Secret to a Happy Life - Do Hard Things...Together18 Feb 202600:43:46

In this Valentine’s-month special, we sit down with Benjamin & Janelle—a couple we met at Spitfire Ultra and then kept spotting at other Eastern Idaho races (Over The Top, Palisades, River of No Return, and more). We talk about what people don’t tell you about running as a couple: the pace differences, the agreements, the “I’ll see you at the finish line” reality… and how support often happens behind the scenes (planning, nutrition, logistics, and yes—spreadsheets). In this interview, you’ll hear:✅ How their running journey started (cross country → trail racing)✅ Why they usually don’t race side-by-side (and why that works)✅ How they handle different strengths, moods, and rough miles✅ The quiet truth: sometimes encouragement is just presence✅ Their funniest Spitfire moment (blood, a wave, and “don’t bleed out”)✅ Their favorite post-race reward: food rituals (potatoes + cookies included)✅ Why Spitfire keeps pulling them back: small race energy, community vibe, early-season challenge, and running terrain you normally can’t access✅ Their life wisdom: “Do hard stuff… together.”If you’re a couple who runs together (or wants to), this episode will give you real insight—and a few laughs—about how to make it work without turning it into a relationship stress-test.📅 Race Day: April 18, 2026 (3rd Saturday of April)📝 Register + Info: www.SpitfireUltra.com👕 Swag Deadline: Register by Thursday night (orders placed Friday) for hoodie/tee swag.Challenge: Share this with one person you want beside you in hard things—training partner, spouse, best friend, coworker, whoever. Then come be part of the Spitfire community.

It's been 1462 days since I found my voice, grew my wings, and learned to laugh.

We're back with our friend Melissa Benson whose first episode shared her story of losing her sight in her early 20's and the challenges she got to overcome. In part 2, Melissa once again shows off her spunky attitude and freely shares her infectious laugh as she shares a darker side of her story.   Through sharing her experience of domestic violence and how she was able to remove herself from the situation, Melissa reminds us to believe in ourselves, ask for help, and to shine as brightly as you are intended. Since our first podcast conversation Melissa is really coming into her own and stepping more into the disabilities world and sharing her talents and stories  in various venues. Sharing her story of domestic abuse is one of those area she is learning to shed light on and we give a huge thank you for her courage to start sharing her story right here on the Living Courageously Exposed podcast.  Melissa's new words of wisdom are to Upgrade your life every 6 months, know that weak spots happen,  all wounds heal, and Laugh.

Carol Sevy - Come What May and Love It!23 Mar 201900:56:59

What would you do if you were given one week to live?

Meet Carol Sevy...a mom, a wife, a blogger, and amongst other things...A happy girl!

Carol is on a mission to let older adults know that just because you're older doesn't mean it's time to stop. She strongly feels that it's time to keep reaching for the "gold medals" you wanted to attain as a younger person and she is proving this for herself.  As a child, Carol was shy and clever and learned how to get what she wanted, although maybe not always in the healthiest ways. She didn't attend college because she didn't want to fail and be embarrassed.  As an adult she would learn of her dyslexia and would become and amazing reader as she home schooled her children.

In 2015, Carol would be faced with her biggest challenger! This challenger would cause her to experience many bald headed moments, which she would later use for the title of her TEDx Rexburg presentation. Carol would truly discover the gifts of being a happy girl and how it can heal.  She realized that everything she did mattered and learned how to provide extreme self-care. Carol reminds us to Learn Forever and Don't Give Up! Keep reaching for the gold. Then the next one. And the next...

You can find and share your own "bald headed moments" on Carol's Instagram...Bald Headed Moments

Michelle Corrao - Hope was not in my vocabulary11 Feb 201900:49:49

Michelle was not a dreamer but rather a peacemaker as a child. She loved art and had the gift of Mr. Jacquay, her art teacher, who saw her potential and encouraged her. Michelle learned early, the value of connection and wondered what she could do make a difference in the world. Finally in her early 30's she felt life was finally going great...and then September 12th happened. Her nightmare happened when the trunk opened and when fear, denial and anger became her best friends.

Michelle would have to learn to know and love herself and used journaling and learning to walk through her fear, as a few of the tools, that would eventually end the nightmare.

Michelle is now the assistant director of Prevail, a victim awareness and support program she has been part of for 18 years. Michelle also uses her experience to lift others as a speaker across the nation. To contact Michelle visit michellecorrao.com or find her on Facebook.  When you contact her, please tell her hi from Jennifer Saunders.

The Hidden Protectors Keeping You Stuck – And How to Set Yourself Free! March 19, 202521 Mar 202501:35:58

🔥 Why do we shrink ourselves for others' comfort?🔥 How do fear, judgment, and unspoken expectations hold us back?🔥 What happens when you finally own your truth—fully and unapologetically? In this raw and unscripted episode of Living Courageously Exposed, Jennifer and Ligia dive deep into self-trust, silent oppression, and breaking free from the stories that keep us small. We often hold ourselves back—not because we aren’t capable, but because we’ve been conditioned to believe we shouldn’t take up space. As we unravel these hidden fears, we explore the role of protectors—the parts of us that show up in fear, silence, or resistance. These inner voices were created to keep us safe, but at what cost? They stop us from stepping into our power, sharing our stories, and fully living in our truth.🔑 Key Takeaways:1️⃣ Recognizing Silent Oppression in Your LifeMany of us subconsciously shrink to fit expectations set by family, culture, or societal conditioning. This might look like avoiding conflict, downplaying desires, or believing we need to "earn" our worth. We break down how these silent agreements shape identity and how to reclaim your space.2️⃣ Your Protectors Are Keeping You StuckEver held back from speaking up, making a bold move, or even self-sabotaging? That’s your protectors at work—inner voices of doubt, defensiveness, or hesitation. While they once shielded us, they can now keep us small. Learn how to shift these from limitations to empowerment.3️⃣ Breaking Free from the Need to ‘Earn’ Your WorthDo you delay joy, waiting until you’ve “done enough” to deserve it? Ligia shares a personal moment of battling guilt over a simple paint set—a metaphor for how we deny ourselves happiness. The truth? Your worth is inherent. You don’t need permission to enjoy your life.4️⃣ Resistance Means You’re on the Edge of a BreakthroughFear and doubt aren’t signs to stop—they’re proof you’re growing. When resistance shows up, it means you’re stepping into something bigger. Instead of retreating, lean into it. Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s moving forward despite it.5️⃣ The Power of Slowing Down & Listening to Your BodyOur culture glorifies hustle, but what happens when your body says “no more”? Ligia shares how her body literally forced her to slow down, sending her a clear message: Listen. Healing and growth require presence. Your body already knows the truth—it’s up to you to hear it.🎧 Listen in and ask yourself:What’s really holding me back? What stories, fears, or beliefs have I accepted as truth?
