Question Time special: When Victor got it wrong (a debate)19 May 202401:28:02

Was Victor Meldrew completely faultless in life? Could he have executed things differently when going full throttle in his pursuit to fight against the crappy things faced in society?

My good mate, Dan 'the beefcake' Heath (nickname not verified) debated with me on as many Victor scenarios as we could think of.

An unplanned ramble (part 1 of 2)20 Aug 202301:02:05

Hello and welcome.

Pod regulars, Si and Dazza join me to quite simply, keep me company. It's just us talking. Mainly about comedy.

I hope it inspires....someone? It won't, but we had great fun.

One Foot Family Chat with James06 Jun 202000:19:36
As a special round-up to the end of series 2, I invite my first guest onto the show - where Victor has Alfred Meldrew for a brother, I have James as mine. We do however get on a little more!  James shares his thoughts on this great sitcom and what brought him closer to it. Plus a summary of his thoughts to 'Timeless Time'. Get in touch for a chinwag on all things One Foot in the Grave, it'd be a pleasure!  Email: onefootinthepodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @onefootinthepod Facebook: One Foot in the Podcast
Series 2 Episode 6 - Timeless Time30 May 202000:57:27

As series 2 draws to a close, we are treated to a minute by minute real-time look at Victor and Margaret's night-time shenanigans.

From hilarities and misdemeanours relating to the animal kingdom, mysterious packets of bisto in the bathroom cabinet, to a quite solemn and thought-provoking revelation into the Meldrew's backstory.

Thank you for downloading once again - Please consider rating and reviewing the show as it'll help many One Foot fans who have not yet discovered the only dedicated OFITG podcast.

Series 2 Episode 5 - Love and Death25 May 202001:09:00

Grumps of the universe and beyond - welcome to episode 5 of series 2 Love and Death.

Victor and Margaret venture away from Riverbank to visit old friends,   April and Vince Bluett in their boarding house down on the coast. Beware though, pest control maybe needed for this stay.

The mood is sour from the off, as Margaret is resentful of Victor for   the lack of romance in their lives. Victor, none the wiser, appears to be somewhat of a lady’s man during his holidays.

For the first time, we experience marital  fractions whereby  the Meldrews may not end up in the same bed together.  An innocent  misunderstanding? Or a devious and mischievous set-up.

Oh, and poor old Victor receives an unwanted gift, yet another beating and a trip to A&E.

Series 2 Episode 4 - Who Will Buy?17 May 202000:59:36

Ohhhh for God's sake, Victor! Please can you write a review for this podcast? It really does help other One Foot grumps discover this podcast! Thank you.

Welcome to episode 4. What's coming up? Just the usual:

-The Meldrew's dissecting Poirot

-Victor and Cuthbert - the ventriloquist act

-An awkward first encounter with new characters, Patrick and Pippa

-A heartfelt encounter with an elderly blind chap

-A pushy toy salesman

Thanks very much for downloading!

Series 2 Episode 3 - Dramatic Fever11 May 202001:08:48

Well bloody hell!

That was an unexpected break in the series from me. I cannot even blame Mrs. Warboys for that.

This episode is a little longer than usual. Probably as I had more to moan about, in good old-fashioned Victory way, but also some positive feedback to read-out from some fellow grumps.

Victor and Margaret delve into the land of creativity, whilst Margaret's mother comes to stay. Surely, accident free? Not if Victor has anything to do with it! The Meldrews are unexpectantly faced with the task of producing the catering for Desiree Gibson and Victor appears to be manning the BBC snooker switchboard!

Series 2 Episode 2 - We Have Put Her Living in the Tomb26 Apr 202000:34:31

Tortoise sitting? DIY decorating? Accidental ownership of a suicide note?

Another day-in-the-life of a Meldrew.

Welcome to series 2, episode 2 - We Have Put Her in the Living Tomb.

Byee!

Series 2 Episode 1 - In Luton Airport, No-One Can Hear You Scream19 Apr 202000:38:37

WHAT IN THE NAME OF BLOODY HELL??!!

Welcome to a new dawn in the Meldrew universe.

We pick-up where we left-off, with the Meldrews returninf from 2 weeks of Greek hell, only to find that 'home sweet home' is not a turn-of-phrase that sits comfortably in the moment.

What cock-ups could possibly ensue by way of hosting a simple party once settled?

Email: onefootinthepodcast@gmail.com or tweet @onefootinthepod to get in touch and to have a moan!

Series 1 Episode 6 - The Return of the Speckled Band12 Apr 202000:44:54

Oh I DO NOT BELIEVE IT! The final episode of series 1. Released on Easter Sunday, would you believe? Where anything but resurrection is sought in the Meldrew household.

Well, the series rounds up Victor shenanigans as ever. Unwanted hats that seem to travel by boomerang. Suspicous looking eggs, ownership of a 7ft python and having to lend a pair of shoes to a metre reader.

Yes, for one final time (this series), I talk through yet another bizarre and surreal day-in-the-life of the Meldrews.

Series 1 Episode 5 - The Eternal Quadrangle05 Apr 202000:35:55

Love rivals. Suspicious items found in coat pockets. Saucy art classes. Strangers in bed.

Another day in the life of dear old Victor and Margaret.

Contact onefootinthepodcast@gmail.com or tweet @onefootinthepod to get have involvement in the podcast!

Much sanity,

Vic

Series 1 Episode 4 - I'll Retire to Bedlam26 Mar 202000:26:01

Victor's journey into retirement madness is only just beginning it seems.

Confined to his shed thanks to somebody leeting loose a swarm of bees

Childminding some hyperactive children

Stuck in a opticians waiting room seamingly all day

A man dressed as a bee seen in his bathroom

Almost killed by a maniac in a hospital

It's all kicking off in the Meldrew household!

Enjoy!

Doreen Mantle - A eulogy and farewell09 Aug 202300:28:27

Doreen Mantle, aged 97, has sadly passed away as announced today by her agent.

Si, Darren and I pay tribute to one of the comedy greats in TV sitcom history.

We loved Mrs. Warboys, but she will live on in the One Foot in the Grave universe forever more.

Series 1 Episode 3 - The Valley of Fear15 Mar 202000:35:04
Welcome back! If you're struggling to self-isolate, consider listening to episode 3! Victor finds himself in more ridiculous shenanigans and nobody can put their finger (or nose) on what the bloody smell is by the sideboard!
Series 1 Episode 2 - The Big Sleep08 Mar 202000:26:19

*Quick disclaimer - the sound quality dips in and out in parts during some parts of the episode*

Welcome to episode 2, where Victor is showing how he is partial to being a bit of a hypochondriac, along with being accused of sexual assault as well as befriending a robin. It all happens for poor old Victor!

Series 1 Episode 1 - Alive and Buried01 Mar 202000:25:35

What in the name of bloody hell?!

Welcome to the first episode, of the first series of One Foot in the Podcast- I discuss and breakdown scene by scene with the occasional deviation to discuss the opening episode.

I had a blast, but I would appreciate feedback and perhaps a review!

Thanks a bloody much!

One Foot in the Podcast - A One Foot in the Grave tribute review thing - Trailor!21 Feb 202000:01:46

What in the name of bloody hell?? At long last, a One Foot in the Grave podcast in tribute of David Renwick's fine comedy creation.

Please take a couple of moments to listen to this trailor - full episodes will be released, reviewing each show and disecting it like Victor would with one of his stuffed teddy bears or a plate of fish and chips!

This classic British sitcom, full of dark humour, surreal moments, hilarious incidents and many heartfelt happenings deserves somebody out there to pay tribute by way of a podcast - at the very least!

Email onefootinthepodcast@gmail.com for any questions, queries, suggestions or if you'd like to feature on the show.

*New Listener Notice!*21 Feb 202000:01:23

This is for anyone who is stumbling across the podcast for the first time.

This little clips is to act as a deterrent to anyone who listens to the first couple of series of this podcast, who maybe put-off by the idea of listening to just me waffling on & the somewhat inconsistent audio quality. Which would result in your giving up hope.

It gets better! Because guests join-in, including some stars of the show and audio improves. So, please either bare with it or skil forward to Who's Listening.

Cheers!

A live pod opposite Victor's house03 Aug 202300:11:22
This has got to be a first, but I recorded and uploaded a podcast outside of Victor Meldrew's house. Just a short and sweet live transmission of my thoughts on the show whilst I holiday in the Poole area.
Fun & Games with Christchurch resident Jen! 10 Jul 202301:07:17
I'm podding with Jen, a resident in the Christchurch area. Which was the only excuse I needed to do some podding once again. We have a general One Foot natter, chucked in a quiz, a quick-fire round and a Desert Island Discs special.
A Creek David Renwick Special - Part 203 Jul 202300:53:00
Picking up where we left off with part 2 of the Renwick special.
A Creek David Renwick Special - Part 1 (**100th episode spectacular!**)27 Jun 202300:49:42
Hello! David Renwick makes his fourth appearance on the podcast (not that I'm counting), to talk about for the most part, Jonathan Creek. Jonathan Creek remains one of the, if not the greatest mystery drama comedy out there, in my opinion. It stands the test of time. Si and I throw several questions David's way (poor man) and the three of us had fun discussing this other masterpiece of David's. P.S Happy Birthday to Si!
One Creek in the Foot - The Scented Room 23 May 202301:16:01

Back with a sequel to the "one-off" Creek discussion from the other week.

One of our favourite Creek episodes just had to be aired in review form.

One Foot in the Grave and Counting - A review (Part 2)02 May 202300:38:03

Welcome back to part 2 (of 2), closing the final couple of chapters of David Renwick's 'One Foot in the Grave and Counting'.

Social experiment - if you are one of the probable few who reads the gubbins in this podcast upload, get in touch and let me know that you read this!

And then introduce yourself!

One Foot in the Grave and Counting - A review (Part 1)20 Apr 202301:19:54
I finally got round to reading David Renwick's 'One Foot in the Grave and Counting' novel released October 2021. I for one was grateful to have some new material to review, albeit there being some very familiar storylines, there was plenty to sink my teeth into given the subtleties in differences between the TV series and this book. Plus, some organic One Foot material! You know the drill - get in touch with me to talk One Foot. Do it. Now! Still not done it?
One Foot in the Creek - A natter with an old mate26 Mar 202301:05:22

Welcome!

This could be the dawn of a new era in One Foot in the Podcast land - in the respect that perhaps I'll be doing more of a diverse route into discussing some of Britain's finest TV shows? Or perhaps not. I've always wanted to go down the Jonathan Creek rabbit hole and particularly withmy old school mate, Si Marsh. He is very much the Creek to my Meldrew. He is a Creek fanatic and it was great fun topic jumping in the world of Creek, written by the genius David Renwick.

Director/Producer: Susie Belbin12 May 202400:58:55

One of the best conversations I've had on the podcast.

Susie Belbin was a producer/director for a whole host of shows, including:

One Foot in the Grave (S1-S5)

Jonathan Creek

Are you being Served?

Bread

Hi-de-Hi!

'Allo! 'Allo!

It Ain't Half Hot Mum

Only Fools and Horses (S4)

She also worked with Morecambe and Wise.

Her CV is impressive and her experience, knowledge and pioneering ways of directing was all to see.

A huge thank you to Susie for speaking to me and treating you fans of British comedy.

One Foot in the Rewatch - S2E6: Timeless Time with Ben Shaw05 Feb 202301:11:49

Ben Shaw was the first ever guest on the podcast and here he is, helping to close the rewatch series. The last of the episodes I had previously only ever reviewed alone.

One Foot in the Rewatch - S2E5: Love and Death with Sarah Gardom22 Jan 202301:13:16

A lovely little getaway at April and Vince's boarding house in Bournemouth, two pretty young ladies somewhat gazing over Victor and some monumental misunderstandings of the highest proportion, whip up a bit of a storm for the Meldrews on this not so relaxing holiday.

Sarah joins me this week as she helps to dissect this episode and explore the psyche of the main characters.

Rach (formally Miss. Penycate, now Mrs. Rowatt) and her dad, Tim, join me to discuss 'Who Will Buy'. This is a podcast first having two guests on at the same time to discuss a regular episode. It's also a first having a guest and their relative join the show!

Watch out for a proceeding episode of fun and games that follows.

One Foot in the Rewatch - S2E3: Dramatic Fever with Richard Latto15 Jan 202301:23:14

Hello!

This week, it's a bit of an alternative take on all things reviews. Richard and I do discuss Dramatic Fever, but it's not picked through like a fine-tooth comb like usual. This is a more informal and relaxed approach and often us going off topic!

You'll find Richard over at BBC Radio Sounds and on his ever-popular Stereo Underground slot.

One Foot in the Rewatch - S2E2: We Have Put Her Living In The Tomb with Graham Courage08 Jan 202301:30:06

Thank you for downloading - Graham joins me with the dissecting of this great second episode involving some animal tragedy, TCP and a decorative nightmare for the Meldrews.

One Foot in the Rewatch - S2E1: In Luton Airport No-One Can Hear You Scream with Dan Clay01 Jan 202301:19:11
Welcome back to this rewatch edition of the pod, where listeners get involved in discussing the episodes I previously recorded alone - and it's great to be discussing the series 2 opener with new guest, Dan Clay.Dan was fantastic and he even introduces a brand new feature to the pod - with the help of his daughter, Dotty!

The lovely Cathy Shipton, veteran of Casualty, but to us, will always be 'Mrs. Burridge', delighted in joining me for a podcast Christmas special to cover her experience in 'Who's Listening'.

It's Christmas! (If you are downloading this at the appropriate time of year)

My good friend, Ant, considers this his most favourite episode of them all and I had a lot of fun nerdgasming over this festive special.

Ant is responsible for the One Foot in the Podcast rendition of Eric Idle's 'One Foot in the Grave' as played on the organ.
