Friday the 13th Part 3 is the third F13 movie to be featured on our podcast but it’s the first 3D flick we’ve ever set our sights on. Prepare yourself for some eye-popping descriptions of, well, eyes popping, among many other protruding parts. Is the extra dimension a cheap gimmick, a mad stroke of genius, or the true inspiration for Avatar? Furthermore, as is tradition, we go kill-by-kill reliving and ranking our favorite deaths from the movie—machete or otherwise. I’m sure you remember Fast Times for Spicoli, the pool scene, or Damone’s terrible rules of seduction … but there’s way more to it than that. It’s a coming of age story that genuinely cares about the emotional journey Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character is on. There’s no shaming or stigmatizing the ladies in this movie for being curious about sex. God forbid. And how refreshing it is to go back 40 years and find a teen movie that feels ahead of its time. Kick back, pop a brewski or twoski, and chomp down on all the tasty waves Ridgemont High has to offer.
