#336 Mathew Scholtz14 Nov 202500:43:02

Mathew Scholtz is a happy guy. And he should be. The South African is coming off an 11-win season in which he earned his second successive MotoAmerica Supersport title, and the end result of those two years of domination have led him back to the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship for the 2026 season. A five-time MotoAmerica Superbike race winner, Scholtz will be aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1 with the team that helped him win the past two Supersport titles - Strack Racing. Scholtz knows that the task is a big one, but he's ready for the challenge as the team gets closer to starting its off-season testing program. We caught up with Scholtz from his home in Georgia to discuss the year that was and the year to come on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.

Motorcycle companies aren’t normally owned by engineers, but maybe they should be. Joe Karvonen is the owner of Krämer Motorcycles U.S.A. and he’s an engineer who learned his trade at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. He’s also a club racer and a track-day rider. A perfect fit for a company that manufactures track-day and race bikes, including the purpose-built Krämer APX-350 MA that is being raced in MotoAmerica’s new Parts Unlimited By Motul Talent Cup. We caught up with Karvonen at the recent Road America round to talk about Krämer, the Talent Cup, and much more on this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.

#236 Freddie Spencer01 Jun 202300:35:23

This week's podcast episode is a special one, and not just because we recorded it at Road America. Carruthers and Bice had the distinct pleasure of talking to motorcycle road racing legend Freddie Spencer, who is currently in charge of Royal Enfield's Build. Train. Race. program, which has its first round this weekend at Road America. Spencer is also Chairman of the Track Stewards in MotoGP, so we also discussed that important role. And, we couldn't let Spencer go without discussing his incredible racing career, highlighted by his double GP Championship in 1985 in both 250cc and 500cc. This is definitely a must-see episode, so check it out.

#235 Niccole Cox And Rick Hobbs26 May 202300:53:44

We have something a little different for this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice as we’ve brought in MotoAmerica Operations Manager Niccole Cox and Race Director Rick Hobbs to discuss the "controversial"  incidents at MotoAmerica’s Barber Motorsports Park round last weekend. We’ve seen and heard from the teams and riders involved and thought it appropriate to hear from those who made the decisions that have been criticized.

#234 Xavi Forés18 May 202300:28:58

Xavi Fores had a perfect beginning to his MotoAmerica Supersport season at Road Atlanta with victories in both races and a perfect 50-point tally at the top of the championship. This weekend, the Spaniard will do battle with America's best on an unfamiliar racetrack - Barber Motorsports Park, the site of what will be the first of the two "extended" Supersport races that will feature mandatory pit stops. Fores has plenty of experience on a variety of motorcycles on a variety of racetracks around the world and he also has endurance-racing experience. So don't expect him to struggle. We caught up with the likeable Fores for this week's Off Track With Carruthers And Bice podcast to talk about new MotoAmerica adventure.

#233 Gabriel Da Silva 09 May 202300:42:32

Gabriel Da Silva pulled off the surprise of the weekend in the 2021 MotoAmerica Championship finale when he won the Supersport race in a downpour at Barber Motorsports Park. Da Silva was the talk of the town after beating the man who had just won the Supersport title - Sean Dylan Kelly. But just as quickly as he arrived on the scene, Da Silva was gone and surprisingly not a part of the 2022 MotoAmerica season. Well, now he's back and will compete for the Stock 1000 Championship and the Superbike Cup on a Steel Commander Corp.-backed Kawasaki ZX-10R. We chatted with Da Silva about that wet Sunday in Alabama and his plans for the 2023 season on this week's edition of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.

Fortunately for the rest of us, Kevin Cameron has a passion for motorcycles and motorcycle racing because there's a good chance we'd know a lot less about the inner workings of motorcycles without him. Cameron has written books and regularly pens features and columns for Cycle World magazine that draw on his technical background from a lot more than just racing. And he does so in a way that allows even the most technically challenged among us to gain knowledge and understanding of the subject manner. Oh, did we mention that he has a degree in physics from Harvard? We chatted with Cameron for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice and found out that an hour isn't long enough.

Other than getting engaged to his now-fiancee Kaitlyn, Michael Gilbert had a pretty awful 2022. It started with a broken ankle in the MotoAmerica round at Road America and ended with the broken femur he suffered at Ridge Motorsports Park. The ankle should have ended his season and the femur most definitely did. But Gilbert is back,  the femur is healed and recent surgery on his ankle has fixed all that ailed him. It's hard to argue against Road America being one of the best racing facilities in the world. The track itself is long, it's fast, and it always produces close races. As for the rest of it... well, you'd have to look long and hard to find even a blade of grass that's out of place. A close third in the 2022 MotoAmerica SportbikeGear.com Junior Cup Championship with four victories and 11 total podium finishes out of 18 races, Kayla Yaakov had quite the season. But it turns out the 15-year-old wasn’t done yet. We caught up with Flinders this week for the newest episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice to chat about the seasons past and the one that lies ahead.

#204 Gus Rodio Presented By MANSCAPED29 Sep 202200:39:17

Gus Rodio scored 285 points in the 2022 MotoAmerica SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup Championship. Unfortunately for him, Cody Wyman also scored 285 points and won the title in a tiebreaker due to the fact that he had more victories. Still, it was a heck of a year for Rodio and his farewell to Junior Cup racing as he will move to the REV'IT! Twins Cup class next year. First things first, however, and Rodio will cross the Atlantic in a few weeks to take part in the British Superbike Series. We chatted with Rodio about his season and much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.

Sometimes the racetrack isn't the only place where things can get a bit hairy. Off Track With Carruthers And Bice welcomes new sponsor - Manscaped - to the show with a little help from newly crowned MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Josh Herrin. We also took the opportunity to chat with Herrin about his championship and the very real possibility that he will do double duty at our next round at Barber Motorsports Park, September 23-25, and ride both the Panigale V2 and the Panigale V4 R Superbike in the series finale.

#201 Tyler O'Hara & Travis Wyman08 Sep 202200:32:55

Since the 2022 Mission King Of The Baggers Championship will be decided on Sunday afternoon at New Jersey Motorsports Park, who better to have on this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice then the two men who will fight for that title – Travis Wyman and Tyler O’Hara. It’s Wyman and his H-D Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Road Glide who will start Sunday’s race with a three-point lead over O’Hara and his Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger but that three points might as well be zero because it’s basically a winner-take-all scenario. We brought Wyman and O’Hara together for the podcast and no blows were exchanged, showing that more than anything the two have a professional respect for each over that carries over to the racetrack. All we can say is, “Bring it on.”

Please excuse the technical issue on Sean's mic the first half the of the episode.

Former MotoAmerica Superbike rider and multi-time race winner Garrett Gerloff is now in his third year of racing in the  FIM Superbike World Championship and with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. After an impressive 2020 rookie season, 2021 was a sophomore struggle for Gerloff. The Texan has also had more than his fair share of adversity in 2022, but he loves his team, and he maintains a hopeful outlook on his future in the World Championship, while constantly training, working on his nutrition, and keeping his body and mind sharp. As Paul and Sean present their 200th episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice, Gerloff, who has the distinction of being their most popular guest to date, joins the celebration. Colin Barton is the colorful, larger-than-life motorcycle racing fanatic who is the man behind BARTCON Racing, which currently competes in the MotoAmerica REV'IT! Oh, and Barton is as Irish as they come as you'll no doubt notice when you start listening to this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice. Listen in on how Barton got here, why he's here and why he's not going anywhere.  Colorful language included.

#198 Anthony Mazziotto & Jody Barry18 Aug 202200:35:29

Anthony Mazziotto and Jody Barry are separated by just one point in the battle for the MotoAmerica REV’IT! Twins Cup Championship going into this weekend’s round at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. So, in classic “hold my beer and watch this” fashion, Carruthers and Bice came up with the idea of having the two on the same podcast, separated by mere inches and on video. What could be better for podcast downloads than a good old-fashioned brawl between bitter rivals. Well, as it turns out, there wasn’t a brawl on this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice. Just a nice conversation between two young men trying to win the same championship.

#197 Richard Stanboli11 Aug 202201:07:12

In 2020, Attack Performance took over the running of Yamaha’s "factory" team in the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship. The results have been impressive. How’s this? Forty-two wins in 54 races for a 77 percent win ratio as of the recent round at Brainerd International Raceway. The man behind the team, known as Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing, is Richard Stanboli. Thus, the team’s success shouldn’t come as a surprise based on his past work. With defending series champion Jake Gagne now 13 points behind with six races to go in the 2022 title chase, there’s no panic in either Gagne or Stanboli or anyone else in the team. It’s business as usual and they believe as a group that they will be in the fight to the bitter end and come out on top. We caught up with Stanboli for a tell-it-like-it-is, pull-no-punches sit-down session for this week’s edition of the Off Track With Carruthers And Bice podcast.

#196 Rocco Landers04 Aug 202200:49:40

We sometimes forget that Rocco Landers is just 17 years old. Perhaps that stems from the fact that the "kid" has been winning in the MotoAmerica Championship since he was 14. And he's done quite well, thank you very much. How well? How about 40 total victories: 29 in Junior Cup, nine in Twins Cup and, thanks to his two wins at Brainerd International Raceway last weekend, two in Supersport. Those wins earned him two Junior Cup Championships and a Twins Cup title before he departed for the intense battles of the  Supersport class. We caught up with Landers for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice to discuss this year, the past and the future.

#195 Cameron Petersen28 Jul 202200:33:31

You can hear it when he speaks, and you can see it in his smile: Cameron Petersen is truly living his best life in 2022. Now a factory rider on inarguably the best team in the MotoAmerica paddock, the Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha squad, Petersen is most definitely living the dream. Currently third in the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship with eight podiums, including a victory at Road America, it’s easy to see why Petersen is a happy dude. Especially when you know the hardships he’s endured to get where he is today. We caught up with the smiling South African for this week’s Off Track With Carruthers And Bice to talk about this season and much more.

#194 Wayne Rainey21 Jul 202201:00:43

Three-time 500cc World Champion and MotoAmerica Wayne Rainey really needs no introduction so we'll jump right into it. The boys were fortunate enough to tie Rainey down for this week's episode of the Off Track With Carruthers And Bice podcast  with a not-so-quick chat in which Rainey talked about his recent trip to England for the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, his ride on his 1992 World Championship-winning Yamaha YZR500, MotoAmerica's growth, and much more. Give it a listen.
