| "My baby was 7 months old when I was diagnosed with cancer" | Lessons every mother needs to hear | 14 Sep 2023 | 00:44:03 | |
Welcome to the motherkind podcast, which is going to help you feel more confident and less alone in the wild roller coaster that is modern motherhood.
My guest this week is Georgie Crawford. Georgie was just at the end of her maternity leave when she first discovered a lump in her breast and what followed was a roller coaster journey of self-discovery. Georgie says that for the first time in her life, she learned how to value herself and her needs.
Thankfully she fully recovered and is now about to become a mother again post-cancer, this time with a surrogate.
Listen to learn:
The mindset shift that helped Georgie finally learn to accept and ask for help
How her garden trees made her realise she was wrong about herself
How to ask yourself 'Am I on the dancefloor or the balcony' of life
How to finally stop beating yourself up and notice all that is good in your life
I really loved this episode and loved chatting to Georgie, she gave me SO much perspective and plugged me right back into what is really important in life.

| MOMENT | Understanding matrescence will change your perspective forever with Lucy Jones | 11 Sep 2023 | 00:10:16 | |
Welcome back to Motherkind Moment. Moment is your place on a Monday for calm and connection and maybe even a shift in perspective before the week ahead.
This week I speak with Lucy Jones. She is an investigative journalist, award-winning author and has just written a new book called Matrescence.
Matresence is one of my favourite words and subjects ever. It describes the process of becoming a mother - the confusing discombobulating cocktail of emotions that happens when we transition from woman to mother. All the physical, emotional and spiritual changes. A bit like the transition from teenager to adult.
I hope you enjoy this moment episode.

| Re-release MOMENT | How to help our children deal with their feelings with Rupert Spira | 31 Jul 2023 | 00:10:52 | |
Hi everyone and welcome back to The Motherkind Podcast. I’m so happy you’re here. This moment episode is a re-release with writer and spiritual teacher Rupert Spira.
Rupert said something I can’t stop thinking about since our recording, he said that:
The most important thing we can do as parents is to model how we handle emotions and that that's way more powerful than anything we could ever teach or say.
I think you’re going to really enjoy this moment episode. As always we continue the conversation over on Instagram @zoeblaskey

| Leading GP: Dr Zoe Williams “I really struggled” - We NEED to rethink how we care for mothers | 27 Jul 2023 | 00:51:30 | |
Welcome to this week’s episode on the Motherkind Podcast, which features the incredible Dr Zoe Williams. She is a GP, Author and This Morning’s resident doctor.
I absolutely loved this episode because Dr Zoe was so honest about her own experiences of motherhood, how lonely she felt in those early months and why she found herself thinking I just can't do this.
We also talked about:
How she thinks we need to change how we care for Women's Health in postpartum
Tips on how to advocate for our own health and get the most out of a doctor's appointment whether that's for us or our children
Her incredible new book for teenage girls which I absolutely love
I hope you love this episode as much as I do. If you do love it, please share it with your mum friends or pop it in your group chats.

| Mid life mothering: you're not crazy, it's crazy hard with Lorraine Candy | 20 Jul 2023 | 00:52:38 | |
Welcome to this week's episode on the Motherkind Podcast, where we chat with the incredible podcaster and author Lorraine Candy.
She is a journalist for pretty much all my favourite magazines, including Sunday Times Style, and she recently gave it all up to create her podcast – Postcards from Midlife which celebrates and supports midlife women. She's also written a book about it which is absolutely brilliant.
This episode is about:
Why we need to understand better the changes that happen to us hormonally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Why we HAVE to commit to self-care and the importance of showing it to our children
The surprising mental changes we go through during the peri, pre and menopause stage
Ultimately, Lorraine says we shouldn't wait for these changes to come as a surprise; instead, we should be prepared so we can thrive instead of just survive.
I hope you love this episode.

| MOMENT | Why journalling is vital for every mother and how to do it with Cathy Rentzenbrink | 17 Jul 2023 | 00:09:33 | |
Welcome to this week's moment episode of the Motherkind podcast. I am so happy you are here. Thank you for pressing play and listening.
This week features a clip from my episode with Cathy Rentzenbrink, who is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller The Last Act of Love. She also has a new book out called Write It All Down: How to Put Your Life on the Page.
Cathy is so poignant in how she reflects on her journey as a mother.
Yes, this episode is about writing and journaling and its profound power to support us as we wind through this path of motherhood, but it is mostly about self-compassion.
I hope you listen to it and it helps you remember to connect to that kinder voice within you. The part of you that knows you are ok, it’s ok, and it’s all going to be ok.

Motherkind Moment is your place for calm and connection and a shift in perspective before the week ahead.
In this week's Moment we hear author and transformational coach, Bethany Webster, discuss the Mother Wound. She guides us through the set of limiting beliefs inherited from our mothers that constitute the Mother Wound, why understanding it can heal intergenerational patterns, and how mothering the inner child within can make us more emotionally present with our own children.

| The Postpartum Doctor: why a hustle mindset will break you in motherhood and what to do instead | 06 Jul 2023 | 00:46:57 | |
This week's episode is with Dr Serena Rosa, a doctorally prepared women's health nurse practitioner and founder of postpartum Dr. Her mission is to change the narrative around postpartum and motherhood- showcasing that it can be beautiful, expansive, transformational, and healing.
In this episode, we discuss postpartum because that is Dr. Serena's specialism. However, this episode goes beyond that, and we chat about:
The pressures we put on ourselves as mothers and how to be much much kinder to ourselves.
Where does the drive to 'do it all' to be productive, and why do we find that drive so hard to reconcile once we become mothers?
The incredible brain changes that happen to us when we become mothers and how it explains why we feel so drastically different.
I really hope you love it – it's a great one to listen to, even if you're beyond the postpartum days of motherhood.

| Every mother needs to hear these words with Donna Lancaster | 29 Jun 2023 | 00:55:57 | |
***Trigger Warning*** We discuss graphic intrusive thoughts, so if hearing that experience might be more harmful than connecting for you, please skip that bit. It's about 10 minutes in.
This week we have the incredible Donna Lancaster back on the show. You love her first episode, so I hope you'll love this one even more.
Donna has worked as a coach, a group facilitator and a therapist for more than 30 years - I cannot tell you how much I respect Donna and her work.
This is one of those episodes it's going to make you think, it's going to make you cry, and it's going to put a lot in perspective.
Donna talks about:
- Forgiving herself for how she was in the early years of her children's lives.
- How much she struggled in those early days, including experiencing some pretty graphic intrusive thoughts
- How allowing herself to grieve unlocked so much healing and forgiveness
I'm so excited for you to hear this one. Please share this episode with any mums you know who might be struggling and need Donna's wise, warm words of hope and compassion.

| Motherkind community: Kelly's story | 23 Jun 2023 | 00:28:52 | |
Welcome to our community episode, where we feature mothers from our community to talk about their highs, lows, challenges and everything in between in motherhood.
This week we chatted to Kelly. Kelly is a mum of two, and she shares in this episode:
- How challenging she found the transition to motherhood
- How perfectionist and critical she was self
- How when she connected to her own childhood to what was going on for her when she was younger that she was able to transform everything in her motherhood
Kelly is incredibly honest in this episode, and I appreciate her vulnerability.
Kelly is also really special to Motherkind, as I coached Kelly a few years ago, and she found the experience so transformative that she quit her corporate job and retrained as a coach herself. Now Kelly is the first-ever Morhwekind associate coach, which is really exciting. You can book with her here: https://www.motherkind.co/kelly-schedule-1-1

| Matrescence: the word we all need with Lucy Jones | 22 Jun 2023 | 00:42:15 | |
Welcome to this week’s episode with Lucy Jones.
Listen to hear about:
- What matresence means and its anthropological roots
- Our position as a mother in today’s society and how it’s geared to be against mothers
- Why we need more support in society and Lucy’s thoughts on how we can receive that
If only all mothers knew this word, I think we would have found it so much easier to be kind to ourselves, knowing it’s meant to be a bumpy journey.

| Father's Day special with Bode Aboderin | 15 Jun 2023 | 00:53:24 | |
Hi everyone, and welcome to this special Father's Day. It's Father’s Day here in the UK on the 18th of June, and I am so excited to share this episode with you.
My guest is Bodé Aboderin (AKA Papa B). He is a writer, speaker, businessman, and stay-at-home dad. His wife is the amazing Candice Brathwaite, who has also been on the podcast.
Listen to hear about:
What he used to believe being a man meant: earning more, not showing his feelings and having this impenetrable mask of masculinity.
How hitting rock bottom led to a breakthrough of totally transforming how he sees his role as a man and a father.
This episode is incredibly powerful, and I hope it's one you will share with the men in your life. I sent it to my husband, Guy, within minutes of recording - urging him in all caps to please listen.
I really hope you enjoy this father's day special episode.
