155 - Street Says, Tell A Better Story For Lasting Impact27 juin 202300:18:03

Street Says - tell a better story and you will connect with your audiences more than ever!

Hi all! Today’s episode is a bit more abstract than usual, and based around this idea of competition (in this case, the game of S̶i̶m̶o̶n̶ Street Says), and how it relates to showing up as your business/brand and the interaction that you are creating with your audiences.

Are you creating a competitive environment and tricking your audience?

If so, the reality is that you are not going to make a lasting impact, because well, there is no authenticity and genuineness. My goal with this episode is to share the message of “start with story, NOT trickery”so that you can achieve community in a world of competition!

Yup, we’re delving more into all of that, so be sure to tune in to the full episode!

Street Says ;)

154 - From Idea to Impact W The Social Snippet's Kristina Bartold-Sorgota And Maria Tassi20 juin 202300:46:38

On today’s episode of the ‘no Boring Stories’ podcast, we are joined by the perfect pairing of Kristina Bartold-Sorgota and Maria Tassi, Co-Founders of 'The Social Snippet'!

Through their social media consultancy, Kristina and Maria are actively changing the narrative of social media from being about hardcore sales and likes & follows, to a means of building a trustworthy and positive online community.

However, the duo share their resistance towards solely labeling themselves as a SM consultancy, and make it clear that they don’t just do ‘social’, but work towards marketing people’s dreams; their focus is on idea to impact!

In our conversation, we delve into both Kristina and Maria’s separate journeys and how they met each other in the middle at the right time, and then the development of their passionate business partnership.

There is a brilliant chat based around shame and how this feeling can affect how we show up and present ourselves online. We also dig into the impact of sharing ‘the personal’ on your business socials with your audience, and the value in embracing vulnerability. And of course, much, much more!

It is an episode that I am certain will have you saying, “you’re kidding, you too?” And that is all thanks to Kristina and Maria for being so open with their thoughts and experiences!

153 - Are You Making Something For Them Or Are You Making Something From You? 13 juin 202300:17:00

Are you making something for them or are you making something from you? The difference might seem small, but it will change everything.

That’s what we’re getting into in today’s episode of the ‘no Boring Stories’ podcast!

It’s an ‘off the cuff’ chat with a message that I just have to get out - We get hung up on showing up because we are stressed about what THEY are going to think, so the question that I’m breaking down here is - “Am I making something for them or from me?"

I’ll be sharing my personal experience, as well as some great insight from Jon Acuff who believes that if your audience doesn’t like what you are putting out there, it isn’t for them. He trusts that those who need what you are sharing will receive it and it will ultimately help them, but what is important is that you wrote it because YOU needed to do so.

This episode is all about the significance of speaking from the heart and showing up as exactly who you are/who you’ve always been, because when you do both, that is what is going to create clarity and authenticity for your audience.

Tune in, my friends! It's a good one :)

152 - “How Can We Lead In The World If We Can’t Lead From Within?”: Unlocking Leadership & More W Jackie Serviss 06 juin 202300:50:34

We have a very special guest on the ‘no Boring Stories’ podcast today... My good friend Jackie Serviss [People Strategist and Recruitment Agency Founder] who is full of so much wisdom and insight! Every time we talk, there is this magic conversation, and today is certainly no different.

In our conversation, we unpack the depths of the soul, and I am confident that this episode will deeply resonate with you all.

We delve into the transformation of unraveling to peacefulness and Jackie answers the question behind whether or not this peacefulness is intentionally created in life or is simply there. Spoiler alert - it is both.

We also chat about what striving means and looks like to Jackie personally, and how her swimming past as a child instilled in her this need for approval from others, which she has carried with her throughout chapters of her life and career.

Furthermore, Jackie shares a bit about how she is accepting praise with an open heart and actually receiving it, rather than shutting it down and moving on to the next thing.

We dig into the difference between arrogance and confidence, society’s role in creating ingenuine stories and labels for ourselves, along with Jackie’s work in unlocking leadership within herself and others. And yup, much, much more!

If you would like to connect with the incredible Jackie Serviss and learn more about her work in helping people and their businesses, be sure to reach out via Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/jackieserviss/?hl=en] You can also check out her podcast called ‘The Jackie Serviss Show’

151 - Healing And Thriving: Coming To Terms With Our Story W Psychotherapist Carrie Cohen30 mai 202300:41:36

On today’s episode of the ‘no Boring Stories’ podcast, I am joined by the tremendously inspiring Carrie Cohen!

Carrie has been a practicing psychotherapist for over 20 years and is currently working online with both individuals and couples on their fertility journeys; she helps them to unravel the stress and trauma of it so that they can thrive!

In her work, Carrie indeed places a huge importance on people reaching a feeling of thriving, and this leads into a chat about marriage being “a healing vehicle to go through life.” When people are thriving [specifically as a couple], there is this opportunity to grow together and “utilize each other in healing ways, therapeutically”, as Carrie says so eloquently.

We go on to talk about how Carrie helps people [individually and as couples] to get down to the root of their story by asking certain questions, delicately pointing out discrepancies, and ultimately connecting with them on a human level so that they feel comfortable to open up emotionally.

Through sharing her personal experiences, Carrie gives us insight into how we can come to terms with our own story, get what we long for (and grow within that), as well as do the inner work to make our own choices.

Do you want to connect with Carrie and learn more about her world-changing work? Check out her Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/carriecohencoaching/] or LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/carriecohencoaching/].

Thank you, Carrie, for such a passionate conversation!

150 - Sparking The Conversation And Not Ending It For True Impact - Happy 150 Episodes!23 mai 202300:23:55

Today is episode 150 of the 'no Boring Stories' podcast and I present you with the following question - Are you putting the fire out or are you part of the spark that ignites it?

A specific idea is constantly running through my head, and since we have hit this 150 milestone mark, I thought it was the perfect time to reinforce it and remind both you and myself that I am here to start something, not to end it.

I truly believe that when we share a message, it is to start a conversation… A conversation that will spark a fire in someone else’s life!
So, in today’s episode, I want to make sure you are all absolutely clear on how to start a conversation instead of being a boring speaker or storyteller that ends the convo.

Tune in to the full episode and learn the 4 great tricks [Fresh Idea, Relatable Story, Create An Experience, Converse] to do just that and make a valuable impact on your audience.

When you spark a conversation and not end it, as well as allow your audience to be a part of it, you are creating this amazing trust. This will then inspire people to talk about and share your message beyond the room you are in.

You will make an IMPACT and you will be remembered!

Thanks all for sticking around for 150 episodes. Can't wait for what's to come!

-Alex

148 - If You Want A Strong Foundation With Your Story, Dig Before You Build!09 mai 202300:20:10

Word of advice: If you want to build something that lasts, you have to first dig for the foundation!

In today’s episode of the 'no Boring Stories' podcast, we’ll be talking all about your STORY becoming the foundation upon which you can build a strong and long-lasting business, brand and message.

In my experience, nothing creates a stronger foundation than doing the work, digging DEEP, and really clarifying your story. This is indeed the digging and exploring that comes before you build!

I’ll be sharing a little story and metaphor about how I discovered this or really remembered feeling the impact of digging a foundation, so be sure to tune in to the full episode.

A reminder that if you have a business idea, don’t move it forward with speed and anxiety; take your time, do some planning and create your foundation first, so that once the building starts, it is right.

147 - Getting Clear On The ‘What, Why and How’ For A Good Story And What IS StoryCoaching?02 mai 202300:28:25

What do you do? Why do you do it? And how does it work?

If you can answer all 3 questions above clearly, then you have a good story to tell and a great brand!

In today’s episode, I will be pulling back the curtain a little bit and helping you to see exactly what is behind my business, what is my business, what is my brand, and finally, what is the process I take people through in my story coaching. If you're wondering what the heck even is story coaching, I'll be sharing that too!

This is all in an effort to help you do the same thing for your business, brand and offerings; in other words, as I walk you through what I do, you will get a really clear picture of how you can do the same!

I am by no means proclaiming that what I do is perfect, BUT it is the messaging and idea behind it that I believe is near perfection.

This episode is a helpful guide so that you are not sitting here wondering not only how you are doing what you do, but what exactly you are doing, and more importantly, WHY you do it.

Are you confident you can answer the ‘what, why and how’ for your business and brand?

If you can’t, please reach out to me personally :) If you can, say it more often; use these 3 things all the time, but focus less on the how and more on the what and why. That's what your audience wants!

If you’re thinking of the ‘erotic 'Outlander' scene kind of way’, that is not the case :P Instead, the comment was intended to mean that their storytelling was attractive, engaging and made the audience want to lean in closer.

So, if you would like this in your storytelling or if you want to be an attractive communicator, then buckle up and get ready for Episode #146!

I’ll be telling a relevant and insightful story, along with sharing the clear problems that are preventing you from making storytelling sexy and then the three ideas you can focus on to be a sexy storyteller.

This episode is a reminder to drop the titles/roles and focus on your energy and emotions for a true and lasting impact on your audience!

Do you have a speaking gig coming up and don’t know what to say? I’m always here to help! Please connect with me by shooting me a DM, email or you can check out my website :)

145 - A Behind-The-Scenes Look At Creating Captivating Content; From Social Media To Sales Pages! 18 avr. 202300:21:33

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be piggybacking on the last episode of creating a great keynote speech, but going a little bit more behind the scenes. My focus will be helping you to create captivating content — from social media captions to sales pages — via implementing a basic yet impactful story-based process.

We’ll indeed be tweaking and working with the same structure I used in the last episode to make sure whatever you are sending out into the world is clear and captivating. That’s right, we’re bringing back the simple approach to creating content with ‘SOS’ - story, outline, spice. Specifically, I'll be taking you through the process of creating a sales page using SOS.

A reminder that when creating a clear sales page or clear copy, find the most important parts you want to say, and don’t get lost in all the details - trust me, your audience will thank you for this, be more engaged and yes, stick around! We’ll be diving much further into this, so be sure to tune in to the full episode... it’s a jam-packed one! :)

Have you put the SOS approach into practice with your own content creation?
I would love to hear about it!

144 - Creating A Captivating (& Perfectly Spiced) Speech With The SOS Approach11 avr. 202300:21:54

And we’re back! After a wild month of dealing with a lotttt of things, I am happy to be here and showing up for my audience at this very moment! :)

Today’s episode is all about making sure you have something quality to bring to the stage, even if your mood is not at its brightest. For those who have an upcoming opportunity to speak in front of an audience, clear & captivating content is key!

But, how do you know if you are bringing your audience something valuable no matter how you are feeling internally? Well, tune in, because I’ll be working to solve this question!

The focus here will be on the 'how-to' behind creating a great speech, specifically by using the SOS [story, outline, spice] approach, and what is possible when you actually put it into action.

Who’s ready for this, shall we say, 'spicy' episode? Listen, enjoy and please reach out if something resonates with you here :)

-Alex

143 - Bringing Out The Best In Your Teams With Workplace Strategist Lia Garvin04 avr. 202300:41:26

Today we have guest Lia Garvin - incredible author, podcast host, workplace strategist and disruptor of all things - on the 'no Boring Stories' podcast, and our conversation is filled with many gold nuggets for managers and team members alike!

When asked about her main work and how she is currently showing up in the world, Lia says she has a bunch of different balls in the air. Specifically, she focuses on partnering with business owners/founders on bringing out the best in their teams, along with mapping out how the team operations take shape so that they can grow and scale their teams. Lia helps people with the ‘how’, so that they can focus on ‘what’ they are doing, but in our chat, we also talk about the WHY.

Management is typically a boring subject, but in today’s episode, Lia shares why that is, and then how she is using storytelling to show up and help individuals navigate that in a way that is not boring. This involves recognizing the misconceived beliefs around being a manager, as well as identifying where people are getting stuck and leaning into simple strategies/tools.

Lia also shares words about the short vs. long term thinking in investing in your team, and the common issue of work burnout. We then do a little rewind, and discuss Lia’s past journey and the work experiences that have instilled in her this notion of 'Management made simple', along with a moment of discovery that sparked her personal ‘why’. To end things off, we narrow in on the dichotomy - as Lia so perfectly calls it - between disruption and destruction in team culture.

Connect with Lia by checking out her brilliant podcast 'Managing Made Simple', Instagram [@lia.garvin], and website [https://www.liagarvin.com/] where you can find out more about her work and offered programs.

Thank you for sharing your valuable perspective and wisdom with us, Lia!

142 - ‘Eliminating The Overwhelm’ With Social Media Strategist Katie Brinkley 28 mars 202300:40:36

What’s up, everyone? I’m super excited to have my new & fast friend Katie Brinkley join us on the podcast today to discuss all about the notion of ‘less is more’, specifically in our social media strategies!

Katie is a fantastic social media strategist [with 19+ years of experience], past radio journalist, and a true natural in her field! She holds a unique power in helping her clients build strategy to captivate the appropriate followers and generate consistent inbound leads, in as little as an hour a week. In other words, she helps individuals show up on social media with their business, but where they can post less, and really place the focus on building their business. Sounds good, right?

Our conversation begins with a dinner party/potluck analogy, and this idea of bringing value [aka your best dish/drink] when showing up, which then fuels a chat behind strategy, self-awareness and business growth. Katie goes on to discuss the hand-in-hand relationship between storytelling and social media, and the juicy stuff of how to “eliminate the overwhelm” and find clarity in your SM strategies, diving a bit into her radio journalism history.

Katie practices what she preaches, and the strategies that she teaches her clients are the strategies that she has used to accelerate her own business. She is confident in her uniqueness, and believes that if you show up with the right intention on social media every time, then you will form those genuine and meaningful connections with your followers.

It’s such a great episode and conversation, and I can’t wait for you all to tune in!

To find out more about Katie Brinkley and her work, you can follow her on Instagram - @iamkatiebrinkley | Be sure to also check out her Facebook page ‘Social Profit Lab 2023’ to stay up-to-date on her Social Profit Lab Summit Events (hopefully one coming this fall!)

Thank you, Katie! :)

140 - You Are The Hero Of Your Own Story!21 mars 202300:15:42

Repeat after me, “I am the hero of my own story”! Say it loud & say it proud, my friends!

Today’s episode is for those of you who want to show up not arrogantly, but CONFIDENTLY as the main character of your story.

Your audience being the hero is indeed a fantastic story technique, but it is first important to know that YOU are a hero and how you can share that heroic story with others. If you can’t believe in your own significant role, then your audience is not going to believe it either - simple as that.

I’ll be sharing my personal story about finding my hero moment and making the decision of choosing one path over the other; a moment where a spark grew into a flame over the years!

So, if you want to captivate an audience with your own values & vision AND be your own character, tune in to episode #140!

P.S. Can you believe we're at episode #140? Thanks for all the support, everyone, and hope you'll continue along the journey with me :)

139 - Using Artificial Intelligence As A Tool to Elevate Your Storytelling!16 mars 202300:23:42

"Hey ChatGPT, tell a story about how I started out as a business coach…"

We are putting Artificial Intelligence to the test in today’s episode, and how it can indeed work for you in your storytelling!

Last episode was an introduction to this idea of artificial content specifically being created by AI, whether it is good or bad, which ultimately led to the fact that it creates distrust amongst your audience.

Although telling YOUR story is the best way to stand out authentically in this world, we must realize that Artificial Intelligence is a thing, and it is definitely growing and becoming more powerful each and every day. So, what if we could actually leverage AI to elevate our storytelling?

That’s exactly what I am here to help you with today, and will be doing so by reading off a story that ChatGPT created for me (wild stuff!), and then sharing three great ways (1. Ask it for a story, 2. Practice using structure & fill in the blanks, 3. Tell THEIR story) you can use AI to give your story a boost!

In other words, don’t be fearful of AI, play around with it, and use it as a tool to become a better storyteller. BUT don’t let it replace you either! :)

138 - Robots And Storytelling: If It Is Artificial, Then It is Inauthentic! 14 mars 202300:13:29

Let’s talk robots… yes, you heard that right!

Specifically, robots creating your stories.

In today’s episode, we will be focusing on the question of ‘is artificial intelligence going to create artificial influencers?’

Part of my effort in my role as storytelling coach is to help you tell your story as simply as possible. However, storytelling is definitely a timeless and TIMELY process, so getting to that point does require time. But, what if you could skip the time process altogether, and get a robot to create a captivating story for you?

If you are excited about the idea, then go ahead and simply get your story out there - what are you waiting for?

My goal is not to bash AI here (in fact, next episode I'll be talking about how it can actually work for you!), but I do want to help you recognize that whatever the story may be, it is always going to be artificial. And if it is artificial, then it is inauthentic! In other words, the more authentic that you can be, the more you will stand out in this world and make a lasting & genuine impact on your audience.

Your story is first for YOU, so this episode is a reminder to focus on and embrace your authenticity. If you are looking to make a quick buck, then use robots, learn the AI and write your stories with that, BUT if you here to actually understand your story, then stay tuned, my friends!

Your true story is good enough, it is worth sharing, and it does matter, so forget the robots as of right now! ;)

137 - 3 Helpful Tricks To Being A Stand-Out Speaker!09 mars 202300:35:11

Hi all, we’re getting back into the chat about being a Speaker in today’s episode!

Specifically, I’ll be sharing 3 tricks to help you be a stand-out speaker and ultimately make an impact, because that’s what we’re all here for after all!

One involves Preparation (a little structure allows for the spirit to move!), two is about Engagement (it's all about asking Qs & involving your audience!), and three is focused on Rhythm (eloquence of words + a story arc both go a long way!)

And, remember, when you merge the formats of the Teacher and the Performer, it is my personal belief that you are going to show up as the best form of speaker out there!

Have you used any of these tricks in your public speaking?

Let’s chat! My DMs are always open :)

136 - Are You A Teacher, Performer, Or A Speaker? What's The Difference?07 mars 202300:20:11

When you take the stage with a mic in your hand, and speak to an audience, which one are you - a Teacher, a Performer or a Speaker? Or are you simply a Talker?

My biggest passion is in public speaking, and to me, taking the stage & sharing your message with others, is an essential practice for business owners who want to be a speaker. So, if you are currently speaking or it is an aspiring dream to be a speaker, this week’s episodes are for you!

In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing stories about the experiences I have had with each different type of communicator (Teacher, Performer, Speaker, and yes, the sub-category of Talker), and hopefully this will give you a better idea of what they all look like, and help you show up as the stand-out speaker I know you can be!

A little sneak peek - If you merge both Teacher (sharing what you know) & Performer (sharing what you feel), that is what is going to make you the ultimate Speaker and truly captivate your audience! I believe that speakers share what they feel about what they know! BUT, be sure to get the full scoop by tuning in :)

Happy listening!

All of what I do (podcast, social media, etc.) is supplementing my one-on-one story coaching, and take it from me, if you can choose to stay in your lane/focus on one offer, you will experience much more growth, and ultimately have a greater impact on your audience.

In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing a bit about my own personal experience in regards to staying in one’s lane, plus 4 things (Destination, Motivation, Patience & Focus) to help you get a clear grasp on what you can do to KNOW that you are in the right lane, and then stay there.

Another episode in the books that I hope you will all enjoy! Please tell me your thoughts, review, rate, &/ share - I appreciate the feedback!

134 - Resist The Temptation Of Changing Ideas And Stay In Your Lane!28 févr. 202300:15:30

Word of friendly advice - stay in your lane!

What’s up, storytellers? In today’s episode, I’ll be chatting about the importance of staying in your lane in your business through recounting my family’s nightmarish road trip traffic experience.

That’s right, it is a story detailing what it meant for me to see the value or lack of value in changing lanes ‘aka ideas’ and the anxiety it caused in my life. We sometimes feel pressured or outwardly influenced by other people to change ideas, but remember, the key is in making a clear choice of where you are going/how you are going to show up/what your message is, and sticking with it long enough to know if it actually works.

In the next episode, I’ll be helping you to understand how you can know you are in the right lane, how long to stay in it, and what ideas are worth making any shifts.

And, guess what? We are almost at 150 episodes! Thank you so much for tuning in every week, and please keep following along with the ‘no Boring Stories’ journey, because there is so much more to come! Also, I encourage you to share with others, so that they too can experience transformation! :)

133 - The 3 Ways To Help You Focus On Story Transformation23 févr. 202300:18:40

Repeat after me, "If you don’t have transformation, you don’t have a story!"

It’s a juicy episode today as we continue the conversation about transformation AKA the foundation, baseline & expectation of storytelling!

Once you clarify WHAT your transformation is, that is when you will set yourself apart & truly connect with your audience. Whether you want to focus on transformation in your writing/speaking/business plan/all of the above, I will be sharing 3 ways (‘I used to think’, ‘I went from’, & ‘I am, but’) to help you do exactly that!

We often have this elevated sense of what storytelling is, and well, it can feel overwhelming, but that’s where I come in to help you simplify!
Please feel free to reach out if you are interested in connecting, hopping on a coaching call, and working through your transformation story together :)

132 - If You Don’t Have A Transformation, You Don’t Have A Story; Disney Knows! ;) 21 févr. 202300:14:39

Let’s talk about transformation, shall we? After all, it is THE most significant piece of storytelling; the foundation & ultimate base!

In today’s episode, we will be focusing on what transformation both sounds and looks like ‘ out in the wild’, Disney being our prime example!

For those who have watched a film by Disney or visited their theme parks, you will have experienced their emotive & stand-out storytelling. Specifically, they do a fantastic job at telling a story through their rides as you go in with this sense of foreboding, and then, by the end, you feel joy & magic. THIS is the transformation that Disney has mastered (danger to joy/fear to fun), and we feel as if we are a part of something happening! Take note, everyone!

A reminder that if you are not helping people feel something different, then you are not telling a story. Transformation is about change, and we WANT to change people’s feelings through storytelling.

Be sure to listen in as we’ll be unpacking all of the good stuff on yes, say it with me, TRANSFORMATION!

As always, stay tuned for more :)

131 - Answers to the Two Most Important Questions16 févr. 202300:11:30

In our last episode, we brought up two of the most important questions you can ask yourself:

• Who are you?
• What are you talking about?

Today, we are going to look into how to answer those questions so you can not only respond with confidence, but speak to them with clarity.

When most people hear these questions, we immediately jump to labels, like 'friend', 'partner', 'hard-worker' ... but what if we went deeper to find the answer?

By peeling back the layers of our story, and seeing all aspects that really make up who we are, we start to see not only a label, but also what we stand for, and who we are at the core.

Take some time to listen to this episode and reflect on your story, what you stand for and what you value. Ask yourself these two important questions, and see how some reflection changes the answer.

130 - The Two Most Important Questions to Ask14 févr. 202300:09:30

Who are you? What are you doing here?

You may have heard these, you may have asked these, and maybe even someone asked YOU these questions. Frankly, these are two of the most important questions to ask in life.

Today on the podcast, we focus on these questions and how they can affect our outlook on everything. I shed some light on a recent client call I had, and how these same questions caused fear and challenge (maybe you can agree with those feelings?), which is OK!

This no-notes episode sets us up for next time when we look deeper into the answers to these questions. How we can turn these challenges into invitations and curiosities? How we can go from fear of answering to actively asking these questions daily, reminding us of not only what our identity is, but also what our purpose is, and how your story is growing?

Try asking yourself these questions now, what answers do they bring?

Keep these ideas in the forefront, until we are able to dive deeper next week when searching for the answers together!

129 - Your, Their & Our: The 3 Different Types Of Stories You Should Be Sharing As A Business Owner Right Now! 09 févr. 202300:14:19

Comin’ atcha with another great episode today as we’ll be diving into the 3 different types of stories you should be sharing as a business owner right now!

Let me tell you, if you can get a solid grasp on ALL three stories, you will know exactly HOW you are showing up in any given situation. Oftentimes we tell the same story again and again, no matter where we are, and it is not resonating with our audience because we have yet to master which story to tell at a particular moment. But, that’s where I come in to help! :)

Here’s a little sneak peek into the 3 different types of stories you should be telling in your business:

  1. YOUR Story - Taking off your armour and showing exactly who you are & why you’re here!

  2. THEIR Story - Turning your story TOWARDS the audience to help them.

  3. OUR Story - All about the notion of “we exist because of this”.

Be sure to tune in and find out more about these story types & how you can be an expert in all 3 of them, as well as have more clarity, and much less confusion in your storytelling!

Have you used any (or all) of these 3 different types of stories in your business?

128 - Storytelling Is Self-Awareness; When You Know Your Story, You Know Yourself!07 févr. 202300:15:19

Did You Know that there are 3 different ways people respond to the question, “Can you tell me a story about that?” In today’s episode we’ll be talking about all three, but there is indeed only ONE that will truly allow you to show up authentically in your storytelling.

The above question not only relates to job interviews, but for my entrepreneur friends who are kick-starting their own businesses, podcasts, or are taking the stage for an interview. All are big deals, but it is important to remember that your story is first YOU, and the more that you know this, the more that you are going to show up and genuinely connect and build trust with your audience!

Tune in to today’s episode to find out more about how self-awareness is key in telling a captivating and complete story, and then of course what you should be avoiding in storytelling.

It’s a good one, my friends! Hope you enjoy it!

127 - ‘Becoming A Good Storyteller Is An Entrepreneur’s Moral Obligation’, A Conversation W Chris Harder 31 janv. 202300:35:51

What an honour it is to have my friend & mentor Chris Harder on the ‘No Boring Stories’ Podcast today! It is a jam-packed episode as we talk about all things storytelling in the entrepreneurship realm, Chris’ significant life experiences that have led him to where he is today, and yes, how he is using storytelling right now :)

Chris is an entrepreneur, philanthropist & business strategist, + a tremendous giver at heart. He starts off our conversation with the notion that you sometimes have to be able to borrow other people’s belief in you, before YOU believe in you, as well as needing people to remind us of our backstory (i.e. where we won/demonstrated our talents) when we start to see it through a negative lens or it is forgotten.

Chris goes on to discuss an early moment in his life where a single individual reminded him of who he was, and ultimately set his career on its path to where it is currently! This instilled in him the importance of being unafraid to speak life into somebody as it can create a tremendous 'snowball effect' in that person’s life. Not only that, but seeking out the individual who has made a difference in your life, and telling them the outcome!

Not all of Chris’ moments are happy ones, though he shares that sometimes it is something that happens to you in a negative way that is ALSO one of the best parts of your story. On this topic of storytelling, he chats about how it is an entrepreneur’s moral obligation to become a good storyteller/tell their story well, and that even if you have a good message/product, your STORY is what is going to stop people in their tracks, spark their interest, and evoke emotion.

Chris is currently working on his life’s legacy project - a peer-to-peer lending app that pairs people who are in a financial jam with people that have the means to help get them out, and then slowly get paid back. This idea came from a real life scenario, and he has worked to package it into a genuine and impactful story, enrolling others into his vision, including his tech team partnership. He says, “If I wasn’t able to convey this story, it wouldn’t have happened.”

You can check out Chris’ podcast 'The Chris Harder Show', connect with him via Instagram @chriswharder, as well as join his free text list in which he sends positive money mantras and business perspectives [Text DAILY to 310-421-0416]. It is a fantastic way to start your day, and as Chris says, “put on the right set of lenses before your feet hit the ground!”

Another fantastic episode for you all - thank you, Chris!

126 - From Unseen To Unapologetic W Deja Criston 24 janv. 202300:39:15

Hi all! We are joined by the wonderfully energetic & open-minded Deja Criston on the podcast today, and it’s a great one! We talk through her big (yet passionate) abstract ideas, dig deeper into what her story is + the impact she wants to make, and ultimately find greater clarity together.

Deja is the host of the ‘Learn It From Me’ podcast in which she focuses on strengthening your faith and relationships (w others & yourself). She hopes that by leaning into her vulnerable side and sharing what she has experienced in her own life, plus the lessons she has learned, will make a genuine impact on others who are currently experiencing similar situations.

We unpack Deja’s strong belief in living unapologetically, which leads into a story about a specific moment and person in Deja’s life, the latter being someone who helped her come out of her shell and feel seen. It’s a turning point in our conversation, and definitely the spark of a transformation arc! :)

When we bring up the topic of lack of clarity in storytelling, Deja reveals that it is in ‘who’ exactly she is speaking to where there’s a bit of uncertainty. We delve into this and chat about your audience being anyone who resonates with you, connects with your energy/message, and is asking for your help.

Thank you so much Deja for being so candid and willing to share not only your story, but the problems that you are facing with your story right now!

Be sure to check out both Deja's ‘Learn It From Me’ podcast & Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/dejacriston/?hl=en], and follow along her journey!

125 - From Performance to Permission w Christina Glickman17 janv. 202300:32:09

Thrilled to have Christina Glickman join us on the podcast, where we dive right away into the question “How much intention does it take to be who you are?”

Christina is a mother, TEDx speaker, podcast host and author of the book Xtra: The Art of Being. Her powerful message on mindset inspires people who are looking for permission to try, to intentionally show up as themselves and live the way they want. She believes in the power to look, dress and feel exactly how you are meant to be and confidently!

In today’s episode we discuss her time in hustle culture, finding self worth in labels and uncertain outcomes, to ultimately uncovering peace and clarity! With a strong belief in human connection and how storytelling is the greatest path to do that, while preparing from her TEDx talk, Christina found the ability to share that process with others rewarding as they became invested in her journey. After that experience she realized “The ‘energy to chase’ is my best self.” and where growth happens when you give yourself permission to try!

We also chat about sharing your story vs using it, and how you don’t have to engineer or manufacture something if it’s yours! Just showing up to every conversation with the worth of knowing your story is enough, and releasing yourself from people pleasing and the outcome!

So many amazing nuggets from this one and I appreciate Christina taking the time to join us!

124 - From Fitting In To Leading w Matthew Allyn10 janv. 202300:45:36

Very excited to have Matthew Allyn joining us on the podcast today, our very first guest of the new year! His energy & genuineness are infectious!

Matthew is a spirited  leadership business coach who specifically assists online coaches develop their four figure offer, and in a way that allows them to step into their power as leaders. He has plenty of explosive moments to his story already, and they all have led him to who/where he is right now! Matthew very much believes in the value of living life fully, pursuing what piques one’s curiosity, along with emotionally connecting with his clients and asking the deeper questions.

In today’s episode, we’ll be narrowing in on Matthew’s story & transformation, what he is doing & how he got here, and of course the nitty-gritty of how he is currently using storytelling in his work to help grow his business/impact clients. Matthew shares a little bit about his early years of life and simply wanting to fit in, his path from business - civil engineering  personal training - photography, and then the big moment of “I’m going to take a stand & make a choice for myself” (aka biking across America at age 26) that ultimately shifted him to get to where he is today!

After returning home from his 90 day trip (5,019 miles later!), and experiencing joy in EVERY single one of those days, Matthew decided he needed to “get out” & break away from the ‘work for the weekend’ mentality. Through his journey of testing out different ways to use his skills and then finally stepping into his power as a leader, Matthew has built a business where he wakes up and loves every day like those 90 days, riding free, and encouraging others to be leaders of THEIR own lives!

If you want to connect with Matthew/learn more about his business, be sure to give him a follow on Instagram - @matthew.allyn

He also has a great podcast called ‘Powerful Online Leadership’ that you must check out :)

Thanks for hopping on the ‘No Boring Stories’ podcast, Matthew!

123 - To Close The Story Loop Is To Be Clear On Your Transformation!05 janv. 202300:12:23

Make sure to close the story loop, would ya?

Last episode I shared a story of when I opened the story loop and didn’t close it, leading to a confused audience, along with an example of a loop left open in one of my favourite shows 'Lost', its fan base experiencing a similar feeling.

When we are opening the story loops, but not closing them, it leaves our audience feeling confused rather than complete. Ultimately this will deter people from buying whatever you’re putting out there, and well, they will go somewhere else!

In today’s episode, I’ll be talking about the significance of telling the full story and being clear on your transformation so that you are able to close that dang story loop in your content :) It is a much easier concept than you may think, and I am here to help!

Feel free to reach out and let me know what you think about today’s episode - I love to hear your feedback always!

Stay tuned…
