MGPC Episode 85 "Virginia Shootout" Wrap-up &...Where's D-ran??!!24 Aug 202402:01:33

The Geeks hit the road and hit up the IPMS Roanoke Valley’s “Virginia Shootout” show.

Nothing beats a quick weekend trip with your modeling buddies, especially when a show is happening, the kit deals are HOT and the Mexican food is muy bueno! Toss in a few beers with friends and it’s practically impossible to top for a real Modelgeek!

In this episode we recap our trip to southwestern Virginia and the Virginia Shootout. We had a great time, saw some great models and made some awesome deals on kits that we’d each been looking for. We sit down with show Co-Chair Greg Clower and he gives us a history of the show and the club.

D-ran is still MIA so we play shorthanded once again…anyone wanna take that 5th seat???

We would like to thank all you listeners out there for the continued support you have given the show. We hope to see you out and about as we hit more of the shows coming up this busy 2024 If you happen to see us at a show, set up at our table, come on over and say hello, we may even put you in front of the mic!

El Presidenté mentions Reith Creations (P5M-1 Marlin conversion) in the episode, and here is a link to their page:

ModelGeeks Episode 52 "The Best Kits That Never Were"18 Mar 202302:14:40

Welcome to Episode 52 of The ModelGeeks Podcast.

In this episode we discuss the frustrations of hoping for a version of a nice kit subject, that simply never materializes. Read on…

We’ve all built kits or seen kits hit the streets that we automatically think “Oh man, I hope they do the X version of that!” …only for that particular version of a kit to never materialize…for what seems to be unfathomable reasons!

Right now my favorite headscratcher to this conundrum is the RF-8 Crusader. Building the Hasegawa F-8E at the moment, you can see where the thought was there to perhaps do the Recconn version…and why wouldn’t they, as historical an aircraft that it has been?! But, to no avail. We are left with only aftermarket conversions and dreams.

In an era when we keep seeing releases of subjects we’ve all only dreamt of, there are still several subjects out there waiting to piggyback on to the success of their predecessors.

Of course, we’ll also discuss what we are In Work on, give you a run-down of what’s new out there in kits, aftermarket, upcoming shows, and other news around the hobby.

We would like to thank all the listeners for the continued support you have given the show. We hope to see you out and about as we hit some of the shows. ModelGeeks Episode 44; "Museum or real life? Lets not get stupid folks, there's a difference"29 Oct 202201:55:07

Welcome to Episode 44 of The ModelGeeks Podcast. In this episode, we get into discussing individual approaches to finish and weathering. ModelGeeks Episode 40; "Pushing through a problem/finding solutions"26 Aug 202201:49:28

Welcome to Episode 40 of The ModelGeeks Podcast. In this episode we’ll discuss what’s going on around the hobby we love, and in our Main Topic we’ll cover overcoming difficulties in a build. Problem solving is one aspect of modeling I happen to enjoy, it gets you thinking ahead of the build, sharpens the ol’ noggin’, and gives you a feeling of accomplishment…well, if things go well that is.

D-ran and Nemo just returned from Roanoke VA where they attended the Roanoke Valley IPMS Virginia Shootout on Saturday. They’ll give a recap of the show and let us know how they did!

The “Post Nats” mojo is still burning strong and each of us will talk about what’s on our bench, and what kits or accessories we’ve picked up.

We’ll also give a run-down of what’s new out there in kits, aftermarket, upcoming shows, and other news around the hobby. We would like to thank all the listeners for the continued support you have given the show. We hope to see you out and about as we hit some of the shows. MGPC Episode 81 "We Got a Deadline People!!"29 Jun 202401:20:26

Welcome to Episode 81 of The Modelgeeks Podcast!  In this episode, we kick off with what we are in work on, what new items are out there, and what we have picked up lately. We hope to see you out and about as we hit more of the shows coming up this busy 2024 as well as at the Nats in Madison Wisconsin.
