After helping to give Laboon a new reason to live, Crocus teaches the crew how to survive the basics of the Grand Line. They begin their journey into the Grand Line and face one peril after another until Nami starts to master the weather. Finally we reach the next island known as Whiskey Peak. A town known for welcoming pirates doubling as a secret base for bounty hunters and an organization known as Baroque Works. Unfortunately for them Zoro suspected something was wrong and prepares to fight the entire town of bounty hunters.

“It is too early. The hole is too big. Sadness washes over me when I think that I will never see him again. 

I have admired him so much since I was a child, so I remember the day he called me my name for the first time. On the way home from the day you used the word “friend” for me and Kishimoto (Naruto author), I remember being overjoyed with Kishimoto. I also remember the last conversation we had. 

I was one of those who took the baton from the days when reading manga made you a fool, and he also created an era when both adults and children could enjoy reading manga. He showed us the dream that manga can go worldwide. It was like watching a hero going forward. 

For not only mangakas but also creators in various industries, the excitement and emotion of the time of Dragon Ball serialization must have taken root in their childhood. His existence is like a big tree. 

For the manga artists of our generation who stood on the same stage, Toriyama’s works became more and more important to me as I got closer to the same stage. I even felt scared. But I am just happy to see the aloof man himself again. Because we love him on a blood level. 

With respect and gratitude for the creative world he has left behind. I pray for his soul to rest in peace. May heaven be the joyous world he envisioned.”

This week our Journey enters Loguetown. The town of beginnings and ends. The strawhats split up and have separate journeys, such as Luffy searching for the execution platform of Gold Roger, Zoro trying to buy new swords, and Usopp getting into a duel with a famous bounty hunter named Daddy the Father. All the while we are introduced to two new marines in Smoker and Tashigi. Smoker, a man with a devil fruit who witnessed Roger's execution, and Tashigi, a female swordsman who dreams of collecting all 21 great swords.

This week our journey follows Buggy the Clown and his nefarious crew as they get back together. Before that Buggy gets blasted from island to island after his fight with Luffy. He meets friends and foes until he finds a mysterious woman who is looking for Luffy. With her help he finds his ship and saves his crew from the Kumate (Bear Claw) tribe. 

Before their captain arrives, the Buggy pirates lay his limbs to rest, and begin fighting over who will be the next captain. Introducing the Richie Pirates. Unfortunately this new crews reign on the sea does not last long as they are defeated by the Kumate tribe. While being boiled alive the crew is saved by their former captain Buggy and everyone is reunited. Long Live the Buggy Pirates!

After rescuing the girls, she takes them to her home in Cocoyashi Village and begins raising her daughters until the Arlong Pirates show up and start demanding tributes be paid for people's survival. Sacrificing herself to save her daughters, Bellemere loses her life, and Nami joins the Arlong Pirates to buy back her village. In the present Arlong betrays Namis trust and has the Marines steal her treasure. Unable to hold back her tears, Nami finally asks for Luffy's help. Thus begins the Walk to Arlong Park.

This week our journey takes us through episodes 20-22 where we meet a plethora of characters. Ranging from the cool suave Sanji, to the maniacal and evil Don Krieg. After being attacked by Johnny the crew learns of the dangers that one faces on the ocean without someone who understands nutrition. Luckily Nami has the basics, but Luffy is now determined to find a cook. Lucky for him, Johnny and Yosaku know just the place. The Baratie! Now on our way there the crew has their first run in with the marines since defeating Axe Hand Morgan. This leads to damage and injuries to the Baratie and the head chef Zeff. Luffy must now work as a chore boy for a year or pay off the damages. During our time here Sanji helps a starving Pirate named Gin. An underling of Krieg. Grateful for his help Gin returns with Krieg and begs for help again. Sanji unable to turn a blind eye to a starving person feeds him, but is quickly betrayed as Krieg plans to take the Baratie for himself and his new conquests.

This week our journey has a guest. Introducing Kendra who goes along with us through One Piece: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack OVA and One Piece the Movie (aka Movie 1). In Ganzack we cheer one a little girl who stood on business and would throw hands to save her father. Luckily for her Luffy, Nami, and Zoro are here to help her and the island escape from the clutches of Crabman (honestly forgot his name and don't care to look it up).

We then journey over to the first One Piece movie where Luffy and friends try to find the treasure of the legendary pirate Woonan. Befriending another child along the way (though not as cool as Medaka). They have to face El Drago or El Doraggo? Who knows, but they must fight until they can be free from him, his cronies, and his devil fruit power.
