| Why Do Race Cheaters Do It? - Part 1 | 26 Nov 2024 | 00:35:07 | |
#306 - Wherever there's a race, there are those few who try to get around the rules, try to earn things without working for them and show everyone how they are seemingly "the best". But are they? This week, it's all about race cheaters. What types of cheaters are there? I give examples of one-time cheaters, as well as serial cheaters. And the bigger question: Why do cheaters cheat? What type of runner is most likely to cheat? Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus... | Brad Fawley - The Frontrunner | 12 Nov 2024 | 00:37:23
#304 - The Frontrunner is that rare book: a novel about running. It's more than that though. It's a story of understanding who one truly is through running. And it's really good. Author Brad Fawley joins me this week to talk about his book, his own runner (like his book, he's really good!), and all the other things he does or has done. If you're looking for motivation or even for a great next book to read, you've come to the right place! All the links are on the show website! | Food Revisited! | 05 Nov 2024 | 00:28:15
#303 - During my Ruth Anderson 50k race a few weeks ago, I realized that some food choice changes needed to be made. I've done a lot of thinking about how my food habits effect my running and races. They go hand in hand. This week, I talk about how my nutritional healthy choices will make a positive effect on my running and hopefully put an end to my past GI problems. Figuring out and perfecting our nutrition is difficult, I really hope this helps end my past problems and I hope that sharing them with you will help you on your own running journey! | Wes Plate - Master of Ultras and Videos! | 08 Oct 2024 | 00:44:30
#299 - When I think of really long ultra races, a few runners' names come to mind. When I think of those long races and the runners who film them, there are only a handful who have the prowess to handle running a complicated single track and filming at the same time! Wes Plate is one of those runners. It's taken him a while to make those videos we look forward to and I for one am so happy he does! Today, he talks about his journey, his process and more about his love of the very long run! Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus... | Cross Country Running and More! | 01 Oct 2024 | 00:26:34
#298 - If you ran in high school or college and didn't run on a track, you probably ran cross country. But what happened when you left school? Did you continue running cross country? In the US, probably not. If you grew up in Africa, chances are the answer would be yes. Cross country is a huge sport in other countries, but why isn't it a bigger sport here? It's exciting, has all the ups and downs of trail running, yet is still short enough for spectators. Today, I talk about its beginnings and why it should be brought back to the Olympics, this time, to the Winter Olympics! #296 - A couple years ago I released an episode on this topic, but I thought it was time to share some more on the same topic. #293 - This week, I talk about my short but wonderful trip to Lake Tahoe and Echo Lake and how important it is to get away to the place where that recharges your batteries. The Sierra Nevada Mountains does that for me like no place else. I know there's a place that you like to go to when you feel the need to re-energize. No matter how brief, it is better to go for a short stay than no stay. I also talk about my terrific training run and I finally figured out why I fell on that fateful day last December. | The Downfall of Nike | 16 Jul 2024 | 00:30:41
#287 - With the creation of the Internationalist running shoe in 1980, Nike created a road running shoe that helped spark the tsunami of running that even today hasn't stopped. But by the mid-1980s, Nike realized that there was a lot more money to be made outside of running; lots and lots more money. They abandoned running for the greener pastures of trendy fashion. That was the corporation's first step away from running for Nike. Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus... #284 - There are A LOT of things we can do to prepare for a race, or a long training run. I'm including training runs in this episode as well, as the preparation and recovery are usually the same things, aren't they? Many things we can prepare, other things we can purchase (who said running is a cheap sport???). Maybe you do some of these things already and others you hadn't thought about. In any case, it's fun to think about some alternative ways to do things and to give it a new perspective! Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus... | The Magic Mile | 28 May 2024 | 00:31:30
#280 - Mile races are not very popular anymore. But when we think back to mile races, we may think of Roger Bannister breaking the 4-minute mile for the first time and how incredible it must have been. Or, we think of how this distance evolved into the 1500-meter race we have today. Or maybe, you think of the Beer Mile races that are rising in popularity today. There's something about the Miler to me that conjures storytelling, history and the romanticism of running. That's what makes it such a magical distance. #261 - It's been five years since I started MRTW! I love doing my podcast just as much now, if not more, than I did when I started. Throughout all the trials and tribulations, especially recently, this podcast is the one thing I can count on. I apologize for this episode being shorter than usual, on top of everything else, I caught a cold last week and lost my voice, so I didn't have much of a speaking voice. I think all of you for being the best and most amazing listeners there are! Martha Runs the World website

#260 - You can quickly tell if someone is a runner by looking at their feet. Yeah, we runners have pretty distinctive feet. This week, I will help you take care of your feet so they will help take you many many more miles! We sometimes neglect our hard-working feet, but that stops with this episode! Let's show our feet some love! Martha Runs the World website
| Fear of FOMO! | 02 Jan 2024 | 00:28:27 | |
#259 - Fear of FOMO is a big problem in running today. Many of us feel bad about our own running when we see others doing more or what we think are better runs than ourselves. I talk about it this week and give some help so that you and I can maybe not suffer so badly and feel better about our own running. #258 - In less than 10 seconds, my 2024 goals were decimated. But that doesn't mean I won't make new ones; they just won't be the big, epic ones I wanted. This week, I talk about making meaningful goals, ones we'll keep, even when things go wrong. Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus... | Sh*t Happens! | 19 Dec 2023 | 00:12:52
#257 - At some time in my many years of running, I've heard that silly phrase "a bad run is better than no run at all." That's hogwash, of course. Some runs are so terrible, it's better to not go out at all. Today's episode is about my terrible run Saturday and what I have to do because of it in the follow up. Sh*t happens indeed.
