Arizona Cardinals offense has looked very different the last couple seasons since the hiring of Drew Petzing as offensive coordinator. While a seemingly boring foundation of running the ball and featuring the tight end, Petzing has shown stability from the offensive coordinator spot and it's translated to on-field production. While not perfect, it's a vast difference from the more high-flying offense that Kliff Kingsbury ran. With Kyler Murray missing half of the 2023 season rehabbing his torn ACL, the first true test of Petzing's offense was this past season where, at times, it looked like one of the better offenses in the NFL and, at other times, looked anemic without any sort of direction.

Kyler Murray was special in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams finishing his outing with a perfect 158.3 passer rating, 3 TD passes and, most importantly, a 41-10 win over a division opponent. Arizona Cardinals played a near-perfect game in their 41-10 rout over the Los Angeles Rams. Highlighted by Marvin Harrison Jr's 4 receptions, 130 yards, and 2 touchdowns in the first quarter alone, the Cardinals led the entire way to improve their record on the season to 1-1. Kyler Murray had over 300 all-purpose yards while throwing for 3 touchdowns, while James Conner ran for 122 yards and a touchdown of his own. The defense sacked Matthew Stafford five times in a breakout game for them as well. Dennis Gardeck and Zaven Collins got in on the sack parade while Budda Baker played at an elite level like Arizona Cardinals fans have grown accustomed to. Head coach Jonathan Gannon had the team prepared and ready to make the most out of playing a division rival riddled with injuries like the Los Angeles Rams were.  The Arizona Cardinals corrected all the shortcomings in their loss to the Bills today against the Rams and spirits are high in the desert. Arizona Cardinals are going into Week 2 with a whole bunch of noise surrounding them from the outside. First, it was the clip of Kyler Murray missing a wide open Marvin Harrison Jr which could have resulted in the game-winning touchdown against the Buffalo Bills. Next, it was a clip of Marvin Harrison Jr getting off the break very slowly and having a top speed of under 17 MPH. Finally, it was a tweet from an aggregator that clipped the important part of an answer from Kyler Murray that in turn made him look selfish and listless pertaining to finding Marvin Harrison Jr and that it wasn't his job. That, of course, was taken completely out of context if the full answer was heard/read. That clipped version went viral and all big outlets picked it up. In Week 2, the Arizona Cardinals must prove it to themselves and everyone else that they're a changed organization. They must beat the Los Angeles Rams, playing many injured players who will not be playing including Puka Nacua and Joe Noteboom, and Kyler Murray must remind everyone how great he can be. Arizona Cardinals are coming off a tough loss to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Arizona Cardinals lost a close Week 1 battle in Buffalo against the Bills. Arizona Cardinals lose 34-28 to the Buffalo Bills to fall to 0-1 in the 2024 NFL season. After going up 17-3 on a Michael Wilson touchdown catch, Matt Prater field goal, and James Conner rushing touchdown, it seemed to be pretty much downhill from their for the Cardinals. DeeJay Dallas kept the Cardinals in it in the 4th with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. With 2 minutes left and the Cardinals down 34-28, Kyler Murray failed to lead the Cardinals to a go-ahead touchdown after missing Marvin Harrison Jr wide open which would have resulted in the aforementioned go-ahead touchdown. Josh Allen had three total touchdowns and the Cardinals pass rush had a very difficult time bringing Allen down in the backfield while being given multiple chances. Arizona Cardinals travel to Orchard Park to play Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. Arizona Cardinals will be outmatched on the defensive side of the ball throughout the 2024 season led by Budda Baker, Jalen Thompson, and Kyzir White. The best defense the Arizona Cardinals will have in 2024 is their rushing attack led by James Conner and rookie Trey Benson. Traveling to Buffalo in Week 1 to play Josh Allen and the Bills will be a tough test to start the 2024 season but, if the Cardinals can run the ball effectively, they could find themselves in a one-possession game down the stretch. The Cardinals must also score touchdowns and not have to settle for field goals while finally, they must keep Josh Allen in front of them and not let him run all over the defense. Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals offense struggled at times this season, while thriving other times. The collection of Murray, James Conner, Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr, Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch showed their true potential as they carved up opposing defenses for a good chunk of 2024. Arizona Cardinals were in full rebuild mode in 2023. It was Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon's first years, and Kyler Murray had a torn ACL that forced him to miss a large chunk of the season. They finished the season strong but still had massive holes in the roster. Ossenfort could have traded back in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft to accumulate draft capital and build out the depth on the roster, but he chose to take arguably the best player in the draft in Marvin Harrison Jr. That's the choice Monti Ossenfort made which, while bolstering the Cardinals offense immediately, also prolonged the rebuild process. With Week 1 in Buffalo just over a week away, the Cardinals roster is still not deep on the defensive side of the ball. Arizona Cardinals are in an interesting spot as Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season gets closer. In a late-night move, the Cardinals traded preseason standout Cameron Thomas to the Kansas City Chiefs for a seventh round pick, weakening an already weak pass rush room. This could mean a couple things: they didn't value Cameron Thomas/he could have been a cut candidate, they believe in Zaven Collins more than most, or they're paving the way for one big move before the start of the season. Could they trade for Haason Reddick? Could Yannick Ngakoue be an Arizona Cardinal? Could BOTH happen? While incredibly unlikely, Monti Ossenfort's path to success for the Arizona Cardinals is at a fork in the road. There are options to expedite the process. Will Ossenfort take advantage? Also, as of a couple weeks ago, Ryan Tannehill was the best free agent quarterback that could bolster the Cardinals quarterback room. Now, on cut day, there are many names flying around as trade candidates, namely Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley, both of whom are temporarily employed by the Cleveland Browns. While for some reason Tyler Huntley has been a hot name, he hasn't been relevant since his couple game hot stretch a few seasons ago. Jameis Winston, although volatile with his proclivity to turn the ball over, would give the Arizona Cardinals an immediate boost in the QB room before Week 1. The big question remains: will Monti Ossenfort make a move before the Cardinals travel to Buffalo for Week 1? Let's discuss.

Arizona Cardinals had an underwhelming preseason going 0-3 and not having much momentum on either side of the ball. Cardinals fans seem to have gone from "Playoff or Bust" post-draft to "add more players"  after the Cardinals fail to win a game in the preseason. Here's a list of players who didn't play in the preseason: Kyler Murray, James Conner, Trey McBride, Michael Dortch, Marvin Harrison Jr (played 3 snaps), Budda Baker, Jalen Thompson, Kyzir White, Mack Wilson, Paris Johnson Jr, Jonah Williams. Nothing has changed because we haven't seen ANY starters play. Understandably, the depth of the roster is under question and seems to have been exposed during the majority of the preseason. Remember, first off, there are zero NFL teams that are deep at every position. It's a statistical impossibility. Also, the only time we'd see third string players are if there's a wave of injuries to the starters. If the latter happens, the Cardinals aren't winning many games anyways, and obviously never hope for injuries for anyone to  begin with. With all that said, is Monti Ossenfort making mistakes? Arizona Cardinals defense is going to have an uphill battle to contend with the high-powered offenses they'll face from opposing teams during the majority of the Cardinals 2024 season. That uphill battle could become even tougher of rookie Darius Robinson misses some time. He was carted off during practice yesterday due to a calf injury. Arizona Cardinals will have their work cut out for them in 2024 with one of the toughest schedules of any of the 32 NFL teams. With many question marks and uncertainties on the defensive side of the ball, it puts much more pressure and expectation on the Cardinals offense to produce. After the 2022 NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals were in shambles. There was zero trust in the head coach and general manager, Kyler Murray had a torn ACL, and there was no fix to the problem in site. Years of failed drafts and overpriced free agents had put the Cardinals in a zero win situation, unless Michael Bidwill finally decided to make a change. He did. With Monti Ossenfort supplanting Steve Keim as GM, an entirely new thought process on how to construct and run a team came with him. Slow, steady, and a lot of the time, boring. Build through the draft. Sign key free agents at team-friendly contracts, and organically build a winner. That's exactly what he's doing. While the term "winning franchise" may be a year or so away, the groundwork that's being laid is through a  methodical, calculated approach. With second year players like Paris Johnson Jr and Michael Wilson positioned to take a leap in 2024, paired with rookies like Marvin Harrison Jr, Max Melton, Trey Benson, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and Xavier Thomas ready to make an impact starting in Week 1, the Arizona Cardinals are build just how Monti Ossenfort wanted. With that, a pleasant surprise of a player, Hjalte Froholdt, got a contract extended that will keep him wiht the Arizona Cardinals through the 2026 season. Slow and steady. Arizona Cardinals need to be as prepared as possible regarding roster depth as they head into the 2024 NFL season, a season where they're ready to take that jump back into relevancy. Kyler Murray has missed some time over his career, and the Cardinals have Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder as options to take over as QB1 if Kyler Murray were to miss time. It isn't good enough. One thing that cannot happen is, if Murray were to miss time, that this offseason slows down. Sure, anybody other than K1 running the offense would most likely see a regression in performance, but if the Cardinals bring in a veteran with an accomplished resume and similar skillset to Murray, they'll position themselves to keep the momentum going even if it's only on a 60-70% production basis. The perfect fit to back up Kyler Murray is former Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill. He's mobile, he's got a good arm, he's a consummate pro, and he's won big road playoff games in his career. He'd be a perfect addition to the Arizona Cardinals for 2024. A big name that isn't playing with his current team right now is Haason Reddick. While the Cardinals shouldn't consider trading for him then giving him a contract with $80 million guaranteed like he wants, a two-year deal like they gave JJ Watt would suffice. There's only one contract offer the Cardinals should offer Reddick if he were to become available. Let's discuss.

Arizona Cardinals lost their second preseason game in a row in Indianapolis against the Colts this past weekend. Yet, as a result, the outcome couldn't have been more perfect for the team as Week 1 of the 2024 NFL regular season draws closer. The game had everything: high highs, so many penalties, and continuing momentum for roster building purposes (both positive and negative). So why did a preseason loss yield the perfect outcome? Arizona Cardinals are well on their way to completing the full rebuild after starting over completely following the 2022 NFL season. The rebuild was sparked by, in part, Kyler Murray tearing his ACL midway through the 2022 season. Fast forward to today, Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy has surgery on his torn meniscus that will sideline him for the entire 2024 season. While awful for the young man, why does this matter for the Arizona Cardinals? Directly, it doesn't, but it also acts as a very important reminder to thise that have questioned Kyler Murray not playing in the 2024 preseason.....injuries can happen at any time, all the time. Obviously not a profound statement, it still puts things into perspective: none of this works without Kyler Murray on the playing field. Arizona Cardinals have gone through a lot of change over the last couple seasons. Second year head coach Jonathan Gannon has handled it all with nothing but grace. Arizona Cardinals played Jonathan Gannon football in Week 1 of the preseason: tough, hard, prepared. However, it wasn't all positive. There were a few players that didn't have their best performance this past weekend in the 16-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints. First, Desmond Ridder didn't have his best stuff playing while playing the entire first half. Although playing against more starters than Clayton Tune did during his play in the second half, Ridder struggled. Throwing just 4-9 for 42 yards while adding 39 yards on the ground on 5 carries, he didn't look comfortable in his first action in Drew Petzing's offense. Next, Elijah Wilkinson struggled. A talking point when he played left guard last year as part of a duo with he and DJ Humphries was definitely a weak spot for the 2023 Arizona Cardinals. That trend carried over to the Cardinals first action of 2024. He got beat regularly off the line giving Ridder not much time to make anything happen. Rookie Isaiah Adams didn't show incredible lasting power either from the left guard position in his first action as an NFL player. Also, Trey Benson, while getting the bulk of the work early on, only managed 21 yards on 8 carries. A very small sample size, sure, and playing against a tougher defense than Michael Carter II did, sure, but it was just an ok performance by Benson. Arizona Cardinals preseason Week 1 had its ups and downs. The ups were great and the downs were, well, not so great. Focusing on the positives of Week 1, Darius Robinson wowed. Although only playing 11 snaps, he showed that he's ready for NFL action right away. Also, cornerback Darren Hall and EDGE Xavier Thomas both showed they may be sneaky contributors to the Cardinals right away. Now, of course it's the preseason and things must be taken lightly initially, but if the trend continues throughout the preseason, both players might find themselves in more prominent roles than originally expected. Plus, Michael Carter II showed he's still a talented and quick running back who should definitely be a part of the final 53 man roster for the Arizona Cardinals as they head to Buffalo for Week 1. Arizona Cardinals will be shorthanded defensively with BJ Ojulari out for the year after an ACL tear in practice last week. The Cardinals defense is young, hungry, and will be incredibly prepared under head coach Jonathan Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis. After 2023 that showed what the stencil of the defense would be moving forward, an infusion of talent has the defense a big step forward from last year. They're just still severely undermanned talent wise. When undermanned, there are three players who need to step up in 2024 to keep the Arizona Cardinals defense afloat. These three players play different positions but are intertwined in a sense that, if all three take a big step forward, the Cardinals defense could be better than anticipated. Who are the three players? Most importantly, Kyzir White. He's the heartbeat of the defense and has the skillset to elevate not only himself but the players around him. Second, Sean Murphy-Bunting. The elder statesman in the cornerback room, SMB has the potential to level up the cornerback room that will put the entire team forward at a faster trajectory than expected. Arizona Cardinals will suffer with BJ Ojulari now on IR and to miss the entire 2024 season after tearing his ACL during training camp late last week. After showing great bursts towards the end of his rookie season, Ojulari was set to be the lead pass rusher for the Cardinals in 2024. Now that he's out for the year, the pass rush room is even more thin than it already was. Arizona Cardinals training camp is in full swing and we're inching closer to Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. Training camp has everything a fan wants so far: Marvin Harrison Jr, Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and Trey McBride are all making great catches, Kyler Murray seems to be on the same page with them and comfortable in the offense, and the young secondary of Garrett Williams, Max Melton, Elijah Jones, and Sean Murphy-Bunting seem to be molding into shape. Here's the thing, though. While this is great, and it is. While the mometum is high and the spirits are all positive, which they should be.....we're in overreaction time. This is when there are massive statements made in the national media one way or the other, all the while players haven't even put pads on yet. So while the 2024 season for the Arizona Cardinals is going to be wildly exciting and should be popcorn-watching appointment television, monitoring excitement and expectations is the rational approach here. Also, what has Kyler Murray looked like at camp? Are there any tendencies of his that we're continuing to see? Finally, respect Budda Baker. Arizona Cardinals enter training camp a transformed franchise. They've got the new regime of Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon entering year two, Kyler Murray is fully healthy, and the roster has been infused with talent throughout. Arizona Cardinals start training camp next week and they're in a position to completely changing the history of the organization. Step one starts Monday. While there are myriad storylines that have made the 2024 offseason so exciting, there are three that are under the spotlight during Cardinals training camp. First, the connection between Kyler Murray and rookie standout wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. What's set to be an incredible story to tell over the next several seasons, Murray and MHJ's rapport will need to be built through hard work, repetition, and organic building of trust. The 2024 Arizona Cardinals is completely unrecognizable compared to the history of the Cardinals organization. Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon have set the stage for Kyler Murray to lead and thrive. Murray has been very present and his growth is undeniable not only as a leader, but as a person. He looks to be having more fun than ever, while building a family that's poised to jump back into relevancy come 2024 and not go anywhere for a while. There are so many things fans can feel comfortable going "all-in" about, and those are a few. With that, pumping the breaks is necessary still. Things are better than they've been in a long time for the Arizona Cardinals heading into a season, but that doesn't mean that playoffs are on the menu for 2024. There are still many unknowns on this roster, mainly rookie and second-year players and how they'll impact the team this season. Regardless of it's "all-in" or "pumping the breaks" on certain aspects of the team looking forward to the 2024 NFL season, one thing is for sure: good things are on the horizon.

Arizona Cardinals have a very difficult schedule in 2024. They play the likes of the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Greeen Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Miami Dolphins all within the first 2+ months of the NFL season.
