Honda’s legendary engineering prowess has led to many innovations over the years. Not least, Honda was the first company to come up with a seamless transmission in MotoGP, and of course we’re now seeing the incredible Dual Clutch Transmission on several models, the favorite of mine being the outstanding Gold Wing touring bike. Well now we’re seeing something very different again. The new Honda CBR- and CB650R models are now equipped with Honda’s all-new E-clutch technology. This automates the clutch operation with computer-controlled electronic assistance—while still allowing the rider to use the clutch manually if they want to! This amazing innovation will especially appeal to new riders, but clearly it could be fitted to just about any of the Honda range too. Nic de Sena has ridden using the new e-clutch, and he and Don discuss the pros and cons. In our second segment this week, Teejay Adams chats with Mark Long of the relatively new Driven to Ride podcast that shares the stories of motorcyclists from all walks of life. Mark came to podcasting via radio, so he’s a genuine professional in the audio world, and as an avid motorcycle rider, it seems like a natural fit to have him around in the motorcycle audio business. Mark explores his life-changing experiences on two wheels, with one of his first ventures to the iconic Sturgis motorcycle rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota. If you haven’t listened to Driven to Ride, then you really should. Anything we can all do to help bring more enthusiasts to motorcycling has to be a good thing! By the way, if you’re into Dual-Sport riding, then should check out the new Arai XD-5. It’s completely redesigned, and typical Arai, every improvement is made with a priority for protection. For example, the new visor system is designed to maximize vision and surface area to glance off impact energy whilst at the same time offering easy installation and removal. Arai is obsessed with every detail; there is such a thing as “The Arai Difference”. A helmet is not only about safety, it’s also about comfort. The incredible fit and plush interior of any of the Arai helmets is immediately noticeable. So get to your local dealer and try out the full range of Arai helmets. You will be instantly amazed at the fit and all-day comfort of any Arai helmet. You should also check out AraiAmericas.com to learn more. We love your feedback! There’s nothing quite like massive amounts of torque to make a motorcycle accelerate in a real hurry, and that is one of the allures of an electric motorcycle. In this week’s first segment, Don Williams talks about riding the new Verge TS Pro. There are several areas where this bike is unusual, not least its looks. But its claimed torque output of 738 ft/lbs is such a ludicrous-sounding number it raises a bunch of questions. Having ridden it briefly around Malibu, Don fills us in on whether this very different motorcycle is actually worth a real look. In our second segment this week, Teejay Adams chats with Rick Glover and his son Cooper. Cooper is only just a teenager, but he’s shown real promise on the racetrack, and indeed, he won the SFLMiniGP series Championship in 2023. Truth is, America needs these youngsters to progress in the sport so that we can have real competitors once more at the MotoGP level. Cooper’s Dad Rick fills us in on the effort and commitment needed to bring his son to the forefront of motorcycle racing with the ultimate goal of reaching the world stage. So, from all of us here at Motos and Friends, we hope you enjoy this episode! By the way, if you’re into Dual-Sport riding, then should check out the new Arai XD-5. | 2025 Triumph Daytona 660 + Moto-Cyco Touring Adventures | 17 Apr 2024 | 01:03:52
This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the 2025 Triumph Daytona 660. The all-new middleweight triple stands out amongst the well-established parallel twins in the class—and it does it for an exceptional price. In the second segment this week I chat with the three founders of Moto-Cyco Touring Adventures. Pat Campbell, Greg Mason, and Scott Urwick want to share their passion for themed guided tours throughout what they believe is the best place in the United States to ride—New England. All three guys (and their wives!) are serious motorcycle enthusiasts with more than three-and-a-half decades of combined riding experience. They have led safe, organized group rides for over 10 years and collectively, they average more than 50,000 miles of riding every year. The themed rides sound spectacular, and after hearing their story I believe you will feel the same. I hope you will consider joining them on one of their rides. We love your feedback! | Suzuki GSX-S1000GT + Rusty Mac of Aussie Backroads Moto Touring | 27 Apr 2022 | 00:59:19
Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends, a weekly podcast brought to you by the editorial team at Ultimate Motorcycling. In this week’s first segment Editor Don Williams brings us his thoughts on Suzuki’s eagerly awaited GSX-S 1000 GT… that’s the sport touring version of the company’s upright naked sport bike. Don has just returned from a successful two-day, 750-mile round trip on the GT and it seems that overall, he was quite impressed by the bike. The second segment is the final one in our series from Brisbane, Australia. Associate Editor Teejay Adams and myself chatted with motorcycle adventurer Rusty Mac about his guided outback touring company Australian Backroads Motorcycle Touring. Rusty has been taking all-comers on day-trips for many years, and has now branched out into overnight trips as well. | Kawasaki Z650RS + Brian Slark Pt 2 ”The man who helped bring Norton to America” with Neale Bayly. | 20 Apr 2022 | 01:18:48
Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends—a weekly Podcast brought to you by the editorial team at Ultimate Motorcycling. This week we go retro! We start off the first segment with Senior Editor Nic de Sena talking to us about the new Kawasaki Z650 RS. This retro-styled moto follows after the huge success of the Z900 RS, and it follows the same inspiration as its sibling. The KZ650 back I the seventies was a brilliant machine that combined relatively light weight and a motor that revved to the moon, so it quickly gained popularity and sold very very well. The new Z650 RS plays to the visual strengths of the original and certainly for me, the flawless emerald green, pinstriped paintwork, and the gold spoke-type wheels are very evocative of the original. In the second segment, Neale Bayly continues his chat with Brian Slark—the man who helped bring Norton to the United States. Brian talks to Neale not just about his amazing career, but he also gives us some insight into the burgeoning motorcycle industry of the late sixties and early seventies in America. The rivalry between Triumph, Norton, and of course the other now extinct British brands such as BSA, AJS and Matchless was pretty fierce apparently, and Brian’s first hand witness account to the whole era is fascinating. We hope you enjoy this episode! Check out our review and pictures of the Kawasaki Z650RS here
| Tiger 1200 + ex-500cc GP racer, Aussie Paul Lewis | 13 Apr 2022 | 01:43:01 | |
Hello friends—welcome once again to the Ultimate motorcycling podcast, Motos and er… Friends. In the first segment this week, Editor Don Williams talks with Associate Editor Freeman Wood, who recently returned from Portugal and riding both the GT and Rally Pro versions of the all new Triumph Tiger 1200. The Gt version is more street-oriented than the Rally Pro, and if you’re in a quandary about which one interests you the most, Freeman’s comments may help clarify things. In the second segment, I get to chat with ex-500cc Grand Prix racer, Paul Lewis. I met him once way back when—and he said to me “Arthur, you’ve got to understand, going fast on the racetrack is all about commitment.” No kidding. In the early 80s, towards the end of Barry Sheene’s remarkable career, Paul burst on to the World Championship road race scene and caused quite the stir, setting pole position in his very first race at Donington Park. Paul later raced at Daytona for several years running—including one year riding the John Britten Pre-cursor machine. Nowadays, Paul is a principal at Salt Motorcycles—a gorgeously retro, hand-built in Australia, café racer based on the KTM 300cc 2-stroke dirt bike motors. Fast and very light Salt Motorcycles must be an absolute blast to ride. Paul is a real character; he’s raced against many of the absolute best from the GP heyday, and I loved catching up with him and hearing about some of the craziness of the past 500cc Grand Prix era. I know you’ll absolutely love this episode. | Ducati Streetfighter V2 + Brough Superior and Fred Drake | 06 Apr 2022 | 01:13:55
This week brings you a V-twin extravaganza! Well… that’s a bit of an exaggeration of course, but suffice it to say that in the first segment Nic de Sena talks to us about Ducati’s new Streetfighter V2—the one based on the Panigale V-Twin, not the V4. The twin cylinder motor is to some people the very essence of Ducati, and the Streetfighter with the latest generation V-twin motor proves that Ducati is still very much committed to it. I recorded the second segment on our recent trip to Queensland, Australia. As you may know, the original Brough Superior motorcycles were first manufactured in England in the 15 years or so before the outbreak of the second World War. At the time, the Brough was so exquisitely made that George Brough claimed them to be “the Rolls-Royce of motorcycles” and indeed, they really were. The Brough Superior name was purchased a few years ago, and a French design company developed a new version of the Brough based on the original ethos of innovation and spectacular quality. Serial production in very limited quantities started in 2016. Fred Drake is the importer and distributor of Brough motorcycles in Australia, and I was fascinated to visit the Brisbane showroom and chat with him about the motorcycles that he has such passion for. I urge you to visit Fred’s website and take a look, you’ll find it at Brough Superior Australia. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

| Suzuki GSX-S1000 + Brian Slark with Neale Bayly | 30 Mar 2022 | 01:14:30 | |
Hello listeners and welcome once again to Motos and Friends, a weekly Podcast brought to you by Ultimate Motorcycling. This week we bring you the newly updated Suzuki GSX-S1000. Suzuki has updated their naked liter-bike upright with several fairly significant upgrades, and Senior Editor Nic de Sena tells us all about it. In the second segment, Editor at Large Neale Bayly sits down at the Barber Advanced Design Center at the Barber museum in Birmingham Alabama, and chats with Brian Slark, the gentleman who – among other things – brought Norton motorcycles to America. This is the first part of three, and gives and introduction to Brian and how he got started in motorcycling. We hope you enjoy this episode!
| Enfield Interceptor 650 + Robert Pandya of the Buffalo Chip at Sturgis | 23 Mar 2022 | 00:48:56 | |
This week, Associate Editor Teejay Adams and I get to ride a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 for our travels around Brisbane, Australia, thanks to the team at Motorcycle Holdings who arranged it. In Royal Enfield tradition, the Interceptor 650 features the larger twin-cylinder engine in a retro styled package with a ton of charisma. It turned out to be really fun ride—we were pleasantly surprised by how it performed. In the second segment, I get to chat with one of my longest-standing industry buddies, Robert Pandya. Robert was recently named COO of the Buffalo Chip Campground in Sturgis, South Dakota. The legendary Chip is the central part of the Sturgis rally every year, and with the redoubtable energy of Robert Pandya, I expect to see the attendance grow exponentially. We’ll see. Robert’s a fun guy to talk to; I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this episode!

| Harley Bagger Race Bike with Nic de Sena | 17 Mar 2022 | 00:54:25 | |
It’s been quite a while since Harley-Davidson was involved in road racing, but thanks to the newly conceived King of the Baggers class, The Motor Company is back on paved circuits. Last year the series had less than a handful of rounds, and to their credit, the Harley bagger, piloted by the very capable Kyle Wyman, took the Championship win. Needless to say, turning a bagger into a real race machine wasn’t easy. The Harley-Davidson effort consisted of a group of volunteers at the factory who pooled a considerable amount of their time and knowledge in a combined effort to create, develop, and prepare a motorcycle that could race with real credibility. The machine itself is amazing, as you might imagine. And for this week’s Podcast, Senior Editor Nic de Sena chats to us about some of the race bike secrets, and of course his ride on Wyman’s actual factory race bike at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Arizona. This year, the Moto America King of the Baggers Championship has been extended to seven rounds. They’ve already raced at Daytona Speed Week for the first round, and it’s going to be REAL interesting to see how the remaining rounds shake out. We hope you enjoy this episode!
| KTM SD Evo + Herrera Racing Nitrous Hayabusa | 10 Mar 2022 | 02:37:59 | |
We’ve got a high performance episode coming to you this week on Motos and Friends! My name is Arthur Coldwells, and in the first segment Nic de Sena tells us about KTM’s new Super Duke Evo. There’s a big upgrade in the suspension and electronics departments, and Nic had a chance to ride the bike on the street and on track at Buttowillow Raceway in California. In the second segment, I chat with tuner and drag racer Augustine Herrera of Herrera Racing. Suzuki has just launched the 3rd generation Hayabusa, and although Herrera hasn’t yet had a chance to work with the new bike, his results with the first two generations of the model are astonishing. His son currently has the fastest Hayabusa in the country. It puts out around 600 horsepower and ran a 6.6 seconds standing quarter at 210 MPH. Holy moly. I hope you enjoy this episode! | BMW G310R + Why We Ride’s Bryan Carroll | 02 Mar 2022 | 01:18:46
Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Motos and Friends—a weekly podcast from Ultimate Motorcycling and brought to you by the all new Suzuki Hayabusa. Widely regarded as the Ultimate Sportbike, the third-generation Hayabusa by Suzuki melds two generations of refinement, resulting in the quickest, most technologically advanced and aerodynamic Hayabusa yet. Head into your local Suzuki dealer now, or visit suzukicycles.com to learn more. My name is Arthur Coldwells. This week Associate Editor Kelly Callan talks to Teejay and myself about the brilliant BMW G 310 R. Kelly was commuting on it recently, but found she so enjoyed riding the BMW that she ended up taking it on some fun rides at the weekend too. In the second segment I chat with Bryan Carroll, the idea and producer of the hit documentary Why We Ride from a few years back. Bryan is a successful TV and film producer, and not surprisingly, he has evolved his much acclaimed Why We Ride project into a much bigger idea—visit it at Motovational.org and you’ll see The annual Ride to the Quail, plus a whole lot more. Motovational recently raised over $20,000 for the Ride for Kids pediatric brain tumor foundation, and as you might assume, Bryan hasn’t stopped there. I hope you enjoy this episode!
| 2024 H-D Hydraglide Revival + Motorcycle Training issues | 03 Apr 2024 | 01:34:45 | |
This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the latest addition to the Harley Icons Collection, the 2024 Harley-Davidson Hydraglide Revival. This beautiful new softail commemorates the 75th anniversary of the hydraulic telescopic fork debuting on a Harley-Davidson. Don rode the Hydraglide Revival with his usual enthusiasm for all of these Icons Collection bikes, and of course he answers the big question: does the Hydraglide ride as beautifully as it looks? Fair warning: The second segment this week is going to be controversial. Were you taught NOT to cover the brakes when riding? Were you taught NOT to brake on entry into a corner? Were you ‘coached out’ of new rider training because you didn’t grasp it quickly enough? It seems that although new rider training is excellent in many regards, there are certain fundamentals being taught that are just plain wrong. At best, they’re causing recently new riders to leave the sport—and at worst, these incorrect fundamentals are costing lives. This episode, Associate Editor Teejay Adams chats with several people who recently attended new rider training to get their take. The main discussion is led by Nick Ienatsch of Yamaha Champions Riding School, one of the several passionate voices trying to get things changed. Whether you think you’ve been taught correctly or incorrectly, this segment will be of interest to you. We need training groups and indeed, the industry itself to get behind this movement to evolve and improve these significant points. We need those with a passion to ride motorcycles to stick with it, and not get put off and leave the sport. If you agree, please leave a comment on our social media or message us directly. Let’s get the word out and make a positive change! We love your feedback! Please comment or suggest:
| Harley Road/Street Glide STs + Classic Avenue and Nick Smith | 23 Feb 2022 | 01:20:34 | |
Welcome once again to Motos and Friends, a Podcast by the editorial team at Ultimate Motorcycling, and brought to you by the all-new Suzuki Hayabusa. Your ultimate ride awaits—check out the exciting new Hayabusa at Suzukicycles.com, or of course go see it in person at your local Suzuki dealer. This week, our featured moto is from The Motor Company—Harley-Davidson. Nice de Sena gives us his thoughts on the new, slightly sportier ST models of the Street and Road Glide touring machines. These are directly influenced by west coast custom culture, and offer a really cool departure from the typical touring bikes. In the second segment, I chat with Nick Smith of Classic Avenue, a California-based auctioneer of some really nice motorcycles and cars. Nick originally came from over the pond and worked for some years with Bonham’s auctions, so his standards are extremely high. Looking over the website there are some truly drool-worthy bikes up for auction. Nick gives us his thoughts on the market in general, and why he believes his way of doing things makes all the difference. We hope you enjoy this episode!
| Honda Gold Wing + Mike Browne Photographer w Neale Bayly | 16 Feb 2022 | 01:22:17 | |
Motos and Friends Podcast by Ultimate Motorcycling, is brought to you by the all-new, 3rd generation Suzuki Hayabusa. My name is Arthur Coldwells. The new Hayabusa while staying true to its iconic design, now looks even more dramatic and futuristic; somehow Suzuki’s styling department has refined the Hayabusa’s looks and it is even more gorgeous than before. Really. But the beauty of Hayabusa is more than just skin-deep. Led by the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System, Hayabusa riders now have the latest in electronic aids, like Traction Control, cornering ABS, a quick shifter, and cruise control. With even stronger acceleration from the Hayabusa’s 1340 cc inline four-cylinder engine, and agile handling delivered by the revised chassis and suspension, the new Hayabusa delivers top-tier sportbike performance. Take a look at the ultimate sportbike at Suzukicycles.com, or of course you can swoop into your nearest dealer and check it out in person; I promise, you will be absolutely amazed. In the first segment, Associate Editor Teejay Adams and I discuss the new Honda Gold Wing that was revised last year in the 2021 model. For 2022 the bike is unchanged other than revised colors are now available. A little oddly perhaps there’s no red or even a two-tone version available for 2022, but don’t let that stop you checking out Honda’s flagship. Teejay and I had a chance to ride the new bike a few months ago, and of course, we absolutely loved it. What’s not to love? Actually, here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we’ve written plenty about the new Gold Wing, and I’d imagine you’re well up to date on the bike specs from the rider’s POV. But the Wing is a friendly machine designed to take passengers in as much—if not more—comfort than the rider, so we thought it might be interesting to focus on Gold Wing life—from the passenger’s seat. The second segment is brought to you by the ‘Ultimate’ Editor-at-Large …Neale Bayly. Your favorite reprobrit now finds himself at the Xposure International Photography Festival in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This annual photography exhibition features the work of the very best photographers in the world. This time, Neale is chatting with Mike Browne, the world-class photographer who just happens to do his best work from the seat of his motorcycle. Please check out his YouTube channel
| Indian FTR R Carbon and George Puckhaber goes to the Far East | 09 Feb 2022 | 01:23:34 | |
The Motos and Friends Podcast from Ultimate Motorcycling is brought to you by the new Suzuki Hayabusa. Led by the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System, the new Hayabusa stays true to its iconic design, with its straighter, sharper lines making it the most aerodynamic Hayabusa ever. Take a look at the ultimate sportbike at Suzukicycles.com, or of course you can swoop into your nearest dealer and check it out in person; you will be absolutely astonished. This week Don Williams takes us for a ride on the all new Indian FTR R Carbon. Of course the new iteration of Indian has brought us some excellent cruisers and touring machines—the company is clearly serious. Yet, interestingly, it seems that Indian clearly wants to branch out …a lot. The new 1200cc V-twin FTR shows the world just how seriously the company is getting with the sport side of its business, and indeed, the FTR was the machine ridden to Championship victory by Lady Racer Patricia Fernandez. Riding her Saddlemen sponsored FTR to win last year’s Superhooligan class of the Bagger Racing League, Patricia proved that the FTR can consistently make it to the top step of the podium. The second part of this week’s podcast is the 3rd part of George Puckhaber’s travelogue. We’ve already heard how he travelled down to the end of the South American continent and back, and now he recounts his recent trip to the far East—to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. This time he didn’t ride his BMW 1200 GS…
| Super Middleweight Adventure to the Mojave Megaphone | 02 Feb 2022 | 01:05:05 | |
This episode is brought to you by the gorgeous new, 3rd generation Suzuki Hayabusa. Widely regarded as the Ultimate Sportbike, the new Hayabusa is a refined rocket-ship—it is the quickest, and most technologically advanced Hayabusa yet. The beautifully refined, swooping bodywork is not gorgeous to look at, it’s also the most aerodynamic Hayabusa yet. Check it out at suzukicycles.com or of course you could swoop down to your nearest Suzuki dealer and check it out for yourself. This week we bring you an absolutely fascinating, sort of ‘all-in-one’ episode. It’s an adventure ride for the ages, right here in our back yard of the Mojave desert in Southern California. As a brief teaser I can tell you that there is such a thing as the ‘Mojave Megaphone’. It is a true oddity, and interestingly it’s not even that well known locally. It’s a large—can only be described as—metal art object that looks the same as its name implies. It was placed in the middle of nowhere, California. Who placed it, how they did it, when, and even why—all remain mysteries to this day. Editor Don Williams has heard rumors of the Mojave Megaphone for years, and finally decided to go visit it. Persuading our always-up-for-anything off-road fast guy—Associate Editor Jess McKinley, they sourced a BMW F 850 GS Adventure, and a KTM 890 Adventure R to compare and review, and headed into the Mojave to find out exactly what’s there. This episode will—for sure—make you want to put the daily grind to one side, drop everything, and just get out and go for a ride… It certainly did that for me. If you want to check out the Don’s pictures and story please visit our website at ultimatemotorcycling.com.
| BMW S 1000 R + Nearly Antarctica #2 w George Puckhaber | 26 Jan 2022 | 01:35:33 | |
Welcome to this week’s podcast, brought to you by the all new, latest generation Suzuki Hayabusa. It is the quickest, most technologically advanced, and aerodynamic Hayabusa yet. Learn more about why the new Hayabusa is the ultimate ride, at suzukicycles.com—or of course you can head down to your nearest dealer and see the new Hayabusa for yourself. This week we bring you Senior Editor Nic de Sena’s impression of BMW’s completely revamped S 1000 R with the M pack and Sport package. This is the upright, hyper-naked version derived from the BMW S 1000 RR superbike and the version that Nic rode is the top-of-the-line S 1000 R that comes with the M package, and the Sport package as well. After that, we continue with the second and final part of my friend Gentleman George Puckhaber’s fascinating story of his self-guided ride to the bottom of the World. This was a year-long trip to the lowest part of South America, the town of Ushuaia, Argentina. Next stop Antarctica if you are so inclined! In last week's part 1 telling of the trip, George left Southern California on his BMW GS1200, headed down through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, through the Darien Gap and into Columbia. We pick up the story this week as he reaches Ecuador. From us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, and the good folk at Suzuki bringing you the new Hayabusa—we hope you enjoy this episode!
| Dual Sport bike comparison and Nearly Antarctica with George Puckhaber | 19 Jan 2022 | 01:11:12 | |
Welcome to Motos and Friends, an Ultimate Motorcycling Podcast brought to you by Suzuki motorcycles. The all-new 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle is here—check it out at suzukicycles.com or of course, at your local dealer. The ultimate ride awaits! This week on Motos & Friends we take you on a couple of journeys. The first was relatively local, and pretty short, to Moab, Utah, where Associate Editor Teejay Adams and I tested the Yamaha TW200 and the Kawasaki KLX230 on a long, local fire road trail and later on the street. These relatively entry-level bikes, but man, we had huge fun on them, and in several ways both bikes surprised us. In the second segment, I chat with a dear friend of mine, Gentleman George Puckhaber. As a successful TV show Producer, with projects such as “The World’s Deadliest Catch”, “Ice Road Truckers”, and “Storage Wars” on his resume, George decided that he wasn’t quite living large enough. So, checking an item off his bucket list, he bought a big BMW 1250 GS ADV bike, and headed South. Ultimately riding a long and winding path through some 11 countries and covering nearly 40,000 miles, he rode through Patagonia and the Andes, all the way through Chile and into Argentina to the bottom of the World—Ushuaia—pretty much the last place you can get to before reaching the Antarctic. George’s ambitious journey took some telling, so we’ve had to separate it into two parts, the second of which you’ll be able to hear next week. It’s a really cool story from a really great guy—we hope you enjoy hearing all about it!
| Suzuki SV650 + Britten V1000 and Chuck Huneycutt w Neale Bayly | 12 Jan 2022 | 01:45:34 | |
Motos and Friends, a weekly Podcast brought to you by Ultimate Motorcycling, and powered by the all new Suzuki Hayabusa—the ultimate sportbike. Visit suzukicycles.com to find out more. The ultimate ride awaits! In the first segment Senior Editor Nic de Sena talks about the Suzuki SV650. The iconic SV actually came out over 20 years ago, and it can be argued has subsequently become a cult classic, especially among the racing fraternity. Despite its age, this inexpensive middleweight still works extremely well with massive aftermarket support should you want to go fast with it. In the second segment, Neale Bayly chats with Chuck Huneycutt, the Lead Motorcycle Restoration Expert at the Barber Museum. Chuck is an ex-racer and arguably the leading restorer of racing motorcycles in the country. Needless to say Chuck also gets to ride a lot of them, perhaps the most interesting one of which is the astounding Britten V1000 which is displayed on the top floor of the museum, appropriately just outside the new Design Center. Chuck rode the Britten several times so we get to hear his thoughts on that.

| Triumph Tiger 660 + Mike Holliday w Neale Bayly | 05 Jan 2022 | 01:59:26 | |
Hello everyone and happy new year! Here’s hoping 2022 is a great year for us all! This is Motos and Friends – a weekly podcast brought to you by the editorial team at Ultimate Motorcycling and sponsored by Suzuki motorcycles USA. Are you ready for the revolutionary new 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle?! Check out the details of the ultimate ride, at suzukicycles.com. This week, our contributor Laura Fitzpatrick gives us her impressions of the new Triumph Tiger 660. Laura left her cold and rainy home in Dublin, Ireland for the sunny skies and balmy temperatures of Faro, Portugal to ride the exciting new middleweight. The Tiger 660 uses the company’s excellent new three-cylinder engine slotted into an ADV package, and it seems Laura really liked not just Portugal, but the Triumph Tiger as well. In this next segment, Editor-at-Large, Neale Bayly, chats with Mike Holliday, owner of the Crossroads Coffee Shop in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Neale lives locally to Mike and visits Crossroads Coffee almost daily, although for some odd quirk of the universe Neale and Mike were somehow never in the shop at the same time, and so never met. However, when it actually happened, Neale was blown away to discover that Mike was not just a fellow motorcyclist, but that they’d traveled much the same path on trips across South America. Small world eh?? So Mike and Neale get to reminisce about some of their equally crazy travel stories, and give us an insight into what it’s like to REALLY travel on two wheels. 2022 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 Test in Portugal: A Personal Experience

| Ducati V4 Pikes Peak plus Sportbike Chic, LaShundra Rucker | 23 Dec 2021 | 01:26:44 | |
Season’s Greeting to you all! The team here at Ultimate Motorcycling wishes every one of you a happy and relaxing holiday—I think we’ve all earned it! This week’s episode brings you the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition. Senior Editor Nic de Sena rode it in sketchy weather conditions in the mountains above Palm Springs. The bike is really very different from the ADV version launched earlier this year, so I’m sure you’ll be interested to hear what he has to say. This second segment brings us a young lady that I personally admire very much. Associate Editor Teejay Adams chats with LaShundra Rucker, founder and owner of Sportbike Chic, a motorcycle apparel and accessories retailer for women. LaShundra is a former Marine, so as you might imagine, she’s made of stern stuff. Sportbike Chic is growing well, and as a small business owner myself, I know how challenging it can be to make a living in the motorcycle world. That she had the courage to do it, and the brains to make it work, is very impressive, and it makes her worthy of our respect. She’s very articulate and has a great sense of humor, so I really enjoyed hearing what she had to say about her company’s journey to date. I hope you do, too! 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Test: Palms to Pines First Ride
| Season Gift Guide + Mert Lawwill w Jeff Buchanan | 16 Dec 2021 | 00:57:02 | |
Well, ‘tis the season to be jolly and all that, so in the first segment this week, we bring you a brief Gift Guide. Associate Editor Teejay Adams and I discuss several suggestions for that hard-to-buy-for motorcycle enthusiast you care for. Alternatively, if you hear of something you fancy and you figure you’re on Santa’s nice list—then maybe drop a little hint in the right place and make his job slightly easier. The second segment is just plain cool. Well, to be more specific, Jeff Buchanan chats with Mert Lawwill about the King of Cool—Steve McQueen. That’s a little cryptic, so, to be more specific, it was 50 years ago this year that the most enduring motorcycle movie ever made was released: On Any Sunday. If you haven’t seen it, the documentary featured Mert Lawwill, Malcolm Smith, and Steve McQueen as the individual subjects. | 2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio + Ray Hammons | 20 Mar 2024 | 01:48:57
This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio. It has been around eight years since Moto Guzzi updated the Stelvio, and so expectations were quite high when Nic went to the launch in Spain. Don chats with Nic about his experiences with the new Stelvio, and whether this new version is now a credible ADV bike. Motos and Friends is brought to you by Arai helmets. Yes, there is such a thing as “The Arai Difference” and it reflects the company’s incredible attention to detail. For instance, if your experience has been that helmets are hard to get on, then try the Arai Contour-X, designed with a wider bottom opening for easier on/off; it is the helmet you’ve been waiting for. Once on, you will be amazed at the extreme comfort of the Contour-X, a key benefit for long-distance touring. Another example of “The Arai Difference”: Side Air Channels. The Corsair-X utilizes internal ducting, which effectively increases the extraction of hot, moist air from the eye-port area, to both help reduce shield fogging and increase your comfort. Get to your local Arai dealer and try the Contour-X and the Corsair-X, you won’t be disappointed! If you want to learn more, visit AraiAmericas.com. In the second segment this week, Associate Editor Teejay Adams chats with Ray Hammons. Despite his mature age, a couple years ago Ray realized a long time dream—to learn to ride a motorcycle. To say that he jumped in with both feet is somewhat of an understatement. Ray was fortunate enough to attend the YCRS Champ Street School when he first got his license, and interestingly, he credits the school with saving his life almost immediately. The topic of whether you should cover the brake when riding is actually quite controversial, and if you do it during an MSF course, you will fail. This is patently wrong, and Ray is clearly hoping the right people wake up, and this change is made to rider training across the country. We love your feedback! Please comment or suggest:
| Flagships Tested - Triumph and Ducati | 08 Dec 2021 | 01:04:39 | |
Hey everyone and welcome to our Motos and Friends Podcast, brought to you by the Editors at Ultimate Motorcycling. I’m Arthur Coldwells. This week we feature two premium quality, flagship-level motorcycles. We’re coming into launch season and that means we ride the latest and greatest motorcycles for the coming year. Senior Editor Nic de Sena has just returned from a week in southern Spain where he put two exceptional motorcycles to the test. The first was the 2022 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR—that’s the one with the gorgeous Café Racer styling—on both road and on track. Days later, Nic made his way to MotoGP’s Circuito de Jerez—Angel Nieto, where he spent a day riding Ducati’s jaw-dropping new Panigale V4 S, with two riders whose names you might recognize if you follow Grand Prix racing. Nic’s insight into both these machines is fascinating to hear—I really hope you enjoy this episode! 2022 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Review [13 Fast Facts] 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 Lineup First Look [22 Fast Facts + Photos]

| Honda Navi + EICMA Italian Round Up | 01 Dec 2021 | 00:59:47 | |
This week we bring you something a little different. In the first segment, Senior Editor Nic de Sena talks to us briefly about the new Honda Navi. At just over $1800, this little runabout is crazy good value for money and perfect for those students needing easy transport around campus, or perhaps for city folks looking for an easy, urban traffic-beater. In the second segment, Editor Don Williams gives us a roundup of the various Italian machines announced at the recent EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. These include Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia, Benelli, Italjet, and Bimota. There are some mouth-watering motorcycles coming down the pike in 2022, and we are looking forward to riding and reviewing these new arrivals! 2022 Honda Navi Review (10 Fast Facts For Urban Motorcycle Riders) 2022 Honda Navi First Look (13 Fast Facts - $1807 Motorcycle)

| Aprilia Tuareg 660 + Motus Motorcycles and Brian Case | 17 Nov 2021 | 01:20:19 | |
Motos and Friends this week brings you Senior Editor Nic de Sena’s perspective on the newly launched Aprilia 660 Tuareg ADV bike. Nic rode the bike in Sardinia and was impressed with Aprilia’s take on the middleweight section of the adventure-bike market. It’s not exotically priced, so if you’re looking for this type of machine, the Tuareg is definitely worthy of your attention. The second segment is brought to you by Editor-at-Large Neale Bayly. It’s the story of the sadly defunct Motus motorcycles, and he interviews Brian Case, who designed the well-engineered V-4 engine, as well as the entire motorcycle chassis to wrap around it. 200 Motus motorcycles were made, and Brian tells us the story of how it all played out. | Husqvarna Norden 901 | 10 Nov 2021 | 00:28:39
This week we come to you straight from the launch of Husqvarna’s all new Norden 901 adventure bike. Jess McKinley was fortunate enough to try out the new beast—although he had to travel all the way to Azores to do it. The new Husqvarna middleweight is high powered, light, and it contains a couple of very nice surprises—not least how competitively priced it is. We hope you enjoy this episode!
| BMW F900 XR vs Triumph Tiger 850 S + Neale Bayly‘s Laverda Project | 03 Nov 2021 | 01:30:44 | |
This week’s Podcast starts off with a comparison between two ADV class bikes, the 2021 BMW F 900 XR, and Triumph's Tiger 850 Sport. On the face of it, these two machines are very similar, yet as we discovered, they’re really very different. Nic de Sena takes us through them and the surprising differences. If you’re in the market for this style of machine, we’ll be interested to hear which one you end up with, and why. Our contact information is below, so please let us know what you think! In the second segment, Neale Bayly introduces us to his Laverda project. Laverda is one of the storied Italian brands that sadly disappeared some time ago. But in the 1970s Laverda was alive and well, and some iconic motorcycles came out of the factory. Neale chats with me about resurrecting one of the first motorcycles he acquired and the stories that are woven into the fabric of that machine. Enjoy! | Honda NC750X + Neale Bayly Rides pt1 | 27 Oct 2021 | 01:21:44
On this week’s Motos & Friends we explore the theme of travel and touring. Our ‘Moto’ is Honda’s NC750X… a super user-friendly and incredibly versatile middleweight that won’t break the bank. Interestingly, with the addition of Honda’s luggage system, NC750X has a downright amazing amount of carrying capacity. The bike comes in both standard shift and DCT flavors, and Don Williams gives us his thoughts on the DCT—Dual Clutch Transmission—version. Our chat this week comes from long-time friend Neale Bayly. Neale and I have been fellow moto-journalists for approaching two decades, generally roaring around the globe testing the latest and greatest. All very cool and all that, but for those of you who have not heard of Neale, nor did you catch his TV show Neale Bayly Rides on either Speed when it was around, or on YouTube now, then hopefully you’ll find this conversation quite interesting. For those of you that have heard of this self-styled 'philanthropic adventurer', you’ll hear the genesis behind Neale’s true passion in life, raising money for his Wellspring Foundation, a charity based around motorcycling that raises money for both an orphanage in Peru, and subsequently for another in Africa. If the mood takes you, you can contact Neale in one of several different ways below, and he’d love to hear from you. | Yamaha MT-09SP + Mike Magrann of punk band Channel 3 | 20 Oct 2021 | 01:04:20
Yamaha have now brought to the USA the SP version of their mighty MT-09. Although Yamaha has had SP versions of some of its models for a while now, this is the first time we’ve had the SP version of this model. Nic de Sena had a chance to ride it and tells us about the changes to the MT-09 SP and why it’s worth the extra coin. Regular listeners and readers of our various publications know our Editor Don Williams, however it is less likely that you know he is a major fan of independent live music, especially around the Los Angeles area. This week Don chats with Mike Magrann, lead singer of the punk band, Channel 3. Mike is a musician and a motorcycle guy too. Please visit Channel 3 on Spotify and other major music platforms. | Ohvale GP2 + George Barber Advanced Design Center | 13 Oct 2021 | 01:08:12
This week we have a couple of unusual chats for you. In the first segment, Senior Editor Nic de Sena talks to Arthur Coldwells about the new Ohvale GP2 mini bike. This is a full race machine that is scaled down to work on kart tracks, and yet it is designed to give a rider the full racebike experience. The Ohvale is not a toy and many, many professional racers use one to enhance their skillset and help with their training. The second segment comes to you from the recent Barber Vintage Festival, held annually at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds Alabama. George Barber himself was kind enough to spare a few minutes to chat about the new Advanced Design Center project that has been created on the top floor of the museum. Ably headed up by Brian Case of Motus Motorcycles fame, George Barber’s Design Center is there to encourage and explore design. He has generously outfitted the center with every type of creative and production tool you can imagine, including a couple of high end 3D printing machines, and full clay-modelling capability. Brian Case has already collaborated with ex-Ducati designer Pierre Terblanche and their first project—done remotely with Pierre residing at home in South Africa I might add—is a modern take on the exquisite early 90s Ducati Super Mono, designed at the time by Pierre. The Advanced Design Center is a heck of a project and George Barber is justifiably proud of it. It is there to encourage and explore design, especially with young people who perhaps do not have the means to really explore their ideas or turn them into reality. If you’re a designer with some ideas, please feel free to contact Brian Case at the Barber Advanced Design Center and talk to him about perhaps starting you off, or taking you to the next step in your career. His contact information is below.
| New Bike Announcements + John Tagley 2, Endurance Run | 06 Oct 2021 | 01:09:50 | |
To start this week off we’ve chosen to highlight some of the new machines announced in the past week. We’re coming up to new motorcycle season when the manufacturers roll out their new models and so Editor Don Williams takes us through the newly announced Suzuki GSX-S1000GT; the Yamaha YZF R6-GYTR; Triumph’s new Speed Triple 1200 RR; the Moto Guzzi V1000 Mandello, and last but not least, the new retro-styled Kawasaki Z650 RS. In the second segment, Associate Editor Teejay Adams follows up with bike builder and long distance rider John Tagley, who recently completed his 24-hour endurance run as he promised. John takes us through his various preparations and the effort it took to complete his personal mileage best. I won’t spoil the surprise, but I can tell you he managed to put on more miles in 24 hours than a lot of people do in one year. We hope you enjoy the show! Cholo Road King 24 hour challenge
| The eBicycle craze plus Kawasaki KLR650 | 29 Sep 2021 | 00:58:34 | |
This week we start off with a discussion between myself and Senior Editor Nic de Sena on the eBicycle craze that seems to be so hot right now. We’ve tried various eBicycles over the last year or so but the question still remains —are they pseudo-motorcycles; are they a gateway perhaps to motorcycling; and are they here to stay? In the following segment Don chats with Associate Editor Damon Powell about the new Kawasaki KLR650. The venerable KLR has been around since 1987 and Damon has ridden... well… all of them. I hope you enjoy this episode. As a reminder—please send your feedback on our Podcast—good or bad, and especially if you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear from you! | H-D Street Glide + MV Agusta with Luca Dovesi | 13 Mar 2024 | 01:13:45
Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends, brought to you by the Editors at Ultimate Motorcycling magazine. I’m Arthur Coldwells. This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. The new Street Glide has had a total revamp, from the new fairing and lights, to the engine and chassis, the Street Glide is now an even more serious bagger than before. Nic and Don take us through their experiences with the new machine and why they’re so pumped on the changes. In the second segment this week, recently appointed Head of MV Agusta North America, Luca Dovesi, chats with me about his vision for MV Agusta North America. Luca talks about the challenges he’s facing and how he plans to leverage KTM’s sales and distribution expertise to rebuild faith in the MV Agusta brand. We all know that the Italian manufacturer has always designed and produced the most exquisite and innovative motorcycles. But now, with the Pierer Mobility Group’s considerable commitment and horsepower behind them, the future just might be looking pretty bright for MV Agusta, and us, the consumers in America. So, from all of us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we hope you enjoy this episode! We love your feedback! Please comment or suggest:
| Adam from Iconic Auctions + Benelli Leoncino | 22 Sep 2021 | 01:14:43 | |
In the first segment this week I get to chat with one of the most energetic guys I’ve met in a long time. Adam Tromp is the Founding Partner at Iconic Motorbikes Auctions. Starting out as a reseller of collectible machines, Adam’s vision quickly turned Iconic into an online auction site ...plus a whole lot more. I don’t want to spoil the story, so I’ll let him tell it in his own words, but suffice it to say that in a very short period of time, he and his partners have managed to turn Iconic Motorbike Auctions into a collector motorcycle sales powerhouse. Where’s it all going…and what’s next, I wonder… In the second segment Editor Don Williams talks to me about the Benelli Leoncino. I’m not Italian and neither is he, so we’re not sure how it's pronounced, but suffice it to say that this Italian designed, Chinese built 500cc parallel-twin engined motorcycle actually holds several surprises—perhaps not what you’d think. I really enjoyed both of these topics, and I hope you do too! Repsol Honda CBR1000RR Charity Auction: Ride For Kids Benefit

| Triumph Speed Twin + Racer and Model Patricia Fernandez | 01 Sep 2021 | 01:22:58 | |
This week’s Podcast features speed in a couple of different forms. The first is where Nic de Sena gives us a quick look at Triumph’s new for 2022 Speed Twin. This retro styled machine falls neatly between the standard Bonnevilles, and the high performance Thruxton, so it’s a great performing urban rider as well as an excellent canyon carver too. Speed in the second segment is covered by professional road racer Patricia Fernandez; yes, she’s a very fast lady. This isn’t the typical road racer interview; Teejay chats with Patricia about the challenges facing a woman entering any male-dominated sport, and what it takes both physically and mentally to compete at the professional level. Patricia is a real road racer—that is, she competes not just on closed circuits, but also on the streets and country lanes of tracks in Ulster, Ireland and other European venues. It takes copious amounts of courage to race at 200 miles per hour on public roads, yet Patricia has the mental attitude and skill to do it well. She’s a beautiful woman inside and out and her story is well worth listening to! Instagram @lady_racer926

| New Aprilia Tuonos + Dave Donald | 11 Aug 2021 | 01:19:18 | |
This week we step it up a bit in the horsepower stakes, taking a look at Aprilia’s new Tuono for 2022. Nic de Sena had a chance to ride both models around the roads of Southern California. They’re a little different from each other for 2022, and the choice to re-focus one of the Tuonos is an interesting one. In the second segment I chat with an old friend of mine—Dave Donald. He’s been a friend of mine for… yikes… around 20 years—and he’s been riding for way longer than that. Dave has always been good for a laugh, and in this episode he doesn’t disappoint. So settle in, check out the chats, and please send us your feedback if you feel like it. I hope you enjoy this episode!

| Triumph Scrambler + Luca Dovesi, Head of MV Agusta USA | 06 Mar 2024 | 01:07:52 | |
This week, Editors Don Williams and Nic de Sena discuss the new Triumph Scrambler. This model uses the 1200 twin engine from the Bonneville range, and it in two distinct flavors, the X and the XE. Previous versions of the Scrambler were not very off-road focused, however Triumph has changed all that, and Nic had the opportunity to do a lot of pretty hard-core desert riding in his quest to find out how capable the Scrambler truly is once it goes off-pavement. In the second segment this week, I chat with the recently appointed Head of MV Agusta North America, Luca Dovesi. Luca started his career with Ducati in Thailand, and he then moved on to KTM Singapore where he was head of After Sales and Network Development. Three and a half years later, in January 2023, he was brought in by KTM from Singapore, to head up the re-organization and re-emergence of MV in the US. As Head of the premier brand of Italian performance motorcycles, Luca’s energy and enthusiasm came across very clearly as we talked about the progress made so far, and what KTM’s plans are for the storied Italian marque.
