All through the Old Testament we see broken and estranged families.  The story of Joseph is one of those.  We need to learn from the failings of these people so that we don't let our brokenness stay the way it is.  We need to have grace and look for the redemption in all these situations.

Paul said in his letter to the Philippians that their God is their stomachs and their destiny is destruction. The bible is clear that there is nothing wrong with a feast as long as its for the right reason and all is invited to His table.  Jesus is our Bread of Life and is meant to share with all.

In the Gospel of Mark were told how Jesus healed ten lepers and sent them to the priest but one came back immediately to thank and praise Jesus for what he had done.  We need to remember the blessings in our lives and be aware of where they come from and be thankful.

Traditions are great but they can end up becoming your religion instead of what they were intended for.  Make sure and keep Jesus as the focus in all your traditions.

We are starting a new series dealing with Paul's work in Corinth.  He had to overcome many obstacles in order to get the people of Corinth to listen to him.  The city was known for its depraved lifestyle and false religions and he had to get through the Jewish synagogues as well.

God calls imperfect people to do His will.  We hear throughout the old testament how true that statement is. It seems that much of the time these faults are passed down from father to son causing generations of sins.

Humans are good about letting their past sins and failures define them and weigh them down like an anchor.  We need to believe though that Jesus' crucifixion was the sacrifice for our sins and that we are forgiven.  God has put our sins as far from Him as the east is from the west and we need to do that as well.

Messiah and kingship were closely linked in the Old Testament.
