Four years ago I started My Social Life, not fully understanding the journey I was about to embark on. Over these last four years I've grown as a person, met tons of incredible people along the way, and learned more than I realize.

I've decided to bring My Social Life to an end after 200 episodes and in this episode I explain why I'm ending the show, reminisce about some of my favourite moments, thank the people who have helped me along the way, lose my train of thought a few times, and just enjoy my time recording the last episode.

Surf is an innovative product that pays you to surf on the internet in exchange for your data which will be anonymized and cohorted so it can’t be traced back to you.

The problem with big tech and data is that they make tons of money off of it (over $500 billion in 2020 alone) and consumers see none of that money… Surf is trying to change that because you will essentially get paid to use the internet. A lot of people don’t even know how your data is used by tech companies or how to protect their data and Surf is not only going to anonymize the data but will also allow consumers to remove their data from the database whenever they choose.

The conversation around consumer data ownership is becoming more prevalent and Surf aims to be at the leading edge of the changes in the industry. Will it be the next big startup? Only time will tell. I personally believe in the product and even joined the team full time to help them on their mission to democratize social data.
