A former porn star-turned-preacher reveals seven lies our culture tells us and guides us to the only thing that creates authentic happiness: a relationship with Jesus. Joshua Broome knows this firsthand. He had a successful career in the adult film industry, making lots of money and achieving notoriety and all the markers of success. And yet he felt empty inside. After hitting rock bottom, he cried out to Jesus ... and it was only then that he was fully redeemed. In 7 Lies That Will Ruin Your Life, Joshua examines seven things we are told will make us happy and shows how each of them points us back to our need for God. Using his own journey as a point of reference, 7 Lies That Will Ruin Your Life pairs his personal experiences with Biblical truths, demonstrating both how we can be deceived and the healing truth that comes when we realize that Jesus really is enough.

| Episode 105: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #105- Rob Decker | 22 Jan 2025 | 01:25:16 | |
After years of abuse, addiction, a desperate search for praise and approval, and living in unbearable pain and isolation, Rob Decker reached a breaking point that drove him to take drastic measures. After a failed suicide attempt and a friend not giving up on him, Rob woke up alive with a new lease on life. The state of mental health issues is reaching alarming new levels, and the "silent crisis" continues to grip the minds of men and women. The problem is far too big to continue to ignore. "Our world runs rampant with despair, isolation, and pain. I want to use my experiences to offer hope, healing, and restoration for others who feel lost and, in their own minds, believe that there is no hope," says Rob. "There is a 'silent crisis,' the number of people with a mental health issue is growing at an astonishing rate. It's time to bridge the gap with mental health systems and provide informal support for all who deal with various issues. It's time for men to RISE AS LIONS."
| Episode 87: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #87- "Fastest Pastor" Don Wickstrum | 02 Feb 2024 | 01:49:43 | |
Don’s Bio,
From the age of eight, Don had a vivid dream: to make it to the top of one of the most well-known mountains in the continental United States while going as fast as he could in a race car. He never envisioned the nightmare of a cancer diagnosis would make his childhood dream a reality. In 2018, Don heard the words that so many people dread: “You have cancer.” As someone who had struggled with anxiety and depression in the past, his colon cancer diagnosis and especially the subsequent fight took its toll. But as he and his family prayed and created a game plan for treatment, something else started emerging: resolve. As he stared down the real possibility of death, Don remembered something that had always been on his bucket list: his childhood dream of racing to the top of Pike’s Peak, one of Colorado's famed “14ers.” Drawing on his newfound resolve as well as his strong faith in Jesus, he decided to pursue the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, considered one of the deadliest races in America. It took everything he had just to attempt it – let alone complete it. After several failed attempts, in 2022 he tamed the full mountain – with its 156 turns over a 12.42-mile course – all while battling cancer. His spiritual convictions and racing prowess earned him the nickname, “Fastest Pastor.” That’s ironic, considering Don spent much of his young life identifying as an atheist, which gave way to his belief in Jesus after he fully pursued the evidence. His life story, as well as his racing legacy, was captured in the 2022 I Am Second film called “Chasing Hope.” Before Wickstrum – born in Illinois and raised in Wisconsin – became a racing legend, though, he was a successful entrepreneur, building and leading one of the biggest robotics integration companies in the country. That journey started when he got an engineering internship in college, which he admits he had no business getting. He sold his booming business after his cancer diagnosis to pursue his dream of racing and reaching people with a message of hope.

| Episode 79: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #79- John Smithbaker | 16 Oct 2023 | 01:10:19 | |
Even before he was born, the conditions for John Smithbaker’s ministry training began. While still in his mother’s womb, John’s biological father abandoned their family and left them to fend for themselves. As a young boy, teen, and well into his adult life, the dark hole that bore through John’s heart grew. Try as he did to camouflage the deepest of soul wounds through an unrelenting pursuit of personal successes and worldly accomplishments, nothing could fill the void left by not having God’s fatherhood plan in his life. One fateful afternoon on route to a fishing expedition, John’s life was changed forever. In his very own “Damascus Road” moment, the Heavenly Father made clear to John the nature of his pain, the profound magnitude of the fatherless epidemic in America among boys and men, and what he needed to do next. However, like so many who are terribly hurt, John had largely externalized his pain and held fast to bitterness about his broken home. There on the side of the road John’s own sins flashed before him. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, he gave up his commitment to pain and resentment and repented for the deepest sin in a fatherless boy’s life — unforgiveness of his father. Soon after his miraculous Christian faith conversion, John was called by the Lord to abandon his worldly pursuits and the comforts and fruits of being a successful CEO in business to become a full-time missionary. God commissioned John to become a national advocate for precious fatherless boys who have no voice and gave him a unique vision to develop and launch the life-impacting ministry of Fathers in the Field. The ministry’s mission is to go boldly into the fields of the fatherless to bring God’s redemptive love to boys and men across America.
| Episode 78: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #78- Tim Brown | 12 Oct 2023 | 01:19:11 | |
For Tim Brown’s entire life, God has placed him in positions that surrounded him with men. From childhood athletics, clerking in a men’s store during the high school and college years, owning his own men’s clothing store, to working for a national custom clothing maker, Tim has spent each day speaking one-on-one with men in our society. Tim would come home at night after a day spent listening to these men and share with his wife that these men just had no one they could open up to and no brotherhood of men pointing them daily to God’s truths and plans for them. Consistently, grown men would pour out their hearts concerning stresses in their work, worries over family, or fears that life was meaningless. The final straw was when a man deemed very successful in the world’s eyes sobbed out to Tim that he had no relationship with his wife, his own kids couldn’t stand him, and he had no friends to call upon. Something had to be done to try and help these men. After much prayer, God revealed that as REUP. Starting with his group of men and calling it a “Fire Team” to groups of men now meeting throughout the country, God is at work in men who are seeking to live by HIS life. Tim is convinced that the most critical need of the church today is men, bold men, willing to lead their homes and serve the church. Tim’s passion is leading men into biblical manhood and he has authored a number of Bible studies and his book God And A Man: How God Can Use Any Man To Make A Difference has impacted thousands of men.

| Episode 63: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #63- One on One with Ryan Beck- Pray.com | 01 May 2023 | 00:42:04 | |
Ryan Beck is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Pray.com, the world’s #1 app for daily prayer and faith-based audio content. Pray.com is driven by a mission to grow faith, cultivate community, and leave a legacy of helping others. Beck brings expertise in computer science, software engineering, and theological studies to his role as chief technology officer. He helped start Pray.com in 2016. As with many young people growing up in difficult circumstances, Beck was introduced to drugs, gangs, and violent crime at an early age. Early drug use got him kicked out of school for the first time as a sophomore. Three months before graduating high school Beck was arrested for assault. Upon his release from jail, he began selling drugs, instead of using them. Subsequently, Beck was arrested again, this time for the distribution of narcotics, convicted, and sent to prison. It was in jail that a fellow inmate encouraged him to turn his life around, introducing him to the Bible, and encouraging him to explore his faith in Christ. Following his period of incarceration, Beck was given the opportunity to attend Calvary Bible College, where he was able to study theology and nurture his calling to create a Kingdom impact. While he did not feel called to be a minister, Beck did go onto pursue a double-major in philosophy and computer science at Calvin College, where he developed specific skills to serve organizations seeking to serve people at the intersection of technology and faith. In 2016, Beck reunited his relationship with Steve Gatena, a childhood friend from middle school, where Gatena shared his vision for a new project he was working on called Pray.com. Gatena invited Beck to join him and fellow co-founders Matthew Potter and Michael Lynn to build Pray.com as the digital destination for faith in 2016. Prior to coming to Pray.com, Beck had served as a backend engineer with Mission India. Beck is married to his incredible wife, Jeanette, who prayerfully helped him in making the decision to join Gatena and the Pray.com team as a co-founder of what has become the world’s #1 app for daily prayer and faith-based audio content.

| Episode 61: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #61- Jeremy Stalnecker | 18 Apr 2023 | 01:37:01 | |
Jeremy Stalnecker is the CEO of the Mighty Oaks Foundation. The Mighty Oaks Foundation is dedicated to helping America’s military warriors and their families who are suffering from the unseen wounds of combat such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While growing up in San Jacinto, CA, Jeremy’s only goal in life was to leave home and join the Marine Corps. This dream was finally realized with an active duty commission in 1999. Following Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, VA, Jeremy was assigned to First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division as an infantry platoon commander. Serving first as a rifle platoon commander in a helicopter company and then as the platoon commander of the counter-mechanized platoon, Jeremy learned valuable leadership and communication skills that he continues to use today. In January 2003, Fifth Marines, as a part of the First Marine Division, deployed to Kuwait in support of what would become Operation Iraqi Freedom. As the war began, First Battalion, Fifth Marines was the infantry battalion used to breech the berm separating Kuwait and Iraq and secured the first major objective of the war. This led to a road march that ended with the battalion occupying Baghdad and seizing the presidential palace in northern Baghdad on the Tigris River. Throughout this movement, Jeremy and the counter-mechanized platoon provided navigation and lead security for the battalion. While in the Marine Corps, God was working in Jeremy’s life to turn his heart toward full-time ministry. Just one month after returning from Iraq, Jeremy became a staff member of his home church at Coastline Baptist in Oceanside, CA. Here he gained ministry experience that would equip him for the further leading of God. In his role as an Assistant Pastor, he counseled and mentored many couples and individuals while also maintaining other church responsibilities. It was a great privilege for him to be able to serve in this capacity so close to Camp Pendleton since most of the people he worked with were either Marines or the family members of Marines. In 2008, Jeremy and his family took on a new responsibility when he became the Senior Pastor, just east of San Francisco Bay at Bay Area Baptist Church in Fremont, CA. In this capacity, he continued to minister to families and individuals in a wide range of areas. After serving in the role of senior pastor for nearly seven years, the door leading to a full-time position with the Mighty Oaks Foundation opened. This move brought together both his ministry experience and military background in a way that allows him to serve and minister to many hurting veterans, service members and their families. Along with his wife Susanne and their four children, Jeremy works to reach the hurting and provide the healing found in Christ.

| Episode 54: Man Up Monday Podcast Episode #54- Pastor Kelly Williams- Vanguard Church | 09 Mar 2023 | 01:34:18 | |
Background: I was born in 1971 with a birth defect. I had four surgeries in the first three and a half years of my life. I am not supposed to be here. I thank God for the prayers of a godly mother. I spent my childhood on a dairy farm in south-central Kentucky about one and a half hours north of Nashville, Tennessee. My father was a bi-vocational SBC pastor and farmer, and from an early age, I desired to be a pastor. In 1989, I graduated from Barren County High School and began attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. In the spring of my freshman year of college, I began dating Tosha. During our dating years, in March 1992, a drunk driver killed my godly mom. This greatly shaped my view of what it means to live in a real relationship with God and others. I won the 1993 Liberty University preaching award and got to personally meet with Dr. Jerry Falwell. Additionally, I got to speak to 5k plus people in the weekly convocation service. In 1993, I married Tosha, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pastoral studies, and began studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. While pursuing my seminary education, I worked as a youth pastor at South Park Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. I became the interim senior pastor of that church during my final year in Dallas. I graduated cum laude from DTS with a master’s of theology (Th.M.) degree in pastoral studies in 1996. After completing seminary, Tosha and I became qualified as church planter apprentices with the Southern Baptist Convention. We moved to Colorado Springs to start Vanguard Church of Colorado Springs. Vanguard quickly raised local media attention as well as national attention in media outlets such as Time, The 700 Club, Christianity Today, The New York Times, and ABC World News Tonight. I have now served as the Senior Pastor of Vanguard for 24 years and have transitioned from being a church planting/founding pastor to being a senior pastor.
