Vintage Treasures, NEW Ormonde Jayne, Opalescent Luxury, & a Dewy Rose 

Nicola found a treasure-trove of vintage fragrance jewellery to swoon over @alfiesantiques, and we talk about which of the pieces we most covet [Spolier: ALL of them!] plus we’re discussing the latest launch in the @ormondejayne Montabaco collection – a Sandalore-infused beauty Suzy went mad for; and which previous carnival-esque release Nicola fell in love with.

Then we’re in raptures over the Chinese New Year inspired scent from @boadiceathevictorious: Opal – a luxurious pure perfume that shimmers with pearlescence on a base of velvety darkness. Plus, there’s a brand new Med-Essence fragrance from @templespa – a dewy, sparkling rose we think listeners who love joyous, floral-arched garden-party scents will absolutely adore.

Where can we begin to list the accomplishments and describe the extraordinary life of our guest this week?

Jo Fairley is one of the UK's leading female entrepreneurs, became the UK’s youngest-ever magazine editor (at the age of 23!) has been slapped by Bette Davis and partied with rock stars, co-founded Green & Black’s Chocolate in 1991, launched @beautybibleofficial with Sarah Stacey in 1996, owned a bakery, still owns a wellness centre, has written about fragrance and beauty for just about every publication you can mention, Co-founded @theperfumesociety with Lorna McKay (for whom she remains editor of The Scented Letter magazine), tours the world as a motivational speaker for business entrepreneurs and has been a guest on the BBC’s legendary radio show, Desert Island Disks.

Step 1: ‘Find out where your sense of smell is today. Use the AbScent self-assessment form, here. You won’t know if you are improving if you don’t know where you’ve started.’

Step 2: Smell Train. There are full instructions for making your own Smell Training Kit, here. Or, if you prefer, you can purchase a pre-assembled Smell Training Kit.

Step 3: Take note of your experiences. AbScent provide a guide for keeping notes and a downloadable diary.

You can also now use the online Snif App – to ‘guide and instruct users so that each smell training session is consistent and productive.’

In celebration of National Fragrance Day we're publishing a documentary about Frederic Malle's Portrait of A Lady that Nicola made for her other podcast Outspoken Beauty. It is a true love letter to the fragrance and features Frederic Malle himself. Suzy heard this before she met Nicola.
