Bob is a true outdoor athlete, being a runner, mountain biker, skier, and rock climber just to name a few of his passions. Another passion is photography in where he is able to capture truly unique places. Bob shares his insights, what he's willing to do for a photo, and how his start with film made him a better photographer. He tries to not let gear get in the way, he rather just get the shot any which way he can, believing there is no true mic drop moment. Darren McNabb recently retired from his real estate business and is now an avid photographer shooting everything from local landscapes to epic adventures around the world. Darren explains why his love for his previous business was starting to fade and knew it was the right time to transition into retirement. Even after retiring, he stresses the importance of having a purpose in your life, having the opportunity to learn new skills and meet people. As Darren says, you need to get a reason out of bed in the morning. Darren knew that he always had an artistic side but had never accessed that part of him until he started taking photos on his travels. His decision to leave was based on not feeling fulfilled and wanting to step outside his comfort zone to produce work he was proud of. Kasumi Kobo's journey from moving to Toronto from Japan with her dreams of playing hockey derailed, opened another opportunity to run her own business. She explains how she convinced her father that dropping out of university was the right move, the importance of failing fast, and staying true to your intuition. Using her experience as a player herself gave her a unique connection to working with young girls in the hockey world. Kasumi's focus on developing relationships and making the players feel and look good in front of the camera is important to the final result. Not shying away from taking on bigger challenges, her connections provided an opportunity to work with the PWHL and build on her skills. It's not always about the camera however, she credits having different life experiences to draw inspiration from and grow as a person. The future looks bright for Kasumi, with a goal of one day shooting Team Japan. It's a fascinating conversation showing how you can use life's challenges to chart a new course to success. We take a look at using flash outside with some tips, tricks and techniques to get you started.  This how to guide will help strobists master outdoor flash photography. Unlike using off camera flash indoors,when outside you are restricted by the environment. It's important to look at the ambient light as one layer, and flash as an additional layer. So the best method is to get the ambient light just how you like, and then add in flash to personal taste.
