don't we hear about TFMR more if it's this common? So many factors, including needing to stay silent for fear of backlash, grieving parents having to hide behind terms like "pregnancy loss," the political landscape, incorrect tracking/earmarking, stigma, and more.

If you've ever felt alone in this experience, this episode is here to remind you: TFMR is happening far more than we think. You are NOT alone. You are one of many, and your grief is so very valid.

If your pregnancy loss space never mentions TFMR, it's not for 'all'13 oct. 202500:07:30

If you've ever searched for pregnancy loss support and felt invisible when TFMR isn't mentioned, this episode is for you. Sabrina Fletcher (that’s me, The TFMR Doula) gets real about what it means when baby loss spaces claim to be "for all" but never list termination for medical reasons alongside miscarriage and stillbirth. She shares practical suggestions for grief spaces that want to truly welcome TFMR families: from using the term explicitly in descriptions to moderating stigmatizing comments to highlighting our stories (even anonymously).

This isn't about calling any groups or specific people out. It's about calling them in.

Many broad loss spaces genuinely want to learn how to be better allies, especially during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. If you've been looking for language to help others understand why representation matters, or if you run a space yourself and want to support TFMR families better, this episode gives specific steps forward. Because TFMR *IS* pregnancy loss, and we deserve to be named.

"Do I belong here?" is the question that breaks my heart every time someone asks. If you're wondering whether your TFMR counts, whether your situation is "too different" to fit in our community, whether you'll be welcome here...this episode is for you.

The truth is, the world has already made you question your place in so many spaces. Not here. Here, you belong.

Whether your loss was for your health or your baby's health, whether it was a gray diagnosis or fatal, whether this was your first pregnancy or you have living children, whether you're fresh out or decades past. Worried about your baby suffering? Listen to this | TFMR grief support07 oct. 202500:10:02

“Will my baby suffer?" This question haunts so many of us through the TFMR baby loss process - whether we're facing the decision right now or wrestling with it months or years later. It's the question that keeps you up at 2am, the one that makes your chest tight, the one nobody else seems to understand why it matters so very deeply.

In this tender solo episode, I share how my daughter Clara came to me in a dream when I asked her this exact question. I talk about how we're STILL parenting our babies through the veil, how ending suffering was an act of protection, and how peace became possible when I was finally seen as the mother I am. If you're asking yourself "will they suffer" or "did they suffer," this episode is for you.

From HG TFMR shame to baby loss community: Emily's story (PART 2 of 2)02 oct. 202500:19:44

Are you struggling with shame about your TFMR? In Part 2 of 2, Emily Cross opens up about the years she spent lying about her hyperemesis gravidarum TFMR, telling people she miscarried instead of admitting she "chose" abortion.

When Emily's third pregnancy resulted in her son Marty, who lived four precious weeks before dying of SIDS, everything changed. Suddenly finding herself in baby loss communities, Emily realized something profound: she qualified. Her TFMR was ALSO real baby loss, deserving of the same grief and support as any other loss.

Emily shares how losing Marty gave her permission to finally grieve her first baby without shame, why there's no hierarchy in baby loss, and how finding her place in the baby loss community changed everything about how she saw her TFMR experience.

When pregnancy could kill you: Emily's termination for hyperemesis gravidarum story (PART 1 of 2)30 sept. 202500:20:15

Are you facing TFMR due to Hyperemesis gravidarum? Emily Cross shares her experience as a mom who survived two life-threatening HG pregnancies - one ending in TFMR, one resulting in a baby who lived four weeks before dying of SIDS. Listen in to hear how ALL our impossible decisions still make us GOOD mothers.

Emily's first pregnancy started magical (positive test in Paris on New Year's Eve) but quickly became a fight for survival when severe hyperemesis gravidarum left her unable to keep down even water. After losing 20% of her body weight, French doctors still told her "pregnancy isn't an illness" and forced a 7-day wait period. Her privilege allowed her to fly to England for immediate care - a choice that saved her life.

If you're googling "hyperemesis gravidarum TFMR" at 2am, this episode is your lighthouse. Emily shares the moment she knew she had to choose her own survival, what it really feels like when the pregnancy illness stops the second you become "unpregnant," and how she found her way from shame to community after years of not having words for her experience.

Why self-care isn't enough for TFMR baby loss grief (what you ACTUALLY need)24 sept. 202500:03:36

You're not broken if you’re doing all the “right” self-care things and something still feels like it’s missing after TFMR baby loss. If you're still feeling lonely despite all the bubble baths and journaling, there's nothing wrong with you. You're just needing the other half of healing: community care.

In this solo episode, I share why individual self-care can only take TFMR grief so far, and why community care - especially with other TFMR parents - changes everything.

When you're carrying thoughts and feelings that regular grief groups just don't understand, you need people who can remind you of your goodness, your motherhood, and that you're not losing your mind. We were never meant to grieve alone, and the healing happens faster, deeper, and more completely when we hold it together in community.

There’s still time to join our upcoming GRIEF CIRCLE (starting Sep. 24th! 7pm) if this is the community you’ve been looking for, waiting for. Here’s the link to apply to join us:

The questions that keep you up at night as a TFMR parent22 sept. 202500:13:32

You're not alone in holding impossible questions as a TFMR parent. If you’ve lost a baby to termination for medical reasons and ever found yourself yourself pacing your house asking "am I a monster?" or lying awake wondering "does anyone actually understand?" then this episode is for you.

In this episode, I share why these questions can't be answered in isolation and where to find the community that understands why you're asking them in the first place:

“Will my baby suffer?”
”Am I a monster?”
”How do I survive?”
”Does anyone understand?”

…the questions that haunt TFMR moms and dads.

Because the crux of TFMR grief isn't just losing your baby - it's carrying questions so profound that only other parents who've made this impossible choice can truly hold them with you.

Who joins Ascend TFMR Grief circles - parents like you18 sept. 202500:11:36

You might be wondering if you belong in a TFMR grief circle. Maybe you're questioning whether your story fits, whether your diagnosis was "severe enough," or whether you'll connect with other parents who made this impossible choice.

The truth is, if you're asking these questions, you probably do belong here.

The parents who join our TFMR grief circles share something profound - we're all mothers and fathers who chose to end suffering, even when the world doesn't understand that choice. You followed your heart and survival through the most impossible decision love has ever asked of you.

Beyond that sacred shared experience, the parents who thrive in our circles tend to be busy but appreciate structure, they are naturally resilient (even when you don't feel it), and deeply kind - both to others and, we hope, eventually to yourselves.

Whether you have living children or are trying to conceive again, whether your diagnosis was chromosomal or structural, for you or baby, whether you're weeks or years out from your loss - your story matters here. You matter here.

Finally a space where TFMR parents can say everything out loud | Circles open now15 sept. 202500:19:40

When TFMR parents find out about Ascend, they don't ask about the curriculum or the healing frameworks. They ask: "Will there be other people like me? Can I finally say everything out loud? Will someone understand when I talk about my baby?"

Other parents like you share what they're most looking forward to in our grief circle: They were about connection in this tough abortion baby loss, having permission to speak their baby's name without explaining themselves and being able to SHARE their TFMR stories without judgement.

YES back to school IS as hard as it feels after TFMR baby loss08 sept. 202500:19:26

If the back-to-school season has you feeling like you’re drowning, this episode is for you.

If September is hitting you like a freight train of grief, you're not imagining alone. Even if your baby's condition was fatal, even if you live somewhere without fall school starts - this season carries a weight that others can't see. The anger, the longing, the guilt over feeling joy while grieving the school years that will never come for THIS BABY…all of those feelings are valid, and all of it makes perfect sense.

There's a reason why back-to-school grief cuts so deep for TFMR families, and it has everything to do with a truth about love that death can't touch. When you understand what's really happening in your heart during these triggered moments, the pain doesn't disappear, but finally, FINALLY, it makes sense. Listen in to hear WHY back to school time IS as hard as it feels after termination baby loss.

Supporting Surviving Siblings after TFMR with Jessica Correnti25 août 202500:37:27

When you’re going through your own TFMR grief while trying to protect and support your living children, it can feel impossible to know what's "right." How much do you share? What's too much? What if you say the wrong thing?

Jessica Correnti, Certified Child Life Specialist, author and fellow baby loss mom, joins us to talk through the tender territory of supporting surviving siblings after TFMR. If you've been walking on eggshells around your kids, wondering how to honor their baby sibling while protecting their innocence, this conversation will give you both permission and practical tools.

In this episode, we explore:

  • The surprising ways children process grief (hint: it might look nothing like adult grief)

  • Why kids need repetition and play to work through loss

  • Age-appropriate ways to talk about the baby who died without overwhelming young minds

  • One gentle first step overwhelmed parents can take today to support their child's grief journey

  • What TFMR parents need to hear most when supporting living children through this loss

Jessica's wisdom will help you trust your instincts while giving your surviving children the space and support they need to process this profound loss in their own way.

Examination of repro care in the U.S.: Rebecca Little and Colleen Long talk about their book "I'm Sorry For My Loss"31 juil. 202500:47:19

Rebecca Little and Colleen Long join us to discuss their powerful book "I'm Sorry for My Loss: An Urgent Examination of Reproductive Care in America." Rebecca and Colleen are two lifelong friends and both journalists who've experienced devastating pregnancy losses. This book is an investigation into why reproductive care in America is so broken; their findings are both heartbreaking and essential.

Rebecca experienced six pregnancies: 2 uneventful pregnancies of her oldest living kids followed by chemical pregnancy, missed miscarriage at 8 weeks, stillbirth in 2014 and TFMR of twins at 23 weeks for a fatal heart condition, followed by a life-threatening uterine rupture that nearly killed her. Colleen lost her first baby to stillbirth in 2012 and has two living kids. Together, they've created the book they wish they'd had: one that doesn't just offer comfort, but also asks the hard questions:

Why are we so bad at grief?

Why is our language so limited?

Why aren't we even researching women's reproductive health?

This conversation goes deep into the impossible navigation of TFMR grief when neither "pro-choice" nor "pro-life" language fits your experience. We explore how “the myth of control over pregnancy” leaves families isolated when things go wrong, and why having language that fits your loss can be life-changing.
