WALKIN HTX #6 Secret Hacks to Make Your Move to Houston Texas LESS STRESSFUL
Épisode 6
dimanche 17 juillet 2022 • Durée 20:39
Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In today’s episode I do a deep dive into Secret Hacks to Make Your Move to Houston Texas LESS STRESSFUL. Today we're going to focus on some of those things you need to prepare yourself before moving to Houston. Not only have I moved to Houston twice. But I also moved from Idaho to Portland once, I've had a few moves in my day and for those who've moved before, a lot of this is going to make sense. But there's also some incredible tips and tricks on saving money and making sure you know what's going on. There's a lot of unique things about Texas that are going to catch you off guard. First is saving money, I'm starting to learn. Is it really an awful way to go? You got you pay for what you get and I'm not sitting here saying go out and spend thousands but make sure that you hire professional movers like an actual moving company. I had a pretty bad experience now and you don't want to miss hearing it from here. So my first tip is just really to add the least amount of stress. Hire some professional movers, spend the extra money because if you do it yourself, first of all, you and your spouse are going to do it. You're going to fight, punch and probably get divorced and hate each other because moving stuff sucks. The next thing that you need to think about is what are your goals? A lot of people like ohh should I rant, should I buy, it really boils down to you and you. And if you can buy or if you can't buy, then don't. And we're starting to see as of right now, it's the middle of July. Interest rates have gone up a bit. And that has kind of putting a little bit of fear into the United States right now, and people are kind of holding back from buying because the interest rates just went up. And a lot of the professionals are talking about how interest rates may go back down into three years, so you can refinance. I don't know if that'll happen or not. It could go up. But if you have a goal of moving here and buying a house. The net per month can be factored into where you either buy less of a house or you just factor in 500 extra dollars a month.
You got to focus on just getting here and and having a team that takes care of it like a concierge service. This is something too that we work with agents all around the country we work with the top relocation agents because one of the biggest mistakes in moving here is people will just use a friend who doesn't do much real estate and and doesn't focus on relocation. They will just put you in the contract, sell your house and then not do anything after that. They won't call or contact us, they won't get title to contact our title and we've had clients do that. But if you need help finding a top agent who understands relocation, that's something you can tell us too, and we can help you find a top relocation agent there because you do not want this to mess up. This is the biggest part of your life, and it's stressful as hell. And having any kind of hiccups like that is just brutal, and it's deflating, so I don't want to scare you in any way. This is what we do. We are professionals at and we absolutely love it.
We work with clients from all over the world that are relocating here and we ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Reach out to us day/night/weekends ANYTIME because we got your back when moving to Houston Texas!

WALKIN HTX #5 Top 5 Best Areas to Live in Houston Texas
Épisode 5
vendredi 15 juillet 2022 • Durée 18:47
Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In today’s episode I do a deep dive into Top 5 Best Areas to Live in Houston Texas. We are going to discuss some of those best areas to live in Houston, TX. We are not allowed to steer you in any way by talking about the best areas. So what I like to do is go to niche.com and I take their list they rank it for all different types of reasons such as income level, safety, crime, all that and it's all public information, I like to take their list. It's really not the way that I would rank it, but it does a really good job of explaining a bunch of different areas, some in the north, some in the east, South and the West. That way you can have an understanding of some of these areas that will fit you. And most importantly, some of these areas that you're going to hate to live and we like doing that ruling some of these areas out. And I will tell you stories of why certain clients have moved to certain areas.
Let's start off with number five or one of the first ones. This is an area in the southeast section of Houston, TX. It's called League City. If you look down there, there's League City there's Dickinson those areas I would say anywhere in that Southeast area. You're going to be able to stretch the budget the most. And still get really good air and a place to live. I moved to Houston, TX back in 2009 from Idaho to work on power lines, now you know I moved back for the second time a few years ago cause we just freaking love Texas. But when we moved here the first time we actually lived down in Dickinson, down in League City area. It was not developed. Even just ten years ago most of the area down there was just older style homes. I'm not 100% positive, but when you look at the tax rates and stuff, I believe League City is one of the lowest. So you're not going to have the highest property taxes down there yet. The number 4 on the list would be over to the West is Sugarland. If you go online and look at school rankings, and if you're number one goal in life when moving to Houston, TX is schools. Then it's the end of story from what I've heard from the locals that's kind of like the best schools now. Everybody fights me and were saying like "She's the best oh Woodlands, the best. They're all great. They're all amazing." They all have top areas, so when you look at school rankings it's going to completely deter you from moving to the right area. I've heard that from people as they only looked at a rating online. And then they moved to the wrong area. And yet there's incredible schools everywhere, so school rankings can be a little misleading sometimes online, but I am blown away with Sugarland. You're gonna read about it, great schools, great everything. If you need to be in the southwest corner, it's amazing. Then number 3 on the list is an area that really is becoming one of our clients top go to areas I have my favorite spots and they don't hit the top five, so maybe I'll talk about them. But Cyprus. You're right in the Cy Fair School districts. Again, highly coveted school system. There's so many different school districts, it's hard but Cyprus is nice, and the coolest part is you're really out of all these areas the closest to downtown Houston. So number 2 on the list is just one of those no brainers it's Katy TX. It was the number one place for me and my wife, it's amazing. You're just far out to the West, but I get it like top schools $70 million football stadiums. You have theme parks there water, water parks, top restaurants, golf courses galore you've got everything you could ever imagine in one community, and I know that people who live there, they rave about it. Now It was actually ranked the number one place to live in the United States of America and that's The Woodlands TX. You will pay the most money there, but you get what you pay for. People just are moving there in droves and waves because they got to have it. If we go anywhere in the Houston area that's not downtown. We go to The Woodlands, the most shops, most concert venues and the most shopping are. You have the parks down there. You got cool trolleys that take you everywhere. The master plan communities and the neighborhoods are just gorgeous.

WALKIN HTX #4 Crazy $hit Only People From Houston Texas Know [CAN YOU HANDLE THEM!]
Épisode 4
mercredi 13 juillet 2022 • Durée 17:28
Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In todays episode I do a deep dive into Crazy $hit Only People From Houston Texas Know. How do you handle craziness? Today we are talking about what those Houstonians know that US outsiders have no clue about. What is it like to live in Houston, TX and just Texas in general. It's such a different culture. I always describe it like its own country. There's just things here that they just completely throw you off guard. Yes, it's amazing. I love living in Texas and the people here and every day is just a surprise. So I want to kind of take you down from the perspective of somebody who's not born and raised Texas. The first thing I want to discuss is when you move here and start driving, you're going to notice quickly that since everything is 2 hours away going 85 in a 65 is almost going too slow for Houstonian. I am a slower driver. I'd like to go the speed limit and when you hit that Beltway and the speed limits 65 or 70, I'll go touch over 4 miles an hour or so, I go way too slow for these people. It's crazy you will go 4 miles hour over the speed limit and it's like you're standing still. These people really drive fast in Texas. One thing is the power bill here I've talked about this in my channel a few times and the only reason I bring it up is because I've just never heard of this. I used to be a journeyman lineman so I worked on power lines and worked with power companies and everywhere I've lived. Before you pay the power company each month right for you for your bill. When I got here, they let you choose your power and I'm like what do you mean choose my power like don't I just pay the power company? Yes, pay the power company but there's other companies that deliver the power and flabbergasted. So you have to go and do all this crazy research. Chose Texas power com and you start shopping and then you'll spend like 7 years trying to go through all these plans and you have to download all the PDF's and read all the small print, the fine print and you might see one right off the gate. That's $0.12 a kWh and that's the cheapest you find. But you look at the small print and that's only for the 1st 500 kilowatt hours and then 500 through 1000 goes to 15 and it's this escalation. And if you got a big *** house like. You know 3500 square foot in a pool and some are in AC. You're running like 2500 watts a month. Like yeah, your bill is going to be outrageous. Trust me. My first bill was through the roof.
Now it is about flowers and trees. We got a lot of deciduous trees that lose leaves and they grow again and I never really was that affected by allergies like I'd never have been a kid who's like never really got hit with allergies that hard. This year especially was really bad. But each year around April or so, when we really start getting that that bloom here, the oak trees and everything just starts going, you're going to see this yellow film, they call it like the Houston snow. The pollen is so thick that you can physically just see it like a cloud and this year was the one of the worst. I keep getting these little mini ear infection type things and if they're nasal infections they hit my ears. They hurt for a day or two. I've just never experienced that and the you will really get hit with Paul in here and then. African Sahara dust or something this dust that comes up through the Gulf from Africa and and it's another one so it's not like it kills you. The next thing is the bugs. I mean everybody talks about it and you hear them. The snakes and cockroaches, I'll be brutally honest when I move here because I am deathly afraid of snakes. So when I moved here, I remember walking around and I was always looking at the ground I thought like Oh my God, I'm in Texas, there's gonna be snakes like everywhere I look so I would like walk into things because I was like that scared of it. Now I'm gonna probably jinx myself but knock on wood it's not like that. The only time I've actually seen snakes there is some bayous right around us that we go fishing in and you'll see we're just water snakes out there. The other little silent killer is these microscopic little fire ants. They come out hot and heavy. You don't even know they're on you. Next thing you know it feels like your foot's on fire. Again, what they do is they'll they'll bite you and you get this little red bump and then, like a day or two later, it turns into a pimple. It has a white head. The property taxes can be really, really high comparative to a lot of different states. Some states people are like that ain't blah blah, but for me it was a big shock. But there's a few things you can do to kind of mitigate or lower the property taxes because every year it goes off in appraised value, and then there's a tax rate. So obviously we don't have state income tax and so it's a way that they're getting taxes for roads, schools all that. There's certain cities that have lower tax rates. Sometimes you just got to be where you got to be, and and you take it on the chin. Kind of, but. Every year what they do is they do this kind of just general appraisal on your house and what they're going to do is take kind of comps in the area and just assess your home value.

WALKIN HTX #3 PROS AND CONS of Living in Houston Texas (110 degree in JUNE)
Épisode 3

Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In today’s episode I do a deep dive into PROS AND CONS of Living in Houston Texas. Thinking about moving to Houston, Texas? Wanting to know those pros and cons I was talking about it yesterday. It's the middle of June and it's hotter than ever we've had a little bit of a drought issue here this year. . During the Texas freeze a year and a half ago some of my pipes burst in my whole backyard's turf anyways, so I just have this little front yard spot. And I remember last summer in August I started just running a little handheld sprinkler because it was starting to get a little brown on the old edge, a little crisp. Sometimes you move here just like this place is so big, and that's one of the pros wait to cross see. It's the real walk and talk that's one of the pros and cons. It's really split down. The middle is the weather. And right now it's middle of June. It's hot, in fact, this weekend they're calling for record temperatures, so the temperature is going to be 100 to 102 degrees. That's not including the heat index, the humidity. It is unbelievable and that's what I'm like. It's for real and you know everybody. Especially the locals are like. It gets a little hot summer I'm just walking right now and I am like soaked. You know what's crazy about it? Is as you look around there's like a lot of people out walking in this stuff. I think they got it figured out. They're like, oh, I can just go for a 20 minute walk. It'd be like sitting in a sauna for three hours. I'll get all my sweat out and move on. One thing with the heat you'll notice down here. Because I again was from Idaho, so we got like 7 seconds of summer and and as soon as like 60 degrees shirts are off. But last year was not like this last year a lot more rain. We were praying for rain now. And it just hit, It was like 3 weeks ago the weather was perfect It was like mid 80s at the highest dropped down in the 60s at night, so you could sit out in the patio. There's more to be caught off guard here in this episode!

WALKIN HTX #2 Best Areas to Live in Houston Texas… Don’t Choose the WRONG Area
Épisode 2
samedi 9 juillet 2022 • Durée 18:20
Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In todays episode I do a deep dive into the Best Areas to Live in Houston Texas…Don’t Choose the WRONG Area. When we are moving to one area, one of the hardest things to do is try and figure out where is the best place to live. Like moving in Houston, Texas. You have to realize that there's obviously downtown Houston and a lot of you are searching Houston, but that's not a main focal point of people's attention. Now the majority of our clients and people we are helping are those moving to Houston purchasing homes and it's 99% of the time in the surrounding areas of Houston. That is what I'm going to talk about today, some of these areas that people are choosing, the stories of why they're choosing them. So that you're going to be able to start understanding what that area kind of fits me and those areas I would hate living there that's what's gonna help you ultimately decide the best area for you to live in Houston.
We'll start North, East, South, West and I'm just going to describe a couple areas that a lot of our clients are choosing that I have friends in who lives there who doesn't? So right out of the gate that brings me if we're starting north, The Woodlands, TX. This probably has the most eyeballs on it. A lot of people are searching and researching it. It's on niche.com as the number one place to live in the nation. So it's got a lot of attention and it's pretty cool up there. But The Woodlands has basically the most to offer its residents. A cool little downtown with tons of shops. It has an indoor mall and across the street is an outdoor mall. This ginormous Green Park trolleys like Mr. Rogers for free that cruise through big movie theaters. It even has this big amphitheater. Now if you head down south of that, but still on the north side of Houston there's two areas and one of them probably has the most attention from our clients and it's Cypress. Now it's kind of a little bit northwest, and even when I moved here a couple of years ago, me and Joe started the YouTube channel and we started helping clients move here. Joe hadn't even really been to the Cypress area in 5-10 years. And we're driving through there and he's like holy ****. This was all farm fields like 10 years ago and now you got Bridgeland. You got town lakes, some of the most gorgeous master plan communities ever. I've talked about this in my YouTube videos. We helped a lot just by giving our honest opinions and you won't miss this episode!

Are you wondering what it is like to live in Houston Texas? Well, this is the channel you need! We absolutely love this town and our #1 goal is to showcase every inch of the Houston Metro through our videos so you have a complete understanding of the best area that fits your lifestyle!
In todays episode I do a deep dive into Your Moving to Houston, Texas… And it’s Scary as Hell!! This is a new podcast that I'm starting where I have moved myself to Houston, Texas, not only once but twice, and I'm going to give you the inside perspective of what it is truly like to live here in Texas. This whole podcast is going to be formulated for figuring out the best areas to live when moving here. Which each area where you can get to walk through and go enjoy a lot with your family. It's the middle of June, the first day and the start of summer that seems to be the one of the craziest topics that we talk about a lot. And the questions that I get is the d*mn heat. Now. It's warm probably easily 90 dedrees something with the humidity. And this year has been worse than every other. For the past three weeks, I think it's been 100 degrees plus every day. The majority of the people moving to Texas is example you've got a new job here and you've got to move. Well for me, I got this job where I can kind of work and live wherever and I'm seeing those big beautiful homes for a fraction of the cost from where I'm from. I've got more of my stories to share with you and you don't want to missed it!
