| Karen Kingsbury | 06 Jun 2023 | 00:12:40 | |
AFFIRM Originals adaptation of Karen Kingsbury’s best-selling inspirational romance novel, Karen Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows, will premiere exclusively on Pure Flix February 24, 2023. “It’s absolutely amazing to see my novel, ‘A Thousand Tomorrows,’ come to life on the screen,” said author Karen Kingsbury. “But what’s more amazing is how God uses these stories to touch hearts and transform lives. He deserves all the glory for my writing and for my work reaching wider audiences by becoming shows or movies.” The six-episode series from AFFIRM Originals premieres the first two episodes on Friday, February 24, with new episodes following every Friday. The series is about Cody Gunnar, a nationally-renowned bull rider who is cocky, brash and a legend among his peers. On track to the top, Cody has rejected everything about his past – his famous father, hurting mother and every woman who ever came along. His heart only has room for his younger brother, Carl Joseph. That’s when barrel racer Ali Daniels enters his life. Only God knows how many tomorrows they will have together. Can Cody and Ali make the most of their time in the dangerous and competitive rodeo world? “I can really relate to my character Cody Gunnar,” said actor Colin Ford. “I grew up a Christian, but didn’t really practice my faith in my youth and that’s changed a lot in the last few years. Cody experienced trials and tribulations in his childhood and was focused on surviving. It’s not until he meets Ali that he learns faith is what can sustain him through love and loss.” The series stars Colin Ford (Daybreak, Upcoming THE HILL, CAPTAIN MARVEL), Rose Reid (SWEET, SWEET SUMMERTIME, A WELCOME HOME CHRISTMAS), Cole Sibus (Stumptown, SPARE ROOM), Anne Leighton (NCIS, GOD’S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS), Kate Easton (FAITH UNDER FIRE), KC Clyde (Yellowstone, YES DAY) and CK Bolado. The show was directed by Kohl Glass and Cassidy Lunnen. “I really love this story of Cody and Ali,” said actress Rose Reid. “It really encourages audiences to seek a higher power and something greater than themselves in difficult times. For my character Ali, even though she’s going through something difficult, she has so much strength from her faith in God and she knows she’s not alone in the struggle. And that’s such a powerful example for anyone who watches this show.” The series features themes of trust, forgiveness, love, redemption and transformation. The novel, A Thousand Tomorrows, is the first in a series about bull rider Cody Gunnar. Karen Kingsbury, who has penned over 60 works of fiction and nonfiction and with some 25 million copies sold, co-wrote the scripts for the series with her son, Tyler Russell. Kingsbury’s agent Rick Christian, founder and CEO Emeritus of Alive Literary Agency, negotiated the deal. Watch the trailer for Karen Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows here.

Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation, the leading provider of outdoor skill, safety and conservation curriculum to schools nationwide, has received a $100,000 grant from the International Order of T. Roosevelt to fund a partnership aimed at raising youth awareness and education about wildlife conservation. “This dynamic partnership between two leading conservation organizations is an ideal match,” OTF Executive Director Sean McLelland said. “Through it, we’ll work together to engage youth in outdoor education across the country. OTF’s Outdoor Adventures curriculum is used in schools in 47 states, making it a perfect partner for IOTR to achieve its goal of furthering wildlife conservation.” McLelland accepted the grant at IOTR’s Naples, Florida, gathering in late April. “As the nation’s premier conservation group, The International Order of T. Roosevelt is proud to partner with Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation to reach future outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen,” IOTR Executive Director Luke Hilgemann said. “Through this partnership, we can educate the next generation about the importance of the conservation lifestyle so that we may protect our heritage well into the future.” OTF operates through its Outdoor Adventures program, a fun, interactive course where students are taught lifelong skills using an integrated, 34-unit curriculum comprised of math, science, writing and critical thinking skills. The 300 detailed lesson plans cover angler education, archery, hunter education, boater education, orienteering, survival skills, camping, outdoor cooking, challenge courses, backpacking, mountain bike camping, paddle sports, rock climbing, shooting sports, CPR/first aid and fauna, flora and wilderness medicine. For many schools, grant money offsets the cost of the program, plus OTF offers matching funds for equipment as new schools join. The resulting classes can be taught as a P.E. course, local elective or with agricultural science and wildlife management. The Outdoor Adventures education program is offered in1070 schools in 47 states nationwide with more than 90,000 students participating each year and more than 550,000 program graduates. Each OA student spends 180 hours learning outdoor education per year. The program has totaled 18 million classroom hours of outdoor education to date. Named after the pioneer of conservation Theodore Roosevelt, the International Order of T. Roosevelt is a proactive hunting and conservation foundation focused on sustaining the North American model of wildlife conservation. | Lucas Black | 06 Jun 2023 | 00:22:13
Today on The Kim Sorrelle Celebrity Segment, Kim and Neil will interview Lucas Black Lucas York Black was born on November 29, 1982, in Decatur, Alabama, to Jan (Keenum), an office worker, and Larry Black, a museum worker. Without any formal acting lessons, Lucas made his film debut with a small part in the Kevin Costner film The War (1994) at the age of 11. The small role helped him land his next job in the series American Gothic (1995). When the series went to North Carolina to cast its primary roles, the casting people in Wilmington remembered Lucas, and suggested him for the role of "Caleb Temple." Although the series didn't last too long, Lucas's film career did. He was next seen in the sleeper hit Sling Blade (1996) and then in another dark film Ghosts of Mississippi (1996). A bit of Calvin Klein modeling and mainly school and sports occupied the rest of his spare time. He scored another summer hit with The X Files (1998) and finally got a lead role in the independent film Crazy in Alabama (1999). Selective about his film roles, Lucas turned down an opportunity to star in the movie adaptation of The Horse Whisperer (1998) due to the request of having his accent altered. In 2000, he was seen with Matt Damon in All the Pretty Horses (2000). A good student, Lucas graduated from Speake High School, class of 2001, where he played football, basketball and a little bit of golf. He plans on studying fish biology, which would be probable since he is a highly active bass fisherman. After a small break, he will next be seen alongside Hollywood stars Jude Law and Natalie Portman in the drama Cold Mountain (2003).

| Media Path Podcast, Co-Hosted By Fritz And Louise Palanker | 06 Jun 2023 | 00:27:39 | |
Today on The Kim Sorrelle Celebrity Segment, Kim and Neil will interview Media Path Podcast, Co-Hosted By Fritz And Louise Palanker For nearly four decades, Los Angelenos came to know and love Fritz Coleman through his gig as the weather reporter on KNBC, where his affable demeanor (honed in his early years of stand-up comedy) made him a staple of local news. But when he retired from his weather gig two years ago, Coleman knew he wasn’t done working. “That 11 o’clock news kept me from a lot of things,” he recalls. “Now I could do all those things that massage my soul, be curious more, and discover more.” That’s the impetus behind MEDIA PATH PODCAST, co-hosted by Fritz and Louise Palanker, veteran radio producer and documentarian. With 100 episodes released so far, MEDIA PATH is a look back at what has defined our media for the past half-century. With guests as eclectic as Congressional leader Adam Schiff, television legend Henry Winkler, Grammy winning songwriter Diane Warren, and “Double Dare” host Marc Summers, each week is a journey down a new path of remembering, learning, and reevaluating our shared memories and histories. Every show includes discussion of current cultural events and recommendations from the hosts, as well as extended, deep-dive discussions with figures who have had meaningful and memorable impact on the media world we experience. While many of the subjects will be familiar to Baby Boomers and Gen X’ers, the spirit of inquisitiveness, curiosity, and sharing that Fritz and Louise bring to each episode will ring familiar to newer generations who may be hearing about these subjects, people, and stories for the first time. For Louise Palanker, who has been producing radio entertainment for decades and successful podcasts since 2005, that sense of serious and thoughtful discovery and discussion is what drives the podcast: “We can rediscover the things that matter to us and celebrate what we love.” For Coleman, the show is a new way for him to share his passion and curiosity about the world in the same charitable spirit that earned him Congressional recognition as “Humanitarian of the Year” for his work with the American Red Cross. “It’s a great release valve of the pent-up energy from forty years of weather reporting,” he says. And now – back to you Fritz and Louise, for more journeys on the MEDIA PATH.
