Givesuite with Sean Littman
mardi 4 février 2025 • Durée 24:32
Sean Littman Founder/CEO GiveSuite.com: "...Everyone uses the term all in one. But GiveSuite literally is an all in one for small and medium sized organizations. You have your Crm, you have your donor management system, you have marketing tools, you have social media, scheduling tools, you have fundraising, crowdfunding everything all in one. So that way you can. You can just maximize your time and go out there and change the world, and the price is extremely nominal, because, as I said, our vertical was small medium organizations. ...All these other systems that were charging arm and a leg. I was just like this is stupid, like, you guys don't have the budgets for this stuff, and you don't have the technology for this stuff. Let's make something that's easy for you to use, and affordable and effective and welcome to GiveSuite."

Association of Philanthropic Counsel
jeudi 14 avril 2022 • Durée 17:33
Melissa Brown hangs with the SnapCast for a second conversation about the Association of Philanthropic Counsel, a membership association of consulting firms that advise philanthropic (nonprofit) organizations. Upholding a strict code of ethics, APC is committed to ensuring that nonprofit organizations of all sizes can engage experienced, qualified counsel by strengthening the abilities, growing the resources, and expanding the knowledge and networks of our members. Our key talking points include:
- Code of ethics even "stricter" than AFP's - which is one reason for the referral and references pieces. For example, we commit to continuously updating our professional knowledge. In fact, that knowledge-gain is a key reason people join APC.
- Membership survey this year showed extremely high commitment to DEIA as an organization and also across members in terms of how they work with clients, such as for board development, strategic planning, and other services, plus in their fee structures, etc.
- Discussions still underway but it looks like revised Values, Vision, and Mission will be very clear about the commitment we have to inclusion, diversity, equity and access within APC - as a membership association -- and in our firms. That commitment dates to the organization's founding in 1995. It will be much clearer, though, in our public-facing language.
- We try to live this commitment within the Association through how we seek vendors, our programming, including regular reading/discussion groups and who we invite as speakers, and in our firms based on how we work with clients, our hiring practices, etc. Within APC, we are also working on reviewing association fees and processes to be more accessible, too - stay tuned.
AFP's Study of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access
mardi 12 avril 2022 • Durée 21:25
Melissa Brown of Melissa Brown and Associates visits the SnapCast to talk about the work she did with the Association of Fundraising Professionals to produce the IDEA Report (Assessment of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access).
Key points include:
Collaborative study with NINE organizations participating including African Americans in Development Offices; AFP; CFRE, Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy; and more, with sponsorship from DonorPerfect.
Bad behavior is too common - 34% of study participants reported experiencing some type of bias in the prior year. Bias from co-workers is far more common than from constituents -- and both are vastly underreported at the workplace, with maybe half of the people who experienced bias saying they notified a supervisor or HR staff member. We asked about far more than race -- including age, religion, bias based on physical appearance (tattoos, size, hair style), and so on.
People leave jobs because of bias they have experienced. The NP sector is losing talent because in a high percentage of organizations people are either blind the realities, or possibly "just too nice" to admit this is a problem.
To address bias: NP leaders must be strong in their statements and actions to show no tolerance. Provide time and funding (for facilitation ) of discussions that are themselves inclusive. Have a team of diverse (whatever that means where you are) staff and volunteers to create written policies and procedures. The report has links to some examples. Then be sure that EVERY staff member (and volunteer) is empowered to recognize, name, and take action in the event of bias.
