Contemporary Materials week. A peek behind the scenes into this fun episode of All That Glitters. David and Emma talk about the ‘Bestseller’ challenge to make a Statement Brooch and the ‘Bespoke’ challenge of the Architectural Ear Cuff for client Elliot, who is deaf and looking for an ear cuff that celebrates this important part of him. The Bestseller Emma and David reveal the inspiration behind their City of Birmingham inspired designs. David focused in on the BT tower and the myriad of domed shapes protruding from it, whilst Emma looked backwards to the story of a brave but ultimately disgraced soldier, George Ravenhill (V.C.) who was stripped of his Victoria Cross. The Bespoke David and Emma talk about their ear cuff designs and how they felt about using contemporary materials alongside the more traditional metals they are used to working with.
