| #401 - Kissing is Taboo Again? - Elevator Speeches & Safety | 24 Dec 2023 | 01:06:30 | |
How did kissing become so complicated... again? Swinger culture still features a choice, to kiss or not to kiss, that other non-monogamous folk don't usually make. These days, the stakes around kissing are higher, and that's complicated things as simple as kissing to say hello . Ginger, Prof, Tonia, Dylan, Lunabelle, Tonya, and Tyler get together to talk about their Elevator Speeches, and whether kissing is taboo again!

| #400 - ReEmergence | 03 Dec 2023 | 01:04:06 | |
Dylan, Ginger, Tonia, and Prof get back together to properly toast Life on the Swingset's 400th episode! The crew invites back Lunabelle, Tyler, and Tonya, and welcomes D into the fold to discuss ReEmergence and discovering intimacy… again. The crew discusses what returning to normal might look like during a time … very much not normal. D, and Lunabelle share what emerging and finding their people and their communities in the midst of the pandemic feels like, while Tyler and Tonya talk about finding their way just before, and during the pandemic. Gin, Prof, Tonia, and Dylan talk about change, allowing for space, and everyone looks forward to charting a future full of friends, community, and pleasure. Also, Prof talks about VR Golf, which was the most important part of the episode.

| SS 391: The Desire Mid-Week Check-In, featuring Co-Hosts Mike Joseph and Keeley! | 01 Mar 2022 | 00:58:07 | |
We made it to Desire in 2021 and decided to take the temperature of the room… the very, very hot room that we couldn't turn the air conditioning on in because it would have ruined the recording environment. Cooper, Dylan, and Tonia along with guest co-hosts Mike Joseph and Keeley get together and check in with each other, and the attendees, and see what being in Desire in these trying times means to them.

| SS 302: Making Room in Life for the Things That Matter | 07 Oct 2017 | 01:00:11 | |
Sometimes we lose sight of some of the people and some of the things that matter in ourlives. Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, and Dylan Thomas get together and figure out how to recognize it, how it happens, and how to pull everything back together. Dr. Liz also takes some time to relay some con business while Dylan mentions his newly unlocked "double flogging" achievement.
Dr. Liz mentions the Sinha Intensive/Expansive Framework, developed by Leela Sinha, M. Div. You can find Your Not Too Much: Intensive Lives in an Expansive World on Amazon. | SS 301: Gang Bang the Mailbag 34 - Inquiring Swingers Want to Know | 26 Sep 2017 | 01:09:40
Tonight, Madam Fierce joins the Mike Joseph, Dirty Lola, and Dylan to re-open the mailbag once again to give it the gang bang it deserves. The crew answers questions on the difference between swinging and polyamory, breaking up with another swing couple, swinging with too much enthusiasm, single male swingers, and first time swinging hiccups.
Question 1: Hi guys, this is to all of you, though maybe first to Dylan, who seems to particularly enjoy contemplating these things. I have been been listening to your podcasts since 2011, and have enjoyed the entire run. What I have been struggling with intellectually is what differentiates swinging from polyamory. My wife and I have recently had acouples' experience which I think has cleared this up, at least for me. I am the introspective one in the relationship (she tends act quickly based on gut feelings of comfort, and chuckles at my additional ruminating), so this is really from the Mr. We've been pretty successful with swinging / casual hookups, though Two things have happened recently that have changed things a bit. First, my wife has maintained an online friendship with a single man since last spring, which I whole heartedly support, she's making plans to see him soon. Secondly, we recently met a couple where I quickly developed a strong emotional connection with the wife. My wife has enjoyed the husband's company, but clearly isn't interested in anything more than casual. My wife supports my exploring this. So, then, how to define what it is that we seem to be getting into? We areboth (probably) trying out hall passes, meeting folks one on one before the other has met them, and acknowledging at least one developing emotional connection with someone outside our relationship.
Question 2: I was hoping you could give my wife and I some advice. My wife and I had talked about swinging for about a year before we actually met and played with our first couple. They checked so many of our boxes for a first encounter that we felt very fortunate to have met them. The first time happened and was a reasonably good time. Not great by any means, but we didn't have any regrets as we popped our cherrys so to speak and we're both giddy for a month after. We discussed the apparent compatibility issues right away. We decided to take another crack at the full swap with the same couple a month or so later to rule out nervousness. The second encounter allowed us another opportunity to hone in on the things that both did and didn't work for us. We had all but decided that this couple wasn't a compatible fit for us and although round 2 was better, we were still too far away from what we wanted. Unfortunately, we went in for a third time, because we are slutty and it was easy to do. Now the question:
Question 3: I'm a 39-yr old woman & new to all of this although I've been very much wanting to explore my bisexual & naughty sides for quite some time…, got a new boyfriend, he's 32, bisexual & we've been together for 1 month, already practically living together & saying the "L" word. He's experienced in the swinging lifestyle (although it's been awhile) & is thrilled that I'm wanting/willing to try some new things with him. We've made a couples profile on 3 different sites & had 1 threesome already. The problem is, I'm wanting to take it slow when it comes to women & couples ~ need to find the right person that I feel comfortable with and trust (to kinda get me past that nervousness hump) & he's all gung-ho about meeting people ASAP & making things happen, to the point of fiendish obsession (from my point of view, anyway). He's constantly on swinger sites, viewing profiles, suggesting potential action to me, and I'm rather picky, especially if I finally break into girl-on-girl play. It's made me feel insecure, especially now that he's done most of the negotiation and now has started deleting messages, so I said something about it. We talked, he agreed he was moving too fast, but now I fear that I'm being petty. Is this venture between him & I doomed? I'm not 100% sure what my boundaries are and I know I can't be the only woman on the planet to have unwelcome territorial feelings & insecurities crop up when first starting out. How can I overcome that? I really want to do this, and I want to do it with this man. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Question 4: Hi Swingset, love your Swinging for Beginning series and hope to hear more in the future. My wife and I tried NonMonogamy. It went great for her, it was disasterous for me. We made some mistakes that culminated in us ending up in an unintentional cuckold arrangement. I'm faced with moving through the swinger community as a single male and I'm not sure how. Single female swingers are few and far between and single men are plentiful and often faced with limited or expensive access to clubs and other spaces. The swinger community is pretty anti-single male, I have no clue how to survive being one. I'm segregated from the community I want to be a part of and I don't how how to proceed. Help!
Question 5: We had our first experience at an on premise party last weekend. Our rules going in were no penetration, whatever we do it's together - constant touching of each other and at the first sign of discomfort we bail and regroup. The biggest insecurities both had was getting into a situation and being ignored. Unfortunately, the hubby drank way too much! We met a nice couple we were both comfortable with and stuck a pin in them for later, we then met another couple we liked and took the action upstairs. We started playing together but the my hubby seemed disconneted. The original couple came upstairs and my hubby went off with the wife. The rest of the night we moved independently, hubby with other women, me with other men and women. The party ended, we went back to our rooms and ended up with more activity in which I felt ignored. My hubby's been apologizing ever since, he feels horrible and can't explain his actions. I feel like I should have ended things the first moment I felt ignored but I didn't. We're both confused and aren't sure how to proceed. Should we go out again but watch the drinking? Should we both be more free to speak up?

| SS 300.1: Post 300th Episode Orgasm Nap | 13 Sep 2017 | 00:01:21 | |
Hello Swingset Fans! We're taking a short break, episode 300 took an immense amount of effort to prepare: From recording -actually live- with an almost hundred person audience to publishing it via an audio and video podcast, to normal scheduling shenanigans... we think it's well deserved. Cooper's going to take a short break from the Swingset, he deserves it, so we've manned the Swingset Battle Bridge, separated the saucer section, and made plans for the rest of the crew to carry on in the last hostile takeover of the Swingset ever. While we'll look forward to his return, we've also released a little piece of Swingset history: a transcript of our first episode from 2010 titled "Dipping a Toe In - How to Start Swinging". You can find it at lifeontheswingset.com, just ... be gentle, we'd like to think we've grown since then. In the meantime, thanks for swinging by, and see you next week.

| SS 299: Foreplay and Changing Ideas of Sex | 03 Sep 2017 | 01:09:15 | |
When people think of sex, they generally assume there's penile penetration, probably into a vagina, and that everything leading up to that penetration is foreplay. It's a very narrow view, but it's a view that stubbornly persists into non-monogamy. Tonight, on our #roadto300, we consider this episode on foreplay as foreplay. Dirty Lola, Dr. Liz Powell, Dylan Thomas, and Cooper S. Beckett get together to discuss foreplay and redefinition of what constitutes sex.

It is always risky, telling people what you're into, what you want, that you like them, but as we've found out it's often essential in getting anywhere in non-monogamy and in life. Tonight Dirty Lola, Cooper S. Beckett, Dr. Liz Powell, and Dylan Thomas discuss how to put yourself out there and how to take it when others do the same.

| SS 295: Mortality | 19 Jul 2017 | 01:11:55 | |
Most of us, especially when young, hope that death will never come, or at least not for a really really long time, and that can mean being unprepared when it does. Difficulties with visitation, inheritance, and others are issues ignored at our own peril. Dr. Liz Powell talks personally and painfully about Elliot, a partner recently and unexpectedly deceased, and along with Dylan Thomas, Mike Joseph, Dirty Lola, and Cooper S. Beckett, discusses issues surrounding death, picking up the pieces in life, and dealing with grief.

| SS 294: Game Changers: When Awesome People Upset our Carefully Planned Lives | 15 Jul 2017 | 01:21:05 | |
Non-monogamy definitely ups the ante on BUSY, which causes many of us to try to organize and plan our lives as carefully as possible. We say things like "I'm not going to date anyone new right now, or like some fool said last week, I'm not going to have long distance relationships anymore." So, Dr. Liz Powell, Dirty Lola, Cooper S. | SS 293: Long Distance Relationships & Keeping it Sexy | 07 Jul 2017 | 01:20:09
We have a habit here of finding people fascinating on social media and at conferences, and so often they seem to live so very far away... like many members of the Swingset. Mike Joseph, Cooper S. Beckett, Dr. Liz Powell, and Dylan Thomas get together to discuss the distance between all us and how we work around it. Also, Daddy Dylan takes a little time to story tell about legacy recording medium. Dr Liz discusses how to handle touch being a primary love language when partners are far away. The panel discusses the difference between talking over the phone vs. text, how to handle both granting emotional space and still giving comfort. Dylan mentions that long distance relationships can set people up for constant NRE and how it's hard to keep perspective when that happens.

This year represents our second takeover, and our sixth trip, and tonight we're joined by all the hosts of this year's trip (JV Altharas, Shara Bono, Tristan Taormino, Ginger Bentham, Dylan Thomas, Cooper S. | SS 291: Planning an Orgy - The Dynamics of Group Sex | 14 Jun 2017 | 01:10:53
In traditional one on one sex, you pretty much know who you'll be engaging with, but when that complexity deepens to three, four, five or more (which is where we switch to the term orgy) there are a lot more, ahem, moving parts, to contend with. Group sex has a special set of dynamics, so Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, Dylan Thomas, and Cooper S. Beckett break them down! The co-hosts touch on the fact that orgies don't require play parties, they can happen anywhere, sports viewing parties, show binge watching events, board gaming events, etc... They also mention how to prepare for being part of a pop-up orgy, including the possibility that someone may end up an odd person out, and how to still be cool when that happens. Also, VOTE FOR THE SWINGSET AT LIFEONTHESWINGSET.COM/VOTE

| SS 290: Gang Bang the Mailbag 33 - My Wife and I, the Sequel | 08 Jun 2017 | 01:23:19 | |
We're Gang Banging the Mailbag once again, it is in fact our 33rd time! Today, Dirty Lola, Cooper S. Beckett, Dr. Liz Powell, and Dylan Thomas answer your listener questions! Also, Dylan wants to throw a shoutout to Bex Caputo, aka: @BexTalksSex on Twitter, for their article: Changing What You Love: On Considering Hormones While You're Non-Binary
Question 1: I was hoping you could give my wife and I some advice.
Question 2: My wife and I started our journey in the Lifestyle about 5 years ago. About 2 years ago we got close to some nearby swingers. (Wendy & Paul) After a while, Wendy started to get jealous of my wife and her husband. They talked and decided that it was better to play in separate rooms. We did and was good for some time. All was good until one night my wife visited him without them telling her. We were in a block party and she got a feeling, went to her house and came out really upset. He claims that he texted her. She received a text after the fact. Could it have been a delayed text? Who knows, does not matter. The point is that since that moment it was all drama with them and she pulled out from the relationship. After that incident my wife and Paul started "dating" without Wendy knowing. After a while he told my wife that he felt uncomfortable of me being around when he was there and he'd rather be with her alone since I have her the vast majority of time, it was fair that she could spend good quality time with him from time to time, without me. My wife really loves the guy, but she loves me too and this is tearing her up because although I let that situation to go for some time trying to explain them that I didn't like the arrangement and being left out, I finally put the breaks on it. it really kills me to see her so devastated. she wants to be with me and not lose him. he really wants her without me in the way, and I firmly believe that if we embark on a relation like this, me and my wife are the hosts and he would be a guest and should abide by our rules and I have tasted the feeling of being left behind and I didn't like it.... Am I wrong? What should I do? I'm really confused now.
Question 3: I'm military serving in Afghanistan and I have been gone for several months with a few more to go. My wife and I have played together as a couple with other couples and an occasional single female once or twice. Recently, we've increased our dirty chatting and sharing fantasies, becoming more and more graphic. She was attending a camping event that I knew drinks would be flowing along with some nudity. I found myself very excited at the prospect of my wife become sexual with another man. All sort of situations played out in my mind. After, she shared that there was no more than a little light petting & teasing, but nothing more. We then ventured into adding some fantasy to the reality in the retelling of the weekends events. Then over the course of the past week, we were discussing her getting wild and I was encouraging her to be naughty and to be sure to send me pictures. I shocked her when I described that I wanted to see some pictures with one of our friends cocks in her mouth. After the initial shock she bought into this plan with some teasing. Then after Saturday night I was please to receive sexy pictures of her sucking our friends cock, along with some other shots that appeared to show her either on-top of him cowgirl style or being ridden doggy style from behind. She did reveal that those were staged for my enjoyment and that she didn't feel right doing anything beyond oral without me. I found the picture incredibly sexy and my wife told me she felt very sexy doing it. She has expressed sexual frustration on her end and because of family visiting, she has not had much opportunity to use any of her toys. I've told her that I trust her if she needs to fuck our friend to relieve some frustration, as long as I get the footage of it. The thought excites me and I'd be OK with it once before I return, just not on a routine basis. I want my wife to be happy and I've told her that I am perfectly happy with what ever she is comfortable with and she should not feel pressured to do anything she is uncomfortable with. I just wanted to share and see if there is any discussion about dialing in long distance this way?
Question 4: This past year we found out our 25-year-old son is actually a transgender woman and is currently in transition. Because of our open minded lifestyle, we embrace this 1000%, and have done so from the very first phone call. We have made it clear that our house is a safe space and she can talk about anything wear anything bring home anyone. We are not naïve though we know the rest of the world does not think this way. Our extended families are both very conservative, Christians. This is a sampling of what I worry every day as the parent of a transgender child:; Will my child have the shit beat out of them today? Will my child be murdered today? But my child commit suicide today? Will my child be fired today? Should my child not have gotten on the train today? And on it goes. I have seen the fear in her eyes stopping at a public highway rest stop, I have felt the fear walking into the public rest stop with her. It is real. Now the dilemma. There is a big family wedding coming up this spring. The wedding is in North Carolina and our child has told us she is afraid to go there. I totally understand and support that. In showing our support for her we have told family members that we Will not be able to attend the wedding and have explained why. It's not that we don't want to go to the wedding, it is that we can't go to this location. Well, you can imagine how this is going over. We have family members now that are not talking to us and won't return messages. Certainly the easiest thing would be to just go, But we don't think that is the right thing to do. We are sticking by our guns in support of our new daughter but it's coming at a big cost. Are we doing the right thing?

| SS 289: Gang Bang the Mailbag 32 - "My Wife and I" | 31 May 2017 | 01:12:16 | |
Eighteen episodes is the longest we've ever gone without a listener mailbag episode, so tonight we've dug in deep with a new collection of listener questions including a highly coveted voicemail (573-55-SWING folks)! Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, Dirty Lola, Cooper S. Beckett, and Dylan Thomas field your questions and dig deep. In addition to fielding a voicemail question about dating and learning about how to put out what you're up for, we responded to: Question 2: My wife and I each identify as Poly. We have been actively practicing non-monogamy for a number of years now. This past year however, I was diagnosed with depression and bipolar. living and coping with this condition has really brought strife into our relationship. Therefore, after much consultation with each other and my therapist we have decided to close our marriage for now. There were no active outside relationships at the time, so there was no pulling couple's privilege. Now however, after this initial period of introspection, I found myself asking this question: Shouldn't someone who identifies as Poly, have Poly as their default/fall back situation?
Question 3: my wife & I have been talking about swinging for a while now and we've talked with a few couples but haven't been able to set up a meet yet. the question we have is how do we get over the nervousness of bringing a fantasy to reality and what happens if we don't like the reality of it
Question 4: Dear Swingset. My wife and I have been together for 5 years and my sexual experiences is quite limited. I have many fetishes and we stumbled into a FMF threesome one drunken evening. We have explored some of my fantasies together but many make her uncomfortable and we mostly stick to vanilla sex and light bondage. We are both bisexual and I have never had a sexual experience with another man. I gently brought up the idea of us trying swinging and exploring the many M and F configurations together. This lead to fights and her refusing to even have the discussion with me. She would not let me do this on my own nor with her with the cost being our relationship. After several month I brought it up again and after a long and emotional talk we agreed that we would dip our toes but do everything together, she would set the pace and have veto powers. We started on Feeld and after a couple dates with couples found that she has no physical attractions to males with the exception of me. This is problematic as it leaves me with no males to pursue and us to go unicorn hunting. Long story short we stopped our adventure with nothing gained except a deepened resentment towards me for 'pressuring' her into uncomfortable situations that she didn't want to be a part of anyways. By making the rules that we did everything together she felt she had no choice. Now I'm in a situation where I will not have a chance to be with any other men or women or explore my fetishes for the cost of exploring is my marriage. I feel resentment towards her and my level of physical and emotional attraction towards has suffered greatly. What am I to do?

We talk about butts bunches. Many of us enjoy putting things in our butts. Some of us wish we enjoyed it. What we don't often get into is the whys of butt play, how to make it better, how to explore it at first, and why anal sex can be awesome, so Dirty Lola, Cooper S. Beckett, Dr. Liz Powell, and Dylan Thomas get together to tell some stories and relay some expert opinion!

| SS 286: Making Porn: The Sexy, the Silly, & The Mundane, with Kate Sinclaire | 04 May 2017 | 01:06:42 | |
We've talked a lot about porn, often in high falutin ways about its importance (cuz it is important), its ability to change the world (cuz it has that), its danger of extinction (oh my the politics), and its ability to be beautiful. What we haven't discussed much is how sexy it can be, and how silly, sexy, and mundane making it can be. Kate Sinclaire, founder of CherryStems.com joins Dylan Thomas, Dr. Liz Powell, Dirty Lola, and Cooper S. Beckett to talk about living the porn life, both on and off camera. We also end up discussing revenge porn, colonialism and indigenous porn, squirting, and sploshing.

| SS 284: The Non-Monogamy Renaissance w/ Andre Shakti | 20 Apr 2017 | 00:58:57 | |
Non-monogamy is riding a wave. Recently CNN had a positive article about the fact that more and more young people are choosing some flavor non-monogamy over traditional relationship forms. Awareness continues to grow exponentially, but with that comes the desperate need for a place to go to ask questions. Like us, our guest, the polyamory pundit Andre Shakti has submitted herself to the often scary world of giving advice. Her new advice column "I Am Poly & So Can You" seeks to temper that awareness with education and advice, and help guide people on their paths to relationship fluidity. She joins the panel with Dirty Lola, Dylan Thomas, and Cooper S. Beckett.

| SS Special: Cooper and Ginger Talk Approaching the Swingularity | 15 Apr 2017 | 01:05:21 | |
Ginger continues the two-year tradition by sitting down with Cooper for a frank and intimate discussion about his new novel Approaching the Swingularity: Tales of Swinging & Polyamory, toxic masculinity, inclusion and diversity, sexuality, and sexy vacations and resorts. You can buy the book now RIGHT HERE at ApproachingTheSwingularity.com/ - use promo code SWINGSET at checkout to save 10%! If you still need to catch up, pick up A Life Less Monoagmous here Approaching the Swingularity's Synopsis: “Welcome home…” Those words and a glass of sparkling champagne welcome you to Aphrodite’s Resort and Spa, a place of pleasure and debauchery, situated on a strip of white sand beach on the Riviera Maya. Ryan and Jenn are still newbie swingers in many ways when they arrive with their friends, lovers, playmates, and veterans of this trip Bruce and Paige. As this foursome tries to wring out every last drop of pleasure that Aphrodite's has to offer, they’re confronted with the realities of life at home, as well as complexities of exploring a life less monogamous, the spectrum of sexuality, budding and waning attraction and love, and how one truly gets the most out of an orgy. Alongside them are Alejandra and Crista, a lesbian couple on their first sexy vacation, recognizing the differences and difficulties in being the only lesbian swingers in the crowd. Raymond Horn is the host extraordinaire, on his tenth trip, who is losing his confidence and direction after watching his partner walk out the door the month before. One hundred and eleven couples have descended on Aphrodite’s for a week of the finest food and drink, meeting and flirting, and getting down and debaucherous with friends and lovers alike. They will experience ecstasy and strain, for nothing is quite so intense in non-monogamous lifestyles as seven straight days at a resort filled with like-minded hedonists. Together, they will seize the night. Carpe Noctem! You can support us while you buy great sex toys and products from our favorite online retailer SheVibe at lifeontheswingset.com/shevibe. | SS 283: Ethical Unicorn Hunting in Swinging & Polyamory - Life on the Swingset | 05 Apr 2017 | 01:29:41
While many people enter into non-monogamy when already "coupled," there are some ways that folks approach this transition that can make folks like me feel more like prey than people. While there's nothing wrong with enjoying a threesome or wanting to both date the same person, unicorn hunting can quickly become predatory, coercive, and controlling. So how can you be sure that you're not falling into these patterns? Tonight, we're talking couple privilege and ethical treatment of unicorns.
| SS 282: Playing with Disability w/ Andrew Gurza | 29 Mar 2017 | 01:10:32 | |
When we talk about privilege, it's usually a matter of race and class, and boils down to us not seeing or not even knowing to look for the issues that others face. Andrew Gurza, our guest tonight, is a Disability Awareness Consultant and Cripple Content Creator, and they join joins Cooper, Dylan, Dr. Liz Powell, and Mike Joseph to talk with us about how disability impacts life, the enormous breadth of the subject across the spectrum of sexuality, race, and class, and how it applies to living an alternative sexual lifestyle. | SS 281: Finding and Being Community Role Models w/ Kevin Patterson | 22 Mar 2017 | 01:38:12
There is a sort of order from chaos that happens when like minded people discover others like themselves. Individuals become clusters, clusters become groups, and with groups come unavoidable growing pains, issues, conflict, and struggle. Still, there's a certain magic that comes from having a group of diverse and motivated people with a common role come together to build something, because when you get it right, you end up with a community. Community role models are essential and tonight, Kevin Patterson joinsCooper, Dylan, Dirty Lola, and Mike Joseph to discuss poly role models and the joys and struggles involved with building sex positive community.

| SS 280: Sharing & Oversharing: Putting Our Sex Lives on Stage with Lucas Brooks & Kinky Jean | 16 Mar 2017 | 01:21:51 | |
After seven years of podcasting, it's rather shocking to us how much we put of our lives out into the ether. A podcast can be very much like a living document in that way. What compels us to share so much of ourselves? Probably some narcissism, but also an innate belief that personal information breeds empathy and understanding. Tonight we talk about sharing and oversharing with Cooper, Dylan, Dirty Lola, Mike Joseph, Kinky Jean, and Lucas Brooks to talk about putting our lives out in the open, out on stage. Hello Swingset Fans and welcome to Desire week on the Swingset! The following podcast was recorded at Desire in November 2016 and features Dr. Liz Powell, Chris aka. Mister Pent, and myself, and it is The Gentleperverts Social Club. If you want to join us in Desire from November 4th to the 11th in 2017, well, hurry up! While enjoying time at Desire Resort and Spa, we watched, waited, and realized our suffering through the 2016 Election would continue, but we decided to acknowledge the election and move on, for when we returned home we'd have work to do, and there was no work to be done while "stuck in Mexico". So, Chris Pent. Dr. Liz Powell and myself, with Tonia as our willing hostess and facilitator, decided to talk about:
Closing the Deal Being sexually free means potential surrounds you, but it can be a real challenge to find someone you're attracted to and to ask them to join you in a way that allows for multiple chances for success, and for graceful failures. We are the Gentleperverts Social Club, You can find more Gentleperverts’ Social Club podcasts every month at www.gentleperverts.com and discuss our latest episodes and topics on twitter with @GentlePerverts and on the Swingset.FM network hashtag #SSFM on twitter.. | SS 275: The Myths of Sex & Porn Addiction with Dr. David Ley | 26 Jan 2017 | 01:25:51
It seems to happen like clockwork. Someone cheats, or gets caught in some sort of sex scandal. They have to make amends, show that they're working to fix "the problem" so they can return to their normal lives. While we on the Swingset happen to think that many of their normal lives might've been improved with open and honest conversations about monogamy, so often they fall back to the excuses of "I'm addicted to sex" and failing that, "I'm addicted to porn." It's widespread and it's been propagated by early friend to open sexual discussion Dr. Drew (who has since descended into some sort of madness). Tonight we're thrilled to be joined by clinical psychologist Dr David Ley to discuss the myths of sex and porn addiction. Join Cooper, Dylan, Dirty Lola, Mike Joseph, and Dr. Liz Powell on tonight's panel! As you listen, don't forget to tweet at #sspodcast! We're sponsored by Castle Megastore, a one stop shop with everything you could want, from wand vibrators, to harnesses, to lube and condoms, to a complete suite of BDSM equipment including sex furniture. If you use the promo code SWINGSET at check out you can save 20% on your order. Resources: The Klein Sexual Orientation Grid Christian C. Joyal & Julie Carpentier's study:

| SS 274: Never Finished - Improving Ourselves for Sex & Relationships | 18 Jan 2017 | 01:17:56 | |
It's the New Year, 2017, and for much of our country that means halfhearted resolutions. I'm going to change. I'm going to improve. These resolutions come about because of the arbitrary timeline that defines last year and this year. We are unfinished, and as such, we can strive to always improve. We discuss working on ourselves and becoming better, in sex, in relationships, and in life with Cooper, Dylan, Dr. Liz, Mike Joseph, and Dirty Lola. | SS 273: Cybersecurity for our Naughty Bits, aka: Bring on 2017 | 15 Jan 2017 | 01:13:16
We've been overdue for for a rapprochement with one of our favorite past topics: Privacy and Security in Swinging & Polyamory. The team of Mister Pent and Dylan Thomas put together information about securing yourself on the internet that a panel also including Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, and Cooper S. Beckett could discuss, digest, and put into action. In the age of our ability to connect anywhere and anytime, share information easily, and be as open as we want to be, it's important we arm ourselves with the knowledge necessary to make good decisions about what we put online and the information required to raise our level of computer and internet security. As you listen, don’t forget to tweet at #sspodcast and feel free to ask questions of @MisterPent and @DylanTheThomas! We’re sponsored by Castle Megastore, a one stop shop with everything you could want, from wand vibrators, to harnesses, to lube and condoms, to a complete suite of BDSM equipment including sex furniture. If you use the promo code SWINGSET at check out you can save 20% on your order.
While we are definitely going to put together ebook / guide on cybersecurity for perverts, we wanted to list some of the resources we discussed during the podcast here: On Two-Factor Authentication When enabled, two-factor authentication (or 2FA) can surface as a "we don't recognize this device" message sent to an email address or a mobile phone number, or it can refer to an installed mobile app or a physical security token. You can find a list of websites that support 2FA here: https://twofactorauth.org/ In the meantime if you have a Google account, or have logins on sites like Dropbox, Lastpass, or Microsoft, go grab the Google Authenticator app. If you're a steam gamer, grab the Steam app and enable Steam Guard. On Passwords Securityinabox.org has a lot of great contnet with tools and tactics for digital security, they have a particularly good guide on creating, maintaining, remembering, and recording secure passwords, including with a password manager. XKCD's comic on Password Security that we love: On Password Managers and Sharing Passwords: Mister Pent, Cooper S. Beckett, and Dylan Thomas use Lastpass. Lastpass allows you to have a single set of passwords securely accessible over multiple devices and over the web, while setting up two factor authentication to limit access. It includes web browser extensions to automatically log you into sites and an Android app that does the same, depending on desired level of ease of use. It also allows you to share sets of passwords secureiy and simply with other people. Dylan Thomas also uses mSecure synchronized to a Dropbox account. mSecure has mobile and computer apps. It's not as nice or feature filled as Lastpass, but it's a little extra hassle for a lot of extra security for the most sensitive of passwords. If you need to share a temporary password with someone you can use OneTimeSecret. You create an a self-destructing link that disappears once it's accessed or once a certain amount of time passes. On using VPNs: You can't always trust the access to the internet you have, whether it's because you're in an airport on free airport wireless or a coffee shop or because you're travelling. Sometimes you may just want to tune into BBC Radio 5 using their iPlayer and you happen to not live in the Commonwealth. VPNs can keep your traffic secure when you can't trust your connection, with the added benefit of giving you choice on what country your traffic exits so you can use region specific resources. Dylan Thomas uses BlackVPN. Mister Pent and Cooper S. Beckett use Private Internet Access. Both can support simultaneous connections to cover multiple devices at once, and both allow multiple country exit points It has guides for usage on Windows, OS X, Linux, Android and iOS. On Encrypting your Devices using Passwords or Biometric Authentication: If you don't use a password, pin code, or thumbprint on your mobile devices, set one up! Modern Android and iOS based phones will automatically encrypt your device or give you the option to once you've set a password. While a six digit pin code or better is best, anything is better than nothing. Just Do It. On Encrypting your Computer with Full Disk Encryption! If you have a maching running a Pro version of Windows, use Bitlocker. Windows 7 ||| Windows 10 If you are running any other version of Windows, use Veracrypt. Securityinabox.org has a great guide on using Veracrypt to encrypt an external drive or your entire computer. If you're running MacOS, Backblaze (the Cloud Storage company) has a comprehensive FileVault usage guide, though Apple's isn't so bad. If you're running Linux you probably don't need our assistance. *grin* On Backing up your data & Encryption in the Cloud: One of the biggest risks to your data is physical failure or destruction of your devices. While services like Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox and Box give us places to put our files in a pretty secure way, information stored on those services can be accessed and recovered by the services themselves in case of an investigation or subpoena. We recommend Backblaze as they encrypt data at rest and support two factor authentication. On Communicating Securely: We recommend using Signal Private Messenger, which includes iOS and Android apps and a Chrome extension and supports private messaging and calling. Whatsapp supports end-to-end encryption. With Facebook Messenger you can enable secret conversations. We suggest never sending sensitive information over email. On Social Media: Check out SecurityInABox.org's guide to security and privacy on social networking sites. On Browsing Secureiy: Drive-by malware downloads and poisoned ad networks, or shady looking porn sites, can mean you may pick something up while browsing the internet, often through no fault of your own. Most of us use both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox to browse the web, each for different sets of accounts (Multiple Google Accounts!) and with different sets of extensions installed to help protect ourselves. Mister Pent prefers Ghostery. Dylan Thomas uses Adblock Plus with Google Chrome, and NoScript on Mozilla Firefox. For ultimate browsing privacy, the Tor Browser is a good option.

| SS 272: Beyond Kinsey - Sliding Across the Sexuality Spectrum | 28 Dec 2016 | 01:28:13 | |
One of the main reasons that so many of us leave monogamous relationships is the realization that we or our partners may not be as hetero as we thought. Non-monogamy can provide an exceptional opportunity to go beyond Kinsey's Scale, and view the entire spectrum of sexuality that spreads out before us, learning about ourselves in the process. The fluidity of sexuality and sexual expression is often underappreciated in the vanilla world. From straight to gay, to bi, pan, and omni, that's what we're talking about tonight on Life on the Swingset, the Podcast. As you listen, don't forget to tweet at #sspodcast!

Tonight we answer the following written questions: My road into non-monogamy has been a twisted and challenging path. My 13-year marriage ended last year partly because of an incompatibility around the potential for opening our marriage. When I started dating I tried to be very open with women about my desire for non-monogamy and live a polyamourous life that includes swinging and sometimes a little kink and BDSM. Through dating apps like Tinder I have met many wonderful women and had some great relationships develop. I have tremendously transparent conversations with these women. Most run for the hills after to non-monogamy talk, some are intrigued and go along with it for a while, but in the end these relationships mostly follow the same pattern. The woman is okay with other partners in the beginning, but as time passes she always has a difficult time with the non-monogamy and it ends or goes to the friend zone. Otherwise the woman wants a “don’t ask don’t tell” or “friends with benefits” approach, which to me is just single dating rather than ethical non monogamy. It is impossible to have intimacy without transparency. Where does one go to find women who are already there in the poly/swinger community who are looking for other poly/swing single partners? Are there any better strategies for finding women more directly who already share these values? Aaron from Canada My brief backstory: 50ish male, married for twenty-something years. I have always struggled with attraction, crushes, and even feelings for, and from, others. Monogamy isn't actually what I want, and, in the spirit of a good mid-life crisis, I'm not getting any younger. Being aware of the trauma that this might cause my wife, I have introduced the topic gently and slowly. She has reacted... well, it's hard to say. There has been no screaming and crying, which I guess is a good sign. The best description of her reaction is "ninja-level avoidant", as she deflects my every attempt to explore this in depth. An example: after a recent talk she said "you've given me a lot to think about". I realise what I want most is to have the relationship communication skills that are necessary to be non-monogamous in the first place. To have the openness that I hear others describe in their relationships. It's not even principally about the swinging anymore. I have communication envy! So how do I learn to communicate like a non-monogamous person? And how do I teach someone else to do this? Is it possible? My husband I have been in the swing lifestyle since we first started dating 6 years ago. Along the way, I have developed more romantic feelings for some of our partners, while things remain mainly about friendship and sex for my husband. I've tried to hide my feelings which has resulted in a lot of hurt. We are trying to figure out how to move forward when I feel more poly and he still feels more like a swinger and isn't interested in developing romantic relationships. I'm having trouble finding resources that talk about how to successfully move between the two. Kara Today I found out, in a convoluted way, that a long-term male partner of mine sexually assaulted someone. I don't know the any details. I don't know when it happened, or what happened afterwards. I do know that women don't lie about sexual assault. I also learned two others say they witnessed him pushing boundaries or putting women in uncomfortable situations , and that he's seen as a "missing stair" in some subsets of our local kink community. This is someone I love. Someone I've only ever had positive, affirming, respectful experiences with. Someone I trusted with my life (and I'm an angry, suspicious, mostly-lesbian hardcore feminist killjoy who rarely trusts anyone). What should I do? Oh, and just to make things even more complicated, this partner's live-in partner is also my partner. We're a triad. Do I tell her? How? In answering this question, Dylan lamented not reading the question before he read it as he wanted to have a more prepared answer. Dr. Liz on the other hand was able to respond quickly and effectively on ways to address members of the community to who have violated boundaries and support people who have had their boundaries violated, and how to both repair and grow the larger community after. Visit a compilation of resources Dr. Liz put together here.
We took a little time at the end of the episode for business. Dr. Liz put out a new video on Youtube titled "What's the 'Friend Zone' Anyway?" Mike Joseph has been speaking lately on behalf of the Jed Foundation, a NYC based organization empowering teens and young adults with the skills and support to grow into healthy thriving adults. Visit them at www.jedfoundation.org. You can also always find Mike Joseph at his podcast the Jheri Curl Chronicles Radio Show at www.popblerd.com.

| SS 270: Gang Bang The Mail Bag XXX | 14 Dec 2016 | 01:17:24 | |
Welcome to Gang Bang The Mailbag TRIPLE X! That's right, this is our thirtieth listener mailbag episode, and we're recording tonight with a live (and muted) studio audience! As always, questions have been edited for content and clarity. If you have a question for a future listener mailbag, please give us a call at 573-557-9464 and leave us a message. Tonight we answer a voicemail question on how to maintain long distance play relationships, and the following written questions: I'm a big fan of the podcast,of you as people and of all you're doing for people in the lifestyle. First of all I would like to say as a black man I appreciated the episode on Polyamorous as a Person of Colour, granted my experiences are a different as I am from a majority black country(Jamaica) so I swing with mostly black people. Is being in fuck with someone a thing? Meaning you're not in love with them but you and them have a unique sexual chemistry. Is this a thing, can you be in love, just with having sex with someone? I'm married to a great guy in a monogamous relationship. My fantasy has always been to have an MFM threesome. I finally found the courage to mention this to him a couple years ago, and he was cautious but excited about exploring; he could tell it really turned me on. The question has been who - we both want it to be someone we know well enough that we trust them, and I'm pretty picky. So we haven't really pursued it. Well, we finally have someone in mind. Here's the thing: he's married. He and I originally met at burning man, and since then the four of us have all gotten to know each other. His wife is great. She jokes about his "girlfriends" and he implies they have some flexibility, but I'm not sure exactly what that means. When I asked him if they are poly, he said no, he doesn't like that term. So I don't really know if she'd be cool with it. What is the protocol for trying to move things forward? I'd feel pretty comfortable asking the third if he'd be into it. I'd feel less comfortable asking his wife's "permission." Whatever happens, I don't want to foul up our friendship. (FWIW we don't have an interest in swinging at the moment.) What would you do?
Oh, and assuming the third is into it, any tips for keeping things sexy and comfortable for us? My husband is a little nervous how he'll feel seeing his wife with another man!

| SS 269: Dating on the Outskirts of Sexuality - LGBTQ Matchmaking with Claire Ah | 08 Dec 2016 | 01:20:30 | |
Dating in the heteronormative world is difficult. It's also bizarre enough that hundreds of comedies and dramas are made about dating every year. When you zoom down to that subsection of the culture, the minorities of the LGBTQ community who are seeking others in that same minority, it gets more complicated. Tonight we're joined by Claire to talk about dating on the outskirts of sexuality, and LGBTQ matchmaking with Dirty Lola, Dr. Liz Powell, Dylan, and Cooper. | SS 387: Euretic Consent with Shawn Coleman and Kevin Patterson | 23 Nov 2020 | 01:08:10
Shawn Coleman and Kevin Patterson join Ginger Bentham, Ryan Bentham, and Dylan Thomas, to discuss consent. They talk practicing consent in every day life. “Consent has to exist in our every day lives and not just be a concept in the legal system.” The concept of euretic consent, a term Shawn Coleman has offered the world, is a concept “literally made for this time, this experience, this revolution that we're going through… that invites us to reevaluate our boundaries and our relationships to ourselves.” *** EMBED CODE FOR PODCAST FROM LIBSYN GOES HERE YOU INSENSITIVE CLOD *** Shawn Coleman

| SS 266: Asking For What You Want Leads to Better Sex | 19 Nov 2016 | 01:19:09 | |
Communication. It doesn't need to be said, yet as it's the answer to so many questions we get asked, it really can't be overstated. One of the most important parts of communication when it comes to sexy time, is learning to ask for what you want, so we discuss that in today's episode of Life on the Swingset, along with Dr. Liz Powell, Mike Joseph, Cooper, and Dylan. Today's episode of Life on the Swingset is sponsored by Better Than the Hand, a website that aims to deconstruct stigma and toxicity surrounding male sexuality and masturbation through articles, blogs, toy reviews, and an online store. We're also sponsored by Castle Megastore, a one stop shop with everything you could want, from wand vibrators, to harnesses, to lube and condoms, to a complete suite of BDSM equipment including sex furniture. If you use the promo code SWINGSET at check out you can save 20% on your order. Dr. Liz starts out stating that there's an assumption of wanting to respect what we think someone else wants, and that we make the assumption that "asking for what I want may negatively affect their experience". Cooper asks if Dylan has this problem because he's trying not to be selfish, Dylan suspects that's the case. Mike Joseph mentions that homosexual sex (especially the top vs. bottom negotiation) by default has more communication than heterosexual sex. Dr. Liz comments that women that have sex with women also have a ton more conversations, and that people who consider themselves sex geeks or sex educators really bump up the level of conversation and negotiation that goes into sex. “If you don’t ask for what you want, you’re not going to have that next level sex you’ve been dreaming of.” “Just like you need to be gracious in saying yes, you should try to be gracious in your no’s as well.” - Dylan “I think a lot of those shitty no’s are coming from people shame as well. The reason you give a really shitty no and react with disgust is this kind of, performative goodness. If what they want is bad, then the best way to separate yourself from it is to perform how offended you are by it.” - Dr. Liz "HOW DARE YOU." “Everything changed when I started asking for what I wanted, It as just as likely to be a result of you not asking for what you want than the party not giving you what you want.” - Cooper While Dylan explains how sometimes, when about to play with someone who has a large tool kit / is well skilled at communication, he likes to get an initial yes to exploration and chart the path forward in the moment, listening to non-language verbal cues, and body response. Mike Joseph mentions that it sounds like a recipe for uncertainty and anxiety, so Dylan talks his way through a play session with someone that's willing an open. Mike discovers that being inside someone often elicits all sorts of non-verbal responses. *grin* Cooper mentions that sometimes, in the run up to a party or play session, it's easy to fire away a thought via instant messenger and walk away, it makes it easy to ask for something without necessarily needing feedback right away. Dr. Liz mentions the mildest and wildest activity that many people use at the beginning of play parties and Dylan mentions that even though he uses it, tt never quite "feels" right. “The way I’ve always seen that exercise (mildest and wildest) is that it tells you where the buffet starts and ends. It doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be able to get any specific dish on the buffet.” - Dr. Liz Dr. Liz also mentions that the mildest and wildest activity helps her check-in with herself, and that it's a way of conveying a range of options, not necessarily a set destination, describing it as the beginning and the end of a buffet. The conversation moves to being awkward about starting conversation. Dr. Liz mentions she has a formula. "What I tell people is one of the most effective ways to start a conversation, is by sharing something you’re feeling about having that conversation. You're leading with your softness instead of leading with your hardness." - Dr. Liz You can also find the John Oliver "This Week Tonight" video about Third Parties here:
