Is Carbon Capture the Answer to Climate Change? || The Physicist's Case
samedi 15 août 2026 • Durée 31:23
Part 2: The Fix — Professor Myles Allen
In Part 1 we established the physics: every ton of CO₂ warms the planet permanently, net zero is the only way to stop it, and carbon capture is not optional, it's essential. But the science is only half the battle. In this second part, Myles Allen pushes us into the harder territory: why we're stuck at 0.1% carbon capture, why nature-based solutions can't save us, and why the environmental movement's opposition to carbon capture is, in his words, "weird."
We go deep into the CO₂ saturation myth that refuses to die, the real drivers behind the apparent acceleration in warming (spoiler: it's not unexplained), and why cleaning up aerosols is revealing warming that was already there. Allen also takes on the policy front: why the "transition away from fossil fuels" narrative is backfiring in real time, just look at Colombia.
From the sewage analogy that reframes the entire problem, to why long-term targets like net zero 2050 distract from the investments we need now, to the human tipping point that worries him more than ice sheets, this is Allen unfiltered. The physics is simple. The politics is not. And the clock is ticking.

THE PHYSICIST BEHIND NET ZERO: Can we UNDO climate Change ? || Prof. Myles Allen
mardi 11 août 2026 • Durée 36:19
🌍 Let's Climunicate | Episode Part 1: Mr. Net Zero — Professor Myles Allen
Some people call him "Mr. Net Zero." and the nickname stuck for a reason. Myles Allen is the Oxford physicist whose 2009 research fundamentally changed how the world thinks about climate change, not as an annual emissions problem, but as a cumulative carbon budget that the atmosphere keeps like a running bank account.
In this episode, we go deep into the science that shaped the Paris Agreement. Why every ton of CO₂ pushes global temperatures up by half a trillionth of a degree permanently. Why the bathtub analogy still holds, but with a crucial twist most people miss. And why "net zero" isn't just a slogan: it's the physics of stopping warming dead in its tracks.
But Allen doesn't stop at the science. He takes on the hard questions: Why is carbon capture still at 0.1% of what's needed? And why is it "naive" to think falling solar prices alone will kill oil and gas, when the industry has enormous room to cut prices and fight back?

CLIMA: basta diagnosi, parliamo della cura | Luca Mercalli – Parte 2
mercredi 5 août 2026 • Durée 38:20
Episodio Parte 2: La Cura (Solo audio) — Luca Mercalli

Why Climate Communication Fails (And How to Fix It)
vendredi 24 juillet 2026 • Durée 01:11:14
Climate science has never been stronger, so why does confusion still win?
We sit down with physicist, author, and science communicator Professor Marcello Petitta to crack the code on what actually works when talking about climate change.
From a 6am exploded coffee pot to the classrooms of Ethiopia, Marcello shares why the best climate communication starts with listening, not lecturing. We dive into storytelling without distortion, why "99% consensus" backfires, how social media spreads doubt faster than knowledge, and why AI is only as good as the curiosity it sparks.
Whether you're a scientist struggling to reach beyond the lab, a creator fighting for attention in a 30-second world, or just someone who wants to talk about climate without starting an argument, this one's for you.

Why “Uncertainty” Doesn’t Mean What You Think It Means Are Climate Scientists Just Guessing?
mercredi 15 juillet 2026 • Durée 15:19
"If scientists are uncertain, how can they be sure? If there is a range, doesn't that mean they are just guessing?"
They aren't ! and Here is why.
In Episode 5 of the Let's Climunicate solo series, Dr. Alberto Troccoli dismantles the single most weaponized word in climate communication: UNCERTAINTY.
"One is ignorance. The other is measurement". Confuse them, and you fall right into the trap of manufactured doubt.

Why Is Risk Rising? — Catastrophe Modelling, Insurance & the Climate Blind Spot
dimanche 5 juillet 2026 • Durée 01:00:45
"We're seeing 100-year floods happen multiple times a year. That's just crazy."
Dr. Peter Sousounis has spent over two decades inside the catastrophe modelling industry, the hidden infrastructure that decides what you pay for insurance and whether you can get it at all. In this wide-ranging conversation, he exposes why most companies are still treating climate risk as a "box-ticking exercise," why your premiums are rising faster than inflation even in low-risk areas, and why AI might finally fix the fatal flaw in how we model disasters.

The Unintended Transition: Why Fossil Fuel Chaos Speeds Up Electrification
samedi 6 juin 2026 • Durée 15:48
"Drill, baby, drill", but oil just hit $100 a barrel, and the world is buying EVs faster than ever.
In this special episode outside the 10-part Let's Climunicate series, Dr. Alberto Troccoli confronts a disturbing paradox: the fastest acceleration of clean energy may not come from climate policy, but from chaos. Strait of Hormuz disruptions. Surging oil prices. A US president who calls climate change a scam , whose tariffs and geopolitical unpredictability are making fossil fuels expensive and unreliable.
The result? Countries, companies, and consumers are hedging toward electrification not because they grew more virtuous, but because volatility is expensive.

Forecast or Projection?
jeudi 28 mai 2026 • Durée 16:54
"Scientists can't even predict next week's weather, how can they predict 2100?"
They can't. And they're not trying to.
In Episode 4 of the Let's Climunicate solo series, Dr. Alberto Troccoli dismantles the single most damaging confusion in climate communication: the difference between a forecast and a projection. One tells you what to wear tomorrow. The other tells you how to build for the next century. Confuse them, and everything falls apart.
Time Stamps
00:00 - 01:58 Introduction: The Prediction Trap

We dive deep into:
👉🏻 Why climate scientists are not allowed to say "will" when talking about 2100 — and why that precision matters

Can they? In Episode 3 of the Let's Climunicate solo series, Dr. Alberto Troccoli pulls back the curtain on the invisible infrastructure of climate science, the instruments, networks, adjustments, and quality controls that turn millions of raw observations into the global temperature records we see in headlines.
This isn't about blind trust. It's about understanding the measurement.

👉🏻 China's EV market at 50% of new sales, Europe above 30% — and why $100+ oil compresses timelines from decades to years
👉🏻 The 1973 oil shock pattern: crisis spurs efficiency and nuclear investment. The 2022 Ukraine war accelerated European heat pumps. 2026 may repeat the pattern
👉🏻 Why your bank now asks about "energy transition risk" — not climate risk, but balance sheet risk from fossil fuel volatility
👉🏻 The two-speed world: developed economies forced to compress transition timelines, developing economies leapfrogging because the old model is unaffordable
If you felt whiplash reading the headlines, horror at war, then recognition of energy consequences, then confusion about whether to feel anything positive, you're experiencing the translation problem in real time. This episode gives you the framework to understand how transitions actually happen: through economics, through risk, through the hard logic of what happens when cheap oil stops being cheap.
This is a special episode outside the 10-part solo series.

👉🏻 Why "models disagree on the number but agree on the direction" is the most important sentence in climate science
👉🏻 Climate sensitivity (2.5–4°C per CO₂ doubling): uncertainty about how much, not whether
👉🏻 The 2047 cold winter paradox: why a cold decade doesn't disprove a warming projection — and how the anomaly framework from Episode 1 saves you from this trap
👉🏻 Why treating projections as "failed forecasts" is the same category error as confusing weather and climate
If you've ever felt paralysed by climate certainty or dismissive of climate doubt, you're responding to a translation failure. This episode gives you the vocabulary to think clearly about uncertainty, without despair, without denial, and without false precision.
👉🏻 CO₂ now exceeds 420 ppm: a level not seen in at least 800,000 years, and likely several million — meaning no Homo sapiens has ever breathed this atmosphere
👉🏻 How January 2025 data releases integrated thousands of surface stations, ship buoys, weather balloons, and satellite constellations — then weighted, corrected, and compared them against the 1850–1900 baseline
👉🏻 Why NASA, NOAA, CRU, Copernicus, and Berkeley Earth all agree on the big picture despite using different methods, coverage, and assumptions
If you've ever looked at a temperature graph and wondered, "How do they know?" you're asking the right question. The answer is not blind faith. It's a centuries-long collective effort full of gaps, compromises, and ingenious solutions.
This is Episode 3 of the solo series.
