Sailing from Vanuatu to Australia: What It Taught Me About Risk, Money and Freedom08 Jun 202500:12:43

This episode wasn’t planned—but life rarely is. A single email this morning pulled me back to 2018, to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on a yacht I had no business being on.

With no sailing experience, not much swimming confidence, and a head full of doubts, I joined a 70-something New Zealander named Peter Mortimer on a voyage from Vanuatu to Australia. It changed me.

In this unscripted episode, I share what sailing taught me about fear, freedom, and the stories we tell ourselves about what’s "safe." I talk about:

  • Doing things before you're ready (because you're never really ready)
  • Letting go of the 9-to-5 blueprint and seeing new ways to live
  • How less stuff = more freedom
  • Money as a tool, not a finish line
  • Why control is often an illusion—and that’s okay

This journey helped shape the person I am today. I hope it gives you a nudge to take your own leap, even if you’re not sure where you’ll land.

You Don’t Need to Be an Expert to Start Investing01 Jun 202500:14:50

Ten years ago, investing felt like a secret language spoken only by men in suits. In this episode, I’m talking to the version of me that was too intimidated to even start—and to anyone else who thinks they’re not smart enough, too late, or not “finance-y” enough to invest.

This one’s especially for women who’ve been told money isn’t their thing. (Spoiler: it is.)

We’ll walk through:

  • Why you don’t need to know everything before starting
  • What to sort out before you begin (debt, emergency fund, etc.)
  • The easiest way to open an account and pick your first fund
  • Why consistency > intensity in investing
  • How to avoid common scams and get-rich-quick traps

And if you’ve ever wished someone would just talk you through it, I’ve opened a few free coaching spots. Totally informal. Just email me at onestepwealthier@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @onestepwealthier and we’ll chat.

You’ve got this—and I promise, your future self will thank you.

My Very First Steps Into Investing (and the Mistakes I Made)25 May 202500:19:16

In this episode, I take you all the way back to where my investing journey began. Spoiler: it wasn’t glamorous — it involved peer-to-peer lending platforms, random gold purchases, and a lot of confusion. I didn’t grow up around people who invested, and everything I know now was self-taught, often through trial and error.

I talk about:

  • How I started with gold, silver, and even platinum
  • The early mistakes that taught me the most (hello, P2P lending...)
  • Why I avoided the stock market at first — and what changed

If you're new to investing or still feeling unsure, this one’s especially for you. It’s not too late, you’re not behind, and you don’t need a six-figure salary to start building wealth. Just take one step.

I’m Not a Late Bloomer — I’m Right on Time18 May 202500:09:10

In this episode, I reflect on what it feels like when everyone around you seems to be checking off life milestones—weddings, babies, "proper" jobs—and you're walking a completely different path. My best friend is getting married soon, and it brought up a lot.

I talk about choosing freedom over expectations, solitude over convention, and how fulfillment can look very different from the traditional script. If you've ever felt behind, out of sync, or like you're blooming somewhere else, this one's for you.

Topics I Cover:

  • Choosing freedom, not following a timeline
  • Redefining what success means to you
  • Walking away from a traditional career path (and not regretting it)
  • The conversations that sting—but why they don’t define you

Listen in if you're:

  • Feeling like you’re “late” in life
  • Choosing an unconventional path
  • Craving a reminder that your version of life is valid

And remember: Maybe you're not a late bloomer. Maybe you're just blooming in a quieter field.

How Much Money I Make While I Sleep (And Why It Matters More Than You Think)11 May 202500:06:50

In this episode, I talk about something I find incredibly exciting—earning money while I sleep. Recently, I went on a two-week trip and realized that my investments quietly covered the whole thing. Food, hostels, beer, everything. That’s when it hit me: I could technically live off my “sleep money.”

I’ll walk you through what that means, why it’s not magic, and how building passive income—even slowly—can shift how you feel about freedom, work, and life itself.

This isn’t a brag. It’s an invitation.

Let’s talk about freedom, frugality, and building wealth one step at a time.

Lifestyle Deflation: Why Having Less Made Me Feel Richer04 May 202500:09:41

Last week, I talked about lifestyle inflation — the sneaky way our spending rises with our income. This week, I’m flipping that idea on its head with something I call lifestyle deflation.

In this episode, I share how simplifying my life, working a low-pressure job, and hiking solo through the muddy wilds of Scotland taught me to appreciate real freedom and wealth. From wet tents to canned beans in a bothy, I learned that needing less isn’t a downgrade — it’s an upgrade in disguise.

If you’ve ever felt stuck chasing “more,” this one’s for you.

30 Euros for Underwear?! My Tale of Lifestyle Inflation27 Apr 202500:06:28

Tune in to discover:

  • Simple strategies to recognize and control lifestyle inflation in your own life
  • Real-life examples that will make you laugh—and maybe cringe a little!

Whether you're new to managing your finances or have noticed your expenses steadily climbing, this episode is packed with relatable stories and practical advice to help you stay grounded financially.

When Everyone’s Talking About Gold…20 Apr 202500:08:27

In this episode, I share an honest observation that started in an airport queue—with a woman holding a printed chart of gold prices. From airport lounges to village bars, it seems like everyone suddenly has an opinion on gold.

Why does this happen? And what does it really mean when an asset like gold becomes the center of casual conversation?

I explore what it might signal when an investment is on everyone’s lips, the psychology behind herd behavior, and how it contrasts with my own quiet strategy of buying undervalued stocks.

This isn’t financial advice—it’s just one long walk through the noise, and what I’ve been learning as I listen to it all.

Why I’m Not a Financial Advisor (Yet)14 Apr 202500:09:30

In this episode, I share a very honest update about why I’ve decided not to pursue a traditional financial advisor role—for now. From studying for my diploma while working full-time, to realizing some roles don’t align with my values or lifestyle, it’s been a ride. I talk about the pressures, the pivot, and what’s next.

If you've ever doubted your path, or felt like the “right” career wasn’t quite right for you, this one’s for you.
