Social Enterprise and Market-Based Solutions: A Marriage of Opportunity for Everyone!27 Feb 202400:38:48

Hi everyone.

Did you know there’s a global movement to solve some of our world’s biggest problems by helping those with the greatest needs become self-sufficient? This movement is being led by all kinds of people and organizations: nonprofits, for profits, specialists, technicians, entrepreneurs, and investors. My guest expert on this episode, Dr. Courtney Cash, is one of those leading the way in these social entrepreneurship endeavors.

On this episode, Courtney discusses such things as (1) how market-based solutions and social enterprise are being used to help solve some of the world's biggest problems, (2) what factors are driving this trend, (3) how focusing on sending large sums of money to organizations or societies in need can actually be counterproductive, and (4) where the marriage of social enterprise and market-based solutions is taking hold around the world.

Courtney then lays out myriad opportunities that are being created by this emerging global trend for just about anyone: job seekers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and what he calls the "impact investors." He also shares his thoughts on how this trend will evolve through the rest of this decade. And, of particular value, he offers some tips to help people identify and seize these opportunities.

Now a bit about Courtney: Dr. Courtney Cash is President of the World Shoe Fund, where he served as the lead strategist in the development of the World Shoe social enterprise. Dr. Cash is also the founder of Simply Strategic Consulting, with almost 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, ministry, and consulting. His work has helped to expand the capacity of nonprofits to impact thousands of people in more than 50 countries through strategic planning, storytelling, donor engagement, and impact collaborations.

Dr. Cash is a seminary-trained nonprofit and ministry leader with degrees and certifications in education, leadership, and business. In 2018, he was awarded a Certificate of Achievement in Nonprofit Fund Development by the Mendoza College of Business of the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Cash also currently serves as Executive in Residence at the Berry College Campbell School of Business, where he mentors young entrepreneurs and teaches courses in social entrepreneurship and nonprofit management.

Currently, his research is focused on the development of multi-sectoral social enterprise models, market-based solutions for scaling the work of nonprofits, and the use of collective impact strategies to address major social challenges in local communities and larger international ecosystems.

You'll find out more about Dr. Cash and the World Shoe Fund at www.worldshoefund.org and on LinkedIn.

Aquatech: Where Water and Lots of Opportunities Meet!!28 Nov 202300:35:29

Hi everyone.

We all know that water is vital for all of us. But did you realize there are huge opportunities out there for those who, among other things, can help recycle water or remove the waste from it?? My guest expert, Riggs Eckelberry, discusses these opportunities and much more on this episode.

On the episode Riggs speaks about such things as (1) the challenges our present water infrastructure faces both in the U.S. and around the globe, (2) the "perfect storm" that's driving these challenges, and (3) who it is, by far, that demands the most water, and why that's "where the money is." Hint: This one may surprise you!

Riggs then explains how the use of water technology, or "aquatech," can help address some of the challenges he identifies. He sheds light on a wide array of opportunities that anyone from a job seeker to an entrepreneur to an investor can seize upon in tackling issues like water treatment and water recycling. Finally, Riggs provides tips and resources that will help you begin to capitalize on the many opportunities this relatively new world of water technology offers.

Now a little bit about Riggs. Riggs Eckelberry is a nationally-renowned entrepreneur who deploys his personal Break To Build™ process to help rebuild the water industry, which has reached a critical breaking point in recent years despite being essential to the planet's survival. As the founding CEO of OriginClear, Riggs has developed innovative solutions to help businesses face rising water bills by tapping into new investment markets. He is even pioneering the development of "water stablecoins,” a cryptocurrency backed by water-assets.

With a diverse background in nonprofit management, oceangoing navigation, and crew rowing, Riggs is uniquely qualified to bring change to an outdated and overrun industry.

You'll learn more about Origin Clear at originclear.com You'll find out more about Riggs there, on LinkedIn, and by listening to the episode.

Perhaps most importantly, listen to what Loren projects will be the myriad opportunities offered by the EV industry, whether you are technically inclined or not.
