What happens when a deeply committed Baptist pastor with five biblical degrees begins to question everything he's been taught? Sun of Thunder's remarkable spiritual journey will challenge and inspire anyone who has ever felt constrained by religious dogma or wondered if there's more to divine connection than what traditional institutions offer.

Sun of Thunder is a gifted healer, clairvoyant and fledgling hoodoo practitioner who was ordained as a preacher of Free Will Baptist (FWB) church. Over time, FWB recognized Sun of Thunder's earnestness in religious educational pursuits, including reading interpretations of the Aramaic and Greek Bibles, and named him Christian Education Director for 27 churches. Eventual pushback on these pursuits coupled with the church's decisions to not aid the community when in dire need convinced Sun to walk a spiritual path away from FWB that better aligns with his truth about God and living in harmony with the world.

Our guest takes us through the pivotal moments that transformed his spiritual path—from a near-fatal car accident where four mysterious hands pushed him back from certain death, to his rise as a respected pastor and Christian Education Director overseeing 27 churches. But beneath his successful ministry career, questions were brewing. Why weren't churches studying original biblical languages? Why did congregations refuse to help struggling neighbors during the housing crisis? And perhaps most troubling, why did spiritual experiences in nature feel more authentically divine than anything he experienced within church walls?

Sun of Thunder describes how a gentle breeze once provided profound healing during one of his darkest moments, and how this experience challenged everything he'd been taught about divine connection. "I received what I needed from nature itself and was able to go forward. So you can't tell me it's all about things in four walls," he explains. His journey eventually led him to explore ancestral veneration practices, creating space to honor those who loved him in life and continue to provide guidance beyond death.

The conversation delves into profound questions about power, control, and authentic spirituality. What happens when institutions position themselves as necessary intermediaries to God? How do we respectfully learn about diverse spiritual traditions without appropriation? And how do we find our own truth when it conflicts with established dogma?

What happens when the successful career you've built no longer aligns with your soul's calling?  Michele Lee's journey from prestigious trial attorney to life coach reveals how our true purpose often hides in plain sight, waiting for us to finally notice the patterns.

Growing up in poverty with colored lunch cards that signaled her family's financial struggles, Michele was determined to create a different life for herself. The legal profession seemed perfect—offering both status and the chance to defend the underdog, something she'd felt drawn to since childhood. For ten years, she thrived representing clients and fighting for justice in Florida courtrooms. Then came the turning point: a case where politics and connections appeared to override fairness. 

When Michele was sanctioned over what amounted to a document title error, her faith in the system crumbled. This disillusionment launched her onto a winding path of self-discovery that included retail sales, meditation, and ultimately, coaching—a role she'd unknowingly been preparing for her entire life.

Looking back, the signs were everywhere. At every workplace, Michele found herself training colleagues and being assigned to coach newcomers. These weren't random assignments but Spirit's persistent nudges toward her authentic purpose. It took a psychic mistakenly identifying her as a teacher to help her connect these dots.

What happens when you follow your intuition across the globe to ancient sacred sites? Katherine Eady's journey to Greece transformed not only her spiritual practice but her entire relationship with her body and emotions.

Despite having no ancestral connection to Greece and battling significant social anxiety, Katherine felt called to join a spiritual retreat to Delphi and other sacred sites. The experience demanded perfect love and perfect trust—surrendering to the unknown with strangers who would quickly become profound spiritual connections. At the Oracle of Trifonios, Katherine participated in a powerful fear release ceremony that began dissolving lifelong anxieties. In the ancient, unexcavated city of Gla, she experienced one of her deepest meditative states ever while chanting with her group in a liminal gateway space.

Most surprising was Katherine's realization that true spiritual connection doesn't come from escaping the body but from fully inhabiting it. The moment Kim Baker says the trees move at a different pace, you can feel the room settle. We invited Kim, Professor Emeritus with a PhD in literacy education, a Usui Reiki master, and a high priestess initiate, because her life bridges scholarship and sacred grounding. She opens up about childhood out-of-body experiences, the quiet power of daily gratitude, and the day ancient sites turned intuition into touchable energy. From Avebury and Glastonbury to the oak that’s watched three centuries pass, Kim shows how place can be teacher, mirror, and home.

We follow her path from reading the Ogham tree alphabet to serving on a local Mohawk Hudson land conservancy board, where preservation becomes practical. Her story pivots to animal guides—a blue heron that once trailed her days and the hawk she found inside her screened porch. With gardening gloves and a calm voice, she carried it back to open sky, accepting that guides change as we do.

Kim offers a reframing that sticks: we aren’t destroying Earth, we’re destroying our own habitat. Trees and plants have endured five mass extinctions; they want us to make it, too. We talk forest bathing and childhood wonder, tree communication and fungal networks, “invasive” species and the cycles that turn loss into shelter and food. She shares what claiming the crone title feels like—less stamina, more presence—and why intentional vegetarianism aligns with caring for land while honoring the life in plants and animals. The throughline is simple and fierce: compassion, connection, and gratitude are choices we can make today.
