Patrick was born and raised in Ghana. After completing secondary school, he attended university in the former Soviet Union, studying electrical engineering at Donetsk National Technical University in the then Soviet republic of Ukraine.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and also completed a certification program to become a Russian language teacher.

Patrick resided in the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991, during the historic perestroika era, when President Mikhail Gorbachev introduced the reforms that ultimately led to the breakup of the Soviet Union. Patrick is a principal at UGI Energy Services, LLC, a diversified energy services firm in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, where he lives with his family. He previously worked as a senior electrical engineer at Caterpillar, Inc. in Lafayette, Indiana.

Patrick has written extensively on social, political, and energy policy topics. He is a Democracy and Development Fellow at the Ghana Center for Democratic Development, an Accra-based think-tank. Some of Patrick's energy policy articles have received attention worldwide.

Farraday, an experienced physician working in pulmonary and critical care medicine, combines her personal experiences in the ICU and experiences of military family members who served in WWII and Vietnam to create her intriguing and sensual literary debut. Faced with enforced medical leave due to health issues, Farraday ran out of reading material and began an outline of the story that would become KAIRN: Mates of the Alliance. After returning to duty in the ICU, she kept writing as a cathartic way of handling the stresses of medical care during a global pandemic.

 

“At the beginning of the first wave of the pandemic, when COVID was just making itself known, we were losing far too many patients -- despite using all the tools we had at our disposal,” recalls Farraday. “There was a building sense of frustration and burn out in the ICU, particularly among the nursing staff. This is largely a love letter to my co-workers who kept coming in to face nearly insurmountable problems -- day after day. I wanted to give all of us a happy ending, even if it was fictional. The more I wrote, the more the writing and characters took on a life of their own.”

Debra was born in Kew Gardens NY. She earned a BS in Occupational Therapy from USC, and MA in Behavioral Health from Chapman University, and a specialty certification in Autism from Thomas Jefferson. She lives in the Sonoran Desert with her husband and dog. She is proud of her children and step children and their families.

I have worked in myriad health care settings in my almost 40 years as an occupational therapist. I currently work in the public school setting which I greatly enjoy. I have had a private practice and I have been a supervisor. Working with individual students and writing where my heart is.

Working in the public schools in Tucson is very challenging. Each day, I set the intention to create a success experience for the students I work with and help them to build skill and academic participation from their strengths.

About M.K. Lever: M. K. Lever is a doctoral candidate at the University of Texas, researching NCAA rhetoric and policy, and working as a freelance sportswriter and sports consultant. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.A. in Organizational Communication. While at WKU, she was a Division 1 athlete running track and cross country and was a two-time Sun Belt Conference champion in track and field (indoor and outdoor).

Lever’s debut novel, Surviving the Second Tier, combines her personal experiences an athlete with her academic research to bring attention to issues such as corruption, censorship, exploitation, and abuse that affect the lives of the athletes within the college sports industry. Lever is an advocate for college athletes and resides in Austin, TX.
