At times if feels as if,
Mountains of thoughts exist.
You’re stuck inside their walls,
Their energy slowly sprawls.
PAUSE
Perhaps there are some times,
When fear enters your mind.
Anxiety starts to spread,
Worry takes over your head.
PAUSE
Or maybe you feel some doubt,
Questioning what life’s about.
Your sense of self feels weak,
Can’t find the peace you seek.
PAUSE
Now pause, and breathe in,
And be kind to your mind.
Pause, and begin,
To let it all unwind.
LONG PAUSE
Feel your arms embrace,
Your entire self with grace.
Feel the thoughts release,
Open more space for peace.
PAUSE
The swirl of thoughts inside,
Will no longer collide.
Your rhythmic breath gives calm,
To the raging mental storm.
PAUSE
Every inhale clears,
The heaviness disappears.
Every exhale calms,
Surrender to loving arms.
PAUSE
Be kind to your mind,
Let yourself unwind.
Feel the thoughts clear,
Love surrounds you, my dear.
LONG PAUSE
The judgements, the noise,
Unkind thoughts that annoy,
They don’t have to stay,
Let them all fade away.
PAUSE
Now feel the kindness spread,
All throughout your head.
You feel clear and light,
Grounded, calm and bright.

The deeper your breath goes,
More peace spreads and grows.
You are whole and aligned,

Bring your awareness inside,
going deep into yourself,
and becoming aware
of the present moment.
LONG PAUSE
Now, allow yourself to notice
any stress in your body,
any area in need of relaxation.
Take a moment,
and gently breathe
into those areas.
LONG PAUSE
Take another deep breath,
and feel the lightness
of your body,
and the cushiness
of your body in your bed.
Keep breathing in
deep relaxation.
LONG PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
faintly hearing the first few notes
of a symphony.
Two gentle violins
serenading you
like nightingales.
PAUSE
The violins play dreamily,
their music
quietly floating
through your room.
PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
feeling lifted by the music,
as if it gently floated under you,
and raised you into the air.
PAUSE
As the violins play,
feel your body drifting
with their sounds,
in, out, and around
your room.
PAUSE
So, imagine now,
a flute joins the violins.
and the flute is bright
and airy in its sound,
and brings joy
to your soul.
PAUSE
The flute gently trills,
and blending with the violins,
pure poetry evolves,
as the violins call out,
and the flute answers.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
you feel the flute all around you,
Sailing in and out through your being,
The joy of the flute
synchs in you.
PAUSE
While floating in the air
with these beautiful sounds,
a new sound calls to you,
one with a rich, soft timbre:
The French horn.
PAUSE
The horn adds a buoyancy
to your floating–
a gentle drifting back and forth,
and up and down.
Allow its richness to
help you feel secure,
and balanced,
as it effortlessly
blends with the flute and violins.
PAUSE
As you delicately waft through the air,
the orchestral sounds envelope you,
Filling your soul with joy and wonder.
PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
that a piano joins the orchestra.
The piano flavors the
already-beautiful sounds
by adding layers of
sweet harmonics,
PAUSE
The notes of the piano,
play inside and around you,
filling you with self-confidence
and positivity.
PAUSE
Take a deep breath,
and let yourself synergize
with the orchestra.
Allow it to become you,
and you it.
PAUSE
And, as you feel that fluid music
all through you,
a sense of gratitude for this
orchestral odyssey,
comes over you.
For each instrument brings a gift.
PAUSE
Breathe in the violin.
Its magic gift to you
is its dreaminess.
Breathe in the flute.
Its magic gift to you
is its joyfulness.
Breathe in the French horn.
Its magic gift to you
is its balance.
Breathe in the piano.
Its magic gift to you
is its positivity.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
the instruments softly fade into the background,
and you are placed gently
back in your bed.
As you lie there,
drifting peacefully to sleep,
you know you are an orchestra
of life.

Gather yourself into your center.
Breathe,
And let warmth and comfort
Wrap around you.
LONG PAUSE
Imagine pushing the pause button,
and holding precious
this time of rest and peace.
Stay with it.
LONG PAUSE
And while holding onto
to this precious rest and peace,
imagine a magical portal
opening before you.
PAUSE
As you gaze at the portal,
you realize it’s beckoning you
to come into it,
to take a journey.
And with absolute comfort and security,
you venture forth
into the portal.
PAUSE
While in the portal,
beautiful colored lights illuminate
all around you.
Reds and Pinks,
Greens and Yellows,
Blues and Purples,
all twinkle like stars
on each side of you.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
the lights clear,
and you find yourself
in an art room
with crayons
and pictures to color.
PAUSE
Without a thought,
you pick up a crayon
and begin coloring
an image of a mandala.
With each gentle stroke,
a wave of peace and relaxation
washes over you.
And with it comes
a sense of connectedness
to something bigger.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
the mandala rises into the air
and begins spinning.
All the magical colors
spill into the air,
spreading deeper peace
and relaxation everywhere.
Seconds later,
you find yourself
back in the portal.
PAUSE
The beautiful lights
sparkle again,
and then fade
as you find yourself
in a room
lit with candles.
PAUSE
You land gently in a chair,
and begin gazing
into the soft, gauzy flicker
of a large white candle.
With each breath,
a calm and connectedness to Spirit
come over you.
You are part of the Infinite.
PAUSE
As you bask in the infinite peace,
you feel yourself going on and on and on
in total calm and comfort,
total relaxation.
PAUSE
Slowly, the lights of the portal return,
and you feel yourself gently being moved
to somewhere else.
PAUSE
Moments later,
you’re standing on a beach at midnight,
with a stunning blue moon hanging low
in the sky,
and waves that wash against the shore,
in a hypnotic rhythm.
Millions of stars twinkle above you.
PAUSE
And now, you feel yourself a part of everything.
You feel the sea in you,
and you in the sea.
You feel the moonlight in you,
and you in the moonlight.
You feel the stars in you,
and you in the stars.
Everything is a part of you.
You are part of everything.
It’s a multi-dimensional feeling
of peace and wonder.
PAUSE
The twinkling lights of the portal return,
and this time,
the portal takes you home
to your bed,
with a steaming cup of tea
and a fluffy pillow behind you.
PAUSE
As you sit sipping tea,
you look around,
and nothing is the same.
Nothing is separate from you.
It is all connected energy.
And, as you finish your tea,
and sink deep into your bed,
there is only peace in and around you.
A calm, relaxing peace
that you carry everywhere.

Invite your body to settle,
And your mind to calm,
And find your breath.

PAUSE
In,
And out.
Breathing a little deeper with every inhale.
And a little longer with every exhale.
PAUSE
Surrender to the rhythm of your breathing,
Easing into its natural cycle,
Letting it relax you,
And calm you.
LONG PAUSE
Now, see if you can imagine that you are in a secluded oasis,
A lush green sanctuary surrounded by gently flowing streams
And towering palm trees swaying in a warm breeze.
PAUSE
The air is fresh and clean, lightly scented with the sweet
fragrance of tropical flowers.
You can feel the warmth of the sun's radiant rays
cascading down upon you,
soothing your muscles and melting away any tension
or stress you may be holding.
PAUSE
You make your way over to a large, cushioned lounge chair,
and ease yourself down onto the plush surface,
sinking into the soft material.
As you get comfortable, you notice a small waterfall nearby,
the soothing trickle of the running water creating a tranquil
ambient soundtrack.
Close your eyes and focus on the sound,
allowing it to wash over you in calming rhythmic waves.
LONG PAUSE
Now feel the sensation of the warm sun on your skin.
Bask in the radiant heat, allowing the light to penetrate into you,
recharging your mind and body.
Sense the solar energy revitalizing you, filling you with a
profound sense of peace and serenity.
You are safe here in this sanctuary, free from worry or fear.
PAUSE
A gentle breeze skims across your face,
carrying the intoxicating floral scents of lush
blossoms surrounding the oasis.
Breathe in their calming aromas, envision
their vibrant colors of deep reds, rich purples, sunny yellows.
Their beauty and fragrance are for your enjoyment in this sacred space.
PAUSE
Sink deeper into the cushions of the chair,
relishing the comfort and support cradling your body.
Feel the muscles in your face grow smooth,
your jaw releasing any lingering tension you've
been unconsciously carrying.
Scan your body for any other areas of tightness
and breathe into those spaces, allowing them to let go and soften.
PAUSE
You are at total peace here in this oasis.
You can see roots beginning to spread out from you,
grounding you to this nurturing place.
PAUSE
You are strong, secure, centered.
The sounds, sights, and sensations of this sanctuary saturate you,
restoring your balance and clarity of mind.

Breathe deeper, letting your breath
Surrender you even further into the calm of oasis.
You are a part of it.
And it is a part of you.

As breath brings you inside.
Slow its rhythm down,
Gathering all the air provides.

Feel your body melt,

It anchors you in the now.
Then feel the space within you,

The intention of this meditation is to give you an opportunity to practice letting go of the avalanche of thoughts in your mind, so you can get out of your head and into the beauty of this present moment.
So let yourself settle into a comfortable position,
Softening your body,
And finding the rhythm of your breath.
Easy, slow breathes, in and out.
Cool on the inhale,
Warm on the exhale.
Follow the air into your belly,
Stretching out as you breathe in,
Contracting as you breathe out.
Breathe…

Your mind naturally wants to play,
Flashing visions, stories and speckles of thoughts across its walls.
Just notice as they come up,
Observing them calmly from afar,
Letting them all play in front of you,
And not in you.
PAUSE…
Notice that they are there.
And you are here.
Separate.
You are not those thoughts.
Let that truth infuse you with a warm confidence,
Knowing you can get out of your head,
And into the moment.
PAUSE…
Wiggle your fingers gently,
Letting the soft movement pull you into your body.
You are here.
PAUSE…
Let your lips spread into a smile across your face,
Feeling the stretch of your skin and the tightening of your cheeks.
And then relax your face, feeling the warm waves of relaxation.
You are here.
In this body.
In this moment.
Nothing that is flying around in your head matters right now.
Be here.

Breathe,
And tune into the sounds around you.
Your mind wants to label them, categorize them, explain them,
But instead, just listen,
With your body,
Your heart,
Your soul.
Listen to the orchestra of sounds around you.

Invite yourself to settle,
As you ease into your bed.

Allow your body to move and adjust,
Until you’ve found that perfect, sleeping position.

Filling your entire body with cleansing air.
And then exhale, releasing all that air,
All that tension,
As your body sinks further into bed.

I choose to think positive and empowering thoughts.

I forgive myself for any mistakes and move forward.
I accept myself completely with compassion.
I release any anxiety and negative emotions.

I deserve to be happy, healthy and peaceful.

How do you feel when you wake up in the morning lately?
I’ve noticed that I wake up under the weight of a never-ending task list. I spend my mornings in my head, organizing, prioritizing and putting life’s puzzle pieces together.
I get a lot of satisfaction out of this. (Anyone else’s brain work like tetris?)
But, I’ve noticed that there’s an undercurrent of anxiety here. Kinda like, if I keep checking things off this task list, “it” won’t get me. I can keep “it” at bay.
What is “it?”
I’m not too sure yet.
But what I do know is that there are a lot of moving parts in my life right now. (You too?). Many big things in transition. So, perhaps my tetris brain feels some sense of control as all these things are on the move.
Perhaps this in and of itself is fine, but what about the underlying worry?
It’s like I’m watching an artist painting a mural and I’m unsure of how the big, red stroke of color she just made fits in. I can’t see the larger picture.
So I worry.
I let anxiety pool up inside my mind and body and fret about each brushstroke. I seem to forget that I can just sit back and trust that the artist will create the most magical masterpiece.
That I can surrender to the flow of the process.
And I forget that I am the artist.
And that I am creating this vision with the Universe.
Can you think of an area of your life where you are in the energy of worry lately?
What are you always trying to control? What are you always trying to organize?
Now breathe…
How can you invite in more trust?
How can you loosen your grip on all the details?
Trust the process.
Trust yourself.
Trust the flow.
Trust in the divine purpose of it all.
And how does that make you feel?
Today I’m making a few declarations, commitments to myself, and you’re welcome to join in with me if it feels right for you.
I choose to pause each morning and become aware of my energy.
I choose to remember who I am, so that I may move through my day aligned.
I choose to follow what feels good, and trust my intuition.
I choose to remember that I am the painter…the creator of my life. Each color, each brushstroke is up to me.
I choose to let go of the energy of worry and surrender to the energy of trust.

I know it feels heavy right now, beautiful.
I know your mind is spinning,
And your heart is racing.
But it’s time to come inside and uncover the peace inside of you,
And drink deeply from its calming, soothing waters.
So close your eyes,
And bring your attention inside.
Let your mind shift from all those thoughts onto the slow motion of your body.
The rising and falling of your belly,
The air flowing in and out of your nose.
The feeling of the air touching your skin.
And see if you can slow it all down just a bit,
Expanding your breathing,

There will always be parts of your life that are unsettling.
There will always be moments when there is distance between what you desire and what is.
Anxiety arises when we worry about the future, or obsess about the past, and want to change it, want to control it…
But can’t.
So we worry. We stress. We let the anxiety creep in and overtake us until we are saturated with its heaviness.
And the quickest and most powerful way to dissolve it all,
Is to shift our minds and hearts and souls into the present moment.
Where no anxiety can exist.

Deeply aware of yourself in this moment.
Aware of your body’s position,
Aware of your breathing,
Aware of your space.

And let it find its calming, rhythmic beat.

You can calm down your fears.

When your body is hurt or in pain,
When its ecosystem is not working at is should,
When your health is suffering,
Come inside,

Take a deep breath, beautiful,
And call your attention inside.
And let yourself observe what’s here.
PAUSE…
Like a swarm of bees,
The chaos is loud and feels tumultuous.
Little pieces of energy darting in every direction.
The thoughts,
The emotions,
The splitting of your energy trying to dance with it all.
PAUSE…
But step back a bit, dear one,
And know that you are not the chaos.
You can step away from the swarm,
And allow it to continue its movements without you.
You can choose to stop dancing erratically,
And instead,
Surrender to the calm.
The calm will first saturate your body,
Then your mind,
And finally, your soul,
So you’re drenched in its blue waters.
And because you allow it to do so,
It will then emit its calming waves out from you,
Calming the chaos from which you came.
PAUSE…
The bees will depart,
The space will clear,
The noise will dissolve.
And then,
All that exists is the calm within you,
And the calm around you,
Wrapping you up in its blankets and carrying you off into the night.
LONG PAUSE…
So let yourself inhale a bit deeper,
And exhale a little longer,
Feeling your body slow down,
Feeling your mind slow down,
And letting your soul relax.
PAUSE…
Feel the blankets of calm covering you,
As you release the tension from your face,
Lower your shoulders,
Open your chest,
Soften your belly.
PAUSE...
Feel the calm cascading down your spine,
From your neck,
All the way down your back,
Melting you deeper into your bed.
PAUSE…
Feel your hips release,
Your thighs relax,
Your right leg grow heavy,
And your left leg melt.
PAUSE…
Let your toes release any energy left in your body,
As your feet soften.
LONG PAUSE…
Sleep now,
As your body is wrapped in the blankets of calm.
As your mind swims in the sea of silence,
And your soul is one with deep peace.

Invite yourself to settle,
And sink into your breath.
Ease into its slow, gentle rhythm.
In and out,
Nice and easy.
Your chest expanding and contracting,
As it relaxes you,
And calms you.
PAUSE
Feel your body melt,
As all those little pieces of tension, noise or heaviness,
Float away with your breath.
And allow yourself to sink further into peace.
LONG PAUSE
Notice the space in your mind.
Alive and moving with details,
Invisible tasks,
Plans and worries.
PAUSE
Just observe them all buzzing around,
Lit up with energy,
Wanting to move,
Creating energy and heat as they buzz.
Just watch them all,
Without judgment,
Without needing to make sense of it,
Just observe.

Now take a deep breath…
And as you do,
Imagine all these little buzzing thoughts in your head,
Slowing down,
And softening,
Melting into your buttery breath,
And leaving your body on your exhale,
Their buzz, their energy completely gone.

Breathe in deep again,
Melting even more buzzing thoughts,
Into the rivers of air moving through you,
Extracting them from your body on your long breath out.
Breathe…
Over and over again for a few more deep breaths,
Using your breath to gather your thoughts,
And release them from you.

Now see if you can feel,
The layers of thickness on your skin.
The noise,
The demands,
The responsibilities,
The touches.
They’re all piled upon you,
Making you feel crowded,
Stuck,
And weighed down.
PAUSE
Feel the heaviness,
Feel the layers,
As they warm and gently vibrate,
Letting you know they are separate from you,
And ready to release.
PAUSE
Little sips of air aren’t enough to sustain,
Expansive breaths will dissolve the pain.
PAUSE
So breathe in deep,
Letting your healing breath,
Reach into every part of your body.
Hold your breath for just a few moments…
And then exhale,
And as you do, feel those layers let go,
And release,
Disappearing as they drift away in the wind.
PAUSE
Another deep breath,
Inviting your breath to fill you once again.
Hold it for just a few seconds…
And then release,
Letting your breath release even more layers.
PAUSE
Now ease into the natural rhythm of your breath once again,
And continue to feel those layers of heaviness peel away and release,
One exhale at a time.
Breathe in and gather,
Breathe out and release.
Breathe in and clear,
Breathe out and release.
Feeling lighter,
And lighter,
With each circular breath.

Space around your body,
Stillness in your mind.

Hey, it’s Katie and I’m here for a mid-month check in. How are you? How’s your month coming along? How’s your mental health?
We’re well into Mental Health Awareness Month and I hope you’ve really been enjoying all the bonus and guest meditations we’ve been providing across the network. The team and I have been working hard to make sure you have a wide variety of meditations and voices to support you!
I’m sharing honestly today about why we need to “slow down to speed up” and what that’s actually looked like for me this month (single mommying with hubs out of town, end of school extra activities and moving!). It ain’t been pretty y'all.
But I’m sharing because we all have these heavy seasons and I’ll walk you through what worked for me to lighten the load and helped me slow down, all in the name of preserving my mental health.
I also share a poem/meditation I wrote recently called “A Million Little Reasons” that I hope really speaks to your heart.

Gently silence your mind,
and focus on the peaceful quiet
blanketing you and your world.

Stay in the present.
The calm.
The quiet of the night.
Allow yourself to relax
into it.

Now, breathe,
And let your mind
Drift along,
with thoughts
moving through
like rolling waves.

Now, imagine if you can,
standing in a lighthouse,
with a world of velvety black
all around the lighthouse.

It’s nighttime.
and so quiet,
that the night hums,
and the murmur
of the waves
echoes through the tower.
They are the only sounds,
and they bring peace to you.

Standing at the top of the lighthouse,
you gaze out into the sea,
a sea dark and mysterious,
like black obsidian.

But through the darkness,
a soft beam of light,
crosses the water
in a circular motion,
exposing the secret majesty
of the sea.

Now, imagine, if you can,
watching the light,
as it sets small sections of water aglow.
Just for a few seconds,
before it moves on.
PAUSE
You count the seconds
between the dark and light,
hypnotized by its beauty.
You know
that there is magic in both.
power in both
magnificence in both.
Dark
and
Light.
PAUSE
Imagine now,
Listening to sea,
As its waves
Flow up and down.
Up and down.
Up and down.
PAUSE
Then the sea whispers to you,
In between each roll of her waves.
What does she say?
PAUSE
After a moment,
you hear the sea singing,
ever so quietly.
It’s like a
lullaby
softly rolls in you.
PAUSE
You gaze out into
The watery blackness again.
This time, though,
You feel gratitude with your peace.
Gratitude because your lighthouse shines
to help others.
PAUSE
After a while,
your light is not the only light
that illuminates the water of midnight.
Now, a luminous full moon
bursts forth from the clouds
that had tried to cover it.
PAUSE
As the lighthouse beam
cuts across the water,
it meets with the silvery glow
of the moon,
and for a moment,
the sea illuminates like tinsel.
PAUSE
For hours, you gaze
at this symphony of light–
this dance of moon and
lighthouse energy
pirouetting across the water.
It’s relaxing.
Mesmerizing.
Inspiring.
PAUSE
But then, the light from the moon dims,
and the beam of the lighthouse fades.
Across the sky,
the first ray of the sunlight
pierces night’s veil.
PAUSE
And, as the sun rises,
bringing life to the water,
and creatures in and around the water,
a new calm befalls the sea,
one of brilliant beauty and color.
One of life
and peace
and joy.

Close your eyes and breathe.
Breathe in slowly and deeply
Until a gentle rhythm
Of deep breaths
Occurs naturally.
LONG PAUSE
While breathing,
Listen to your breath,
To the air entering you,
Full of calm and relaxation.
LONG PAUSE
And listen to the breath
Leaving you,
Taking away stress
And distractions.
Leaving you fully relaxed
And at peace.
PAUSE
Now take a moment
And become aware of your pillow.
Your soft, cushy pillow
That gently cradles your head.
PAUSE
Feel the pillow caressing your head,
And supporting it,
With loving care,
So you can deeply relax.
PAUSE
Now breathe again.
Breathe deep
And let your body
Feel the bed beneath you,
And the mattress that knows
The exact amount to give into you,
So it molds around your body.
PAUSE
Breathe into the mattress,
Into your own little cave,
That’s perfectly sculpted,
Around you.
For you, and you alone.
PAUSE
Now, imagine a blanket,
Soft and fuzzy,
So incredibly cozy
As it enfolds you.
PAUSE
Allow yourself to breathe deeply,
And let the blanket snuggle you,
So you feel secure,
And comfortable.
And protected.
PAUSE
Now, imagine yourself
Gently lifting off your bed,
While wrapped comfortably
In your blanket.
As you take a deep breath,
You gently float out into the night,
Where you feel the warmth of the night,
Sweetly kiss your cheeks.
PAUSE
And, after a moment,
The blanket descends.
And, as it does,
Several tiny bunnies approach
And gently nuzzle you.
Their velvety fur is comforting,
Almost relaxing,
And their calm demeanor
Brings a sense of peace to you.
PAUSE
You take a deep breath,
And the blanket rises above the bunnies
That stand on their hind legs,
As if wishing you well.
And the blanket sails away.
PAUSE
And, as you float away
With your blanket,
You notice a meadow,
Lighted by fireflies,
So you can see
All the flowers
And butterflies that awaken
For your arrival.
PAUSE
The blanket skims slowly over the flowers,
So you feel their silky petals
Gently tickling you.
PAUSE
Dozens of sleeping butterflies awaken
And open their wings,
So you feel a gentle breeze
Against your skin.
A pair of butterflies touch your cheeks,
Fanning them with their wings,
To give you a real butterfly kiss.
PAUSE
The blanket continues,
Floating through the meadow,
Toward the very center,
Where you notice a large white flower,
Shimmering in the moonlight.
The flower is big enough for you.
PAUSE
The blanket softly lowers you,
Into the petal arms of the flower.
They feel like silk and velvet
Blending together
To make the most delicious sensation.
PAUSE
And the petal arms of the flower,
Wrap around you,
Creating a luxurious bed,
That warms and snuggles you.
PAUSE
And as you breathe again,
Your mind and body,
Let go,
In this perfect place for you,
So, you can peacefully dream,
The night away.

Relax. Simply relax.
Letting go of
All the tension
In your muscles,
And any aches and pains.
Just let them go.
LONG PAUSE
Take a deep breath,
A cleansing, purifying breath,
A breath that releases tension,
And brings calm to you.
LONG PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
Sitting on the ground,
With a beautiful, statuesque
older woman.
PAUSE
The woman has hair,
Braided in mazes,
On top of her head.
Her eyes are like shiny onyx,
And her skin glows,
In the sun.
PAUSE
Together, you sit cross-legged on the ground.
The woman weaves a basket
With black, brown and golden strands.
PAUSE
Several minutes pass in silence.
Then the woman,
Shows you the basket,
With a magnificent spider design woven into it.
“The spider knows balance,” she says.
“Close your eyes, breathe,
And feel balance in your life.”
PAUSE
After a moment,
You feel a calmness,
A centeredness,
A balance,
Like the nimble spider.
The woman smiles.
PAUSE
The woman sets the
Spider basket aside,
And takes out another basket.
After weaving for a few minutes,
She shows you a basket with
a beautiful flower design.
PAUSE
She gives you the basket to hold,
And you run your fingers
over the strands.
They’re surprisingly soft.
PAUSE
After moments of silence,
The basket weaver speaks again.
“The flower knows natural beauty,” she says.
“Close your eyes, breathe,
“And see your natural beauty.”
PAUSE
After a moment of closing your eyes,
And going inward,
You see light around yourself,
Light that shines from the inside out.
And you recognize and embrace
Your natural beauty.
The woman smiles.
PAUSE
The woman sets the flower basket aside,
And reaches for another.
This basket is different, though.
It is completed, but
there are no colors,
no designs.
Just simple golden strands.
PAUSE
After a moment,
The woman speaks.
“This basket carries food,
Nourishment for our people.
It understands what the
Self needs to sustain.”
PAUSE
Holding the basket,
You close your eyes
And are flooded
With images of ways
To care for yourself.
Ways you’ve either ignored
or not known.
PAUSE
As you open your eyes,
The basket changes.
Designs of spiders, flowers,
Houses, trees, patterns, and more,
Appear on the basket.
PAUSE
After a moment,
The basket weaver speaks.
“The basket is yours,” she says.
“It will come with you always.
When you need to care for yourself,
Just look into it.
What you need will appear.”
PAUSE
Imagine, gingerly, running your fingers
Over the designs,
Knowing that they were created
Just for you.
Knowing that they hold the keys
To your well-being.
PAUSE
Now, envision closing your eyes again,
Breathing deeply, peacefully,
And seeing the basket
Weave its way into your consciousness,
So it is there,
With its contents,
Whenever you need or want it.

Sometimes when I’m frozen,
But my thoughts are bursting inside.
So much energy is spent,
Trying to calm their wild ride.
PAUSE…
I beat myself up for not doing,
The tasks that need to get done.
But all my time is spent,
Holding back the desire to run.
PAUSE…
One minute I’m angry,
The next I’m in tears.
The tough love voice yells loud,
Its truth rings loud in my ears.
PAUSE…
I crumble into bed,
Exhausted from the fight.
Feeling a little crazy,
Knowing I’m not quite right.
PAUSE…
It’s here at the lowest,
When the whisper softly sings.
It’ll all be okay, sweet one,
We all struggle with these things.
PAUSE…
Breathe into yourself, she says,
And remember who you are.
These toxic mental demons,
Will drag you way out far.
PAUSE…
But see if you can find,
The space between your breaths.
See if you can feel,
Where stillness comes to rest.
I breathe in deep and focus,
On the air that fills me up.
I breathe out fully and notice,
Thoughts empty from this cup.
PAUSE…
Breathe in and let it clear.
Breathe out all the fear.
Breathe in and slow it down.
Breathe out thoughts that buzz around.
LONG PAUSE…
I calm down some,
Enough to see,
The voice inside,
That was whispering.
Is my own soul,
Who deeply knows,
That I am fine,
And I am whole.
PAUSE…
All this noise,
That feels so real,
This mental fighting,
I try to conceal,
Will lose its power,
When I share,
Will evaporate,
Should I dare.
LONG PAUSE…
All we have is now,
So focus on what’s here.
Come into the quiet,
And see if you can hear.
PAUSE…
The whispers of your soul,
Pulling you out of your head.
Feel yourself calm down now,
There’s light up ahead.

See the stress letting go.
Feel yourself just
Drifting with the flow.

Let the relaxation take over you;
And welcome the solace.
Sail into sleep with no cares,
Just like a beautiful goddess.

Now, imagine if you can,
Standing at the foot of a rainbow,
Gazing into the clouds,
Where all the beautiful colors go.
PAUSE
There’s a soft red arch,
Like the petal of a rose,
Another in aquamarine
And a third in pale yellow.
PAUSE
If you shift your gaze,
A violet arch appears,
And a hint of green and orange show up,
When you draw near.
PAUSE
And as you continue
to observe,
You notice the color indigo
emerge.
PAUSE
After a moment, you raise your arms,
And are lifted to the sky,
Connecting with the rainbow colors,
Body, soul and mind.
PAUSE
Now, imagine if you can,
Those rainbow colors in you,
As you slide up the arches,
To explore something new.
PAUSE
Imagine scaling the colors,
As your rise into the sky,
Seeing shimmering sunlight,
And misty clouds go by.
PAUSE
And the rainbow works like a conveyor belt,
Moving you to the top.
The higher you go; the more connected you feel.
You don’t want this feeling to stop.
PAUSE
And finally, the rainbow conveyor slows,
As you reach the highest peak,
With rays of sunlight all around,
Shining through in streaks.
PAUSE
And, from your place atop the clouds,
Sitting on the rainbow’s arch,
You feel the rainbow inside of you;
It’s no longer separate and apart.
PAUSE
You feel your chakras vibrate,
Each energy center alive,
You feel it in your abdomen,
And at the base of your spine.
PAUSE
You feel the colors in your core
And in your throat above,
And through your chest, near your heart,
You’re filled with compassion and love.
PAUSE
And a gentle energy hums
On your head and between your eyes.
You see the colors indigo and purple,
Blending with you and rising to the sky.
PAUSE
Breathe in deep the colors,
That light you from inside.
Feel your energy balancing,
As joy and peace coincide.
PAUSE
And, after a moment you’re ready,
To bid the rainbow goodbye.
You turn and position yourself,
For your downward ride.
PAUSE
And, as you cruise down through the clouds,
You relish the balance within.
The rainbow has shown you magic,
And that you both are truly kin.
PAUSE
So, when your feet touch the ground,
And the rainbow fades away,
You thank the rainbow for its magic,
And head out on your way.
PAUSE
Yet, as you leave, you know the truth,
Of the rainbow in the sky,
It’s part of you and will always be,
Lighting you from inside.

As you draw it in,
let tension and pain out.

let your body melt

Let the sheets wrap around you,
enfold you,
in warmth and love.

is so comfortable
it could float.

Now, imagine if you can,
your body floating,
drifting upward,

As the whisper ends,
you feel your body
sailing out into the
heart of the night.
You feel safe and secure,
and calm and relaxed.

As you float into the night,
you gaze upon a half-moon
glistening in the sky–
a half-moon that whispers in your ear,
“You are a light in the darkness.”
You thank the half-moon and
hold the whisper close.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
you float over a
forest of pine trees–
their needles gently
tickle you.
Then, the pine trees
whisper to you,
“You are fresh and new
each night and day.”
You thank the pine trees and
hold the whisper close.
PAUSE
Moments later,
you drift over a lake
reflecting the moon and the stars.
The lake whispers to you,
“You have calmness in your center.”
You thank the lake and
hold the whisper close.
PAUSE
After drawing in a deep breath,
you feel a gentle breeze
guiding you as you float.
There’s a whisper in the breeze,
”You know how to flow with life.”
You thank the breeze and
hold the whisper close.
PAUSE
You drift over a park
filled with a garden of flowers.
The flowers whisper in your ear,
“You spread natural beauty
in the world each day.”
You thank the flowers and
hold their whisper close.
PAUSE
You draw in a deep breath,
and glide over hills and rocks
until you come to a waterfall.
The mist of the waterfall
kisses your face
and begins to whisper to you,
“You are strong, yet flexible.”
You thank the waterfall
and hold the whisper close.
PAUSE
After a while,
You feel yourself
floating back to your home.
Soon, you are gently
placed in your bed
where the sheets caress you.
Then the sheets whisper to you,
“You are always safe here.”
You thank the sheets
and hold their whisper close.
And, as you do,
you feel the sheets
wrap around you,
snuggling you,
and your mind
gently hears the
whispers of the night.
They play in your ear
like a lullaby,
and soon,
you are asleep.

with the quiet of the night.
Become aware of its
gentle presence.
LONG PAUSE
As you find the connection
with the night,
breathe into it,
allowing the stillness
to flow in
and all around you.

Feel the stillness expanding,
Bringing with it
peace and tranquility.
Peace and tranquility
to rest in you and around you.
LONG PAUSE
Now, visualize a spark of light
above your head.
It’s golden-white,
and full of energy,
and it radiates
just above your head.
PAUSE
Take a pause
and just watch the light,
as it twinkles and dances.
After a few moments,
you notice it’s growing:
The spark has formed a beam,
a golden-white beam
that radiates from your head.
PAUSE
Take a deep breath,
and focus on the beam.
As you do,
observe how it grows
taller and wider.
Soon, the top of your head
is aglow with this beautiful light–
a light that reaches
toward the heaven.
PAUSE
After a few moments,
the light begins
changing colors.
Purple, blue, green,
orange, red and yellow.
A kaleidoscope of colors
shines from your head
to the heavens.
PAUSE
Now, breathe in again.
until you feel that
radiant beam of color
really become part of you.
Part of your mind.
Part of your body.
Part of your spirit.
Hold this beautiful space.
PAUSE
Now, gently shift your focus,
if you can,
to your heart chakra
where you notice
A slender ray of light
emanating from your heart.
PAUSE
The light pulses and shimmies,
go in and out at first.
Then, it becomes steady.
PAUSE
As you imagine gazing
at the light from your chest,
a feeling of warmth
comes over you.
Warmth and contentment.
PAUSE
Breathe into the light,
and observe how
it shines brighter and brighter,
and you feel more contentment,
more warmth…
More Love.
PAUSE
As the light intensifies,
an incredible,
unconditional love
spreads through you.
It’s calming,
relaxing,
and filled with
natural beauty.
It opens from you
to the entire world.
Allow yourself to really feel
the Peace…
and Beauty…
and Joy
that this love brings.
PAUSE
Now, breathe deeply again,
Slowly,
Deeply.
And visualize the brilliant beam of light
from your head,
and from your heart.
See them shining
with love and peace.
Feel the calm and contentment
they embody.

Soften your body,
And breathe deeply into it.
Allow your muscles to just melt
Into deep relaxation.
PAUSE
Feel your body lighten,
As if floating on sea foam,
Gently floating.
Gently drifting.
Deeper into relaxation.
PAUSE
And, as your body relaxes,
Notice your mind letting go,
Releasing all those distracting
Or stressful thoughts.
Like your body,
Your mind just floats.
PAUSE
Now, breathe in again,
And as you do,
Imagine having the power
To wipe the stress
And distracting thoughts
From your mind.
PAUSE
Continue breathing,
Focusing on breaths that
Open and clear your mind.
PAUSE
Now, listen as a tiny whisper
Tickles your ear
With the word
“Believe.”
Hear it repeated
Over and over.
Say it to yourself.
PAUSE
While hearing the word “believe,”
Raise your arm,
And slowly, gently
Move it as if you're wiping a window.
Repeat the motion a couple of times,
All while breathing peacefully.
All while truly believing.
Know in your heart that
You are wiping away the
Tension in your mind,
The stressful thoughts.
The pressure you put on yourself.
Now and in the future.
PAUSE
Take a moment,
And just bask,
In this place
Without stressful thinking.
You have the power to
Turn away those things
From the outside,
Those things that create
tense thoughts and stress.
You have the power
To live in a calm place.
Enjoy this moment.
And embrace your power
Now. Today. And every day
Into the Future,
With a simple motion of your hand.

Close your eyes,
and outstretch your arms.
Greet the day,
With anticipation and warmth.
PAUSE
Now, stay with those feelings–
Keep them near.
Then think of your day
Until what you do is clear.
PAUSE
And, as you get to your work,
You may not feel excited,
Because what you need–
Your job’s not providing.
PAUSE
So, it’s time to take control,
And put you back in power.
It doesn’t matter if you’re salaried,
Or work by the hour.
PAUSE
What you do is contribute,
And that deserves recognition,
So imagine seeing your boss,
And giving them that explanation.
PAUSE
Now, envision your boss,
As he or she responds,
It’s now your time
To think through the options
to decide upon.
PAUSE
So breathe in some courage,
And to yourself say,
That if you don’t hear what you want,
You’ll walk away.
And cast aside the fear
Of making a change.
You can take your time.
You don’t have to do it today.
PAUSE
Now breathe, and shift your power,
To manifesting the job you want.
See how to create it,
Beyond your thoughts.
PAUSE
And, as you keep this vision close,
You’ll find that it will appear,
In ways you weren’t expecting,
But when it happens,
It’s clear.
PAUSE
Keep in mind your job
Is just one part of you.
And it can change,
You have the power to create
Something amazing,
Something new.

Go easy on yourself tonight,
And release the pressure.
Let go of the need to perform,
The expectation to do,
The pull to move.
And instead,
Just be here.
Honoring your soul’s need for tenderness,
Space,
And stillness.

Far away from those thoughts cascading through your mind.
The thoughts drowning you in worry,
Judgements,
And expectations.
The thoughts that want to keep you running,
Moving fast,

As you focus on the rhythm of your breathing,

The motion of your body as you lay here,

Inviting your body to relax,
And release.
Inviting your mind to slow down.
Inviting your soul be open.

You deserve gentleness tonight, dear one.
No matter how many “shoulds” parade around you.
No matter who may say otherwise.

You deserve unconditional love from yourself,
Comfort,
And softness.

So breathe,
And open yourself to receive the depths of kindness you so easily give to others.
Feel it lay over you like a soft blanket,
Comforting you,
Cradling you,

You do not need to achieve more,

Let your eyes get heavier,

Feel your entire face soften,

As your spine lengthens and releases.
