Oklahoma is reeling into the bye week, and another night to think about the Georgia loss has only brought more questions.
Brandon Drumm and Travis Davidson work through what went wrong in Athens, why OU stuck with John Mateer and what Brandonâs sources said about the decision to leave Whitt Newbauer on the bench. They also examine the parts of Ben Arbuckleâs game plan that created opportunitiesâand why the offense still could not turn those opportunities into enough points.
The conversation goes beyond the quarterback. Running back vision, offensive confidence, the failed two-point attempt, changing lineups and a lack of continuity all come under the microscope. The guys discuss Brent Venablesâ role, the experience young players are gaining, recruiting reinforcements and the potential resources available to build the 2027 roster.
Then comes the question OU fans want answered: Can the Sooners salvage this season, and what has to happen during the bye week to give them a chance against Texas?

Oklahoma won. The offensive concerns got louder.
The Sooners escaped New Mexico 13â6, and Brandon Drumm and Travis Davidson have plenty to unpack before Georgia and the start of SEC play.
On this OUInsider Postgame Podcast, we examine John Mateerâs hesitation and confidence, Ben Arbuckleâs offensive identity, the role of tempo and the growing problems in the running game. How much could Michael Fasusiâs return change the offensive line? Should OU settle on two running backs? Could simpler reads and a more consistent downfield threat help?
We also discuss possible injury returns, the burden on the linebackers, PFF grades and why the defense continues to earn our confidence. David Stone, P.J. Adebawore, Peyton Bowen and Hayden Hanson get their due before we make our postgame MVP picks and close with a recruiting update.
