Kevin, Guy, and Pauline hosted a celebratory call-in show. We provided a history of the show and then hosted a wide-ranging conversation with several callers.

Kevin and Guy were joined by Dr. Andrew Christ, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Vermont who has conducted considerable field research in Antarctica. We discussed Dr. Christ’s research on the cryosphere, including his work related to Antarctica and Greenland.

Kevin and Guy were joined by Dr. Jamey Hecht, Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Psychology. We discussed Hecht’s personal path leading to his ongoing efforts, which are focused on mental health.

Kevin and Guy were again joined by Jim Massa, a science educator with broad experience in teaching students of various ages. We discussed Massa’s ongoing efforts to teach the masses about climate change, oceanography, paleontology, and other matters of environmental importance. Kevin, Guy, and Pauline Schneider were joined by long-time educator Mimi Riley, Sociology Instructor at Butte College in Chico, California. Mimi was among the first faculty members to embrace Guy’s evidence-rich conclusion regarding near-term human extinction. We discussed the purpose and strategies of contemporary educators. 

Kevin and Guy were joined by Stanford University’s Bing Professor of Population Studies, Dr. Paul Ehrlich. Renowned for his work as a conservation biologist, Dr. Ehrlich brought his wisdom to bear on his latest peer-reviewed paper, “Underestimating the Challenges of Avoiding a Ghastly Future,” which was published 13 January 2021 in Frontiers in Conservation Science.

Kevin and Guy were again joined by Dr. Andrew Glikson, Visiting Fellow at Australian National University. Professor Glikson is a renowned geologist who has written widely about previous mass extinction events on Earth. After a 15-minute, pre-recorded segment with Dr. Ye Tao of Harvard’s Rowland Institute, Guy McPherson and guest host Pauline Schneider were joined by Ken Avidor, renowned graphic artist. We discussed Avidor’s ongoing work as a social critic.

Regular cohosts Kevin Hester and Guy McPherson were joined by the voice of Pauline Schneider as she read replies to questions from climate-change expert Sam Carana. We discussed Carana's recent and ongoing work as a voice of synthesis on the topic of abrupt, irreversible climate change. 

Guy McPherson and guest host Pauline Schneider were joined by Dr. Morris Berman, renowned educator who has taught at several universities in Europe and North America. We discussed Berman’s ongoing work as an innovative cultural historian and social critic.

Today we are delighted to have Paul Gunter on the show. Paul Gunter is a co-founder of the Clamshell Alliance anti-nuclear group. He has been arrested at Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant for non-violent civil disobedience on several occasions. An energy policy analyst and activist, he has been a vocal critic of nuclear power for more than 30 years. Gunter worked as the Director of the Reactor Watchdog Project for Nuclear Information and Resource Service for almost 20 years. In 2007, Gunter joined Beyond Nuclear as their nuclear reactor specialist.

Kevin and Guy were joined by George Taskraklides. We discussed George’s recent work at taskraklides.com, including the collapse of industrial civilization.

Kevin and Guy were joined by renowned biologist Paul Ehrlich, Bing Professor of Population Studies at Stanford University. We discussed recent developments in the ongoing Mass Extinction Event, including co-extinctions and the potential reduction of the aerosol masking effect as the worldwide insurance industry teeters on the brink.      

Kevin and Guy were joined by Stephen Jenkinson, a guest on the show in September, 2015. Today’s discussion included the topics of Jenkinson’s personal history and his outlook on despair.
