A soulful blend of country, blues and Americana, Jade Marie Patek brings a unique sound to Texas Country music. Jade was nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year 2018 after her first radio single, “Drive” topped at #28 on The Texas Regional Radio Report, and took home the win in 2019.
Jade comes from a rich musical lineage as the granddaughter of polka legend, Joe Patek. Using her polka roots as inspiration, Jade began writing her own music and performing it live at various venues across the Gulf Coast, Central Texas and beyond. Her original music is purely Texan and definitely original. Her songs are fueled by life experiences, life lessons and a whole lot of heart and soul.
We were first introduced to Jade's music by a close friend and fellow music lover Wes Pahl, who recommended her song "Damn the Rain" she showed up at one of the local music festivals "Hwy 30" here in Idaho. We got to see her live and meet her in person, and we fell in love with her voice and her stage personality right away. We had the opportunity to sit down with Jade in Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX last fall for this interview. If you haven't listened to hear before now, give her a shot.

Raised on classic country and the blues, Julianna Rankin finds herself influenced by a spectrum of artists ranging from Keith Whitley, Bobbie Gentry and Waylon Jennings to Bonnie Raitt, Carole King and James Taylor. Her journey into the industry began in 2018, when she took a headfirst dive towards discovering her artistry while attending Texas A&M University. Since then, Julianna has made her home in New Braunfels, TX, to which she credits a strong circle of talented musicians and local collaboration for recent successes. In the past year, the young singer-songwriter has found herself opening for artists such as Robert Earl Keen, Stoney LaRue, Randall King, Django Walker, Adam Hood, Jason Eady, William Beckmann, Midnight River Choir and more. With her strong vocals and soul-penetrating lyrics, Julianna demands attention from the growing audiences that are lucky enough to catch her sets.
Django Walker told us she was the best kept secret of New Braunfels, TX so he talked the Braun Brothers in bringing her to Idaho for their 40th BBR to join him on stage with Roger Clyne in the Django Walker & Friends Set. After we experienced her incredible vocals we new we had to get her on our podcast as a guest. We sat down with her in Gruene Hall for a great interview.

Located in Gruene Historic District Gruene Hall, built in 1878, is Texas’ oldest continually operating and most famous dance hall. By design, not much has physically changed since the Hall was first built. The 6,000 square foot dance hall with a high pitched tin roof still has the original layout with side flaps for open air dancing, a bar in the front, a small lighted stage in the back and a huge outdoor garden.
Through the years, the big winners have always been Gruene Hall’s patrons. A person watching a show never knows if the artist they see at the Hall today will be a star tomorrow, but they can know that the music they hear will always be top notch.
Legends have graced the stage at Gruene and their photos cover the walls in the front bar room. It just doesn't get any better when it comes to Iconic Texas music venues. Put it on your bucket list!

Hailing from the great State of Texas, Graycie has always wanted to be a singer. From talent shows to open mics and now playing stages all over, she’s doing exactly what she’s always dreamed of. From releasing her first single in March of 2020 to gaining over 1 million streams in just a year with her version of ‘Texas Rain’, Graycie has started to make a name for herself and continues to pour her heart and soul into her music. Inspiration from artists like Patsy Cline, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Dolly, and more have played a vital role in Graycie’s songwriting and love for music. Being a fully independent artist is never easy but Graycie has taken the reigns and there's no slowing her down. When you mix a little western with a little hippie, you have Graycie York.
We have been fans of Graycie since the first time we heard her on Spotify. Then we got to see her perform live at the Hwy 30 Festival in Filer, ID and we became even bigger fans. We fell in love with her voice & stage presence and bigger than life personality. She was one of the first artist that I added to the list of who I wanted to interview on the podcast.
We finally got the chance to sit down with her in San Marcos, TX where she had just performed at the Cheatham Street Warehouse 50th anniversary party. We sure loved our visit, hope you enjoy it too!

JD Grahams story is one of tragedy and triumph. After 25 years of drug addiction, he ended up in the Arizona State Pen for manslaughter. While serving his sentence, JD got sober and found a relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ. Not to mention he honed his songwriting and story telling skills. Please go listen to his album "A Pound of Rust" one of our favorites is the title track!
We met up with JD in Dripping Springs, TX one of our stops on our roadtrip in search of artists with compelling stories. Little did we know how much his story would impact us! Although this is just a glimpse into a life of addiction and ultimate road of recovery, it's a story worth sharing. We hope you enjoy the listen!
