hello dear listeners,
after a few months of hiatus I am back to nerd out about YuGiOh 5Ds, once again. Upon my second rewatch I noticed a few things in terms of censorship and tone shifts. This is the firsst case I have come across where a regional dubbing and censorship thing lead to a completely new instrumental score which has an interesting effect on subtext and ambiance and I wanted to share my thoughts on this. Also I fangirl too hard, as per usual.
For illustrative purposes (and since I am hilariously bad at describing music for a musicology student) I have here a few links to tracks I am talking about.
First and foremost, since the American Dub Score was never officially released, I cannot redirect you to specific tracks BUT I can give you this nicely filtered track that I am 99% sure plays in EP3 of the dub, at the beginning of the duel between Officer Trudge and Yusei that I describe in the episode. A majority of the duels sound about the same.
