Fuck You: Pronouns22 Jun 202600:04:09

This episode of Let's Get Naked tackles the controversial topic of forced pronouns and the pushback against societal 'herd' mentality. We explore why many individuals feel their personal lanes are being invaded by corporate and medical mandates that demand specific linguistic and ideological compliance. The discussion highlights the importance of staying true to oneself while allowing others to do the same, provided they don't force their beliefs on you. We examine the emotional exhaustion that comes from being expected to care about every injustice at the expense of one's own family and community. Join us for a candid conversation about boundaries, personal sovereignty, and the refusal to be shamed into compliance.

What You'll Learn:

  • Why personal lanes are essential for social harmony
  • The impact of corporate pronoun mandates on employee autonomy
  • The difference between empathy and performative activism
  • How to stand firm in your identity against external pressure.

Stay true to your lane and protect your peace.

Finding The Strength In Trauma: Overcome Unnecessary Suffering with Akshay Nanavati03 Jul 202500:55:23

In this powerful episode of the Let’s Get Naked Podcast, Akshay Nanavati opens up about his journey from self-destruction to strength. He shares his early struggles with drug use, the appeal of joining the Marine Corps, and what life in the infantry is truly like—including the heartbreak of losing friends and a wild story inside a 7-ton truck. Akshay reflects on the challenge of returning to civilian life, the transformative power of trauma, and how suffering can become a source of purpose if we choose to reframe it. He also discusses the insights that inspired his book and recounts an incredible survival story from Antarctica. This episode is a raw, inspiring reminder that pain is inevitable—but how we use it defines us.

Akshay Nanavati has overcome drug addiction, PTSD from fighting in Iraq with the Marines (where one of his jobs was to walk in front of vehicles to find bombs), depression and alcoholism that pushed him to the brink of suicide. Since then, by embracing his demons, he has built a global business, run many ultramarathons, spent 17 days in darkness and solation, spent 100 days alone dragging heavy sleds for over 1200 miles in the polar regions.

Despite 4 biological defects including a blood disorder that 2 doctors told him would kill him in boot camp, he is now a sponsored athlete and most recently he pushed his body to the brink of death, spending 60 days alone in Antarctica dragging a 420 sled for 500 miles on what has been called "the boldest Antarctic expedition in modern times."

Combining his life experience with years of research in neuroscience, psychology and spirituality, he wrote the book "Fearvana," about which the Dalai Lama said "Fearvana inspires us to look beyond our own agonizing experiences and find the positive side of our lives." Now Akshay travels the world sharing the wisdom he has unearthed from the most extreme depths of solitude and suffering. He is on a mission to help our human family explore the edges and fall in love with both play and suffering in order to create a life of greater meaning, joy and fulfillment.

Triggers Can Put You In A Cage30 Jun 202500:05:44

In this Let’s Get Naked Podcast mini-episode, we explore how to reframe emotional triggers as valuable assignments in life’s classroom rather than obstacles to avoid. Listeners are encouraged to approach discomfort with curiosity, asking why certain interactions spark strong reactions and how those moments can fuel personal growth. The episode offers practical tools—like pausing to reflect, journaling, or taking a mindful walk—to help process triggers thoughtfully instead of reacting defensively. By doing this inner work, we can pull emotional “weeds” at the root, reduce unnecessary suffering, and build deeper, more authentic connections with others.

Breaking the Cycle of Shame: Bee Bannard on Reclaiming Your Body and Voice26 Jun 202500:57:31

In this powerful episode of the Let's Get Naked podcast, Bee Bannard opens up about her personal journey with shame, fear, and self-discovery. She shares how internalized shame—especially around sexuality—can root itself in the body from an early age, and how personifying fear can help reclaim power. Bee discusses the transformative role of pleasure, the difference between discomfort and danger, and why fostering curiosity—especially in our most vulnerable thoughts—is vital to healing. Her insights on parenting, embodied practices like the hand-washing technique, and the universal nature of shame offer listeners a path toward greater self-acceptance and authenticity.

As a child my time was split between two very different households from the age of three. While looking "normal" on the outside, my insides were in constant questioning and disarray as I navigated growing up prior to college. I feel very fortunate to have attended college, however I realized quickly after graduating (during covid) that a career in Biology was not going to quench my hunger for life. My next move? My partner and I sold everything we owned and flew to Thailand to travel around Southeast Asia. This ended up being a year long adventure and my time there was nothing short of life changing. When I returned, I decided to go all in and pursue my newfound dream of becoming a sex and intimacy coach by enrolling in the Somatica Institute. I'm overjoyed to say I recently completed my training!

I feel so grateful to have found something I'm so passionate about it hardly feels like work. Supporting people in leaning into their own vulnerability to create the connections and life they crave is such a pleasure. I believe that our vulnerability is a superpower capable of creating the belonging we desire at our core. And I couldn't think of a better way to dive in than to talk about sex and intimacy! Pursuing the things that ring true to my soul hasn't been an easy path, but its a path I would walk 1000X over. I would love to talk more and, as you probably can guess, there's far more to my story than I can type here. I love seeing what you're doing and I look forward to hearing from you!

The Hidden Weight of Unprocessed Pain05 Jun 202501:00:24

Childhood trauma doesn’t just go away, it stays with us if we don’t face it.

In this powerful episode, author Melissa shares the heartbreaking story of losing her husband to suicide in 2022. On the outside, they had it all. But behind closed doors, both carried deep pain from their past.

Melissa talks about how silence, pressure to be “strong,” and unhealed trauma can slowly take a toll, especially on men who are taught not to show emotion. After her husband’s passing, she found healing through breathwork, a practice that helped her release grief and reconnect with herself.

Now, she’s using her story to help others break the cycle—teaching kids and adults how to talk about feelings and heal what’s been buried for too long. This episode is a reminder that healing begins when we stop pretending and start feeling.

Shame No More: Healing from Sexual Abuse10 Apr 202501:06:32

In this vulnerable conversation, Anne is joined by Casey and Belinda, who share their childhood experiences of sexual abuse and the aftermath of not being believed.

Casey reveals how her father’s abuse began at six, and the painful moment she was asked to apologize to him. Belinda recounts two assaults, the second of which led to her being labeled promiscuous. Both women describe the defense mechanism of “pretending to be asleep,” highlighting the helplessness of children in these situations.

Their stories show the lasting impact of unhealed trauma. Casey became a people-pleaser, while Belinda sought validation in harmful ways. This episode is a call to action: to teach children about bodily autonomy, create safe spaces to speak up, and, most importantly, believe them.

Join us in breaking the silence and supporting healing, because no child should carry the weight of sexual trauma alone.

Host Anne and her brother Tony reflect on their sister’s sudden death, revealing how grief can shape siblings in opposite ways. Anne numbed her pain with alcohol, while Tony pushed forward without fully facing it.

The Power of Perspective: Family Stories Through Different Filters13 Mar 202501:04:47

Ever wonder why your siblings or parents remember the same family event so differently from you? In this eye-opening episode, Anne sits down with her 19-year-old niece, Kreighton, for a heartfelt "exit interview" about growing up. Their conversation reveals how our personal filters shape the way we experience shared moments and how understanding those differences can heal old wounds.

Kreighton bravely opens up about watching her father’s emotional growth, from a man who once dismissed feelings with “be tougher” to someone who now smiles genuinely, maybe for the first time. She reflects on being “daddy’s girl” and how their relationship has shifted over the years, showing how generational patterns are passed down—and how they can be broken with awareness and intention.

The conversation gets raw when Kreighton shares her struggles with body image and self-acceptance. Anne offers a powerful perspective shift: Would you stay friends with someone who talked to you the way your inner critic does? Together, they unpack the importance of silencing that critical voice—nicknamed “Darla” to build a healthier self-image.

CKeighton also navigates the tricky balance of honoring her parents while finding her own path. She gives her father a C+ in parenting (“with room to grow”), expressing both love and honest critique. Through tears and laughter, Anne and Kreighton show how vulnerability can strengthen family bonds and heal past hurts.

The Art of Saying No: Embracing Vulnerability and Personal Growth05 Dec 202400:57:00

What if saying no could actually lead to a more fulfilling life? We share how personal energy, represented by our Skittles analogy, is finite and precious. By choosing discipline over comfort, we reveal the power of intentional living, from the importance of self-care activities like yoga and journaling to the transformative act of setting boundaries. Together, we explore how stripping away emotions in decision-making can lead to more straightforward choices and personal growth.

The journey doesn't stop at discipline; embracing vulnerability is another critical piece of the puzzle. Growing up in environments where showing vulnerability was often frowned upon, we discovered that it is, in fact, a strength that fosters genuine connections. By sharing our raw truths and experiences, including the challenges of motherhood, we create a space where others can feel safe to do the same without fear of judgment. We aim to nurture a community that values self-acceptance and supports one another in this ongoing journey of self-betterment.

Finally, we tackle the often taboo topics of jealousy, vanity, and self-acceptance. We confront the societal pressures of maintaining youthfulness and share our personal projects of embracing natural aging and inner goodness. The conversation shines a light on how curiosity and introspection can turn emotional challenges into opportunities for growth. By competing only with our past selves, we encourage listeners to focus on their unique journeys, inviting them to engage with our community and share their thoughts. Join us as we support each other on this path of healing, accountability, and transformative personal growth.

A Journey of Sobriety, Self-Discovery, and Transformative Parenting25 Oct 202400:59:54

Imagine a trip to New Orleans that was meant for fun but ended up being the cornerstone of a life-changing journey. My good friend Amanda and I reminisce about our chaotic days back in 2016, when my excessive drinking reached a boiling point, forcing me to confront the need for sobriety. Together, we reflect on the power of friendship and authenticity as we navigated the turbulent waters leading to my decision to enter rehab. Amanda’s support was invaluable, helping me grasp the growth that followed such a pivotal moment.

Our conversation doesn’t shy away from the messiness of healing and self-discovery. We talk about the societal urge to be "fixed" and how embracing one’s traumas can be a catalyst for personal evolution. By sharing our experiences with disassociation and delving into the protective mechanisms of memory, we encourage listeners to face uncomfortable truths. The journey of self-healing is continuous, and, through reflections, we emphasize the importance of pausing, confronting memories, and using these as opportunities to heal and grow.

The episode takes a turn towards family dynamics, where we explore parenting with accountability and vulnerability. I open up about my early life in Oklahoma, the challenges faced, and how they shaped my parenting approach. By setting healthy boundaries and maintaining open communication, we strive to improve our relationships with our children. We even consider innovative strategies like "exit interviews" with kids to better cater to their needs. By embracing radical acceptance and accountability, we aim for stronger, more trusting family connections, underscoring the transformative power of vulnerability in parent-child relationships.
