Jarrod Morris, a self-managed country and Americana singer-songwriter from Decatur, Texas. He started his music career following his win at the Larry Joe Taylor Songwriters Competition in 2018, releasing his debut album "West of East" in 2019. Morris, who is also a farrier, performs regionally and at various venues. He has a significant online presence, including over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His songwriting draws inspiration from his experiences and the Texas landscape.
He is a Country/Americana songwriter that writes about his authentic experiences so that his music is relatable & relevant to his listeners. Writing is the core of Jarrod's music. He believes when you write a song, you have a deeper connection to the music.
Just as the title states "The Modern Day Jack of All Trades" Jarrod is about as well rounded guy as we've interviewed on our podcast. He can shoe your horse, write you a song, sing it to you while playing the guitar and then have a conversation like a professional podcaster would! Oh yeah he hosts the Jarrod Morris Vibe Podcast. His music is good, Really Good! But his live performance of his music and the few covers he does is FANTASTIC!
We caught up with Jarrod at the Heritage Social Club in Boise, ID ~ we had a great visit and then watched him and his band put on one hell of a show!

Corey JamesGrubb is an Americana Singer/Songwriter born and raised in Mt. Home, ID. He has been honing his craft over a long career starting with getting his first guitar from the local pawn shop at 15 years old. After years of working countless hours at learning to play, sing, and write songs, he began cutting his teeth in small local dive bars. At his very first public show, he would meet his soon to be mentor, David Lyle 'Pops' Evans of The Western Underground, Chris Ledoux's backing band. Not long after that, he connected with his father's high school buddy Pinto Bennett, a country music legend in Idaho and overseas who also mentored Corey along the way. Between the two of them, he learned an incredible amount about performing. You could say those two legendary musicians helped shape him and his unique brand of Idaho Country Music. Around 2019 he signed with Emanant Music Group out of Atlanta, GA. working with Chas Childers. Chas saw the authenticity in Corey and decided to add him to the label roster. Shortly after signing with MG Records, Corey would release his debut EP 'One For The Road', made up of thought-provoking songs about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, existential crisis, and self doubt. This year at the 2023 International Singer Songwriters Association Awards in Atlanta, he won the 'Emerging Artist Of The Year Gold' award.

Mary Heather Hickman is a Nashville-based country singer-songwriter known for her traditional country sound and storytelling. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, she has lived in various places and formed the band Mary Heather and the Sinners while attending the University of Arkansas. Hickman gained recognition as a contestant on season six of "The Voice" and after her song "Treasure" gained popularity on TikTok in 2021. Her music, including singles like "Small Town Saturday Night" and "Baptist Parking Lot," is available on various platforms.
Here's what - NICOLE MARCHESI, NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY BLOG had to say about her: Bold and unflinching, Mary Heather Hickman's songs tell stories that pack a punch. Her songwriting is both personable and edgy, delivered with a sly dose of tongue-in-cheek humor. While her music has a radio-friendly polish, Mary Heather never loses her down-home drawl; the characters in her songs feel like the type of old friends you'd finish a bottle of Tequila with. This is evidenced by her growing fan base across multiple social media platforms, where several viral videos and her authentic style have garnered widespread attention. Mary Heather Hickman proves there is a strong audience for the gritty, unapologetic songwriting she specializes in.
We had the pleasure of meeting Mary Heather in Nashville where we sat down for a brief conversation about her songwriting and music. She is charming and incredibly talented. Give it a listen. Then go check her out on her social media and streaming platforms.

Phillip Lammonds is a songwriter's songwriter, he's penned more than 4,000 songs over the decades. More than a few have been hits: Hootie & the Blowfish (“One Love”), Lee Brice (“Best Part of Me,” “My Carolina”), Craig Morgan (“Love Loves a Long Night”), and many others. After Brice (Phillips' friend and producer) got him to come out of the songwriter shadows and into the role of performing artist, Cowboy Things debuted in April of 2024, with guest vocal appearances from Darius Rucker and Pam Tillis, and a song co-written with legendary actor Bill Murray.
We were introduced to Phillip by fellow Curb Records songwriter Joe Leathers. Joe called Philip a "Modern Day Renaissance Man" and the hook was set. We had to have a conversation with him. What an interesting and funny guy, he had me laughing from start to finish. Thanks Philip for joining us on the podcast. I know you will enjoy this episode as much as we did!

Joe Leathers is a Nashville songwriter, and regardless of what he says in his social media intro's - He is a GREAT Songwriter! He has written or Co-Written hits like "Hemingways Whiskey" with cuts by Guy Clark, Kenny Chesney and Kris Kristofferson. The hit "Still" for Tim McGraw, "Save the Roses" for Lee Brice and "Tough" for Craig Morgan. Not to mention a hundred plus other cuts with major artists.
We follow Joe on social media and when we were planning our trip to Nashville we reached out and asked for an interview. He graciously agreed, and when we arrived at Curb Records on Music Row in Nashville his first question to me was " Why Me" and I simply answered back "Why Not You"!
Joe Leathers has story after story about his time as a songwriter for the past 21 years. Please listen to this episode, you'll be glad you did.

Craig Campbell put together a string of hits like “Family Man,” “Fish,” “Keep Them Kisses Comin’,” “Outta My Head,” and the gold-certified “Outskirts of Heaven” before launching Grindstone Recordings in 2020. Last year, he released his Class of ’89 album, six classic country hits that represent the core influences who helped mold his desire to pursue a career as an artist and songwriter, and Almost Greatest Hits, re-recordings of six of his smash hits.
We met up with Craig at his Grindstone Cowboy Coffee shop in Eagleville, TN where we sat down with him to discuss his music career, how he got his start in Nashville which led him to a stint playing piano for Luke Bryan and Tracy Byrd. His focus and patience paid off when he scored his own record deal, which eventually ended but not before making his mark by scoring seven Top 40, 1 top 15 singles with "Family Man" and 1 Top 10 "Keep them kisses comin" and one of his most notable singles "Outskirts of Heaven" reaching #24. Now as an independent artist producing music under his own label Grindstone, his future in the music industry is looking bright.
We enjoyed this visit with Craig and have been fans of his music for many years, we hope you enjoy it too! Follow Craig on social media and listen to his music, follow the links below.

Scout Speer’s passion for music was kindled in a home on the Tennessee-Alabama line, where her grandaddy’s guitar playing introduced her to the harmonies that bind a family. Raised amid the sounds of country greats and the rustic farming life, outdoor adventures became as much a part of her as her music. At eight, motivated by a promise from her grandaddy to pass down the family guitar, Scout learned to play, earning herself the cherished instrument.
Though her early ambitions were swayed by a successful athletic career in soccer, including a state championship and playing through college, music remained her true calling. Ultimately, Scout set aside her athletic achievements to follow her dream of country music artistry, a testament to the enduring influence of her grandaddy’s introduction to music, and impact of her rural upbringing.
With her distinctly warm vocal tone and genuine, heartfelt lyrics, Scout Speer will be moving from the great outdoors to the Grand Ole Opry in no time.
We were introduced to this talented young singer/songwriter by Marla Cannon Goodman one of Nashvilles successful singer/songwriter in her own right. With 3 - #1 hits to her credit ("Cleaning this gun" - Rodney Atkins, "10 Rounds of Jose Cuervo" Tracy Byrd, "The Fool" LeeAnn Womack and multiple cuts with other major artists, not to mention she is the daughter of Nashville Producer /Songwriting Legend Buddy Cannon. We're confident that she knows talent when it crosses her path!

With millions of streams on Spotify and millions of downloads on TikTok Ozzy Higley is just a guy from a small town in Idaho with a big future in the music industry. He is one of the artists scheduled to perform on the main stage at the Valley Music Festival in Sun Valley, ID in Sept of 2025. Pretty good for a 19 year old that's never taken a guitar lesson.
We met up with Ozzy at one of his gigs recently to discuss his seemingly overnight success. Although he has been writing and playing for the past 5 years, he is relatively a new comer to the music scene. Jessie Veeder writes and sings about the badlands of Western North Dakota where she grew up and is now working raising kids and cattle as the fourth generation on her family’s cattle ranch. Veeder released her first original album at sixteen and among her five original albums that span a twenty-plus career as a working and touring musician lie unique and interestingly beautiful vocals, rootsy instrumentation and raw lyrics that write the story of the working men and women in the small towns, ranches and oil fields of rural America. Jessie’s most recent release “Whiskey in the Winter” tells the story of working in manual labor against the harsh and isolated climate from the perspective of a man who’s living and enduring it every day. The gritty honesty of the song proves how capable and trustworthy Veeder has become as a voice for the people in her rural community.
We met up with Jessie in Wickenburg, AZ at the Art of the Cowgirl where she shared a glimpse into her music career.

Joni Harms has a warm sincerity and ease to her voice… a voice that shines through on stories and melodies of a country/western way of life, making you feel you are part of the entire experience she sings about, as if she is singing only to you. In many ways, Joni is a pioneer and torch-bearer, knowing the country lifestyle is made up of a blend of musical sounds, giving her a unique style drawing crowds, literally, around the world.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Joni during the Art of the Cowgirl in Wickenburg, AZ this event is second to none, including the entertainment. Art of the Cowgirl was the dream and passion of the late Tammy Pate. Women have played a significant role in ranching and the western way of life. Most of today’s successful ranchers and western artisans have wonderful stories to tell about a wife, mother, or grandmother who influenced their lives. Art of the Cowgirl is designed to spotlight these wonderful women, while sharing the stories of their families, marriages and partnerships that, in turn, shaped them. Art of the Cowgirl will ensure our great artistic and cultural traditions continue, and help women celebrate, gather and connect around horses and western art.
When we had the chance to attend the 2025 Art of the Cowgirl event in Wickenburg, AZ we jumped. This is a wonderful event focused solely on the Cowgirl and her talents, including that of music.
The first artist we had the chance to interview at this years event was a young singer/songwriter who has dreams and aspirations of a music career. Ashley Doty is from Washington state but is currently going to college in Oklahoma. She got the invite to take the stage at AOC from event producer Stacey Yost. Enjoy!

GRUFF, ECLECTIC SONGS AND STORIES ABOUT LIFE IN THE MODERN RURAL WEST Ben Larson developed his storyteller ways over years of hitchhiking and wandering with his guitar from Australia to Newfoundland and a thousand places in between. He lives in a hand-built homestead in Philipsburg with his public school teacher wife and two loony cowdogs. He alternates his days between carpentry and weaving his observations into gruff newspaper columns and eclectic, yet deeply poetic country songs. Several albums of his music can be found on all streaming services, including his most recent release “New Tales From Old Montana.” In support of his new album, Ben’s on a musical mission to bring his western folk music to all 56 counties of Montana 37 down, 20 to go!
Our chance meeting of Ben was a result of happenstance. He knows someone that knows me that happened to mention our podcast online somewhere. He gave us a listen and reached out a few months ago, we finally had the chance to meet in person in Elko at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering where we made arrangements for him to stop by the house for a quick visit. Andy Hedges is a songster, reciter, storyteller, guitarist, and collector of cowboy songs and poems. The son of an Italian schoolteacher and a rodeo cowboy turned preacher, Andy was born in Lubbock, Texas, in the spring of 1980. He grew up in the small community of Tokio, Texas, where his family paid rent on an old farmhouse by looking after a few head of cattle. It was there that Andy fell in love with traditional music by listening to his father’s cassettes of cowboy songs.
Andy’s vast and varied repertoire includes classic cowboy poetry recitations, obscure cowboy songs, dust bowl ballads, and blues. He also hosts a podcast, Cowboy Crossroads which features in-depth interviews with fellow musicians and poets. Andy has performed many times with folk legend Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and the duo’s performance at the 60th Newport Folk Festival was named one of the “10 Best Things We Saw” by Rolling Stone. In 2023, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, and in 2024, Andy brought his album Roll On, Cowboys to Carnegie Hall in New York City.
We met Andy in Elko and had just a few minutes to visit before he had to head off for his next performance at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Our visit was brief, and we could have talked for much longer about the music, and his podcast " Cowboy Crossroads" where he is preserving an oral history for the next generation of fans! Enjoy.
