| How They Meditate – Sayadaw U Tejaniya | 06 sept. 2026 | 00:29:32 | |
This is part of our series How They Meditate, covering various meditation teachers and their styles. Visit https://OneMindDharma.com/howtheymeditate to see all episodes. Sayadaw U Tejaniya is a Burmese monk who studied with Shwe U Min. A householder until 36 years old, he focuses on a continual awareness throughout daily life. His style is very different from the first episode’s topic, Mahasi Sayadaw. Sayadaw U Tejaniya focuses on a gentle and continual effort, right attitude, and watching the mind rather than objects. This is the style in which I currently practice, and find his style of practice and sitting meditation to be very pragmatic. If his teaching style interests you, we have a weekly sitting group in this style that focuses on mindfulness throughout the day. | How They Meditate – Mahāsī Sayādaw (Guided Meditation) | 30 août 2026 | 00:22:24
This is part of our series How They Meditate, covering various meditation teachers and their styles. Visit https://OneMindDharma.com/howtheymeditate to see all episodes. Mahāsī Sayādaw is an important teacher in the modern insight meditation tradition. He deeply influenced how Buddhism and meditation are taught in the West, popularizing practices like noting/labeling, working the the breath in the abdomen, and making meditation accessible to laypeople. With students such as Sayadaw U Pandita, Munindra, Dipa Ma, Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, and Sharon Salzberg, many of the methods we use in insight meditation in the West ultimately come from Mahāsī Sayādaw. In this meditation, we will work with his teachings of noting, working with the breath at the abdomen, and investigating intention. There really is one resource for this style of meditation that stands above all. It is called the Manual of Insight (https://amzn.to/4x8fk0Q). It’s a dense book, but contains the full outline of his practice, methodology, and theory. For more resources on Mahasi Sayadaw, visit https://OneMindDharma.com/Mahasi. | 10 Minute Meditation – Calming the Body | 16 août 2026 | 00:10:00
Today we have a short (10 minute) meditation on calming the body. This is a form of body scan in which we move slowly through the body inviting in relaxation to each part. This can be a useful practice to help when we’re tense, to help fall asleep, or just to connect with the body.
